Abstract
Ovarian cancer (OC) has the highest mortality rate among malignant tumors, primarily because it is difficult to diagnose early. Exosomes, a type of extracellular vesicle rich in parental information, have garnered significant attention in the field of cancer diagnosis and treatment. They play an important regulatory role in the occurrence, development, and metastasis of OC. Consequently, exosomes have emerged as noninvasive biomarkers for early cancer detection. Therefore, identifying cancer-derived exosomes may offer a novel biomarker for the early detection of OC. In this study, we developed a metal-organic frameworks assembled "double hook"-type aptamer electrochemical sensor, which enables accurate early diagnosis of OC. Under optimal experimental conditions, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy technology demonstrated a good linear relationship within the concentration range of 31-3.1 × 106 particles per microliter, with a detection limit as low as 12 particles per microliter. The universal exosome detection platform is constructed, and this platform can not only differentiate between high-grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSOC) patients and healthy individuals but also distinguish between HGSOC patients and nonhigh-grade serous OC (non-HGSOC). Consequently, it provides a novel strategy for the early diagnosis of OC and holds great significance in clinical differential diagnosis.

Abstract
In this research, a novel biosensing platform is described based on graphene nano-sheets decorated with Ag nano-particles (GNSs@Ag NPs). The designed electrochemical aptasensor was employed to determine carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA), an important cancer biomarker. Inherently, aptasensing interfaces provide high sensitivity for CEA tumor marker because of the high specific surface area and excellent conductivity of the prepared GNSs@Ag NPs composite. The established assay demonstrated a wide linear range from 0.001 pg/mL to 10 pg/mL with a correlation coefficient of 0.9958 and low detection limit (DL) of 0.5 fg/mL based on S/N = 3 protocol. The derived biosensor illustrated acceptable selectivity towards common interfering species including HER2, VEGF, IgG, MUC1 and CFP10. In addition, the aptsensor showed good reproducibility and fast response time. The applicability of the suggested strategy in human serum samples was also examined and compared to the commercial enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Based on the experimental data, it was found that the discussed sensing platform can be exerted in the monitoring of CEA in different cancers for early diagnosis.

Abstract
In this research, gold nanoparticle (GNPs)-modified metal-organic framework/reduced graphene oxide (MOF(801)/rGO) hybrid was employed to design a new aptasensor for carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) quantification in biological sample. The sensing ability of the electrode for CEA biomarker was examined with electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) and cyclic voltammetry procedures. Besides, CEA was electrochemically quantified by the EIS method. With respect to the high surface-to-volume ratio of MOF(801) and the good electron transfer ability of rGO, the proposed sensor displayed notable sensitivity and reliability in the CEA analysis. The derived electrode showed an appreciable detection limit of 0.8 pg L-1 using EIS protocol. In addition, the present aptasensor revealed diverse advantages including anti-interference property, wide linear range (0.0025-0.25 ng L-1), convenience and high efficiency toward CEA quantification. More importantly, the performance of the suggested assay remains unchanged in analysis of CEA in body fluids. The established assay demonstrates that the suggested biosensor is a promising device in clinical diagnosis.

Abstract
An electrochemical aptsensor for deoxynivalenol determination was successfully designed and constructed based on a defective bimetallic organic framework (denoted as ZrTi-MOF). The high porosity, large specific surface area, several structural defects, mixed metal clusters, and rich functionality of ZrTi-MOF markedly enhanced its electrochemical activity and facilitated the aptamer immobilization. As a result, the ZrTi-MOF-based aptasensor shows high sensitivity to detect deoxynivalenol via specific recognition between aptamer and deoxynivalenol, as well as the formation of aptamer-deoxynivalenol complex. On this basis, the developed ZrTi-MOF-based impedimetric aptasensor showed a low detection limit of 0.24 fg mL-1 for deoxynivalenol determination in the deoxynivalenol concentration range 1 fg mL-1- 1 ng mL-1 under optimized conditions, which also exhibited satisfactory selectivity, stability, reproducibility, and regenerability. Furthermore, determination of deoxynivalenol was achieved in bread and wheat flour samples via the developed ZrTi-MOF-based deoxynivalenol aptasensor. The result from this study showed that the ZrTi-MOF-based electrochemical aptasensor could become a promising strategy for detecting deoxynivalenol in foodstuffs in the future.

