Abstract
The chemistry of bis(π-η5:σ-η1-pentafulvene)titanium complexes is characterized by a broad range of E-H activation and Ti-C functionalization reactions, whereas ferrocene derivatives are easily accessible and redox-active compounds. The reaction of ferrocenealdehyde and -ketones with bis(π-η5:σ-η1-pentafulvene)titanium complexes result in the formation of bimetallic complexes via insertion of the C=O double bond of the aldehyde/ketone into the Ti-Cexo bond of the pentafulvene moiety. The reaction of bis(π-η5:σ-η1-pentafulvene)titanium complexes with ferrocenyl alcohols leads to alcoholate complexes via deprotonation of the OH group by the pentafulvene ligand. Because of the one remaining pentafulvene unit, further functionalization of the complexes is possible. In this work, we proceeded with 1,1'-bifunctionalized ferrocene derivatives for intramolecular follow-up reactions. 1,1'-Ferrocenedimethanol reacts with bis(π-η5:σ-η1-pentafulvene)titanium complexes in a double O-H deprotonation reaction to yield the dialcoholate complex. 1,1'-bis(phenylphosphine)ferrocene reacts differently as the double P-H deprotonation reaction results in the formation of a P-P linked phosphine. Therefore, we studied the reactivity of 1,1'-bis(phenylphosphine)ferrocene toward Rosenthal's reagent. As Rosenthal's reagent is regarded as a masked titanocene(II) species, it undergoes redox reactions toward H-acidic substrates, forming a paramagnetic Ti(III) complex.

Abstract
The reaction of ZrCl4 with three equivalents of LiNCy2 (Cy is cyclo-hex-yl) resulted in the formation of tris-(di-cyclo-hexyl-amido)-zirconium chloride and the title compound, [Zr(C12H22N)4]. The latter is isotypic with its cerium(IV) analogue and crystallizes with three independent mol-ecules in the asymmetric unit. One mol-ecule is located about a twofold rotation axis, and the other two on fourfold inversion axes. In each mol-ecule, the ZrIV atom has a distorted tetra-hedral coordination environment. The crystal under investigation was twinned by inversion in a 1:1 ratio.

Abstract
Ligands with 1,1'-bis(donor)ferrocene motif are capable of a wide range of binding modes, including the trans chelation mode in which there is a Fe-M interaction (κ3 -D,Fe,D), in the form of a dative Fe→TM bond (TM=transition metal). This Minireview will explore the nature of this Fe-TM interaction thorough select examples as well as how to characterize a Fe→TM dative bond using physical, computational, and spectroscopic techniques.

Abstract
The molecular structure of the title compound, [Ti2Cl2(C6H18NSi2)4], shows a binuclear motif of TiIIIatoms, formulated as [Ti(μ-Cl)(N(SiMe3)2)2]2, with two μ-Cl atoms bridging two ((Me3Si)2N)2Ti moieties. The coordination environment of both central TiIIIatoms is distorted tetrahedral, with a nearly planar four-membered Ti2Cl2core [Ti—Cl—Ti—Cl = 2.796 (15)°].

Abstract
Treatment of Cp*Ir N(t)Bu (1) with the appropriate metallocene equivalent is an effective route for the preparation of the heterobimetallic complexes Cp*Ir(μ-N(t)Bu)MCp(2) (2-M, M = Ti, Zr, Hf). The electronic structures of the isostructural series of compounds, 2-M, are described with reference to single-crystal X-ray, Raman, UV-vis, and cyclic voltammetry data. Density functional theory (DFT) calculations were used to aid in the interpretation of this experimental work. Treatment of the zirconium or hafnium congeners with 2,6-lutidinium triflate leads to protonation of the Ir-M bond, to afford Cp*Ir(μ-N(t)Bu)(μ-H)MCp(2)OTf (3-M, M = Zr, Hf). Compound 3-Zr was characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction and independently prepared by the reaction of 1 and Cp(2)Zr(H)Cl in the presence of Me(3)SiOTf. In reactions analogous to those for 2-Zr, 2-Hf reacts with S(8) and aryl azides to insert an S-atom or aryl azide fragment into the metal-metal bond, yielding Cp*Ir(μ-N(t)Bu)(μ-S)HfCp(2) (6-Hf) and Cp*Ir(μ-N(t)Bu)(N(3)Ph)HfCp(2) (4-Hf), respectively. Heating 4-Hf results in N(2) extrusion to form Cp*Ir(μ-N(t)Bu)(NPh)HfCp(2) (5-Hf). The kinetics of the latter reaction were studied to obtain activation parameters and a Hammett trend; these data are compared to those for the analogous reaction involving Ir-Zr heterobimetallics.

