Abstract
In the present era, the fixation of atmospheric CO2 is of significant importance and plays a crucial role in maintaining the balance of carbon and energy flow within ecosystems. Generally, CO2 fixation is carried out by autotrophic organisms; however, the scientific community has paid substantial attention to execute this process in laboratory. In this report, we synthesized two carbonato-bridged trinuclear copper(II) complexes, [Cu3(L1)3(μ3-CO3)](ClO4)3 (1) and [Cu3(L2)3(μ3-CO3)](ClO4)3 (2) via atmospheric fixation of CO2 starting with Cu(ClO4)2·6H2O and easily accessible pyridine/pyrazine-based N4 donor Schiff base ligands L1 and L2, respectively. Under very similar reaction conditions, the ligand framework embedded with the phenolate moiety (HL3) fails to do so because of the reduction of the Lewis acidity of the metal center, inhibiting the formation of a reactive hydroxide bound copper(II) species, which is required for the fixation of atmospheric CO2. X-ray crystal structures display that carbonate-oxygen atoms bridge three copper(II) centers in μ3syn-anti disposition in 1 and 2, whereas [Cu(HL3)(ClO4)] (3) is a mononuclear complex. Interestingly, we also isolated an important intermediate of atmospheric CO2 fixation and structurally characterized it as an anti-anti μ2 carbonato-bridged dinuclear copper(II) complex, [Cu2(L2)2(μ2-CO3)](ClO4)2·MeOH (2-I), providing an in-depth understanding of CO2 fixation in these systems. Variable temperature magnetic susceptibility measurement suggests ferromagnetic interactions between the metal centers in both 1 and 2, and the results have been further supported by DFT calculations. The catalytic efficiency of our synthesized complexes 1-3 was checked by means of catechol oxidase and phenoxazinone synthase-like activities. While complexes 1 and 2 showed oxidase-like activity for aerobic oxidation of o-aminophenol and 3,5-di-tert-butylcatechol, complex 3 was found to be feebly active. ESI mass spectrometry revealed that the oxidation reaction proceeds through the formation of complex-substrate intermediations and was further substantiated by DFT calculations. Moreover, active catalysts 1 and 2 were effectively utilized for the base-free oxidation of benzylic alcohols in the presence of air as a green and sustainable oxidant and catalytic amount of TEMPO in acetonitrile. Various substituted benzylic alcohols smoothly converted to their corresponding aldehydes under very mild conditions and ambient temperature. The present catalytic protocol showcases its environmental sustainability by producing minimal waste.

Abstract
This manuscript reports on the synthesis and characterization of a new polymeric copper complex ([Cu3(DMAP)8(μ3-CO3)2]I2) n ·xH2O and its successful application in C-O and C-S cross coupling reactions for the synthesis of biologically important phenoxypyrimidine and arylthiopyrimidine scaffolds. In an attempt to synthesize [Cu(DMAP)4I]I by adopting a procedure reported by Roy et al. with slight modification, the authors discovered a new polymeric Cu-complex that contains μ3-CO3 bridges. The polymeric linear structure of the complex was established using single crystal X-ray analysis. FT-IR, UV-vis and DSC studies were also performed on the polymeric complex. This novel polymeric Cu-complex was found to efficiently catalyse C-O/C-S cross coupling reactions between chloropyrimidines and phenols/thiophenols in an aqueous medium within a short reaction time, delivering their corresponding phenoxypyrimidines and arylthiopyrimidines. Using this protocol, 22 phenoxypyrimidines and 6 arylthiopyrimidines were successfully synthesized. The synthesized novel compounds were well characterized using 1H and 13C NMR spectroscopy and HRMS analysis and were screened for their drug-likeness properties using the SwissADME webtool.