Abstract
Monitoring cortisol, a hormone released by the adrenal cortex in response to stress, is essential to evaluate the endocrine response to stress stimuli. While the current cortisol sensing methods require large laboratory settings, complex assay, and professional personnel. Herein, a novel flexible and wearable electrochemical aptasensor based on a Ni-Co metal-organic frameworks (MOF) nanosheet-decorated carbon nanotubes (CNTs)/polyurethane (PU) film is developed for rapid and reliable detection of cortisol in sweat. First, the CNTs/PU (CP) film was prepared by a modified wet spinning technology, and the CNTs/polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) solution was thermally deposited on the surface of CP film to form the highly flexible CNTs/PVA/CP (CCP) film with excellent conductivity. Then aminated Ni-Co MOF nanosheet prepared by a facile solvothermal method was conjugated with streptavidin and modified on the CCP film. Biofunctional MOF can effectively capture cortisol aptamer due to its excellent specific surface area. In addition, the MOF with peroxidase activity can catalytic oxidization of hydroquinone (HQ) by hydrogen peroxide (H2O2), which could amplify the peak current signal. The catalytic activity of Ni-Co MOF was substantially suppressed in the HQ/H2O2 system due to the formation of the aptamer-cortisol complex, which reduced the current signal, thereby realizing highly sensitive and selective detection of cortisol. The sensor has a linear range of 0.1-100 ng/mL and a detection limit of 0.032 ng/mL. Meanwhile, the sensor showed high accuracy for cortisol detection under mechanical deformation conditions. More importantly, the prepared MOF/CCP film based three-electrode was assembled with the polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) substrate, and the sweat-cloth was used as the sweat collection channel to fabricate a wearable sensor patch for monitoring of cortisol in volunteers' sweat in the morning and evening. This flexible and non-invasive sweat cortisol aptasensor shows great potential for quantitative stress monitoring and management.

Abstract
Since the outbreak of COVID-19 in the world, it has spread rapidly all over the world. Rapid and effective detection methods have been a focus of research. The SARS-CoV-2 N protein (NP) detection methods currently in use focus on specific recognition of antibodies, but the reagents are expensive and difficult to be produced. Here, aptamer-functionalized nanopipettes utilize the unique ion current rectification (ICR) of nanopipette to achieve rapid and highly sensitive detection of trace NP, and can significantly reduce the cost of NP detection. In the presence of NP, the surface charge at the tip of the nanopipette changes, which affects ion transport and changes the degree of rectification. Quantitative detection of NP is achieved through quantitative analysis. Relying on the high sensitivity of nanopipettes to charge fluctuations, this sensor platform achieves excellent sensing performance. The sensor platform exhibited a dynamic working range from 102-106 pg/mL with a detection limit of 73.204 pg/mL, which showed great potential as a tool for rapidly detecting SARS-CoV-2. As parallel and serial testing are widely used in the clinic to avoid missed diagnosis or misdiagnosis, we hope this platform can play a role in controlling the spread and prevention of COVID-19.

Abstract
Copper-based metal-organic frameworks (MOF) and multi-walled carbon nanotubes (HKUST-1-MWCNTs) composite were synthesized by one-step hydrothermal method, and PDA-enzyme-HKUST-1-MWCNTs composite was prepared by one-pot method for the construction of glucose biosensors, which realized the sensitive amperometric detection of glucose at 0.7 V (vs. SCE). The sensitivity of the sensor for glucose detection was 178 μA mM-1cm-2 in the wide linear range of 0.005 ~ 7.05 mM, the detection limit was 0.12 μM and the corresponding RSD was 3.8%. Its high performance is mainly benefitted from the high porosity and large specific surface area of HKUST-1, the good conductivity of MWCNTs, and the excellent adhesion and dispersion of PDA. The strategy of combining PDA and MWCNTs to improve the dispersion and conductivity of MOF is expected to achieve a wider application of MOF-based materials in the electrochemical biosensing field.

Abstract
An essential tool in the management and control of the COVID-19 pandemic is the development of a fast, selective, sensitive, and inexpensive COVID-19 biomarkers detection method. Herein, an ultrasensitive and label-free biosensing strategy was described for the colorimetric and fluorimetric detection of thrombin. A dual-mode aptasensing method based on integrating engineered ssDNA with a stimulated fluorescent enzyme-mimetic copper-based metal-organic framework (Cu-MOF) as a molecular recognition element for thrombin was investigated. Cu-MOFs displayed stimulated fluorescence and enzyme-mimetic peroxidase activities that oxidize the chromogenic colorless substance TMB to blue-colored oxTMB. The thrombin-based aptamer (ssDNA) can be immobilized on the Cu-MOF surface to form a functionalized composite, ssDNA/MOF, and quench the stimulated fluorescence emission and the enzymatic activity of the Cu-MOF. Later, addition of thrombin recovers the fluorescence and enzymatic activity of the MOF. Thus, a turn-on colorimetry/fluorimetry aptasensing probe was designed for the detection of thrombin. Based on colorimetric assay, 350 pM was recorded as the lower limit of detection (LOD), while based on the fluorescence mode, 110 fM was recorded as the LOD (when S/N = 3). The label-free aptasensing probe was used successfully for the detection of thrombin in COVID-19 patients with satisfactory recoveries, 95-98%. Since the detection time of our aptasensor is relatively rapid (45 min) and due to the low-cost precursors and easy-to-operate characteristics, we believe that it has great potential to be used in point-of-care testing (POCT).

