Abstract
Herein, we predict the first set of covalently bonded triatomic molecular compounds composed exclusively of noble gases. Using a combination of double-hybrid DFT, CCSD(T), and MRCI+Q calculations and a range of bonding analyses, we explored a set of 270 doubly charged triatomics, which included various combinations of noble gases and main group elements. This extensive exploration uncovered nine noble-gas-exclusive covalent compounds incorporating helium, neon, argon, or combinations thereof, exemplified by cases such as He32+ and related systems. This work brings to light a previously uncharted domain of noble gas chemistry, demonstrating the potential of noble gases in forming covalent molecular clusters.

Abstract
The structure and stability of noble gas (Ng) bound [NHCM]+ complexes (M = Cu, Ag, and Au) were investigated using Quantum chemical calculations. Dissociation energies, enthalpy, and free energy changes were computed to comprehend the stability of these Ng-bonded complexes. The nature of interactions associated to the bonding between metal and noble gas atoms was studied through the computation of electron density-based descriptors. Detailed electronic structure study revealed electron donation from the noble gas atoms towards the metal center, resulting in the formation of dative bonds.

Abstract
It is now known that the heavier noble gases (Ng=Ar-Rn) show some varying degrees of reactivity with a gradual increase in reactivity along Ar-Rn. However, because of their very small size and very high ionization potential, helium and neon are the hardest targets to crack. Although few neon complexes are isolated at very low temperatures, helium needs very extreme situations like very high pressure. Here, we find that protonated BeO, BeOH+ can bind helium and neon spontaneously at room temperature. Therefore, extreme conditions like very low temperature and/or high pressure will not be required for their experimental isolation. The Ng-Be bond strength is very high for their heavier homologs and the bond strength shows a gradual increase from He to Rn. Moreover, the Ng-Be attractive energy is almost exclusively originated from the orbital interaction which is composed of one Ng(s/pσ )→BeOH+ σ-donation and two weaker Ng(pπ )→BeOH+ π-donations, except for helium. Helium uses its low-lying vacant 2p orbitals to accept π-electron density from BeOH+ . Previously, such electron-accepting ability of helium was used to explain a somewhat stronger helium bond than neon for neutral complexes. However, the present results indicate that such π-back donations are too weak in nature to decide any energetic trend between helium and neon.

Abstract
Motivated by the discovery of neutral noble gas hydrides, herein, we have explored the possibility of the existence of a novel class of neutral noble gas compounds, HNgBO, HNgOB, HNgAlO and HNgOAl (Ng = Xe and Rn), through the insertion of a Ng atom into the hydroxides of icosagens and their isomers, namely, HBO, HOB, HAlO and HOAl. Second-order Møller-Plesset perturbation theory (MP2), density functional theory (DFT), and coupled-cluster theory (CCSD(T))-based methods have been employed to investigate the structures, stabilities, energetics, harmonic vibrational frequencies, and charge distribution of the predicted molecules. The HXeBO, HXeOAl, HRnBO, HRnAlO and HRnOAl molecules are found to be thermodynamically stable with respect to all plausible 2-body and 3-body dissociation channels except the 2-body dissociation pathway, leading to the formation of global minimum products (Ng + HBO), (Ng + HOAl) and (Ng + HAlO). However, the very large activation energy barrier heights provide enough kinetic stability to the predicted metastable molecules, which in turn can prevent them from dissociating into the global minimum products. Between the HNgBO-HNgOB isomers, HNgBO is found to be more stable, where both HNgBO and the precursor molecule HBO are linear. On the other hand, HNgOAl is more stable between the HNgAlO-HNgOAl isomers, where the precursor molecule HOAl is bent and HNgOAl is linear in contradiction and in agreement with Walsh's rule, respectively. Moreover, in contrast to the more stable HNgBO case, where the Ng atom is bonded with the icosagen atom, in the more stable HNgOAl, the Ng atom is connected to the chalcogen atom. All the detailed aforementioned analyses concerning the predicted molecules clearly indicate that a strong covalent bond exists between the H and Ng atoms, while an ionic interaction is found between the Ng and B atoms in HNgBO and Ng and O atoms in the HNgOAl molecules. In addition, the charge distribution and atoms-in-molecules (AIM) analyses are in agreement with the above-mentioned conclusion and also suggest that the predicted metastable HNgBO and HNgOAl molecules should essentially exist in the form of [HNg]+[BO]- and [HNg]+[OAl]-, respectively. All the calculated results reported in this work indicate that it might be possible to prepare and characterize the predicted molecules via suitable experimental technique(s) under cryogenic conditions.