Abstract
Coordination hosts based on flexible ligands have received increasing attention due to their inherent adaptive cavities that often show induced-fit guest binding and catalysis like enzymes. Herein, we report the controlled self-assembly of a series of homo/heterometallic coordination hosts (Me4enPd)2n(ML)n [n = 2/3; M = Zn(ii)/Co(ii)/Ni(ii)/Cu(ii)/Pd(ii)/Ag(i); Me4en: N,N,N′,N′-tetramethylethylenediamine] with different shapes (tube/cage) from a flexible tetraazacyclododecane-based pyridinyl ligand (L) and cis-blocking Me4enPd(ii) units. While the Ag(i)-metalated ligand (AgL) gave rise to the formation of a (Me4enPd)4(ML)2-type cage, all other M(ii) ions led to isostructural (Me4enPd)6(ML)3-type tubular complexes. Structural transformations between cages and tubes could be realized through transmetalation of the ligand. The buffering effect on the ML panels endows the coordination tubes with remarkable acid–base resistance, which makes the (Me4enPd)6(ZnL)3 host an effective catalyst for the CO2 to CO32− conversion. Control experiments suggested that the integration of multiple active Zn(ii) sites on the tubular host and the perfect geometry match between CO32− and the cavity synergistically promoted such a conversion. Our results provide an important strategy for the design of adaptive coordination hosts to achieve efficient carbon fixation. A series of coordination hosts were prepared and their applications in CO2 fixation were studied.![]()

Abstract
The formation of the symmetrical μ3-carbonate-bridged self-assembled trinuclear NiII complex Na2{[Ni(LO)2(H2O)]3(μ3-CO3)} (LO is the carboxylate anion of a L-tyrosine derivative), involves atmospheric CO2 uptake. The asymmetric unit of the complex comprises an octahedral coordination for the NiII with two L-tyrosine-based ligands, a water molecule and one O atom of the carbonate bridge. The Ni3-μ3-CO3 core in this compound is the first reported of this kind according to the Cambridge Structural Database (CSD). The supramolecular structure is mainly sustained by hydrogen bonds developed by the phenolic functionality of the L-tyrosine moiety of one ligand and the carboxylate group of a neighbouring ligand. The crystal packing is then characterized by three interpenetrated supramolecular helices associated with a diastereoisomer of the type R-supP, which is essential for the assembly process. Magnetic susceptibility and magnetization data support weak ferromagnetic exchange interactions within the novel Ni3-μ3-CO3 core. The NiII complex obtained under the same synthetic conditions but using the analogous ligand derived from the amino acid L-phenylalanine instead of L-tyrosine gives rise to to a mononuclear octahedral system. The results obtained for the different complexes demonstrate the role of the supramolecular structure regarding the CO2 uptake property for these NiII-amino-acid-based systems.

Abstract
A novel nonanuclear nickel(ii) cluster identified as [Ni9(OH)6(CO3)2(ba)8(Hdmpz)6(DMF)2]·EtOH·2DMF (SD/Ni9a, Hba = benzoic acid, Hdmpz = 3,5-dimethyl-1H-pyrazole) is successfully constructed from mixed ligands. The single-crystal X-ray diffraction (SCXRD) structural analysis confirms the composition and reveals the "drum-like" inner core structure surrounded by ba- and DMF. Six Hdmpz ligands in their neutral form further sandwich the "drum" up and down, and is hydrogen bonded with two carbonate anions that are derived from the atmospheric CO2 with the help of Et3N. Electrospray ionization mass spectrometry (ESI-MS) reveals that the SD/Ni9a maintains an intact core in the solution with a slight exchange of outer ligands. Detailed collision-induced dissociation (CID) experiments reveal the collision energy (CE)-promoted ligand loss and exchange between ba- and Hdmpz. Furthermore, the magnetic study shows that there is no interaction between the Ni centers at room temperature, whereas the ferromagnetic coupling between the Ni centers is found with an S = 3 spin ground state of the cluster at low temperature. Moreover, the UV-vis spectrum and the photocurrent response measurements show its good optical properties with an indirect bandgap of about 2.35 eV and fast current response upon visible light irradiation.