Abstract
Mycotoxin contamination in foodstuffs and agricultural products has posed a serious hazard to human health and raised international concern. The progress of cost-effective, facile, rapid and reliable analytical tools for mycotoxin determination is in urgent need. In this regard, the potential utility of metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) as a class of crystalline porous materials has sparked immense attention due to their large specific surface area, adjustable pore size, nanoscale framework structure and good chemical stability. The amalgamation of MOFs with high-affinity aptamers has resulted in the progress of advanced aptasensing methods for clinical and food/water safety diagnosis. Aptamers have many advantages over classical approaches as exceptional molecular recognition constituents for versatile bioassays tools. The excellent sensitivity and selectivity of the MOF-aptamer biocomposite nominate them as efficient lab-on-chip tools for portable, label-free, cost-effective and real-time screening of mycotoxins. Current breakthroughs in the concept, progress and biosensing applications of aptamer functionalized MOFs-derived electrochemical and optical sensors for mycotoxins have been discussed in this study. We first highlighted an overview part, which provides some insights into the functionalization mechanisms of MOFs with aptamers, offering a foundation to create MOFs-based aptasensors. Then, we discuss various strategies to design high-performance MOFs-based aptamer scaffolds, which serve as either signal nanoprobe carriers or signal nanoprobes and their applications. We perceived that applications of optical aptamers are in their infancy in comparison with electrochemical MOFs-derived aptasensors. Finally, current challenges and prospective trends of MOFs-aptamer sensors are discussed.

Abstract
A zirconium-cobalt metal-organic framework (ZrCo-MOF) was prepared and used as sensing material to fabricate an aptasensor for trace detection of carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA). The ZrCo-MOF integrates the 3D porous structure and abundant defects of the MOF framework, the catalytic activity and inherent redox behavior of Co, and high stability of Zr-MOF, providing abundant active sites to effectively anchor aptamers. As a result, the ZrCo-MOF-based aptasensor shows high sensitivity to detect CEA via specific recognition between aptamer and CEA, as well as the formation of aptamer-CEA complex. A detection limit of 0.35 fg·mL-1 was deduced from the electrochemical impedance spectroscopy within a wide linear range of 0.001-100 pg·mL-1 for CEA, which was substantially lower than those of most reported CEA biosensors. The ZrCo-MOF-based aptasensor also shows good selectivity, reproducibility, regenerability, stability, and applicability for human serum sample. Therefore, the developed ZrCo-MOF-based aptasensor will be promising for ultrasensitive detection of biomarkers and the early diagnosis of cancer. This work presents a novel electrochemical aptasensor for the trace detection of carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) based on a zirconium-cobalt metal-organic framework (ZrCo-MOF), which shows low detection limit of 0.35 fg·mL-1, high selectivity as well as good reproducibility, regenerability, stability, and applicability. The result provides a promising approach to detect the cancer biomarkers in an early age.

Abstract
In this study, a core-shell-structured magnetic metal-organic framework (MMOF) composite material (Fe3O4@UiO-66-NH2) was synthesized by the solvothermal method. It was employed as a new absorbent in combination with high-performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (HPLC-MS/MS) for the simultaneous detection of four aflatoxins (AFs) in rice. This method could shorten the pre-processing time by exploiting the advantageous characteristics of magnetic cores. The impurity was removed quickly. The effects of extraction solution, extraction time, adsorbent types, and amount of adsorbent on the extraction rate of target compounds were optimized. Under optimized conditions, AFs were validated and showed a good linear relationship within the 0.375-20 μg kg-1 concentration range (r2 > 0.9992). The limit of detection (LOD) was 0.0188-0.1250 μg kg-1 and the limit of quantification (LOQ) was 0.0375-0.3750 μg kg-1. At three spiking levels (0.375, 2, and 10 μg kg-1), the average recovery values for the four AFs ranged from 85.1% to 111.0%. The relative standard deviation ranged from 3.4% to 7.7%. The new method proved to be simple, fast, efficient, and suitable for the determination of AFs in rice samples.

