Abstract
A highly regioselective 5-exo-dig cyclization of aromatic N-propargyloxycarbonyl guanidines was developed via an Ag(I)-catalyzed intramolecular hydroamination reaction. This method features a fast reaction rate and mild reaction conditions. Furthermore, it was extended to access halogenated analogues via a one-pot Ag(I)-catalyzed bromocyclization reaction or an I2-mediated iodocyclization reaction with high E/Z selectivity.

Abstract
Herein, an I2 -catalyzed unprecedented cycloisomerization of ynamides is developed, furnishing various functionalized bis(indole) derivatives in generally good to excellent yields with wide substrate scope and excellent atom-economy. This protocol not only represents the first molecular-iodine-catalyzed tandem complex alkyne cycloisomerizations, but also constitutes the first chemoselective cycloisomerization of tryptamine-ynamides involving distinctively different C(sp3 )-C(sp3 ) bond cleavage and rearrangement. Moreover, chiral tetrahydropyridine frameworks containing two stereocenters are obtained with moderate to excellent diastereoselectivities and excellent enantioselectivities. Meanwhile, cycloisomerization and aromatization of ynamides produce pyrrolyl indoles with high efficiency enabled by I2 . Additionally, control experiments and theoretical calculations reveal that this reaction probably undergoes a tandem 5-exo-dig cyclization/rearrangement process.

Abstract
We report an electrochemical intramolecular [3 + 2] cyclization of alkynyl enaminones in a user-friendly undivided cell under constant current conditions without an oxidant and catalyst, and indeno[1,2-c]pyrrole derivatives could be obtained in good to excellent yields. Notably, preliminary substituent-controlled selective transformation is also achieved under electrocatalysis alone, and indeno[1,2-c]pyrrole (R4 ≠ H) or indanone derivatives (R4 = H) could be prepared directly under electrocatalysis without adding a base and heating process.

Abstract
An efficient metal-free synthesis strategy of benzoxazoles was developed via coupling catechols, ammonium acetate, and alkenes/alkynes/ketones. The developed methodology represents an operationally simple, one-pot and large-scale procedure for the preparation of benzoxazole derivatives using molecular iodine as the catalyst. A metal-free one-pot multi-component method for the efficient synthesis of 2-aryl benzoxazoles via coupling of catechols, ammonium acetate and alkenes/alkynes/ketones using an I2–DMSO catalyst system is illustrated.![]()

Abstract
Selective condensation/bicycloaromatization of two different arylalkynes is firstly developed under ligand-free copper(i)-catalysis, which allows the direct synthesis of C-N axial biaryl compounds in high yields with excellent selectivity and functional group tolerance. Due to the critical effects of Cu(i) catalyst and HFIP, many easily occurring undesired reactions are suppressed, and the coupled five-six aromatic rings are constructed via the selective formation of two C(sp2)-N(sp2) bonds and four C(sp2)-C(sp2) bonds. The achievement of moderate enantioselectivity verifies its potential for the simplest asymmetric synthesis of atropoisomeric biaryls. Western blotting demonstrated that the newly developed compounds are promising targets in biology and pharmaceuticals. This unique reaction can construct structurally diverse C-N axial biaryl compounds that have never been reported by other methods, and might be extended to various applications in materials, chemistry, biology, and pharmaceuticals.

Abstract
The combination of catalytic aqueous hydrochloric acid (HCl) and N-bromosuccinimide (NBS) generated electrophilic bromine monochloride (BrCl), which readily induced spiroannulation of 2-alkynolyl anilides (n = 1-3) to form gem-dibromospirocyclic benzo[d][1,3]oxazines in up to 92% yield. The reaction occurred under mild and metal-free conditions using EtOAc as a green solvent. The resulted spirocyclic products contained benzo[d][1,3]oxazine, which was useful both as a pharmacophore and synthetic precursor. In addition, the current protocol allowed to effortlessly introduce the sp3-gem-dibromide carbon adjacent to the sterically demanding spiroketal center. These spiroheterocycles (n = 1) were shown to be synthetically versatile and conveniently maneuvered. Base-promoted debrominative aromatization of these spirocycles unmasked rare and synthetically useful 2-aryl-3-bromofurans in mostly excellent yields. These 3-bromofurans were well-suited substrates for intramolecular Ullmann C-N bond coupling to construct difficult-to-prepare 4H-furo[3,2-b]indoles. Additionally, the current protocol was flexible and adaptable to preparing the gem-dichloride variants.

Abstract
Herein we have disclosed a Zn(OTf)2 catalyzed synthesis of C2-alkyl substituted indole derivatives via unprecedented carbonyl group migration from o-amido alkynols. The key features of this protocol involve N,O-carbonyl group migration, broad substrate scope with varied functionality tolerance, moderate to good yields, and 100% atom economy. The crossover experiments proved that the migration is happening via an intramolecular pathway.