Abstract
Aromatic heterocycles are a prominent feature within natural products and pharmaceuticals and considerable efforts are directed toward their synthesis and functionalization. These molecules also appear as unwanted impurities in carbon-based fuels, and processes that fragment them are of increasing interest. Early transition metal-carbon bonds show diverse reactivity toward aromatic heterocycles: researchers have reported both functionalization, relevant to synthetic efforts, and ring opening, relevant to their removal from fuels. In particular, chelating ferrocene-diamides possess unique electronic characteristics as ancillary ligands that enable a wide range of reactivity behaviors for the resulting metal complexes. In this Account, we describe our efforts to understand the reactivity of group 3 metal and uranium alkyl complexes supported by these organometallic ligands toward aromatic N-heterocycles. Two geometrically related ancillary ligands were investigated: 1,1'-ferrocenylene-diamides and pincer-type pyridine-diamides. A substrate-dependent behavior was observed. For example, all the benzyl metal complexes cleaved 1-methylimidazole. In the case of pyridines, differences in reactivity were identified: C-H activation and C-C coupling occurred with substituted pyridines, while alkyl transfer predominated with isoquinoline and chelating pyridines. The products of the C-C coupling or the alkyl-transfer reactions underwent subsequent hydrogen transfer: within the same ring for the substituted pyridines and between two different heterocycles for isoquinoline and chelating pyridines. The comparison between yttrium and lutetium benzyl complexes supported by ferrocene- or pyridine-diamide ligands indicated that similar reactions occurred for specific substrates (1-methylimidazole, 2-picoline, and isoquinoline). A broader range of reaction types and a larger substrate scope were identified, however, for the ferrocene than for the pyridine-type complexes. Based on the reactions discussed in this Account and on isolated examples drawn from the literature, we conclude that the ferrocene-diamides represent a versatile ligand framework. We propose that iron's ability to accommodate changes in the electronic density at the metal center more readily than classical supporting ligands leads to the privileged status of these organometallic ancillary ligands.

Abstract
New unsymmetrical hydroxyferrocenes were synthesised from dibromoferrocene. The oxygen heteroatom was introduced via lithiation and quenching with bis-trimethylsilylperoxide followed by hydrolysis to unmask the hydroxyl functionality. The coordination chemistry of 1'-(diphenylphosphino)-1-hydroxyferrocene 2 was explored with palladium and rhodium precursors. A dinuclear palladium methyl complex with bridging ferrocenyloxo groups was obtained from the reaction between 2 and (cyclooctadiene)methylchloropalladium(II). With tetracarbonyldichlorodirhodium(I), two complexes were isolated. The major product was a bis ligand cis phosphine ligated complex with one ligand bound in a chelating mode and one with a pendant hydroxyl group. A minor product was crystallographically characterised as a dinuclear ferrocenyloxo-bridged rhodium carbonyl complex. The coordination chemistry of 2 and the corresponding phosphine oxide 3 was examined with group 4 metals and the resulting complexes examined as ethylene polymerisation catalysts. The ligands were found to bind in either a chelating fashion or with pendant phosphine donors. In all cases, low to moderately active ethylene polymerisation catalysts were found. The catalysts were very unstable and catalyst residues were observed in the isolated polymer indicating a short catalyst lifetime.

Abstract
A tetradentate bis(ferrocenyldiketonate) ligand, Fc(2)BobH(2), is prepared via Claisen condensation of acetylferrocene and 2,2'-biphenyldiacetyl chloride, and is metalated with titanium(IV) isopropoxide to give (Fc(2)Bob)Ti(O(i)Pr)(2) in good yield. The isopropoxide groups are replaced with di(4-nitrophenyl)phosphate groups on treatment with the corresponding acid, and with chlorides on treatment with trimethylsilyl chloride. Metathesis with catechol leads to the bis(o-hydroxyphenoxide) complex rather than the chelating catecholate complex. Hydrolysis selectively gives the mu-oxo trimer (Delta,Delta,Delta)/(Lambda,Lambda,Lambda)-{(Fc(2)Bob)Ti(mu-O)}(3). The solid-state structures of the mu-oxo trimer and the bis(o-hydroxyphenoxide) complex show that the ferrocene substituents are oriented proximal to the biphenyl backbone rather than pointed out toward the exogenous groups. The complexes show dramatic changes in color depending on the bound anions, ranging from the red isopropoxide (lambda(max) = 489 nm) to the green bis(di(4-nitrophenyl)phosphate) (lambda(max) = 653 nm). The oxidation potentials of the ferrocenes show modest shifts based on the titanium environment, but the redox potentials of the two ferrocenes are never separated by more than 60 mV. These results and those of density-functional theory (DFT) calculations indicate that the titanium interacts principally with the lowest unoccupied molecular orbital (LUMO) of the ferrocenyldiketonate and very little with its highest occupied molecular orbital (HOMO).

Abstract
Oxidation of a uranium(IV) bis(1,1'-diamidoferrocene) gives a compound which is best described as a mixed-valence bisferrocene complex in which uranium mediates the electronic communication.

Abstract
Recent advances in the chemistry of pentafluorophenyl copper are discussed, including the observation of strongly luminescent adducts with pyridine, the first successful structural characterization of an organocopper-arene complex, and the complexation with electron-rich transition metal complexes such as ferrocene derivatives. In addition, new applications in synthetic organometallic chemistry are discussed, which include the discovery of tin/copper exchange reactions for the preparation of organocopper compounds that are otherwise not readily accessible, and the selective transfer of the C(6)F(5) groups to boron to form catalytically active and electronically interesting organoboron polymers.