Abstract
Heavy metal pollution resulting from significant heavy metal waste discharge is increasingly serious. Traditional methods for the detection of heavy metal ions have high requirements on external conditions, so developing a sensitive, simple, and reproducible detection method is becoming an urgent need. The aptamer, as a new kind of artificial probe, has received more attention in recent years for its high sensitivity, easy acquisition, wide target range, and wide use in the detection of various harmful substances. The detection platform that an aptamer-based electrochemical biosensor (E-apt sensor) provides is a new approach for the detection of heavy metal ions. Nanomaterials are particularly important in the construction of E-apt sensors, as they can be used as aptamer carriers or sensitizers to stimulate or inhibit electrochemical signals, thus significantly improving the detection sensitivity. This review summarizes the application of different types of nanomaterials in E-apt sensors. The construction methods and research progress of the E-apt sensor based on different working principles are systematically introduced. Moreover, the advantages and challenges of the E-apt sensor in heavy metal ion detection are summarized.

Abstract
Recently, electrochemistry- and photoelectrochemistry-based biosensors have been regarded as powerful tools for trace monitoring of carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) due to the fact of their intrinsic advantages (e.g., high sensitivity, excellent selectivity, small background, and low cost), which play an important role in early cancer screening and diagnosis and benefit people's increasing demands for medical and health services. Thus, this mini-review will introduce the current trends in electrochemical and photoelectrochemical biosensors for CEA assay and classify them into two main categories according to the interactions between target and biorecognition elements: immunosensors and aptasensors. Some recent illustrative examples are summarized for interested readers, accompanied by simple descriptions of the related signaling strategies, advanced materials, and detection modes. Finally, the development prospects and challenges of future electrochemical and photoelectrochemical biosensors are considered.

Abstract
Integrating metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) of different components or structures together and exploiting them as electrochemical sensors for electrochemical sensing has aroused great interest. Furthermore, the incorporation of noble metals with MOFs is conducive to the improvement of catalytic performance. In this work, Pd@UiO-66-on-ZIF-L nanomaterials were successfully synthesised onto a self-supported flexible carbon cloth (Pd@UiO-66-on-ZIF-L/CC) through a novel strategy called MOF-on-MOF. Then, Au nanoparticles were electrodeposited onto Pd@UiO-66-on-ZIF-L/CC to obtain Au-Pd@UiO-66-on-ZIF-L/CC, which can serve as an excellent electrocatalyst for the reduction of hydrogen peroxide (H2O2). The obtained flower-like Pd@UiO-66-on-ZIF-L/CC hybrid MOF changes the structure of the monomeric MOF alone and adds more attachment sites. The synergy of the bimetals greatly improved the catalytic performance of the as-developed sensor. Electrochemical experiment results show that the proposed sensor based on Au-Pd@UiO-66-on-ZIF-L/CC has an extended linear range from 1 μM to 19.6 mM with a sensitivity of 390 μA mM-1 cm-2, and a low limit of detection (LOD) of 21.2 nM (S/N = 3). Moreover, it has good anti-interference, reproducibility, repeatability and excellent stability. Furthermore, the real-time in situ detection of H2O2 secreted from human adenocarcinomic alveolar basal epithelial cells (A549 cells) was achieved by culturing cells on Au-Pd@UiO-66-on-ZIF-L/CC, which indicates the potential of the sensor for applications in cancer pathology. Both the synthesis strategy and the sensor design provide new methods and ideas for the production of ultrasensitive H2O2 electrochemical sensors.

Abstract
A novel aptamer@AuNPs@UiO-66-NH2 electrospun nanofibrous coating fiber for specific recognition of microcystin-LR (MC-LR) was proposed by using electrospinning, metal-organic frameworks (MOF) seed growth and AuNPs bridging aptamer strategies. Characterization of morphology, structure and stability of the obtained affinity nanofibrous coating fiber were investigated. High loading of MOFs and aptamers on the nanofibrous fiber were achieved and successfully applied for accurate identification of MC-LR by solid-phase microextraction (SPME) coupled with LC-MS. Highly specific recognition of MC-LR with little interference of analogs was achieved with extremely low LOD (0.004 ng/mL), good precision (CV% < 11.0%) and low relative error (RE% = -1.5% to -10.0%), which was rather better than that of the traditional SPME or SPE protocols. Satisfactory recoveries of MC-LR were obtained in the range of 92.0-96.8% (n = 3) in fortified tap water, raw pond water and river water samples. This work revealed an attractive alternative access to specific recognition and super-sensitive analysis of MC-LR in water.

