Abstract
Silylation of aryl and alkenyl triflates is found to occur readily with silylboronic esters as a silicon source under copper catalysis. The silyl moieties are exclusively installed into the organic frameworks through the preferential generation of a silylcopper species, wherein base-mediated direct borylation is totally suppressed. The combined use of tri-n-butylphosphine and 4,4'-diphenyl-2,2'-bipyridine as a ligand combination turned out to be indispensable for achieving the high catalytic activity.

Abstract
Synthesis of alkyl, aryl, and vinyl boronic esters carrying various chiral and achiral diol-protecting groups were synthesized starting from the corresponding alkyl, aryl, and vinyl lithium or Grignard reagents. Good to excellent yields were obtained for a large range of substrates. The reaction can be conducted in a gram scale to obtain the product over 80 % yield. This approach provides direct access to neopentyl, pinene, and other boronic esters that are difficult to achieve. Using trimethoxyborane or 2-isopropoxy pinacolboronic ester. Detailed mechanistic studies have been conducted to understand the mechanism behind the formation of boronic ester starting from organometallic reagents.

Abstract
The B-nucleophilic 9H-9-borafluorene dianion reacts with 9-chloro-9-silafluorene to afford air- and moisture-stable silylborate salts M[Ar2 (H)B-Si(H)Ar2 ] (M[HBSiH], M=Li, Na). Li[HBSiH] and Me3 SiCl give the B-pyridine adduct Ar2 (py)B-Si(H)Ar2 ((py)BSiH) or the chlorosilane Li[Ar2 (H)B-Si(Cl)Ar2 ] (Li[HBSiCl]) in C6 H6 -pyridine or THF. In both cases, the first step is H- abstraction at the B center. The resulting free borane subsequently binds a py or thf ligand. While the py adduct is stable at room temperature, the thf adduct undergoes a 1,2-H shift via the cyclic B(μ-H)Si intermediate BHSi, which is afterwards attacked at the Si atom by a Cl- ion to give Li[HBSiCl]. DFT calculations were employed to support the proposed reaction mechanism and to characterize the electronic structure of BHSi. Treatment of Li[HBSiCl] with the N-heterocyclic carbene IMe introduces the neutral donor at the Si atom and leads to Ar2 (H)B-Si(IMe)Ar2 (HBSi(IMe)), a donor-acceptor-stabilized silylene.

Abstract
The electromagnetic mill (EMM) promoted mechanochemical solvent-free palladium-catalyzed borylation of aryl bromides using low palladium catalyst loading (0.05-0.5 mol %) was realized. This protocol exhibits many advantages, such as broad substrate scope, good functional group tolerance, short reaction times, no additional heating, and practical gram-scale synthesis. This EMM system not only showed excellent prospects for industrial application but also unlocked broad areas of solvent-free solid-state metal-catalyzed syntheses.

Abstract
We report the synthesis of aryl boronic esters and aryl phosphonate esters promoted by visible-light in the absence of transition-metals or photoredox catalysts. The transformation proceeds at room temperature using sodium hydride, as a non-nucleophilic base, and exhibits functional group tolerance for anilines, amides, and esters. UV-vis spectroscopy, radical trapping experiments, and computational (TD-DFT) calculations suggest an electron-donor-acceptor (EDA) complex between solvent anions and aryl halides as the species responsible for this reactivity.

Abstract
We report a trifluoromethylarene reductive coupling method that dramatically expands the scope of difluorobenzylic substructures accessible via C-F bond functionalization. Catalytic quantities of a Lewis base, combined with a disilane reagent in formamide solvent, promotes the replacement of a single trifluoromethyl fluorine atom with a silylated hemiaminal functional group. The reaction proceeds through a difluorobenzyl silane intermediate that can also be isolated. Together, these defluorinated products are shown to provide rapid access to over 20 unique difluoroalkylarene scaffolds.

Abstract
A highly selective and general photoinduced C-Cl borylation protocol that employs [Ni(IMes)2] (IMes = 1,3-dimesitylimidazoline-2-ylidene) for the radical borylation of chloroarenes is reported. This photoinduced system operates with visible light (400 nm) and achieves borylation of a wide range of chloroarenes with B2pin2 at room temperature in excellent yields and with high selectivity, thereby demonstrating its broad utility and functional group tolerance. Mechanistic investigations suggest that the borylation reactions proceed via a radical process. EPR studies demonstrate that [Ni(IMes)2] undergoes very fast chlorine atom abstraction from aryl chlorides to give [NiI(IMes)2Cl] and aryl radicals. Control experiments indicate that light promotes the reaction of [NiI(IMes)2Cl] with aryl chlorides generating additional aryl radicals and [NiII(IMes)2Cl2]. The aryl radicals react with an anionic sp2-sp3 diborane [B2pin2(OMe)]- formed from B2pin2 and KOMe to yield the corresponding borylation product and the [Bpin(OMe)]•- radical anion, which reduces [NiII(IMes)2Cl2] under irradiation to regenerate [NiI(IMes)2Cl] and [Ni(IMes)2] for the next catalytic cycle.

