Abstract
Herein, we present two unprecedented reactions for the synthesis of γ-butenolides and oxazoles, leveraging Tf2O's promoted reactivity of nitriles with diacetonide endoglucofuranose and 1,2,3,5-tetra-O-acetyl-β-d-ribofuranose. This method is highly efficient and straightforward and employs a one-step, metal-free protocol. It is effective with both aromatic and aliphatic nitriles and demonstrates a broad substrate scope. Our approach provides a versatile and practical pathway for the synthesis of structurally diverse compounds, significantly expanding the utility of Tf2O in synthetic chemistry.

Abstract
The C-H functionalization strategy provides access to valuable molecules that previously required convoluted synthetic attempts. Dual C-H unsymmetrical functionalization, with a single bifunctional reagent, is an effective tactic. Propargyl alcohols (PAs), despite containing a reactive C≡C bond, have not been explored as building blocks via oxidative cleavage. Annulations via C-H activation are a versatile and synthetically attractive strategy. We disclose PA as a new bifunctional reagent for unsymmetrical dual C-H functionalization of biphenylamine for regioselectively annulated outcomes. On tuning the conditions, the annulation bifurcated towards an unusual dual oxidative cyclization. This method accommodates a wide range of PAs and showcases late-stage diversification of some natural products.

Abstract
Gold ions have high activity and cytotoxicity completely different from elemental gold. It is necessary and critical to develop Au3+ detection tools that are easy to operate, intuitive, inexpensive, and non-destructive testing. Here, we propose a novel two-photon fluorescent probe named DA for detecting Au3+, which is a rare combination of dicoumarin with dimethylthiocarbamate for the first time. Based on the PET mechanism, DA turns-on the fluorescence to yellow-green after specifically binds to Au3+, and the reaction is completed within 5 min. The detection limit is as low as 27.60 nM. Simultaneously, DA achieved qualitative and quantitative detection of Au3+ in environmental water samples, and fluorescence imaging of Au3+ in biological cells.

Abstract
A direct and selective synthesis of α,β-unsaturated piperidones by a new palladium-catalyzed cascade carbonylation is described. In the presented protocol, easily available propargylic alcohols react with aliphatic amines to provide a broad variety of interesting heterocycles. Key to the success of this transformation is a remarkable catalytic cleavage of the present carbon-carbon triple bond by using a specific catalyst with 2-diphenylphosphinopyridine as ligand and appropriate reaction conditions. Mechanistic studies and control experiments revealed branched unsaturated acid 11 as crucial intermediate.

Abstract
A highly selective rhodamine hydrazide-based fluorescent chemosensor for Au3+ detection was developed. The aqueous solution of rhodamine N-hydroxysemicarbazide (RHS), in the presence of Au3+, exhibited a significant 55-fold turn-on fluorescence response at 591 nm and a colorimetric change from colorless to pink. Other interested ions including Li+, Na+, K+, Cs+, Mg2+, Ca2+, Ba2+, Pb2+, Mn2+, Co2+, Ni2+, Ag+, Cd2+, Cu2+, Hg2+, Zn2+, Sn2+, Fe2+, Fe3+, Cr3+, Ce3+ did not induce any distinct color/spectral changes. The irreversible detection mechanism occurred via Au3+-promoted 5-exo-trig ring closure to yield 1,3,4-oxadiazole-2-one product. The RHS probe is non-responsive to other biologically relevant metal ions and the limit of detection for Au3+ was calculated to be 0.5 µM with a linear range of 0 to 90 µM. Fluorescence bioimaging of Au3+ in HepG2 cells was also successfully demonstrated.

Abstract
Since the dawn of millennium, catalytic gold chemistry is at the forefront to set off diverse organic reactions via unique activation of π-bonded molecules. Within this purview, cycloisomerization of heteroatom nucleophiles linked to a π-system is one of the well recognized chemistry for the construction of numerous heterocyclic cores. Though the rudimentary aspects of this transformation are reviewed by several groups in different timeline, a holistic view on regiochemistry of such reactions went largely overlooked. Hence, this account emphasizes the gold catalyzed regioselective cycloisomerization of structurally distinctive π-connected hetero-nucleophiles leading to different heterocycles documented in the last two decades. From an application perspective, this account also highlights those methodologies which find a role in the total synthesis of natural products. Wherever appropriate, mechanistic details and contributing factors for selectivity are also discussed.

Abstract
Density functional theory calculations elucidated the precise reaction mechanism for the conversion of diphenylacetylenes into benzonitriles involving the cleavage of the triple C≡C bond, with N-iodosuccinimide (NIS) as an oxidant and trimethylsilyl azide (TMSN3) as a nitrogen donor. The reaction requires six steps with the activation barrier ΔG‡ = 33.5 kcal mol-1 and a highly exergonic reaction free-energy ΔGR = -191.9 kcal mol-1 in MeCN. Reaction profiles agree with several experimental observations, offering evidence for the formation of molecular I2, interpreting the necessity to increase the temperature to finalize the reaction, and revealing thermodynamic aspects allowing higher yields for alkynes with para-electron-donating groups. In addition, the proposed mechanism indicates usefulness of this concept for both internal and terminal alkynes, eliminates the option to replace NIS by its Cl- or Br-analogues, and strongly promotes NaN3 as an alternative to TMSN3. Lastly, our results advise increasing the solvent polarity as another route to advance this metal-free strategy towards more efficient processes.