Abstract
Cationic species with noble gas (Ng)-hydrogen bonds play a major role in the gas-phase ion chemistry of the group 18 elements. These species first emerged more than 90 years ago, when the simplest HeH+ and HeH2 + were detected from ionized He/H2 mixtures. Over the years, the family has considerably expanded and currently includes various bonding motifs that are investigated with intense experimental and theoretical interest. Quite recently, the results of these studies acquired new and fascinating implications. The diatomic ArH+ and HeH+ were, in fact, detected in various galactic and extragalactic regions, and this stimulates intriguing questions concerning the actual role in the outer space of the Ng-H cations observed in the laboratory. The aim of this review is to briefly summarize the most relevant information currently available on the structure, stability, and routes of formation of these fascinating systems.

Abstract
A series of complexes (HNgMX3), formed from superhalogen MX3 (M = Be-Ca, X = F-Br) noble gas (Ar-Rn) and the hydrogen atom, were investigated via combined high-level ab initio and DFT calculations. The high vertical electron detachment energy (VDE) of the superhalogen part will lead to charge transfer from the noble gas hydride to it. This charge transfer gives rise to attractive ionic interaction between the two components and to the existence of these complexes as local minima on the potential energy surface eventually. However, the VDE value of the superhalogen part is not always monotonically correlated with the thermodynamic/kinetic stability of the whole complexes. Therefore the superhalogen itself might not be enough to provide information for the correct prediction of the properties of the whole composites. Although there are exothermic channels of dissociation, the existence of energy barrier might ensure the existence of these Ng hydrides under certain conditions. Our analysis indicates the existence of two important factors, functioning in opposite directions, for the energy barriers along the exothermic channel. To achieve a high energy barrier, the attractive interaction between superhalogen and the H atom in the TS, which lowers the barrier, needs to be suppressed effectively. An understanding of the superhalogen-based composites will provide valuable information on the functional properties and potential application of superhalogens. The details of the interaction between different parts of these composites should be one of the areas of focus in these studies.

Abstract
A series of 20 composite structures, consisting of superhalogen and noble gas (Ng) hydrides, was explored via high-level coupled-cluster single, double and perturbative triple excitations calculations in this work. The existence of these composites, as local minima on the potential energy surface, arises from the charge transfer from the Ng hydride part to the superhalogen moiety. Clearly, this transfer could lead to stabilizing the interaction of the ionic type between the two components. The driving force of the charge transfer should be the high vertical electron detachment energy (VDE) of the superhalogen part leading to its enough capability of extracting the electron from the Ng hydride moiety. However, except triggering the ionic attractive interaction, there is nomonotonic correlation between the VDE value and the thermodynamic stability of the whole composite. This counter-intuitive result actually originates from the fact that, irrespective of various superhalogens, only two of their F ligands interact with the Ng atoms directly. Thus, although leading to higher VDE values, the increase in the number of electronegative ligands of the superhalogen moiety does not affect the stabilizing interaction of the composites here directly. In other words, with the necessary charge transfer generated, further increase of the VDE does not ensure the improvement of the thermodynamic stabilities of the whole composite. Moreover, in the transition state of the exothermic dissociation channel, more F atoms will give rise to higher probability of additional attractions between the F and H atoms which should lower the energy barrier. That is to say, increasing VDE, i.e., having more F atoms in many cases, will probably reduce the kinetic stability. Knowing the inevitable existence of the exothermic channel, kinetic stability is crucial to the ultimate goal of experimental observation of these Ng hydrides. Thus, in some cases, only the superhalogen itself may not provide enough information for the correct prediction on the properties of the whole composites. The understanding of the superhalogen-based composites will provide valuable information on the functional properties as well as the application potential of superhalogen clusters. Thus, the corresponding researches should focus on not only the superhalogen itself but also other related aspects, especially the details of the interaction between different parts.

