Abstract
Polymersomes, self-assembled nanoparticles composed of amphiphilic block copolymers, have emerged as promising versatile nanovesicles with various applications, such as drug delivery, medical imaging, and diagnostics. The integration of click chemistry reactions, specifically the copper [I]-catalysed azide-alkyne cycloaddition (CuAAC), has greatly expanded the functionalisation and bioconjugation capabilities of polymersomes and new drugs, being this synergistic combination explored in this review. It also provides up-to-date examples of previous incorporations of click-compatible moieties (azide and alkyne functional groups) into polymer building blocks, enabling the "click" attachment of various functional groups and ligands, delving into the diverse range of click reactions that have been reported and employed for polymersome copolymer synthesis and the modification of polymersome surfaces, including ligand conjugation and surface modification. Overall, this review explores the current state-of-the-art of the combinatory usage, in recent years, of polymersomes with the click chemistry reaction, highlighting examples of studies of their synthesis and functionalisation strategies.

Abstract
Here, we present the chemoenzymatic synthesis of two pairs of configuration-customized unsaturated chiral polyesters and discover that they are able to self-assemble into a helical superstructure. The chiral (R)- or (S)-polyesters with a polar unsaturated main-chain and an apolar side chain were designed to be stereoregular and amphiphilic-like. The solvent polarity, stereoregularity, unsaturated bond in the backbone and the structure of side chains were found to be the key factors to affect the self-assembly performance of the chiral polyesters. As the solvent polarity increased, the nanostructures of stereoregular unsaturated polyesters transformed from spheres to helical fibers, while there was no such transformation for the racemic or saturated polyesters.

Abstract
This paper investigates how the properties of multiblock copolypeptides can be tuned by their block architecture, defined by the size and distribution of blocks along the polymer chain. These parameters were explored by the precise, genetically encoded synthesis of recombinant elastin-like polypeptides (ELPs). A family of ELPs was synthesized in which the composition and length were conserved while the block length and distribution were varied, thus creating 11 ELPs with unique block architectures. To our knowledge, these polymers are unprecedented in their intricately and precisely varied architectures. ELPs exhibit lower critical solution temperature (LCST) behavior and micellar self-assembly, both of which impart easily measured physicochemical properties to the copolymers, providing insight into polymer hydrophobicity and self-assembly into higher order structures, as a function of solution temperature. Even subtle variation in block architecture changed the LCST phase behavior and morphology of these ELPs, measured by their temperature-triggered phase transition and nanoscale self-assembly. Size and morphology of polypeptide micelles could be tuned solely by controlling the block architecture, thus demonstrating that when sequence can be precisely controlled, nanoscale self-assembly of polypeptides can be modulated by block architecture.

Abstract
Complex polymeric nanospheres in aqueous solution are desirable for their promising potential in encapsulation and templating applications. Understanding how they evolve in solution enables better control of the final structures. By unifying insights from cryoTEM and small angle X-ray scattering (SAXS), we present a mechanism for the development of bicontinuous polymeric nanospheres (BPNs) in aqueous solution from a semi-crystalline comb-like block copolymer that possesses temperature-responsive functionality. During the initial stages of water addition to THF solutions of the copolymer the aggregates are predominantly vesicles; but above a water content of 53% irregular aggregates of phase separated material appear, often microns in diameter and of indeterminate shape. We also observe a cononsolvency regime for the copolymer in THF-water mixtures from 22 to 36%. The structured large aggregates gradually decrease in size throughout dialysis, and the BPNs only appear upon cooling the fully aqueous dispersions from 35 °C to 5 °C. Thus, the final BPNs are ultimately the result of a reversible temperature-induced morphological transition.

Abstract
Amphiphilic nucleobase-containing block copolymers with poly(oligo(ethylene glycol) methyl ether methacrylate) as the hydrophilic block and nucleobase-containing blocks as the hydrophobic segments were successfully synthesized using RAFT polymerization and then self-assembled via solvent switch in aqueous solutions. Effects of the common solvent on the resultant morphologies of the adenine (A) and thymine (T) homopolymers, and A/T copolymer blocks and blends were investigated. These studies highlighted that depending on the identity of the common solvent, DMF or DMSO, spherical micelles or bicontinuous micelles were obtained. We propose that this is due to the presence of A-T interactions playing a key role in the morphology and stability of the resultant nanoparticles, which resulted in a distinct system compared to individual adenine or thymine polymers. Finally, the effects of annealing on the self-assemblies were explored. It was found that annealing could lead to better-defined spherical micelles and induce a morphology transition from bicontinuous micelles to onion-like vesicles, which was considered to occur due to a structural rearrangement of complementary nucleobase interactions resulting from the annealing process.