Abstract
The 2,4,6-triethylbenzene-capped hexaamine macrobicycle with pyridyl spacers (pyr) was able to coordinate three copper(II) ions within its cavity. Potentiometric studies performed at 298.2 K in MeOH/H(2)O (50:50 v/v) and at ionic strength 0.10 mol dm(-3) in KNO(3) revealed that trinuclear species predominate in solution from pH 5.0, the hydroxo complexes being the main species, which start forming at unusual very low pH values. The single-crystal X-ray determination of the trinuclear complex showed that the three copper centres have square-planar geometry, arranged in an almost equilateral triangle, and have carbonate bridging the three metal centres. The presence of carbonate resulted from fixation of atmospheric CO(2). The present study represents the first μ(3)-CO(3)-bridged trinuclear copper(II) complex located in the interior of a macrobicyclic cavity. The magnetic data of [Cu(3)(pyr)(μ(3)-CO(3))]·(ClO(4))(4) showed ferromagnetic intramolecular interactions [J=3.80 cm(-1), based on the Hamiltonian H=-J(S(1)S(2)+S(2)S(3)+S(1)S(3))] yielding a spin quartet, S=3/2, ground state. Density functional calculations on the experimental geometry of the trinuclear complex showed that the ferromagnetic nature of the magnetic coupling can be attributed to the syn-anti conformation of the carbonato bridge, and a magneto-structural correlation, based on the different conformations (syn-anti, syn-syn and anti-anti), is presented. The interesting properties observed, namely the lowering of the pK(a) of coordinated water molecules to unusual values and the good fit of the carbonate anion between the copper centres, derive from the special architecture of pyr.

Abstract
Two new nickel(II) complexes [Ni(2)L(2)(PhCOO)(2)(H(2)O)] (1), [Ni(2)L(2)(PhCH(2)COO)(2)(H(2)O)] (2) have been synthesized using a tridentate Schiff base ligand, HL (2-[(3-dimethylamino-propylimino)-methyl]-phenol) and the carboxylate monoanions, benzoate and phenylacetate, respectively. The complexes have been characterized by spectral analysis, variable temperature magnetic susceptibility measurement and crystal structure analysis. The structural analyses reveal that both complexes are dinuclear in which the distorted octahedral Ni(2+) ions share a face, bridged by one water molecule and two μ(2)-phenoxo oxygen atoms. A monodentate benzoate or phenylacetate anion and two nitrogen atoms of the chelating deprotonated Schiff base (L) complete the hexa-coordination around the metal ion. Variable-temperature magnetic susceptibility studies indicate the presence of dominant ferromagnetic exchange coupling in complexes 1 and 2 with J values of 11.1(2) and 10.9(2) cm(-1) respectively. An attempt has been made to rationalize the observed magneto-structural behavior considering the importance of the additional water bridge in the present two complexes and also in other similar species.

Abstract
A high-spin Co(II) cluster with a rare pentagonal molecular structure and formula [Co(5)(CO(3))(2)(bpp)(5)]ClO(4) (1; Hbpp is 2,6-bis(phenyliminomethyl)-4-methylphenolate) has been synthesized and characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. This topology arises from fusing five [Co(2)(bpp)] moieties in a cyclic manner around two CO(3)(2-) central ligands, resulting in propeller-like configuration. The irregular coordination of the carbonate ions to the metal centers results in a combination of coordination numbers (CNs) of the Co(II) ions of five and six. The bulk magnetization of this complicated magnetically exchanged system has been modeled successfully by employing a matrix diagonalization technique. For this, the combination of S=3/2 ions (CN=5) with ions exhibiting strong spin-orbit coupling (CN=6) has been considered and a perturbative approach to handle the data in the whole studied range of temperatures (2-300 K) yielding parameters of g and D (for the five-coordinate Co(II) ions), of A, κ, λ, and Δ (for the metals with spin-orbit coupling) and of the exchange constants J. The agreement with results from DFT calculations, also presented here, is remarkable.