Abstract
Compared to carbon-based nucleophiles, the number of silicon-based nucleophiles that is currently available remains limited, which significantly hampers the structural diversity of synthetically accessible silicon-based molecules. Given the high synthetic utility and ease of handling of carbon-based boron nucleophiles, silicon-based boron nucleophiles, i.e., silylboranes, have attracted considerable interest in recent years as nucleophilic silylation reagents that are activated by transition-metal catalysts or bases. However, the range of practically accessible silylboranes remains limited. In particular, the preparation of sterically hindered and functionalized silylboranes remains a significant challenge. Here, we report the use of rhodium and platinum catalysts for the direct borylation of hydrosilanes with bis(pinacolato)diboron, which allows the synthesis of new trialkylsilylboranes that bear bulky alkyl groups and functional groups as well as new dialkylarylsilylboranes that are difficult to synthesize via conventional methods using alkali metals. We further demonstrate that these compounds can be used as silicon nucleophiles in organic transformations, which significantly expands the scope of synthetically accessible organosilicon compounds compared to previously reported methods. Thus, the present study can be expected to inspire the development of efficient methods for novel silicon-containing bioactive molecules and organic materials with desirable properties. We also report the first 11B{1H} and 29Si{1H} NMR spectroscopic evidence for the formation of i-Pr3SiLi generated by the reaction of i-Pr3Si-B(pin) with MeLi.

Abstract
A copper-catalyzed highly regio- and stereoselective silaboration of alkynes was developed. In this work, direct cis-difunctionalization of alkynes was realized with silaboronate reagent and copper catalyst in aprotic solvents. The regiodivergent silaborations were controlled by tuning the copper catalysts and phosphine ligands used in reactions. This protocol provides an efficient and practical method to synthesize the multisubstituted functionalized alkenes with specific stereoselectivity.

Zn(OTf) 2-mediated annulations of N-propargylated tetrahydrocarbolines: divergent synthesis of four distinct alkaloidal scaffolds. Chem Sci 2019; 10:5686-5698. Abstract
Experimental and computational studies gained insights into Zn(OTf)2-mediated annulations and allowed programmable synthesis of four distinct alkaloidal scaffolds.
Intramolecular hydroarylations of N-propargylated tetrahydrocarbolines were efficiently mediated using a unique combination of Zn(OTf)2 with t-BuOH under neutral conditions. Use of the artificial force induced reaction method in the global reaction route mapping strategy provided insights into the Zn(OTf)2-mediated hydroarylations and the associated intriguing solvent effects of t-BuOH facilitating a protodezincation process without a Brønsted acid activator. We systematically implemented three distinct hydroarylations as well as an unanticipated α-alkenylation of a carbonyl group to obtain the four alkaloidal scaffolds 2–4, and 18. Zn(OTf)2-mediated annulation of 1c proceeded through kinetic formation of the spiroindole 3c followed by an alkenyl shift and concomitant retro-Mannich-type fragmentation to furnish azepino[4,5-b]indole 2 framework. Substituents on substrate 1 in the vicinity of the reaction sites substantially affected the mode of the divergent annulations. Judicious choices of the substituents, solvent and reaction conditions enabled programmable divergent synthesis of the four distinct skeletons.

Abstract
Herein we describe a general, mild and scalable method for deuterium incorporation by potassium methoxide/hexamethyldisilane-mediated dehalogenation of arylhalides. With CD3CN as a deuterium source, a wide array of heteroarenes prevalent in pharmaceuticals and bearing diverse functional groups are labeled with excellent deuterium incorporation (>60 examples). The ipso-selectivity of this method provides precise access to libraries of deuterated indoles and quinolines. The synthetic utility of our method has been demonstrated by the incorporation of deuterium into complex natural and drug-like compounds.

