Abstract
Allylation and propargylation are two powerful synthetic strategies for making new substances that have been of significant importance in chemistry, medicine, and material fields. Conventional tactics employ various preformed allylation and propargylation reagents. In this study, a conceptually novel copper-catalyzed and B2pin2-mediated Umpolung reactivity of propargylic carbonates has been achieved for the first time, realizing both allylation and propargylation of aldehydes and ketones without additional reductants. Three types of allylation products and one type of propargylation product are generated efficiently, and all allylation products are formed with syn-configurations predominantly. The choice of ligands plays a vital role in modulating the Umpolung modes. The synthetic applications have been demonstrated in a myriad of further transformations including natural product synthesis, and systematic mechanistic studies have been conducted to reveal detailed insights into the Umpolung processes.

Abstract
A highly efficient regio- and stereoselective method for allenoate borylation has been developed. Using CuCl and bis(pinacolato)diboron in methanol, a variety of allenoates underwent β-boration and α-protonation to afford the corresponding Z-β,γ-unsaturated β-boryl esters under mild conditions with up to 81% yields.

Abstract
While the formation and breaking of transition metal (TM)-carbon bonds plays a pivotal role in the catalysis of organic compounds, the reactivity of inorganometallic species, that is, those involving the transition metal (TM)-metalloid (E) bond, is of key importance in most conversions of metalloid derivatives catalyzed by TM complexes. This Review presents the background of inorganometallic catalysis and its development over the last 15 years. The results of mechanistic studies presented in the Review are related to the occurrence of TM-E and TM-H compounds as reactive intermediates in the catalytic transformations of selected metalloids (E = B, Si, Ge, Sn, As, Sb, or Te). The Review illustrates the significance of inorganometallics in catalysis of the following processes: addition of metalloid-hydrogen and metalloid-metalloid bonds to unsaturated compounds; activation and functionalization of C-H bonds and C-X bonds with hydrometalloids and bismetalloids; activation and functionalization of C-H bonds with vinylmetalloids, metalloid halides, and sulfonates; and dehydrocoupling of hydrometalloids. This first Review on inorganometallic catalysis sums up the developments in the catalytic methods for the synthesis of organometalloid compounds and their applications in advanced organic synthesis as a part of tandem reactions.

Abstract
Any attempt to facilitate a new generation of C-B bonds represents a useful tool in organic synthesis. In addition, if that approach highlights the nucleophilic character of boryl moieties in the absence of transition metal complexes, the challenge to create new reactive platforms becomes an opportunity. We have been deeply involved in the experimental and theoretical validation of C-B bond formation by means of alkoxide activation of tetra-alkoxy diboron reagents and here is presented a convenient guide to understand the concept and the applications.

Abstract
A catalytic enantioselective conjugate addition with commercially available allenylboronic acid pinacol ester as nucleophile promoted by a chiral copper complex of N-heterocyclic carbene (NHC) is disclosed. This process constitutes an unprecedented instance of the conjugate addition that introduces an allenyl group into α,β-unsaturated carbonyl compounds, affording products that are otherwise difficult to access in up to 92% yield, >98% allenyl addition selectivity and 96:4 enantiomeric ratio. DFT calculations were performed to elucidate the origins of enantioselectivity.

Abstract
A highly regioselective iodosulfonylation of allenes in the presence of CuI and 1,10-phenanthroline has been developed for the synthesis of various useful ( E)-α-iodomethyl vinylsulfones in moderate to excellent yields. This practical reaction is fast, operationally simple, and in particular, proceeds under very mild conditions to afford the target products with high regio- and stereoselectivity. The selectivity was illustrated by a conceptual DFT analysis.

Abstract
This review is a guided tour along the activation modes and reactivity of B-B, B-Si, B-N, B-S, B-Se and B-P reagents, in the absence of any transition metal complex. Here are disclosed the general concepts related to the homolytic and heterolytic cleavage of B-B and B-interelement bonds, as well as the generation of new C-B and C-interelement bonds, in a selective way. The greener consequences of these novel routes facilitate the gram scale preparations of target functionalised organic compounds. Intrinsic data about the suggested mechanisms and spectroscopic evidence that supports the innovative theories are provided along the review. Since this is a stimulating area of work that has emerged within the last decade, this overview serves as the basis to understand the new trends and hopefully to generate inspiration for future discoveries in the field.

Abstract
Although known for over 90 years, only in the past two decades has the chemistry of diboron(4) compounds been extensively explored. Many interesting structural features and reaction patterns have emerged, and more importantly, these compounds now feature prominently in both metal-catalyzed and metal-free methodologies for the formation of B-C bonds and other processes.

Abstract
The title compound, C19H29BO3, was prepared by the reaction of 1-(hex-1-yn-1-yloxy)-3-methylbenzene in tetrahydrofuran with 4,4,5,5-tetramethyl-1,3,2-dioxaborolane under a nitrogen atmosphere. In the molecule, the butyl group adopts an extended conformation, with a torsion angle of 179.52 (19)°. The dioxaborolane ring has a twisted conformation on the C—C bond, and its mean plane is inclined to the 3-methylphenyl ring by 44.79 (19)°. In the crystal, there are no significant intermolecular interactions present.

Abstract
A new copper‐catalyzed reaction for the stereo‐ and regioselective synthesis of alkenyl diboronates and allenyl boronates is presented. In this process propargyl derivatives of strained three/four‐membered rings were employed as substrates and B2pin2 was used as the boronate source. Selective formation of the alkenyl diboronate versus the allenyl boronate products was controlled by the choice of phosphine ligand.

Abstract
Arylboration of vinylarenes and methyl crotonate with aryl halides and bis(pinacolato)diboron by cooperative Pd/Cu catalysis has been developed, giving 2-boryl-1,1-diarylethanes and an α-aryl-β-boryl ester in a regioselective manner. The reaction is compatible with a variety of functionalities and amenable to be scaled-up to a gram scale with no detriment to the yield. A short synthesis of the biologically active compound CDP840 was performed using the present reaction as a key step.

Abstract
Regioselective methods for allene hydrosilylation have been developed, with regioselectivity being governed primarily by the choice of metal. Alkenylsilanes are produced via nickel catalysis with larger N-heterocyclic carbene (NHC) ligands, and allylsilanes are produced via palladium catalysis with smaller NHC ligands. These complementary methods allow either regioisomeric product to be obtained with exceptional regiocontrol.

Abstract
It has been demonstrated that the interaction of a simple Lewis base with tetraalkoxydiboranes generates an unusual nucleophilic character in one of the boryl moieties. The interaction of amines, N-heterocyclic carbenes (NHCs), and alkoxides with a diboron reagent results in the formation of a Lewis acid–base adduct, in which the formally intact sp2 boryl moiety becomes nucleophilic. We describe in this work the application of this new type of nucleophilic boron synthon in the selective preparation of organoboranes through β-boration and diboration reactions.