Abstract
The internal isomerization, MNC ↔ MCN (M = Cu, Ag, Au), is investigated through quantum chemical computations. CuNC and AgNC are shown to be neither thermochemically nor kinetically stable against transformation to MCN. The free energy barrier (ΔG‡) for AuNC is somewhat considerable (7.1 kcal mol-1), indicating its viability, particularly at low temperature. Further, the Ng inserted analogues, MNgCN (M = Cu, Ag, Au; Ng = Xe, Rn) turn out to be thermochemically stable with respect to all possible dissociation channels but for two two-body dissociation channels, viz., MNgCN → Ng + MCN and MNgCN → Ng + MNC, which are connected to the internal isomerization processes, MNgCN → NgMCN and MNgCN → NgMNC, respectively. However, they are kinetically protected by substantial ΔG‡ values (11.8-15.4 kcal mol-1 for Cu, 9.8-13.6 kcal mol-1 for Ag, and 19.7-24.7 kcal mol-1 for Au). The pathways for such internal conversion are explored in detail. A thorough inspection of the bonding situation of the studied molecules, employing natural bond order, electron density, adaptive natural density partitioning, and energy decomposition analyses indicates that the M-Ng bonds in MNgCN and Ng-C bonds in AuNgCN can be represented as an electron-shared covalent bond. For the other Ng-C bonds, although an ionic description is better suited, the degree of covalent character is also substantial therein.

Abstract
Infrared spectroscopy combined with quantum chemical calculations indicates that the [ArB3O5]+, [ArB4O6]+ and [ArB5O7]+ cation complexes each involve an aromatic boroxol ring and an argon–boron covalent σ bond.
The cation complexes [ArB3O4]+, [ArB3O5]+, [ArB4O6]+ and [ArB5O7]+ were prepared via a laser vaporization supersonic ion source in the gas phase. Their vibrational spectra were measured via mass-selected infrared photodissociation spectroscopy. Spectroscopy combined with quantum chemical calculations revealed that the [ArB3O5]+, [ArB4O6]+ and [ArB5O7]+ cation complexes have planar structures each involving an aromatic boroxol ring and an argon–boron covalent bond. In contrast, the [ArB3O4]+ cation is characterized to be a weakly bound complex with a B3O4+ chain structure.

Abstract
Following the study of HXeOXeH and HXeCCXeH, in which two Xe atoms were inserted into H2O and C2H2 theoretically and experimentally, the structures and stability of BNg3F3 (Ng = Ar, Kr and Xe), in which three Ng atoms are inserted into BF3, have been explored theoretically using DFT and ab initio calculations. It is shown that BNg3F3 (Ng = Ar, Kr and Xe) with D3h symmetry are local minima with short B-Ng bond lengths of 1.966, 2.027 and 2.214 Å at the CCSD(T)/aug-cc-pVTZ/LJ18 level, which are close to their covalent limits. Note that although BNg3F3 (Ng = Kr and Xe) are energetically higher than the dissociation products 3Ng + BF3, they are still kinetically stable as metastable species with protecting barriers of 13.38 and 17.99 kcal mol(-1) for BKr3F3 and BXe3F3. Moreover, BKr3F3, the tri-Kr-inserted compound, even has comparable kinetic stability to HXeOXeH and HXeOXeF. In addition, upon the formation of BNg3F3, there is a large amount of charge transferred from B to Ng of at least 0.619 e. The calculated Wiberg Bond Indices (WBI) suggest that B-Ng bonds are naturally singly bonded; the large vibrational frequencies of B-Ng and Ng-F stretching modes and the negative Laplacian electron density of B-Ng bonds confirm further that BNg3F3 are stiff molecules with covalent B-Ng bonds. It should be noted that three Ng atoms inserted into mono-centric neutral molecules have not been reported previously. We hope that the present theoretical study may provide important evidence for the experimental synthesis of BNg3F3.

Abstract
The equilibrium geometries, harmonic frequencies, and dissociation energies of HNgNH3(+) ions (Ng = He, Ne, Ar, Kr, and Xe) were investigated using the following method: Becke-3-parameter-Lee-Yang-Parr (B3LYP), Boese-Matrin for Kinetics (BMK), second-order Møller-Plesset perturbation theory (MP2), and coupled-cluster with single and double excitations as well as perturbative inclusion of triples (CCSD(T)). The results indicate that HHeNH3(+), HArNH3(+), HKrNH3(+), and HXeNH3(+) ions are metastable species that are protected from decomposition by high energy barriers, whereas the HNeNH3(+) ion is unstable because of its relatively small energy barrier for decomposition. The bonding nature of noble-gas atoms in HNgNH3(+) was also analyzed using the atoms in molecules approach, natural energy decomposition analysis, and natural bond orbital analysis.