Abstract
The booming development of novel porous materials, metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) and covalent-organic frameworks (COFs) has been attracting a lot of attention due to their designabilities, diversities, and extensive applications. MOFs and COFs provide a new potential opportunity and platform to fabricate electrochemical aptasensors for biosensing applications. Compared to other traditional materials, MOF/COF-based electrochemical biosensors can appreciably amplify the electrochemical response signals to improve the sensing performance. Herein, we provide a comprehensive overview of MOF/COF-based electrochemical aptasensors for monitoring different ultra-trace analytes (e.g. antibiotics, pesticides, and cancer markers). This review systematically discusses the classification of electrochemical aptasensors based on various functional materials, including pure MOFs, MOF/conductive composites, metal nanoparticle/MOF composites, pure COFs, COFs/conductive composites, and other hybrid materials. Furthermore, some typical MOF/COF-based electrochemical aptasensors in the recognition of specific targets are described in detail to improve and guide further research for biosensing applications.

Designing a photoelectrochemical (PEC) immunosensor that can produce dual photocurrent signals which can refer to each other is a great importance but a big challenge. In this manuscript, a novel dual photocurrent signals immunosensor was constructed for the detection of α-fetoprotein (AFP). Unlike the usual method of using two composite materials to provide cathode and anode photocurrent respectively, this work applies only one compound of MIL-101 (Cr) and CdSe quantum dots (QDs). Thereinto, we found that the photocurrent polarity of MIL-101(Cr) would switch by adjusting applied voltage. And then CdSe QDs was introduced by simple ultrasound mixing to boost the dual photocurrent signals. Furthermore, in the composite of M&C, the electron transfer path between MIL-101(Cr) and CdSe QDs may switch between "Z-type" and "Ⅱ-type" by adjusting voltage. Benefiting by the dual signals, the proposed sensor can not only perform sensitively quantitative detection of α-fetoprotein (AFP), but also can intuitively estimate the accuracy and reliability of the test result by determining whether the corresponding relationship of "cathode photocurrent-analyte concentration-anode photocurrent" is established. The linear ranges of the sensing electrodes as cathode and anode are the same, both from 0.1 to 300 ng mL-1. The limit of detection (LOD) is 0.082 ng mL-1 (S/N = 3) when it used as an anode, and the LOD is 0.054 ng mL-1 (S/N = 3) when it served as cathode. Furthermore, this sensor showed acceptable stability, reproducibility, specificity, and feasibility of detecting AFP in human serum, which has broad development prospects in the early clinical diagnosis.

Abstract
The self-healing mechanism and bioelectrochemical interface properties of supramolecular gels have been rarely explored. In this context, we propose a constitutive "fibril-reorganization" model to reveal the self-healing mechanism of a series of core-shell structured guanosine-borate (GB) hydrogels and emphasize that interfibrillar interactions at the supramolecular polymer scale (G-quadruplex nanowires) drive the self-healing process of GB hydrogels. Structure-electrochemical sensing performance studies reveal that GB hydrogel nanofibers with relatively strong biomolecular affinity such as -SH modified GB hydrogel (GB-SH) show a high sensitivity of response and low limit of detection for tumour marker alpha-fetoprotein sensing (AFP; 0.076 pg mL-1). Guanosine/ferroceneboronic acid (GB-Fc) hydrogel nanofibers with superior conductivity and redox activity display the widest linear detection range for AFP (0.0005-100 ng mL-1). Structure-property correlations of GB hydrogels provide useful insight for the future design of advanced self-healing materials and electrochemical biosensors.

Abstract
A zirconium-based metal-organic framework (MOF) was successfully constructed via solvothermal assembly of a triphenylamine-based tricarboxylate ligand and Zr(IV) salt, the structure simulation of which revealed that it possesses a two-dimensional layered framework with a relatively rare dodecnuclear Zr12 cluster as the inorganic building unit. The inherent photo-responsive property derived from the incorporated photochromic triphenylamine groups combined with its high stability makes the constructed MOF an efficient heterogeneous photocatalyst for the oxidation of sulfides, which is a fundamentally important reaction type in both environmental and pharmaceutical industries. The photocatalytic activity of the constructed MOF was first investigated under various conditions with thioanisole as a representative sulfide substrate. The MOF exhibited both high efficiency and selectivity on aerobic oxidation of thioanisole in methanol utilizing molecular oxygen in air as the oxidant under blue light irradiation for 10 h. Its high photocatalytic performance was also observed when extending the sulfide substrate to diverse thioanisole derivatives and even a sulfur-containing nerve agent simulant (2-chloroethyl ethyl sulfide). The high photocatalytic efficiency and selectivity to a broad set of sulfide substrates make the triphenylamine-incorporating zirconium-based MOF a highly promising heterogeneous photocatalyst.