Abstract
This review is a guided tour along the activation modes and reactivity of B-B, B-Si, B-N, B-S, B-Se and B-P reagents, in the absence of any transition metal complex. Here are disclosed the general concepts related to the homolytic and heterolytic cleavage of B-B and B-interelement bonds, as well as the generation of new C-B and C-interelement bonds, in a selective way. The greener consequences of these novel routes facilitate the gram scale preparations of target functionalised organic compounds. Intrinsic data about the suggested mechanisms and spectroscopic evidence that supports the innovative theories are provided along the review. Since this is a stimulating area of work that has emerged within the last decade, this overview serves as the basis to understand the new trends and hopefully to generate inspiration for future discoveries in the field.

Abstract
Under hydrothermal conditions, an open-chain N73− anion stabilized in a metal–organic framework (MOF) was achieved for the first time via the in situ reaction of 4-fluorobenzonitrile and sodium azide with Pb2+ ion as catalyst. The anion with C2h symmetry in the MOF was studied by FT-IR, single-crystal XRD and theoretical calculations. Thermal analysis results demonstrated the stability of the anion in the MOF below 430 °C and a high energy content of 8.61 kJ g−1. The anion is also a good reducing agent. It can easily react with basic KMnO4 solution. Moreover, the present study indicates that the Pb2+ ion activates the azide rather than nitrile in the in situ reaction of nitriles with azides to form polynitrogen and this mechanism is a distinct contradiction with the previous results in which the nitrile reacts with azide in the presence of transition metal ions. Our findings may open a new avenue towards the synthesis and capture of polynitrogen compounds. Heptanitrogen anion: a chain of seven nitrogen atoms stabilized in a MOF has been isolated for the first time.![]()

Abstract
The reaction mechanism of the cationic rhodium(i)–BINAP complex catalysed isomerisation of allylic amines was explored using the artificial force induced reaction method with the global reaction route mapping strategy.
We explored the reaction mechanism of the cationic rhodium(i)–BINAP complex catalysed isomerisation of allylic amines using the artificial force induced reaction method with the global reaction route mapping strategy, which enabled us to search for various reaction paths without assumption of transition states. The entire reaction network was reproduced in the form of a graph, and reasonable paths were selected from the complicated network using Prim’s algorithm. As a result, a new dissociative reaction mechanism was proposed. Our comprehensive reaction path search provided rationales for the E/Z and S/R selectivities of the stereoselective reaction.

Abstract
Catalytic inverse electron demand Diels-Alder (IEDDA) reactions of heterocyclic aza-dienes are rarely reported since highly reactive and electron-rich dienophiles are often found not compatible with strong acids such as Lewis acids. Herein, we disclose that TFA-catalyzed reactions of electron-deficient 1,3,5-triazines and electron-deficient aldehydes/ketones can take place. These reactions led to highly functionalized pyrimidines as products in fair to good yields. The reaction mechanism was carefully studied by the combination of experimental and computational studies. The reactions involve a cascade of stepwise inverse electron demand hetero-Diels-Alder (ihDA) reactions, followed by retro-Diels-Alder (rDA) reactions and elimination of water. An acid was required for both ihDA and rDA reactions. This mechanism was further verified by comparing the relative reactivity of aldehydes/ketones and their corresponding vinyl ethers in the current reaction system.

Abstract
Metal-catalyzed transformations that forge carbon-heteroatom bonds are of central importance in organic synthesis. Despite the formidable potential of aryl methyl ethers as coupling partners, the scarcity of metal-catalyzed C-heteroatom bond formations via C-OMe cleavage is striking, with isolated precedents requiring specialized, yet expensive, ligands, high temperatures, and π-extended backbones. We report an unprecedented catalytic ipso-silylation of aryl methyl ethers under mild conditions and without recourse to external ligands. The method is distinguished by its wide scope, which includes the use of benzyl methyl ethers, vinyl methyl ethers, and unbiased anisole derivatives, thus representing a significant step forward for designing new C-heteroatom bond formations via C-OMe scission. Applications of this transformation in orthogonal silylation techniques as well as in further derivatizations are also described. Preliminary mechanistic experiments suggest the intermediacy of Ni(0)-ate complexes, leaving some doubt that a canonical catalytic cycle consisting of an initial oxidative addition of the C-OMe bond to Ni(0) species comes into play.

Abstract
The first dimesitylboryl substitution of aryl halides with a silylborane bearing a dimesitylboryl group in the presence of alkali-metal alkoxides is described. The reactions of aryl bromides or iodides with Ph2 MeSi-BMes2 and Na(OtBu) afforded the desired aryl dimesitylboranes in good to high yields and with high borylation/silylation ratios. Selective reaction of the sterically less-hindered C-Br bond of dibromoarenes provided monoborylated products. This reaction was used to rapidly construct a D-π-A aryl dimesityl borane with a non-symmetrical biphenyl spacer.
