Abstract
Stereoselective synthesis of 3b and its cascade polyene cyclization to 18b have been described. Acyclic polyene 3b was prepared from allyl bromide 4 and 1,3-dithiane 5, and intermediates 4 and 5 were synthesized from the commercially available geraniol (6) and cyclopenten-2-one (8), respectively, using enantioselective reduction of ketone, Johnson-Claisen rearrangement, and the Suzuki reaction as key steps. Au(I)-mediated diastereoselective polyene cyclization of 3b efficiently afforded tetracyclic compound 18b.

Abstract
This review summarizes recent developments (from 2006 to 2022) in numerous important and efficient carbo- and heterocycle generations using gold-catalyzed cascade protocols. Herein, methodologies involve selectivity, cost-effectiveness, and ease of product formation being controlled by the ligand as well as the counter anion, catalyst, substrate, and reaction conditions. Gold-catalyzed cascade reactions covered different strategies through the compilation of various approaches such as cyclization, hydroarylation, intermolecular and intramolecular cascade reactions, etc. This entitled reaction is also useful for the synthesis of spiro, fused, bridged carbo- and heterocycles.

Abstract
The field of gold catalysis has been in constant expansion during the last twenty years. Based on the precept of π-activation of unsaturated simple substrates, several new rearrangements have been discovered, implying aryl, alkyne, alkene or keto derivatives as key partners. In this personal account, the main contributions in the field of gold catalysis from our group will be highlighted, emphasizing the recent reports, starting from 1,6- and 1,5-enynes and then moving to keto-ynes derivatives. The gold-catalyzed reactions will be presented starting from classical skeletal rearrangements (cycloisomerization) and then domino processes. In each part, the presentation of asymmetric versions will be highlighted.

Abstract
The indium(III)-catalyzed cascade cycloisomerization reaction of 1,5-enynes with pendant aryl nucleophiles is reported. The reaction proceeds in cascade under mild reaction conditions, using InI3 (5 mol %) as a catalyst with a range of 1,5-enynes furnished with aryl groups (phenyl and phenol) at alkene (E and Z isomers) and with terminal and internal alkynes. Using 1-bromo-1,5-enynes, a one-pot sequential indium-catalyzed cycloisomerization and palladium-catalyzed cross-coupling with triorganoindium reagents were developed. The double cyclization is stereospecific and operates via a biomimetic cascade cation-olefin through 1,5-enyne cyclization (6-endo-dig) and subsequent C-C hydroarylation or C-O phenoxycyclization. Density functional theory (DFT) computational studies on 1,5-enynyl aryl ethers support a two-step mechanism where the first stereoselective 1,5-enyne cyclization produces a nonclassical carbocation intermediate that evolves to the tricyclic reaction product through a SEAr mechanism. Using this approach, a variety of tricyclic heterocycles such as benzo[b]chromenes, phenanthridines, xanthenes, and spiroheterocyclic compounds are efficiently synthesized with high atom economy.

Abstract
The first total synthesis of juniperanol, the tricyclic sesquiterpenoid enantiomer of α-cedrol is described. The synthesis relies on stereoselective gold-catalyzed Ohloff-type propargylic ester rearrangement performed on a 10 g scale, and a carbocationic cascade in the presence of acetyl methanesulfonate. The ability of juniperanol to interfere in glucose processes in different cell types is described.

Abstract
Diverse intramolecular cyclizations involving the formation of CC bonds are described using catalytic methodologies based on Lewis superacids. Examples are presented on 1,6-diene cyclizations to gem-dimethylcyclohexane structures. Tandem cyclization of trienes are described to afford bicyclic structures in reactions involving rearrangements. Hydroarylation of olefins and of allenes is developed in catalytic FriedelCrafts-type coupling processes, which can give rise to tandem reactions. The olfactory evaluation of the series of prepared compounds is also presented.