Abstract
We demonstrated a highly competitive and selective C-C and N-C cross-coupled 7-, 6- and 5-annulation utilizing 2-ethynylanilides to afford functionalized 1H-benzo[b]azepin-2(5H)-ones, 2-quinolinones, and 3-acylindoles in high yield. ZnCl2 was found to be the smart catalyst for 7- and 5-annulation with 1,3-migration through C-H and N-H functionalization, respectively, whereas molecular iodine performed the C-H functionalized 6-annulation with a nonconventional 1,3 H-shift. The mechanism was investigated by intermediate trapping, control, and labeling experiments.

Abstract
Unprecedented I2-catalyzed α,α-C(sp3)-H, decarboxylative α-C(sp3)-H, lactonized α-C(sp3)-H, and α,β-C(sp3)-H functionalized 5- and 6-annulation as well as α-C(sp3)-H activated 6-lactonization of primary aliphatic amines are devised under aerobic conditions. The metal-free sustainable strategy was employed for the diverse construction of valuable five-and six-membered polycyclic N,O-heteroaromatics such as oxazoles, 1,4-oxazines, and oxazin-2-one with a rapid reaction rate and high yield. The viability of this mild nonmetallic catalysis is successfully verified through syntheses of labile chiral heterocyclic analogues. In contrast to the common practice, this method is not limited to use of prefunctionalized amines, directing groups (DGs) and/or transient DGs, metal catalysts, and traditional oxidants. The possible mechanistic pathway of the annulation reaction is investigated by control experiments and ESI-MS data collected for a reaction mixture of the ongoing reaction. The synthesized new compounds are potent organic nanobuilding blocks to achieve valuable organic nanomaterials of different sizes, shapes, and dimensions, which are under investigation for the discovery of high-tech devices of innovative organic nanoelectronics and photophysical properties.

Abstract
The mechanism of ring-opening polymerization of L-lactide by iodine trichloride (ICl3 ) catalyst has been explored by using density functional theory (DFT) calculations and three catalytic pathways were proposed. The first and second pathways belong to the halogen bond catalysis, and the third pathway involves the ICl3 catalysts participating in reactions. When the carbonyl group was maintained involved in the reaction and activated catalytically by the halogen bond, there are two possible pathways. The first pathway involves only one transition state, and the second pathway requires two transition states. There is another pathway in which ICl3 directly participates in the reaction, it is named the third pathway. Two different transition states of the four-membered rings are generated successively, the transfer of I─O bonds determined the progress of the reaction. Theoretical calculations in this work provide the most basic understanding of ring-opening polymerization of L-lactide by ICl3 catalysts. © 2019 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.

Abstract
A regioselective synthesis of polysubstituted dihydropyrazoles and pyrazoles through an iodine-catalyzed oxidative cyclization strategy of aldehyde hydrazones with electron-deficient olefins is described. The protocol adopts very mild reaction conditions and provides desirable yields. The reaction is supposed to proceed via a cascade C-H functionalization, C-N bond formation, and oxidation sequential processes. The overall simplicity and regioselectivity of the catalytic system make this approach a valuable and step-economical tool to construct a C-C bond for the synthesis of Mefenpyr-Diethyl.

Abstract
An efficient and facile method to synthesize valuable disubstituted 2-aryl indoles and benzofurans in good yields has been demonstrated, based on a tert-butoxide-mediated condensation reaction involving a vinyl sulfoxide intermediate. Products are obtained from N- or O-benzyl benzaldehydes using dimethyl sulfoxide as a carbon source. The methodology features a wide functional group tolerance and transition metal-free environment. Preliminary mechanistic studies suggest that the reaction involves a tandem aldol reaction/Michael addition/dehydrosulfenylation/isomerization sequence through an ionic protocol.

Abstract
The exploitation of new and active earth-abundant metal catalysts is critical for sustainable chemical production. Herein, we demonstrate the design of highly efficient, robust, and reusable ZnII -bipyridine-based metal-organic framework (MOF) catalysts for the intramolecular hydroamination of o-alkynylanilines to indoles. Under similar conditions homogeneous catalytic systems mainly provide hydrolysate. Our results prove that MOFs support unique internal environments that can affect the direction of chemical reactions. The ZnII -catalyzed hydroamination reaction can be conducted without additional ligands, base, or acid, and is thus a very clean reaction system with regard to its environmental impact.

Abstract
Metal-free chemoselective hydroamination of styrene derivatives has been achieved with high chemoselectivity over sulfenylation of 1H-tetrazole-5-thiol using a catalytic amount of iodine. The scope of this methodology has been extended for the hydroamination of α-substituted styrene derivatives. This reaction involves a single-step C-N-bond formation under atom economical process. This eco-friendly method uses readily available and inexpensive iodine in a catalytic amount.

Abstract
A copper-catalyzed process for the synthesis of substituted quinazolines from benzonitriles and 2-ethynylanilines using molecular oxygen (O2) as sole oxidant is described. The mild catalytic system enabled the effective cleavage of the C-C triple bond and construction of new C-N and C-C bonds in one operation. Furthermore, the compound N, N-dimethyl-4-(2-(4-(trifluoromethyl)phenyl)quinazolin-4-yl)aniline (3dj) exhibited obvious aggregation-induced emission phenomenon, and the fluorescence quantum yield (ΦF,film) and lifetime (τfilm) were measured to be 45.5% and 5.8 ns in thin films state, respectively.
