Abstract
A novel method was used to synthesize benzimidazole-2-ones from the corresponding benzimidazolium salts. These salts were subsequently reacted with potassium tertiary butoxide (KOtBu), followed by oxidation using tertiary butyl hydrogen peroxide (TBHP) at room temperature in tetrahydrofuran (THF) to obtain the desired products in 1 h with excellent yields. After optimizing the reaction conditions, the study focused on preparing benzimidazole-2-ones with diverse substituents at N1 and N3 positions, including benzyl, 2',4',6'-trimethyl benzyl groups, and long-chain aliphatic substituents (hexyl, octyl, decyl, and dodecyl). The compounds were characterized by 1H and 13C NMR spectra, of which compound 2a is supported by single crystal XRD. Benzimidazole-2-one compounds exhibited promising anti-inflammatory and anti-cancer properties. The inhibition of mitochondrial Heat Shock Protein 60 (HSP60) of title compounds was also explored. Computational simulations were employed to assess anti-cancer properties of 19 benzimidazole-2-one derivatives (potential drugs). In-silico docking studies demonstrated promising binding interactions with HSP60, and these results were supported by molecular dynamics simulations. Notably, molecules 2b and 2d exhibited high affinity for HSP60 protein, highlighting their potential efficacy. The developed ligands were viable for the treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). The findings provide valuable initial evidence supporting the efficacy of benzimidazole-2-ones as HSP60 inhibitors and lay the foundation for subsequent studies, including in-vitro assays.

Abstract
Imidazolium salts have found ubiquitous applications as N-heterocyclic carbene precursors and metal nanoparticle stabilizers in catalysis and metallodrug research. Substituents directly attached to the imidazole ring can have a significant influence on the electronic, steric, and other properties of NHC-proligands as well as their metal complexes. In the present study, for the first time, a new type of Pd/NHC complex with the RSO2 group directly attached to the imidazol-2-ylidene ligand core was designed and synthesized. The electronic properties as well as structural features of the new ligands were evaluated by means of experimental and computational methods. Interestingly, the introduction of a 4-aryl(alkyl)sulfonyl group only slightly decreased the electron donation, but it significantly increased the π-acceptance and slightly enhanced the buried volume (%Vbur) of new imidazol-2-ylidenes. New Pd/NHC complexes were obtained through selective C(2)H-palladation of some of the synthesized 4-RSO2-functionalized imidazolium salts under mild conditions. Several complexes demonstrated good activity in the catalysis of model cross-coupling reactions, outperforming the activity of similar complexes with non-substituted NHC ligands.

Abstract
A systematic investigation of imidazo- and pyrazoloiodazinium salts is presented. Besides a robust synthetic protocol that allowed us to synthesize these novel cyclic iodonium salts in their mono- and dicationic forms, we gained in-depth structural information through single-crystal analysis and demonstrated the ring opening of the heterocycle-bridged iodonium species. For an exclusive set of dicationic imidazoiodaziniums, we show highly delicate post-oxidation functionalizations retaining the hypervalent iodine center.

Abstract
Abstract:
The work describes a detailed account of the Lewis acid-catalyzed preparation of structurally variant alkoxymethyl halides. A series of Lewis acids with different halogenating agents areevaluatedfor the cleavage of bis-alkoxymethanes, where several readily available Lewis acids were found to exhibit high catalytic potential. SOCl2 with MgCl2 was found one of the best combinations for facile and efficient preparation of structurally diverse alkoxymethyl halides under solvent-free conditions. The efficacy of the methodology was established to obtain a wide range of mixed acetals through alkoxymethylation of phosphorus, sulfur, nitrogen, and oxygen containing nucleophiles. The present procedure has significant advantages including simplicity, generality, rapidity, and availability of reagents.

Abstract
One-pot syntheses are a simple, efficient and easy methodology, which are widely
used for the synthesis of organic compounds. Imidazoline is a valuable heterocyclic moiety
used as a synthetic intermediate, chiral auxiliary, chiral catalyst and a ligand for asymmetric
catalysis. Imidazole is a fundamental unit of biomolecules that can be easily prepared from
imidazolines. The one-pot method is an impressive approach to synthesize organic compounds
as it minimizes the reaction time, separation procedures, and ecological impact. Many significant
one-pot methods such as N-bromosuccinimide mediated reaction, ring-opening of tetrahydrofuran,
triflic anhydrate mediated reaction, etc. were reported for imidazoline synthesis.
This review describes an overview of the one-pot synthesis of imidazolines and covers literature
up to 2020.

Abstract
A new synthetic method of urea derivatives using copper and air was developed. These mild conditions provided moderate to very good yields for 15 examples (53-93%), while low yields were obtained with sterically hindered substrates (3 examples). The reaction was found to go through an in situ generated copper- N-heterocyclic carbene, which was then oxidized into cyclic urea derivatives possessing alkyl, benzyl, aryl, hydroxy, Boc-protected, and tertiary amine groups.