Abstract
A straightforward methodology for the synthesis of libraries of chiral tris-ligated cationic platinum complexes and their in situ evaluation as asymmetric carbophilic catalysts in a model domino hydroarylation/cyclization reaction of a 1,6-enyne was developed. A catalyst-generation process based on a combination of a monodentate and a bidentate phosphorus ligand allowed the formation of 108 chiral complexes. One-pot screening of the stereoinduction obtained with this library in a test domino addition/cyclization reaction validated this approach and stressed the key role played by the monodentate ligand partner in obtaining high enantioselectivities. In the case of two challenging substrate/nucleophile combinations, the combinatorial approach resulted in a significant gain in enantioselectivity.

Abstract
Three natural aromadendrane sesquiterpenes, (-)-epiglobulol, (-)-4β,7α-aromadendranediol, and (-)-4α,7α-aromadendranediol, have been synthesized in only seven steps in 12, 15, and 17 % overall yields, respectively, from (E,E)-farnesol by a stereodivergent gold(I)-catalyzed cascade reaction which forms the tricyclic aromadendrane core in a single step. These are the shortest total syntheses of these natural compounds.

The
combination of the N-based pincer ligand PyBOX with Pt2+ leads to new catalysts for the enantioselective cycloisomerization
of dienyl- and trienyl-ols. The mechanistic combination of electrophilic
cyclization followed by rapid protodemetalation is surprising and
leads to a powerful construct for developing new reactions.

Abstract
A series of phosphine-Pt(2+)-catalysts is reported, which enable the oxidative cascade cyclization of poly-alkene substrates. When the terminus is appropriately arranged and a catalyst reoxidation mediator is included, several polycyclic all carbon skeletons can be obtained. In one example, a chiral P2Pt(+2) catalyst provides up to 79% ee.

Abstract
(Xylyl-phanephos)Pt(2+) in combination with XeF(2) mediates the consecutive diastereoselective cation-olefin cyclization/fluorination of polyene substrates. Isolated yields were typically in the 60-69% range while enantioselectivities reached as high as 87%. The data are consistent with a stereoretentive fluorination of a P(2)Pt-alkyl cation intermediate.

Abstract
An asymmetric concise total synthesis of the (+)-seco-C-oleanane 1 was accomplished. The successful route to this natural product involves as the key step a stepwise regio- and stereocontrolled catalytic radical polyene cascade cyclization from preoleanatetraene oxide (16), a process mediated by Cp(2)TiCl. The use of this single-electron-transfer complex permits mild cyclization conditions without using unnecessary prefunctionalizations and stops the process at the bicyclic level. Theoretical data revealed high activation energy for the third ring closure, which would account for the control of the cyclization. This process also led to natural (-)-achilleol B, camelliol A, and (+)-seco-β-amyrin as minor compounds.

Abstract
C-O, C-N and C-C bonds are the most widespread types of bonds in nature, and are the cornerstone of most organic compounds, ranging from pharmaceuticals and agrochemicals to advanced materials and polymers. Cationic gold acts as a soft and carbophilic Lewis acid and is considered one of the most powerful activators of C-C multiple bonds. Consequently, gold-catalysis plays an important role in the development of new strategies to form these bonds in more convenient ways. In this review, we highlight recent advances in the gold-catalyzed chemistry of addition of X-H (X = O, N, C) bonds to C-C multiple bonds, tandem reactions, and asymmetric additions. This review covers gold-catalyzed organic reactions published from 2008 to the present.

Abstract
We herein described the synthesis of several 3-benzyl-2,5-diarylselenophene derivatives in moderate to good yields using (Z)-benzylselenoenynes as starting material in carbocyclization reactions. The reactions were carried out under mild conditions using only t-BuOK as base, in the complete absence of transition metals or additives. The cyclized 3-benzyl-2,5-diarylselenophenes obtained in the current protocol appear highly promising and attractive intermediates for the synthesis of polysubstituted selenophenes. For instance, 3-benzyl-2,5-diphenylselenophene was treated with Br(2) provided the corresponding 3-benzyl-4-bromo-2,5-diphenylselenophene in high yield. 4-Bromoselenophene derivative was applied as substrate in the palladium catalyzed cross-coupling reactions with boronic acids to give the Suzuki type products in excellent yields.
