Abstract
The trifluoromethyl group is a powerful structural motif in drugs and polymers; thus, developing trifluoromethylation reactions is an important area of research in organic chemistry. Over the past few decades, significant progress has been made in developing new methods for the trifluoromethylation of organic molecules, ranging from nucleophilic and electrophilic approaches to transition-metal catalysis, photocatalysis, and electrolytic reactions. While these reactions were initially developed in batch systems, more recent microflow versions are highly attractive for industrial applications owing to their scalability, safety, and time efficiency. In this review, we discuss the current state of microflow trifluoromethylation. Approaches for microflow trifluoromethylation based on different trifluoromethylation reagents are described, including continuous flow, flow photochemical, microfluidic electrochemical reactions, and large-scale microflow reactions.

Abstract
Sulfoximines are increasingly incorporated in agrochemicals and pharmaceuticals, with the two enantiomers of chiral sulfoximines often having profoundly different binding interactions with biomolecules. Therefore, their application to drug discovery and development requires the challenging preparation of single enantiomers rather than racemic mixtures. Here, we report a general and fundamentally new asymmetric synthesis of sulfoximines. The first S-alkylation of sulfenamides, which are readily accessible sulfur compounds with one carbon and one nitrogen substituent, represents the key step. A broad scope for S-alkylation was achieved by rhodium-catalyzed coupling with diazo compounds under mild conditions. When a chiral rhodium catalyst was utilized with loadings as low as 0.1 mol %, the S-alkylation products were obtained in high yields and with enantiomeric ratios up to 98:2 at the newly generated chiral sulfur center. The S-alkylation products were efficiently converted to a variety of sulfoximines with complete retention of stereochemistry. The utility of this approach was further demonstrated by the asymmetric synthesis of a complex sulfoximine agrochemical.

Abstract
A straightforward method that enables the formation of biologically attractive trifluoromethyl ketones from readily available methyl esters using the potent greenhouse gas fluoroform (HCF3, HFC-23) was developed. The combination of fluoroform and KHMDS in triglyme at −40 °C was effective for this transformation, with good yields as high as 92%. Substrate scope of the trifluoromethylation procedure was explored for aromatic, aliphatic, and conjugated methyl esters. This study presents a straightforward trifluoromethylation process of various methyl esters that convert well to the corresponding trifluoromethyl ketones. The tolerance of various pharmacophores under the reaction conditions was also explored.

Abstract
A Lewis-acid-mediated intramolecular trifluoromethylthiolation of alkenes with phenols that can offer direct access to SCF3-containing chromane and dihydrobenzofuran compounds was disclosed for the first time. Numerous SCF3-containing chromanes were obtained in moderate to good yields using γ-substituted 2-allyphenols as substrates. Meanwhile, various SCF3-containing dihydrobenzofurans with oxa-quaternary centers were also delivered in moderate to good yields using β-substituted 2-allyphenols as substrates.

Abstract
Selective functionalization of ubiquitous C(sp3)-H bonds using visible light is a highly challenging yet desirable goal in organic synthesis. The development of such processes relies on both rational design and serendipitous discoveries from innovative tools such as screening technologies. Applying a mechanism-based screening strategy, we herein report photoredox-mediated hydrogen atom transfer catalysis for the selective activation of otherwise unactivated C(sp3)-H bonds, followed by their trifluoromethylthiolation, which has high potential as a late-stage functionalization tool. The generality of this method is exhibited through incorporation of the trifluoromethylthio group in a large number of C(sp3)-H bonds with high selectivity without the need for an excess of valuable substrate.