Abstract
We have investigated the cannibalistic self-trapping reaction of an ortho-benzyne derivative generated from 1,11-bis(p-tolyl)undeca-1,3,8,10-tetrayne in an HDDA reaction. Without adding any specific trapping agent, the highly reactive benzyne is trapped by another bisdiyne molecule in at least three different modes. We have isolated and characterized the resulting products and performed high-level calculations concerning the reaction mechanism. During the cannibalistic self-trapping process, either a C≡C triple bond or an sp-sp3 C-C single bond is cleaved. Up to seven rings and nine C-C bonds are formed starting from two 1,11-bis(p-tolyl)undeca-1,3,8,10-tetrayne molecules. Our experiments and calculations provide considerable insight into the variety of reaction pathways which the ortho-benzyne derivative, generated from a bisdiyne, can take when reacting with another bisdiyne molecule.

Abstract
Reported herein is an ortho-oxygenative 1,2-difunctionalization of diarylalkynes under merged gold/organophotoredox catalysis to access highly functionalized 2-(2-hydroxyaryl)-2-alkoxy-1-arylethan-1-ones. Detailed mechanistic studies suggested a relay process, initiating with gold-catalyzed hydroalkoxylation of alkynes, to generate enol-ether followed by a key formal [4+2]-cycloaddition reaction. The successful application of the present methodology was also shown for the synthesis of benzofurans.

Abstract
An unprecedented conversion of terminal alkynes into N-sulfonimidamides (amidines) is reported by a silver-catalyzed, one-pot, four-component reaction with TMSN3, sodium sulfinate, and sulfonyl azide. The reaction scope includes both aromatic and aliphatic alkynes. A possible cascade reaction mechanism, consisting of alkyne hydroazidation, sulfonyl radical addition, 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition by TMSN3, and retro-1,3-dipolar cycloaddition, is proposed. TMSN3 is found to play an essential role in each step of the reaction.

Abstract
The kinetics of the reaction between para-substituted anilines and dimethyl acetylenedicarboxylate (DMAD) with derivatives of benzaldehyde for the one-pot formation of 3,4,5-substituted furan-2(5 H)-ones in the presence of lactic acid as a catalyst have been studied spectrophotometrically at different temperatures. A mechanism involving four steps was proposed for the reactions, all of which followed second-order kinetics. The partial orders with respect to substituted aniline and DMAD were one and one and the reactions revealed zero-order kinetics for benzaldehyde and its derivatives. Changing of substituents on benzaldehyde left rates of reaction unaffected. However, various substituents on aniline showed that para electron-withdrawing groups decreased the rate of reaction. According to investigation of an isokinetic relationship, a common mechanism exists for all studied substituents and a general mechanism can be formulated. Kinetic values ( k and Ea) and associated activation parameters (Δ G‡, Δ S‡ and Δ H‡) of the reactions were determined.

Abstract
A copper-catalyzed process for the synthesis of substituted quinazolines from benzonitriles and 2-ethynylanilines using molecular oxygen (O2) as sole oxidant is described. The mild catalytic system enabled the effective cleavage of the C-C triple bond and construction of new C-N and C-C bonds in one operation. Furthermore, the compound N, N-dimethyl-4-(2-(4-(trifluoromethyl)phenyl)quinazolin-4-yl)aniline (3dj) exhibited obvious aggregation-induced emission phenomenon, and the fluorescence quantum yield (ΦF,film) and lifetime (τfilm) were measured to be 45.5% and 5.8 ns in thin films state, respectively.

Abstract
A novel and efficient oxygenation approach to trisubstituted oxazoles via a copper-catalyzed aerobic oxidative dehydrogenative annulation of amines, alkynes, and O2 has been developed. This transformation combines dioxygen activation and oxidative C-H bond functionalization and provides a practical protocol for the preparation of oxazole derivatives, which are privileged units found in various bioactive compounds or other natural products. 18O-labeling experiments were conducted to reveal that oxygenation was involved in this chemistry.

Abstract
The first thiazolium salt-catalyzed C-C triple bond cleavage of benzene-linked allene-ynes has been established. The reaction pathway involves [2+2] cycloaddition and ring-opening of in situ generated cyclobutenes with H2O under mild and convenient conditions, and provides practical access to substituted 1-naphthols with potentially valuable applications.

Abstract
Alkynes are building blocks of high synthetic value and their usefulness as precursors to many chemical and biological systems is widely established. Amongst several transformations of alkynes, cleavage of the C[triple bond, length as m-dash]C bond for obtaining diverse compounds is considered to be important. This review, in particular, comprehensively assimilates the transformations of alkynes to carboxylic acids including esters, amides and nitriles resulting from the cleavage of the C[triple bond, length as m-dash]C bond either under the influence of a metal catalyst or via a metal-free approach.