Abstract
This study reports the self-assembly of novel polymer vesicles from an amphiphilic multiblock copolyamide, and the vesicles show a special structure with an ultrathin wall thickness of about 4.5 nm and a combined bilayer and monolayer packing model. Most interestingly, the vesicles are ultrasound-responsive and can release the encapsulated model drugs in response to ultrasonic irradiation.

Abstract
The preparation of long-term-stable giant unilamellar vesicles (GUVs, diameter ≥ 1000 nm) and large vesicles (diameter ≥ 500 nm) by self-assembly in THF of the crystalline-b-coil polyphosphazene block copolymers [N=P(OCH2CF3)2 ]n-b-[N=PMePh]m (4 a: n=30, m=20; 4 b: n=90, m=20; 4 c: n=200, m=85), which combine crystalline [N=P(OCH2CF3)2] and amorphous [N=PMePh] blocks, both of which are flexible, is reported. SEM, TEM, and wide-angle X-ray scattering experiments demonstrated that the stability of these GUVs is induced by crystallization of the [N=P(OCH2CF3)2] blocks at the capsule wall of the GUVS, with the [N=PMePh] blocks at the corona. Higher degrees of crystallinity of the capsule wall are found in the bigger vesicles, which suggests that the crystallinity of the [N=P(OCH2CF3)2] block facilitates the formation of large vesicles. The GUVs are responsive to strong acids (HOTf) and, after selective protonation of the [N=PMePh] block, they undergo a morphological evolution to smaller spherical micelles in which the core and corona roles have been inverted. This morphological evolution is totally reversible by neutralization with a base (NEt3), which regenerates the original GUVs. The monitoring of this process by dynamic light scattering allowed a mechanism to to be proposed for this reversible morphological evolution in which the block copolymer 4 a and its protonated form 4 a(+) are intermediates. This opens a route to the design of reversibly responsive polymeric systems in organic solvents. This is the first reversibly responsive vesicle system to operate in organic media.

Abstract
The spontaneous vesicle formation of ABABA-type amphiphilic multiblock copolymers bearing thermosensitive hydrophilic A-block in a selective solvent is studied using dissipative particle dynamics (DPD) approach. The formation process of vesicle through nucleation and growth pathway is observed by varying the temperature. The simulation results show that spherical micelle takes shape at high temperature. As temperature decreases, vesicles with small aqueous cavity appear and the cavity expands as well as the membrane thickness decreases with the temperature further decreasing. This finding is in agreement with the experimental observation. Furthermore, by continuously varying the temperature and the length of the hydrophobic block, a phase diagram is constructed, which can indicate the thermodynamically stable region for vesicles. The morphological phase diagram shows that vesicles can form in a larger parameter scope. The relationship between the hydrophilic and hydrophobic block length versus the aqueous cavity size and vesicle size are revealed. Simulation results demonstrate that the copolymers with shorter hydrophobic blocks length or the higher hydrophilicity are more likely to form vesicles with larger aqueous cavity size and vesicle size as well as thinner wall thickness. However, the increase in A-block length results to form vesicles with smaller aqueous cavity size and larger vesicle size.

Abstract
Three perylenetetracarboxylic diimide (PDI) derivatives consisting of a short oligo(L-lactic acid)(n) (O-LLA) segment at one imide nitrogen were synthesized. The polymers were characterized by (1)H NMR and gel permeation chromatography (GPC). Their properties were investigated by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), X-ray diffraction (XRD) experiments, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), electronic absorption, and circular dichroism (CD) spectroscopy. The self-assembly behavior of these PDIs in molten state as well as in solvent was examined. It was found that the structure and the morphology of the self-assembly of these polymers depend on the relative length of the O-LLA segment. The PDIs with longer O-LLA chains present liquid crystal properties with an obvious phase transition from disordered phase to an ordered (α) phase, which cannot be found for the PDIs with short O-LLA segments. The long O-LLA segments also caused a left-handed helicity for the aggregates of the PDIs from solution. This research demonstrated that one can control the order, aggregation mode, and morphology of the molecular aggregates by changing the length of the O-LLA chains. This information can be useful in the design of new organic materials that exhibit molecular aggregation.