Abstract
The possibility of the existence of a new series of neutral noble gas compound, FNgBS (where Ng = Ar, Kr, Xe), is explored theoretically through the insertion of a Ng atom into the fluoroborosulfide molecule (FBS). Second-order Møller-Plesset perturbation theory, density functional theory, and coupled cluster theory based methods have been employed to predict the structure, stability, harmonic vibrational frequencies, and charge distribution of FNgBS molecules. Through energetics study, it has been found that the molecules could dissociate into global minima products (Ng + FBS) on the respective singlet potential energy surface via a unimolecular dissociation channel; however, the sufficiently large activation energy barriers provide enough kinetic stability to the predicted molecules, which, in turn, prevent them from dissociating into the global minima products. Moreover, the FNgBS species are thermodynamically stable, owing to very high positive energies with respect to other two two-body dissociation channels, leading to FNg + BS and F(-) + NgBS(+), and two three-body dissociation channels, corresponding to the dissociation into F + Ng + BS and F(-) + Ng + BS(+). Furthermore, the Mulliken and NBO charge analysis together with the AIM results reveal that the Ng-B bond is more of covalent in nature, whereas the F-Ng bond is predominantly ionic in character. Thus, these compounds can be better represented as F(-)[NgBS](+). This fact is also supported by the detail analysis of bond length, bond dissociation energy, and stretching force constant values. All of the calculated results reported in this work clearly indicate that it might be possible to prepare and characterize the FNgBS molecules in cryogenic environment through matrix isolation technique by using a mixture of OCS/BF3 in the presence of large quantity of noble gas under suitable experimental conditions.

Abstract
Ab initio and density functional theory-based computations are performed to investigate the structure and stability of H3SiNgNSi and HSiNgNSi compounds (Ng = Xe, Rn). They are thermochemically unstable with respect to the dissociation channel producing Ng and H3SiNSi or HSiNSi. However, they are kinetically stable with respect to this dissociation channel having activation free energy barriers of 19.3 and 23.3 kcal/mol for H3SiXeNSi and H3SiRnNSi, respectively, and 9.2 and 12.8 kcal/mol for HSiXeNSi and HSiRnNSi, respectively. The rest of the possible dissociation channels are endergonic in nature at room temperature for Rn analogues. However, one three-body dissociation channel for H3SiXeNSi and one two-body and one three-body dissociation channels for HSiXeNSi are slightly exergonic in nature at room temperature. They become endergonic at slightly lower temperature. The nature of bonding between Ng and Si/N is analyzed by natural bond order, electron density and energy decomposition analyses. Natural population analysis indicates that they could be best represented as (H3SiNg)+(NSi)- and (HSiNg)+(NSi)-. Energy decomposition analysis further reveals that the contribution from the orbital term (ΔEorb) is dominant (ca. 67%-75%) towards the total attraction energy associated with the Si-Ng bond, whereas the electrostatic term (ΔEelstat) contributes the maximum (ca. 66%-68%) for the same in the Ng-N bond, implying the covalent nature of the former bond and the ionic nature of the latter.

Abstract
In this work we have predicted novel rare gas containing cationic molecules, XRgCO(+) (X = F, Cl and Rg = Ar, Kr, Xe) using ab initio quantum chemical methods. Detail structural, stability, vibrational frequency, and charge distribution values are reported using density functional theory, second-order Møller-Plesset perturbation theory, and coupled-cluster theory based methods. These ions are found to be metastable in nature and exhibit a linear geometry with C∞v symmetry in their minima energy structures, and the nonlinear transition state geometries are associated with Cs symmetry. Except for the two-body dissociation channel (Rg + XCO(+)), these ions are stable with respect to all other dissociation channels. However, the connecting transition states between the above-mentioned two-body dissociation channel products and the predicted ions are associated with sufficient energy barriers, which restricts the metastable species to transform into the global minimum products. Thus, it may be possible to detect and characterize these metastable ions using an electron bombardment technique under cryogenic conditions.