Abstract
Numerous reactions are catalyzed by complexes of metals (M) with N-heterocyclic carbene (NHC) ligands, typically in the presence of oxygen bases, which significantly shape the performance. It is generally accepted that bases are required for either substrate activation (exemplified by transmetallation in the Suzuki cross-coupling), or HX capture (e.g. in a variety of C-C and C-heteroatom couplings, the Heck reaction, C-H functionalization, heterocyclizations, etc.). This study gives insights into the behavior of M(ii)/NHC (M = Pd, Pt, Ni) complexes in solution under the action of bases conventionally engaged in catalysis (KOH, NaOH, t-BuOK, Cs2CO3, K2CO3, etc.). A previously unaddressed transformation of M(ii)/NHC complexes under conditions of typical base-mediated M/NHC catalyzed reactions is disclosed. Pd(ii) and Pt(ii) complexes widely used in catalysis react with the bases to give M(0) species and 2(5)-oxo-substituted azoles via an O-NHC coupling mechanism. Ni(NHC)2X2 complexes hydrolyze in the presence of aqueous potassium hydroxide, and undergo the same O-NHC coupling to give azolones and metallic nickel under the action of t-BuOK under anhydrous conditions. The study reveals a new role of NHC ligands as intramolecular reducing agents for the transformation of M(ii) into "ligandless" M(0) species. This demonstrates that the disclosed base-mediated O-NHC coupling reaction is integrated into the catalytic M/NHC systems and can define the mechanism of catalysis (molecular M/NHC vs. "NHC-free" cocktail-type catalysis). A proposed mechanism of the revealed transformation includes NHC-OR reductive elimination, as implied by a series of mechanistic studies including 18O labeling experiments.

Abstract
An atom-economic synthetic route to benzimidazolium salts is presented. The annulated polycyclic systems: 1,3-bis(2,4,6-trimethylphenyl)-1H-benzo[d]imidazol-3-ium chloride (1-Cl), 1,3-bis(2,6-diisopropylphenyl)-1H-benzo[d]imidazol-3-ium chloride (2-Cl), 1,3-diphenyl-1H-benzo[d]imidazol-3-ium chloride (3-Cl), and 1,3-di(pyridin-2-yl)-1H-benzo[d]imidazol-3-ium chloride (4-Cl) were prepared in a two-step synthesis avoiding chromatographic work-up. In the key step triethyl orthoformate is reacted with the corresponding N1,N2-diarylbenzene-1,2-diamines and then further transformed in situ, by alkoxy abstraction using trimethylsilyl chloride (TMSCl), and concomitant imidazole ring closure.

Abstract
Synthetic approaches to the imidazonaphthoquinone core of kealiiquinone and related Leucetta-derived alkaloids are described. The polysubstituted benzimidazole framework can be constructed through intramolecular Diels-Alder reactions of propiolate-derived enynes followed by oxidation. Adjustment of the oxidation state of the thus formed lactone allows introduction of the 2,3-dihydroxybenzoquinone moiety through a presumed benzoin-like condensation between a phthaldehyde derivative and a masked glyoxal equivalent catalyzed by a cyanide ion. Oxidation of the C2-position can be accomplished through application of an operationally simple treatment of an imidazolium salt with bleach, thus producing the corresponding 2-imidazolone. Debenzylation of a late stage intermediate en route to kealiiquinone was compromised by concomitant O-demethylation upon treatment with triflic acid resulting in the formation of non-natural 7'-desmethylkealiiquinone. Other endgame strategies were evaluated; however, these efforts did not lead to completion of a synthesis of kealiiquinone but did provide access to other closely related analogues.

Abstract
Concise syntheses of two Leucetta-derived naphthimidazole alkaloids, kealiiquinone and 2-deoxy-2-aminokealiiquinone, are described based on a biosynthetic-guided hypothesis. Advanced intermediates containing the full naphthimidazole framework are constructed through Friedel-Crafts chemistry followed by oxidation of the electron rich C-ring with hydrogen peroxide. The cytotoxicity of these alkaloids in a breast cancer cell line along with several closely related marine-derived natural products kealiinines A-C and analogs are reported.

Abstract
The total synthesis of an analogue of the marine alkaloid kealiiquinone has been completed through application of an intramolecular Diels-Alder reaction of an imidazole-containing enyne. Oxidative aromatization of the lactone adduct and N-methylation facilitates C2-oxidation via the imidazolium salt. Conversion of the lactone to the phthalaldehyde derivative and then to the dihydroxybenzoquinone was achieved via a reaction with glyoxal in the presence of KCN. Esterification of the vinylogous diacid and deprotection provided 7'-desmethylkealiiquinone.
