Abstract
The optoelectronic, electrocatalytic, and photocatalytic properties of new tin selenides are of great significance for various energy applications. Herein, a facile solvothermal reaction of Sn, Se, and MnCl2 in 1,3-propodiamine (1,3-dap) solution at 150 °C for 7 days was used to achieve a new type of one-dimensional (1D) organic hybrid manganese-tin selenide [Mn2(1,3-dap)4(μ-1,3-dap)Sn2Se6]n (MnSnSe-1), whose 1D framework is built up from the linkage of rare unsaturated binuclear [Mn2(1,3-dap)4(μ-1,3-dap)]2+ cations and dimeric [Sn2Se6]4- anions. The combination of MnSnSe-1 and Ni nanoparticle is first applied for the preparation of a Ni/MnSnSe-1/NF electrode (NF = porous Ni foam) as the efficient electrocatalyst for the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER), indicating excellent HER electrocatalytic property with an overpotential of 117 mV at 10 mA·cm-2 in a neutral medium. Owing to its narrow absorption edge of 1.65 eV, implying prominent harvesting ability in the visible-light region, MnSnSe-1 shows a remarkable photocurrent response and excellent visible-light-driven photocatalytic property for the degradation of methylene blue in aqueous solution.

Abstract
Metal chalcogenide supertetrahedral Tn clusters are of current interest for their unique compositions and structures, which rely highly on the structure-directing agents. Herein, we report four novel Tn cluster-based indium and gallium sulfides, namely, [NH(CH3)3]4In4S10H4 (1), (NH3)4Ga4S6 (2), [NH3CH2CH3]5(NH2CH2CH3)2Ga11S19 (3), and [NH3CH2CH2OH]6Ga10S18·2NH2CH2CH2OH (4). All four compounds were solvothermally synthesized in mixed amine-ethanol solutions or deep eutectic solvent (DES), where ammonia/amine molecules play significant structure-directing roles in the speciation and crystal growth. (1) Being protonated, the trimethylamine and ethanolamine molecules surround the T2-[In4S10H4]4- clusters (for 1) and [Ga10S18]n6n- open framework (for 4), respectively, compensating for the negative charge of the inorganic moieties. (2) With the lone pair of electrons, the ammonia molecules in 2 coordinate directly to corner Ga3+ ions of the {Ga4S6} cage to give a neutral T2-(NH3)4Ga4S6 cluster. (3) For compound 3, part of the ethylamine molecules act as terminating ligands for the T1 and T3 units in the [Ga11S19(NH2CH2CH3)2]n5n- layer, while the rest act as interlamellar countercations upon protonation. Theoretical studies reveal the contributions of N, C, and H to the density of states (DOS) for 2 and 3 because of their hybrid structures that combine the ammonia/amine ligands with sulfide moieties together.

Abstract
Dimensional reduction of superconducting anti PbO-type iron selenide has been achieved by terminating the tetragonal square layers of FeSe4/4 tetrahedra by ethylenediamine (en) ligands. We obtained three new structures in the Fe-Se-en system. Fe3Se4(en)3 contains FeSe2 single chains bridged via Fe(en)3 complexes. Fe10Se12(en)7 has Fe2Se3 double strands separated by Fe(en)3 complexes and free en molecules. Fe0.85Se(en)0.3 conserves the tetragonal layers of bulk FeSe which are now widely separated by en molecules. Through systematic dilution of the solvent we were able to introduce an additional parameter in solvothermal synthesis and thus have control over the connectivity of the tetrahedra. Additionally, a phase diagram of the Fe-Se-en system is generated by variation of the reaction temperature. The magnetic properties of the FeSe derivatives range from superconductivity and antiferromagnetism to paramagnetism.

Abstract
We describe the soft chemistry synthesis of amine-templated gallium chalcogenide nanotubes through the reaction of gallium(iii) acetylacetonate and the chalcogen (sulfur, selenium) using a mixture of long-chain amines (hexadecylamine and dodecylamine) as a solvent. Beyond their role as solvent, the amines also act as a template, directing the growth of discrete units with a one-dimensional multilayer tubular nanostructure. These new materials, which broaden the family of amine-stabilized gallium chalcogenides, can be tentatively classified as direct large band gap semiconductors. Their preliminary performance as active material for electrodes in lithium ion batteries has also been tested, demonstrating great potential in energy storage field even without optimization.

Abstract
The synthesis and characterization of five new indium selenides, [C9H17N2]3[In5Se(8+x)(Se2)(1-x)] (1-2), [C6H12N2]4[C6H14N2]3[In10Se15(Se2)3] (3), [C6H14N2][(C6H12N2)2NaIn5Se9] (4) and [enH2][NH4][In7Se12] (5), are described. These materials were prepared under solvothermal conditions, using 1,8-diazabicyclo[5.4.0]undec-7-ene (DBU) and 1,4-diazabicyclo[2.2.2]octane (DABCO) as structure-directing agents. Compounds 1-4 represent the first examples of ribbons in indium selenides, and 4 is the first example of incorporation of an alkali metal complex. Compounds 1, 2 and 4 contain closely related [In5Se(8+x)(Se2)(1-x)](3-) ribbons which differ only in their content of (Se2)(2-) anions. These ribbons are interspaced by organic countercations in 1 and 2, while in 4 they are linked by highly unusual [Na(DABCO)2](+) units into a three-dimensional framework. Compound 3 contains complex ribbons, with a long repeating sequence of ca. 36 Å, and 4 is a non-centrosymmetric three-dimensional framework, formed as a consequence of the decomposition of DABCO into ethylenediamine (en) and ammonia.

Abstract
Presented here are three organic-decorated manganese selenidostannates with various structural dimensionalities (D), namely, 1D – SnSe3Mn(en)2 (en = ethylenediamine) (1), 2D – SnSe3Mn(en) (2) and 3D – MnSnSe4Mn(en)2 (3). 2 and 3 represent the first 2D and 3D organic-decorated Mn–Sn–Se compounds, respectively. A structural transformation was observed between 1 and 2.

Abstract
Three new indium sulfides, [Ni(dien)2]0.5[InS2] (dien = diethylenetriamine) (1), [Ni(dap)3]0.5[InS2] (dap = 1,2-diaminopropane) (2), and [Ni(tepa)]2[In4S7(SH)2].H2O (tepa = tetraethylenepentamine) (3), have been prepared under solvothermal conditions and characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. Compounds 1 and 2 consist of discrete 1-D {[InS2]-} infinity chains with complex cations as charge-compensating ions, while compound 3 consists of a novel 1-D anionic chain constructed from arachno-shaped In4S11 clusters. The sulfide chain of 3 coordinates into the complex cations via the nonterminal S atoms of the polymeric anion, forming a covalently linked organic-inorganic hybrid compound.
