Abstract
Multilayer structures are not only applied to manipulate properties of synthetic polymer materials such as rainbow films and barrier films but also widely discovered in natural materials like nacre. In this work, in situ formation of an interconnected multi-nanolayer (IMN) structure in poly(butylene adipate-co-terephthalate) (PBAT)/poly(butylene succinate) (PBS) cocontinuous blends is designed by an extensional flow field during a "casting-thermal stretching" process, combining the properties of two components to a large extent. Hierarchical structures including phase morphology, crystal structure, and lamellar crystals in IMN films have been revealed, which clearly identifies the crucial role of extensional flow. The oriented PBAT phase in the IMN structure can be beneficial to the epitaxial growth of PBS crystals onto the PBAT nanolayers, thus improving interfacial adhesions. Furthermore, intense extensional stress can also promote crystallinity and thicken the lamellar structure. Given such distinct features in the fully biodegradable films, a simultaneous enhancement in tear strength, tensile strength, and puncture resistance has been achieved. To the best of our knowledge, the tear strength of IMN films about 285.9 kN/m is the highest level in the previous works of this system. Moreover, the proposed fabrication way of the IMN structure is facile and scalable, which is highly expected to be an efficient strategy for development of structured biodegradable polymers with excellent comprehensive properties.

Abstract
The low porosity and wide pore size distribution of biaxial stretching PP microporous membranes continue to be the primary impediments to their industrial application. To solve this problem, there is a critical and urgent need to study the micropore-forming mechanism of PP membranes. In this research, the interfacial micropore formation mechanism of PA6/PP membranes during biaxial stretching was investigated. PA6/PP membranes containing spherical PA6 and fibrillar PA6 were found to exhibit different interfacial micropore formation mechanisms. Numerous micropores were generated in the PA6/PP membranes, containing PA6 spherical particles via the interface separation between the PP matrix and PA6 spherical particles during longitudinal stretching. Subsequent transverse stretching further expanded the two-phase interface, promoting the breakdown and fibrosis of the PP matrix and forming a spider-web-like microporous structure centered on spherical PA6 particles. In PA6/PP membranes with PA6 fibers, fewer micropores were generated during longitudinal stretching, but the subsequent transverse stretching violently separated the PA6 fibers, resulting in a dense fiber network composed of PA6 fibers interwoven with PP fibers. Crucially, the PA6/PP biaxial stretching of microporous membranes presented an optimized pore structure, higher porosity, narrower pore size distribution, and better permeability than β-PP membranes. Furthermore, this study explored a new approach to the fabrication of high-performance PA6/PP microporous membranes, with good prospects for potential industrial application.

Abstract
Researchers have developed many types of nanoscale materials with different properties. Among them, nanofibers have recently attracted increasing interest and attention due to their functional versatility and potential applications in diverse industries, including tapes, filtration, energy generation, and biomedical technologies. Nanolayer coextrusion, a novel polymer melt fiber processing technology, has gradually received attention due to its environmental friendliness, efficiency, simplicity and ability to be mass-produced. Compared with conventional techniques, nanolayer coextruded non-woven nanofibrous mats offer advantages such as a tunable fiber diameter, high porosity, high surface area to volume ratio, and the potential to manufacture composite nanofibers with different components to achieve desired structures and properties. Dozens of thermoplastic polymers have been coextruded for various applications, and the variety of polymers has gradually continued to increase. This review presents an overview of the nanolayer coextrusion technique and its promising advantages and potential applications. We discuss nanolayer coextrusion theory and the parameters (polymer and processing) that significantly affect the fiber morphology and properties. We focus on varied applications of nanolayer coextruded fibers in different fields and conclude by describing the future potential of this novel technology.

Abstract
The structure and morphology of β-crystals of isotactic polypropylene (iPP) are of great significance because β-crystals can improve the toughness and ductility of iPP. Toughening of β-spherulites, which was ascribed to phase transformation, has been extensively investigated. However, the toughening mechanism of other β-crystals with special structures and morphologies is not clear. In this study, β-transcrystallinity (β-TC), which showed a greater toughening effect than that of β-spherulite, was constructed through microlayered coextrusion. During uniaxial stretching, β-TC preferred to transform into an α-crystal, whereas β-spherulite preferred to transform to a smectic mesophase. The transformation degree of β-TC was much higher than that of β-spherulite. More importantly, the lamellar fragments from β-TC gradually rearranged along the stretching direction, accompanied by continuous absorption of energy. The special β-α phase transformation, high transformation rate, and rearrangement of lamellar fragments led to the highly improved toughness of the layered samples.

Abstract
Large enhancement in toughness is observed in β-iPP with a small amount of EA-UFPR, which is mainly attributed to the decreased size of supermolecular units and formation of an interconnected structure.