Abstract
In order to expand the utility of current polymeric micellar systems, we have developed amphiphilic multiblock copolymers containing alternating blocks of poly(acrylic acid) and poly(styrene). Heterotelechelic poly(tert-butyl acrylate-b-styrene) diblock copolymers containing an α-alkyne and an ω-azide were synthesized by atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP), allowing control over the molecular weight while maintaining narrow polydispersity indices. The multiblock copolymers were constructed by copper-catalyzed azide-alkyne cycloaddition of azide-alkyne end functional diblock copolymers which were then characterized by (1)H NMR, FT-IR and SEC. The tert-butyl moieties of the poly(tert-butyl acrylate-b-styrene) multiblock copolymers were easily removed to form the poly(acrylic acid-b-styrene) multiblock copolymer ((PAA-PS)(9)), which contained up to 9 diblock repeats. The amphiphilic multiblock (PAA-PS)(9) (M(n) = 73.3 kg/mol) was self-assembled by dissolution into tetrahydrofuran and extensive dialysis against deionized water for 4 days. The critical micelle concentration (CMC) for (PAA-PS)(9) was determined by fluorescence spectroscopy using pyrene as a fluorescent probe and was found to be very low at 2 × 10(-4) mg/mL. The (PAA-PS)(9) multiblock was also analyzed by dynamic light scattering (DLS) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The hydrodynamic diameter of the particles was found to be 11 nm. Discrete spherical particles were observed by TEM with an average particle diameter of 14 nm. The poly(acrylic acid) periphery of the spherical particles should allow for future conjugation of biomolecules.

Abstract
An amphiphilic multiblock copolymer, [poly(4-vinylpyridine)-b-polystyrene-b-poly(4-vinylpyridine)](n) (P4VP-PS-P4VP)(n) bearing trithiocarbonate moieties (-S-CS-S-), was used as capping agent to fabricate the functional copolymer-capped Au nanoparticles. Due to the amphiphilic character of the multiblock copolymer, the (P4VP-PS-P4VP)(n)-capped Au nanoparticles were able to be entrapped and hence form a stable monolayer thin film at the (DMF-H(2)O)/diethyl ether interface. Note that DMF-H(2)O is a good mixed solvent for P4VP and a nonsolvent for PS, whereas diethyl ether is a good solvent for PS and a nonsolvent for P4VP. A similar procedure can be applied to prepare monolayer thin film of the (P4VP-PS-P4VP)(n)-capped Ag nanoparticles at the (DMF-H(2)O)/diethyl ether interface, which exhibits enhanced surface Raman signal. We further demonstrate that the stable monolayer of (P4VP-PS-P4VP)(n)-capped Au nanorods can also be fabricated by using the ligand-exchange method.

Abstract
The water-induced aggregation behavior of rod-coil diblock copolymers based on poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO) and poly{(+)-2,5-bis[4'-((S)-2-methylbutoxy)phenyl]styrene} (PMBPS), PEO104-b-PMBPS53, was investigated in the common solvent THF and in the selective solvent dioxane. Before adding water, PEO104-b-PMBPS53 stayed as single polymer chains no matter what conformation the PEO block took (i.e., either the random coil conformation in THF or the compact globule conformation in dioxane). The critical water content ( approximately 6 wt %) at which PEO104-b-PMBPS53 began to aggregate was also similar in both solvents, indicating that PMBPS dominated the aggregation process. However, the size, the size distribution, and the morphology of aggregates in THF/water were quite different from those in dioxane/water. Narrowly distributed spheres with Rh approximately 20 nm were observed in dioxane, whereas in THF, a bimodal distribution peaked at 3 and approximately 300 nm, was observed. The results from 2D wide-angle X-ray diffraction and polarized optical microscopy demonstrated that the PMBPS blocks packed in a parallel pattern upon aggregation in dioxane/water. The anisotropic disclike structures observed in THF/water also indicated the orientation of the PMBPS blocks upon forming aggregates in dilute solution.