Abstract
A 2D CuNi metal-organic framework (MOF) named CuxNi3-x(HHTP)2 was synthesized with 2,3,6,7,10,11-hexahydroxytriphenylene (HHTP) as the linker and was used as a sensitive scaffold to adsorb aptamer strands for the electrochemical detection of living C6 glioma cells and one of their biomarkers, epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR). Different from conventional MOFs, the CuxNi3-x(HHTP)2 MOF comprises long-range delocalized electrons, a graphene-analog nanostructure, multiple metal states (Cu0/Cu+/Cu2+ and Ni2+/Ni3+), and abundant oxygen vacancies. With these features, the CuxNi3-x(HHTP)2 MOF anchored a large amount of C6 cell-targeted aptamer strands via coordination among metal centers, oligonucleotides, π-π stacking, and van der Waals force. The CuxNi3-x(HHTP)2-based cytosensor showed a low limit of detection (LOD) of 21 cells mL-1 toward C6 glioma cells within a wide range from 50 cells mL-1 to 1 × 105 cells mL-1. Moreover, the proposed aptasensor displayed high selectivity, good stability, acceptable reproducibility, and a low LOD of 0.72 fg mL-1 for detecting EGFR with the concentration ranging from 1 fg mL-1 to 1 ng mL-1. The aptasensor based on the CuxNi3-x(HHTP)2 MOF exhibited superior sensing performance over those based on its monometallic analogues such as Cu3(HHTP)2 MOF and Ni3(HHTP)2 MOF. Hence, this sensing strategy based on a bimetallic semiconducting MOF shows great potential for cancer diagnosis.

Abstract
Specific interactions between ligands and receptors on cell surface play an important role in the cell biological process. Nucleic acid aptamers as commonly used ligands enable specific recognition and tight binding to membrane protein receptors for modulation of cell fate. Therefore, molecular probes with aptamers can be applied for cancer diagnosis and targeted therapy by targeting overexpression membrane proteins of cancer cells. However, because of their fast degradation and rapid glomerulus clearance in vivo, the applications of aptamers in physiological conditions remain challenged. Inspired by natural multivalent interactions, many approaches have been developed to construct multivalent aptamers to improve the performance of aptamers in complex matrices with higher binding affinity, more stability, and longer circulation time. In this review, we first introduce the aptamer generation from purified protein-based SELEX and whole cell-based SELEX for targeting the cell surface. We then highlight the approaches to fabricate multivalent aptamers and discuss their properties. By integrating different materials (including inorganic nanomaterials, diacyllipid, polymeric nanoparticles, and DNA nanostructures) as scaffolds with an interface modification technique, we have summarized four kinds of multivalent aptamers. After that, representative applications in biosensing and targeted therapy are illustrated to show the elevated performance of multivalent aptamers. In addition, we analyze the challenges and opportunities for the clinical practices of multivalent aptamers.

Abstract
Iron-based metal-organic framework, NH2-MIL-101(Fe), was doped with different dosages of cobalt phthalocyanine nanoparticles (CoPc) to synthesize a series of NH2-MIL-101(Fe)@CoPc nanocomposites. The NH2-MIL-101(Fe)@CoPc nanocomposites were then employed to construct novel impedimetric aptasensors for the detection of ochratoxin A (OTA). Combining the intrinsic advantages of NH2-MIL-101(Fe) (highly porous structure and excellently electrochemical activity) and CoPc (good physiochemical stability and strong bioaffinity), the NH2-MIL-101(Fe)@CoPc nanocomposites show promising properties, which are beneficial for immobilizing OTA-targeted aptamer strands. Amongst, the developed impedimetric aptasensor based on NH2-MIL-101(Fe)@CoPc6:1, prepared using the mass ratio of NH2-MIL-101(Fe):CoPc of 6:1, exhibits the best amplified electrochemical signal and highest sensitivity for detecting OTA. The detection limitation is 0.063 fg·mL-1 within the OTA concentration of 0.0001-100 pg·mL-1, accompanying with high selectivity, good reproducibility and stability, acceptable regenerability, and wide applicability in diverse real samples. Consequently, the proposed sensing strategy can be applied for detecting OTA to cope with food safety.

Abstract
This article reviews the progress of diversity of electrochemical aptasensor for target analytes detection. The immobilization strategies of aptamers on an electrode surface are addressed. The aptasensors are also introduced in compliance with the assay platforms. Many electrochemical aptasensors are nearly identical to conventional immunochemical approaches, sandwich and competition assays using electroactive signaling moieties. Others are "signal-on" and "sign-off" aptasensors credited to the target binding-induced conformational change of aptamers. Label-free aptasensors are also highlighted. Furthermore, the aptasensors applied for clinically important biomarkers are emphasized.

