Abstract
Multiresponsive polymers that can respond to several external stimuli are promising materials for a manifold of applications. Herein, a facile method for the synthesis of triple-responsive (pH, temperature, CO2 ) poly(N,N-diethylaminoethyl methacrylamide) by a post-polymerization amidation of poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) is presented. Combined with trivalent counterions ([Fe(CN)6 ]3- ) both an upper and lower critical solution temperature (UCST/LCST)-type phase behavior can be realized at pH 8 and 9. PMMA and PMMA-based block copolymers are readily accessible by living anionic and controlled radical polymerization techniques, which opens access to various responsive polymer architectures based on the developed functionalization method. This method can also be applied on melt-processed bulk PMMA samples to introduce functional, responsive moieties at the PMMA surface.

Abstract
Block copolymers with various nanodomains, such as spheres, cylinders, and lamellae, have received attention for their applicability to nanolithography. However, those microdomains are determined by the volume fraction of one block. Meanwhile, nanopatterns with multiple shapes are required for the next-generation nanolithography. Although various methods have been reported to achieve dual nanopatterns, all the methods need sophisticated processes using E-beam. Here, we synthesized a miktoarm block copolymer capable of cleavage of one block by ultraviolet. Original cylindrical nanodomains of synthesized block copolymer were successfully transformed to lamellar nanodomains due to the change of molecular architecture by ultraviolet. We fabricated dual nanopatterns consisting of dots and lines at desired regions on a single substrate. We also prepared dual nanopatterns utilizing another phase transformation from spheres to cylinders in a block copolymer with higher interaction parameter. Since our concept has versatility to any block copolymer, it could be employed as next-generation nanolithography.

Abstract
This article reviews the development of a novel all-around iterative methodology combining living anionic polymerization with specially designed linking chemistry for macromolecular architecture syntheses. The methodology is designed in such a way that the same reaction site is always regenerated after the polymer chain is introduced in each reaction sequence, and this "polymer chain introduction and regeneration of the same reaction site" sequence is repeatable. Accordingly, the polymer chain can be successively and, in principle, limitlessly introduced to construct macromolecular architectures. With this iterative methodology, a variety of synthetically difficult macromolecular architectures, i.e., multicomponent μ-star polymers, high generation dendrimer-like hyperbranched polymers, exactly defined graft polymers, and multiblock polymers having more than three blocks, were successfully synthesized.

Abstract
The synthesis of an ABC star terpolymer containing one polymer chain connected mechanically through a rotaxane linkage and its topology transformation to a linear structure are reported. Pseudo[2]rotaxane, which was designed as the key trifunctional species for the star polymer synthesis, comprised a sec-ammonium axle with ethynyl and hydroxy groups and a crown ether wheel with a trithiocarbonate group. Stepwise polymer connections to the pseudo[2]rotaxane using the three groups afforded a rotaxane-linked ABC star terpolymer. The topology transformation from star to linear by the removal of the attractive interaction between the axle and wheel components yielded a linear ABC terpolymer via the wheel shifting to the axle end. The spectroscopic and solution property changes clearly indicated the occurrence of the polymer topology change.

Abstract
We present the design and synthesis of a linear ABC triblock terpolymer for the bottom-up synthesis of anisotropic organic/inorganic hybrid materials: polyethylene-block-poly(2-(4-(tert-butoxycarbonyl)amino)butyl-2-oxazoline)-block-poly(2-iso-propyl-2-oxazoline) (PE-b-PBocAmOx-b-PiPrOx). The synthesis was realized via the covalent linkage of azide-functionalized polyethylene and alkyne functionalized poly(2-alkyl-2-oxazoline) (POx)-based diblock copolymers exploiting copper-catalyzed azide-alkyne cycloaddition (CuAAC) chemistry. After purification of the resulting triblock terpolymer, the middle block was deprotected, resulting in a primary amine in the side chain. In the next step, solution self-assembly into core-shell-corona micelles in aqueous solution was investigated by dynamic light scattering (DLS) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). Subsequent directional crystallization of the corona-forming block, poly(2-iso-propyl-2-oxazoline), led to the formation of anisotropic superstructures as demonstrated by electron microscopy (SEM and TEM). We present hypotheses concerning the aggregation mechanism as well as first promising results regarding the selective loading of individual domains within such anisotropic nanostructures with metal nanoparticles (Au, Fe3O4).

Abstract
Compartmentalization is ubiquitous to many biological and artificial systems, be it for the separate storage of incompatible matter or to isolate transport processes. Advancements in the synthesis of sequential block copolymers offer a variety of tools to replicate natural design principles with tailor-made soft matter for the precise spatial separation of functionalities on multiple length scales. Here, we review recent trends in the self-assembly of amphiphilic block copolymers to multicompartment nanostructures (MCNs) under (semi-)dilute conditions, with special emphasis on ABC triblock terpolymers. The intrinsic immiscibility of connected blocks induces short-range repulsion into discrete nano-domains stabilized by a third, soluble block or molecular additive. Polymer blocks can be synthesized from an arsenal of functional monomers directing self-assembly through packing frustration or response to various fields. The mobility in solution further allows the manipulation of self-assembly processes into specific directions by clever choice of environmental conditions. This review focuses on practical concepts that direct self-assembly into predictable nanostructures, while narrowing particle dispersity with respect to size, shape and internal morphology. The growing understanding of underlying self-assembly mechanisms expands the number of experimental concepts providing the means to target and manipulate progressively complex superstructures.

Abstract
We report an innovative template-assisted synthetic protocol for the selective functionalization of terminal triple bonds in oligophenyleneethynylenes (OPE) by pre-organization in aqueous solution. By this approach, three new OPE-based bolaamphiphiles substituted with hydrophilic poly(2-ethyl-2-oxazoline) (PEtOx) chains of different length have been synthesized. The chain length was observed to strongly influence the aqueous supramolecular polymerization: bolaamphiphiles with longer hydrophilic chains aggregate into spherical nanoparticles in a stepwise fashion, whereas 2D anisotropic platelets are formed cooperatively if shorter PEtOx chains are used. Our results demonstrate that hydrophobic interactions can be strong enough to trigger cooperative effects in aqueous self-assembly processes.

Abstract
Directed self-assembly processes of polymeric systems represent a powerful approach for the generation of structural hierarchy in analogy to biological systems. Herein, we utilize triiodide as a strongly polarizable counterion to induce hierarchical self-assembly of an ABC miktoarm star terpolymer comprising a polybutadiene (PB), a poly(tert-butyl methacrylate) (PtBMA), and a poly(N-methyl-2-vinylpyridinium) (P2VPq) segment. Hereby, the miktoarm architecture in conjunction with an increasing ratio of triiodide versus iodide counterions allows for a stepwise assembly of spherical micelles as initial building blocks into cylindrical structures and superstructures thereof. Finally, micrometer-sized multicompartment particles with a periodic lamellar fine structure are observed, for which we introduce the term "woodlouse". The counterion-mediated decrease in hydrophilicity of the corona-forming P2VPq block is the underlying trigger to induce this hierarchical structure formation. All individual steps and the corresponding intermediates toward these well-defined superstructures were intensively studied by scattering and electron microscopic techniques, including transmission electron microtomography.