Abstract
Antigen galectin-3 (GL-3), a member of β-galactoside proteins indicates cardiac fibrosis and is a significant biomarker for monitoring heart failure risk and death risk. In this study, a novel sensitive amperometric method for antigen GL-3 detection is developed based on gold nanoparticle-functionalized graphitic carbon nitride nanosheets (g-C3N4@Au NPs) as the sensor platform and Ti-based metal organic framework (Ti-MOF, NH2-MIL-125)@covalent organic frameworks (COFs) composite for the signal amplification. The Ti-MOF@COF composite not only facilitates the penetration of antibody proteins into pore channels, but also the highly stable antigen-antibody interactions. The prepared sensor platform and signal amplification material are characterized by transmission electron microscopy (TEM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD) method, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), UV-vis spectroscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), cyclic voltammetry (CV) and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). The amperometric technique is utilized to achieve antigen GL-3 detection in plasma samples. The immunosensor demonstrates a wide linearity range (0.0001-20.0 ng mL-1) and a low detection limit (0.025 pg mL-1). Finally, the prepared immunosensor shows high stability and selectivity under optimum conditions.

Abstract
The fabrication of a magnetically controlled colorimetric aptasensor for chlorpyrifos is reported. The aptasensor was fabricated by the attachment of the colorimetric labels onto the magnetic carrier due to the hybridization reaction between the complementary DNA and aptamer. Chlorpyrifos detection was realized by monitoring the color changes of the TMB/H2O2 solution before and after incubation of the aptasensor with chlorpyrifos via exposure to external magnetic force. The color change was monitored at 650 nm by UV-Vis spectrophotometer. Under the optimal conditions, this magnetically controlled Cu-MOF-based aptasensor showed a detection limit of 4.4 ng/mL with a linear range of 0-1250 ng/mL. The colorimetric aptasensor displayed high selectivity for chlorpyrifos toward other interfering pesticides. The aptasensor was successfully applied for the spiked test of chlorpyrifos in fruits and vegetable samples with good recovery, which were in agreement with data obtained by GC-MS analysis. This magnetically controlled Cu-MOF-based sensing strategy not only leads to development of efficient and facile phase separation, but also expands the MOF's target scope from H2O2 or glucose to pesticides. Abstract
It is urgent to develop a more simple and sensitive method to detect antibiotic residues considering the harm of antibiotic residues in food to the human body. Herein we designed a label-free electrochemical DNA biosensor for the sensitive detection of kanamycin (KAN) based on diblock DNA with a 15-mer of poly-cytosine (poly-C). The diblock DNA can be immobilized on graphene oxide (GO) due to strong physical adsorption between the 15-mer of poly-C and GO. The aptamer of KAN acted as the other block for rapidly binding the target. It can specifically capture the target, which leads to the change of electrochemical signal. Consequently, the DNA biosensor exhibited high sensitivity and specificity towards KAN, the linear range was from 0.05 pM to 100 nM with a detection limit of 0.0476 pM. The developed DNA biosensor was constructed easily and showed promising applications for the detection of antibiotic residues for food safety.

Abstract
The increase in demand and popularity of smart textiles brings new and innovative ideas to develop a diverse range of textile-based devices for our daily life applications. Smart textile-based sensors (TEX sensors) become attractive due to the potential to replace current solid-state sensor devices with flexible and wearable devices. We have developed a smart textile sensor for humidity detection using a metal-organic framework (MOF) as an active thin-film layer. We show for the first time the use of the Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) technique for the deposition of a MIL-96(Al) MOF thin film directly onto the fabrics containing interdigitated textile electrodes for the fabrication of a highly selective humidity sensor. The humidity sensors were made from two different types of textiles, namely, linen and cotton, with the linen-based sensor giving the best response due to better coverage of MOF. The TEX sensor showed a reproducible response after multiple cycles of measurements. After 3 weeks of storage, the sensor showed a moderate decrease in response. Moreover, TEX sensors showed a high level of selectivity for the detection of water vapors in the presence of several volatile organic compounds (VOCs). Interestingly, the selectivity is superior to some of the previously reported MOF-coated solid-state interdigitated electrode devices and textile sensors. The method herein described is generic and can be extended to other textiles and coating materials for the detection of toxic gases and vapors.

Abstract
Partially- and fully-unzipped nitrogen-doped carbon nanotubes (NCNTs) were prepared by unzipping pristine NCNTs and three carbon nanostructures were applied to support Au nanoparticles (AuNPs) to form nanocomposites (Au/NCNTs, Au/PU-NCNTs, and Au/FU-NCNTs). The electrochemical behavior and the electrocatalytic activities of the nanocomposite-modified electrodes were examined. The oxygen functional groups, doped N content, and AuNP loaded concentrations are dependent on the unzipping-degree and then affect the electrochemical response and electrocatalytic performance of the electrodes. Besides, the three nanocomposites were also used for the immobilization of carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) aptamer strands and applied for the detection of CEA. The Au/FU-NCNTs possess the optimal electrocatalytic activity and biosensing performance for the biomolecules and CEA, which is attributed to the maximum loaded AuNPs, the largest specific surface areas and the most active sites. The Au/FU-NCNT-based electrochemical aptasensor exhibits high sensitivity with a low detection limit of 6.84 pg mL-1 within a broad linear range of CEA concentration from 0.01 to 10 ng mL-1. All of these results indicate that the Au/FU-NCNTs may be a potential support for construction of aptasensors with high electrochemical effect and can be employed in the fields of biosensing or biomedical diagnosis.

Abstract
There is an increasing demand to establish a convenient and stable analytical methodology for screening multiplex tumor markers in early diagnosis of cancers. In this work, an innovative fluorescence method is proposed for simultaneous detection of alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) and carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA). A polydopamine nanosphere@silver nanocluster (PDAN@AgNC) system is introduced for fluorescence quenching and recovery. The AgNCs with different emissions are synthesized using different DNA templates, which also contain aptamer sequences towards AFP and CEA, respectively. These single-stranded DNA sequences could be adsorbed on the surface of the PDAN through π-π stacking, which results in the quenching of AgNCs. However, in the presence of the corresponding tumor marker, the aptamer/target complex forms which releases AgNCs from the surface of the PDAN and the recovered fluorescence could be used to indicate the concentration of the tumor marker. This PDAN@AgNC system has been validated preliminarily to screen human serum samples with excellent results. Taking advantages of simplicity, enzyme/antibody-free nature, low cost and convenient operation, the proposed biosensor has great potential to be used in biomedical research studies and clinical diagnosis.

Abstract
We report here a new bimetallic ZrHf metal-organic framework (ZrHf-MOF) embedded with abundant carbon dots (CDs) (denoted as CDs@ZrHf-MOF), which exhibits strong fluorescence and rich-amino-functionalization. The CDs@ZrHf-MOF can be applied as the scaffold for anchoring aptamer strands to determine human epidermal growth factor receptor-2 (HER2) and living HER2-overexpressed MCF-7 cells. The basic characterizations reveal that the CDs are embedded within the interior cavities of ZrHf-MOF without varying the nanostructure, leading to good biocompatibility, strong fluorescence, and high electrochemical activity of CDs@ZrHf-MOF. As compared with the pristine ZrHf-MOF, the CDs@ZrHf-MOF-based electrochemical aptasensor displays better sensing performances toward both HER-2 and MCF-7 cells, giving an extremely low detection limit of 19 fg mL-1 (HER2 concentration range: 0.001-10 ng mL-1) and 23 cell mL-1 (cell concentration range: 1 × 102~1 × 105 cell mL-1), with good selectivity, stability, reproducibility, and acceptable applicability. The proposed strategy for developing CDs@ZrHf-MOF-based aptasensor is promising for the early and sensitive detection of cancer markers and living cancer cells.

Abstract
Porous organic framework (COF) nanomaterials have drawn increasing attention and showed promising potential in the applications of various fields. Nevertheless, its applications in biosensing or biomedical fields are still in the early stage. In this work, we designed and synthesized a series of nanohybrids of COF and Ce-based metal organic framework (Ce-MOF) for the first time as label-free bioplatforms for a sensitive electrochemical aptasensor to detect oxytetracycline (OTC). A novel kinds of Ce-MOF@COF hybrids were prepared by adding different dosages of COF, into the preparation system of Ce-MOF, for which COF was synthesized using melamine and cyanutic acidmonomers through polycondensation (represented by MCA). Basic characterizations revealed that Ce-MOF@MCA nanohybrids not only remained their orignal crystal and chemical structure and features, such as different Ce species containing in Ce-MOF (Ce3+ and Ce4+), various functional amino-groups of MCA, and individual frameworks, but also showed a large specific surface area and interpenetrated morphologies. As a result, the Ce-MOF@MCA hybrid with high content of MCA exhibited high bioaffinity toward the OTC-targeted aptamer, further leading to the incremental detection effect for OTC detection. Among different hybrid-based aptasensors, the Ce-MOF@MCA-based one with an MCA dosage of 500 mg exhibited the lowest limit of detection at 17.4 fg mL-1 within a wider linearity of the OTC concentration within 0.1-0.5 ng mL-1. Additionally, the fabricated aptasensor displayed excellent analytical performance with great reproducibility, high selectivity and stability, and acceptable applicability for detecting OTC in various aqueous solutions, including milk, wastewater, and urine samples. This new Ce-MOF@MCA hybrid will become an excellent aptasensors platform for detecting various analytes, such as antibiotics, heavy metal ions, or cancer markers, and it have shown the promissing application potentials in the fields of biomedicine, food safety and environmental monitoring.
