Abstract
The current traditional phenol production process has many shortcomings, and the efficient and clean photocatalytic one-step oxidation to phenol is gradually attracting attention. Heteropolyacids (PMo10V2) with high-density Lewis acid active sites and excellent photoelectron transfer ability are ideal choices for catalytic reactions. In this study, a copper-modified isolated dimeric hybrid nanocluster, [Cu(pyim)2]2[Cu(pyim)2(P2MoVI20MoV2VIV4O82)]2·(H2O) (pyim = [2-(pyridin-2-yl)imidazole]), was synthesized by a convenient hydrothermal method. The structural analysis demonstrated that the compound was composed of metal-organic complexes containing pyim ligands, Keggin-type heteropolyacids, and transition metal copper ions. Remarkably, this not only solves the difficulty that the heteropolymeric acid cannot be recovered by dissolving in the solvent but also introduces the copper atom as a second active center. The catalyst exhibited a benzene conversion of 15.6% and a selectivity of 85.2% in a mixed solution of acetonitrile and acetic acid under optimal reaction conditions. After four catalytic cycles, the PXRD pattern proved that the catalyst was still stable. This study provides a good idea for photocatalytic reactions and other environmental applications.

Abstract
Recently, intercalation pseudocapacitance has received significant interest as an abnormal charge storage mechanism owing to the battery-like intercalation energy storage into the bulk electrodes and the fast charge storage kinetics of electrochemical capacitors. However, intercalation pseudocapacitance of molybdenum-based polyoxometalates (POMs) for high-performance Zn ion battery (ZIB) cathodes is yet to be exploited. Herein, we demonstrate the fast and reversible intercalation pseudocapacitance of vanadium-substituted Keggin-type molybdenum-based POMs (XPMoV), where H of HPMoV is replaced by X cations (X = Li, Na, K, or Rb). This cation exchange allows cation-exchanged XPMoV to exhibit the morphological evolution into an anisotropic rodlike structure and to achieve a pillar effect on the improved chemical and structural integrity. Despite the micron-size rod morphology and the contracted lattice of (100) plane, the intercalation pseudocapacitance kinetics of XPMoV was dominated by the fast surface-confined electrochemistry and became highly reversible after the 1st cycle activation process by co-intercalation of Li+ and Zn2+ ions. Therefore, the ZIB with the KPMoV cathode delivered a high rate capability of 74.0 mAh g-1 at 20,000 mA g-1 and 87% capacity retention over 2000 cycles at 1000 mA g-1, far exceeding HPMoV and other Mo-based cathodes. This study paves the way to design the fast and reversible intercalation pseudocapacitance of POMs and the cation exchange chemistry into the improved (electro)chemical and structural integrity.

Highly Dispersed Vanadia Anchored on Protonated g-C3N4 as an Efficient and Selective Catalyst for the Hydroxylation of Benzene into Phenol. Molecules 2022; 27:molecules27206965. Abstract
The direct hydroxylation of benzene is a green and economical-efficient alternative to the existing cumene process for phenol production. However, the undesired phenol selectivity at high benzene conversion hinders its wide application. Here, we develop a one-pot synthesis of protonated g-C3N4 supporting vanadia catalysts (V-pg-C3N4) for the efficient and selective hydroxylation of benzene. Characterizations suggest that protonating g-C3N4 in diluted HCl can boost the generation of amino groups (NH/NH2) without changing the bulk structure. The content of surface amino groups, which determines the dispersion of vanadia, can be easily regulated by the amount of HCl added in the preparation. Increasing the content of surface amino groups benefits the dispersion of vanadia, which eventually leads to improved H2O2 activation and benzene hydroxylation. The optimal catalyst, V-pg-C3N4-0.46, achieves 60% benzene conversion and 99.7% phenol selectivity at 60 oC with H2O2 as the oxidant.

Abstract
The binary type-II heterojunction photocatalyst containing g-C3N4 and polyoxoniobate (PONb, K7HNb6O19) with excellent H2 production activity was synthesized by decorating via a facile hydrothermal method for the first time. The as-fabricated Nb–CN-0.4 composite displayed a maximum hydrogen evolution rate of 359.89 µmol g−1 h−1 without a co-catalyst under the irradiation of a 300 W Xenon Lamp, which is the highest among those of the binary PONb-based photocatalytic materials reported. The photophysical and photochemistry analyses indicated that the hydrogen evolution performance could be attributed to the formation of a type-II heterojunction, which could not only accelerate the transfer of photoinduced interfacial charges, but also effectively inhibit the recombination of electrons and holes. This work could provide a useful reference to develop an inexpensive and efficient photocatalytic system based on PONb towards H2 production.

Abstract
The maximum exposure of polyoxometalates (POMs) is of great significance to enhance the catalytic performance of HKUST-1 with incorporated Keggin-type POMs. Herein, two phosphovanadomolybdates were encapsulated into the HKUST-1 via a hydrothermal method to obtain two polyoxometalate-based metal-organic frameworks, formulated as [Cu12(BTC)8(H2O)12][H4PMo11VO40]@(H2O)30 (1) and [Cu12(BTC)8(H2O)12][H5PMo10V2O40]@(H2O)49 (2). Single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis indicates that two compounds contain unique high-nuclearity water clusters without organic counter cations. The octahedral-shaped water cluster (H2O)30 was constructed from square-pyramid-shaped (H2O)5 for compound 1, while the huge cage-shaped water cluster (H2O)49 of compound 2 consisted of crown-like (H2O)8 and one water molecule, which substitute the organic counter cations involved in the structural construction. More importantly, after removing the water clusters via simple heat treatment, the active sites of the two compounds were fully exposed, leading to good catalytic activities for both benzene hydroxylation reaction and oxidative desulfurization. Furthermore, the catalytic test confirmed that compound 2 may be a bifunctional heterogeneous catalyst with great promise for both benzene hydroxylation and oxidative desulfurization.

Abstract
A series of Ce x -V-g-C3N4 catalysts with different cerium content were synthesized by a facile co-assembly method. Compared with pure V-g-C3N4 catalyst, the addition of cerium facilitated the high dispersion of vanadium species as well as the benzene adsorption ability of the corresponding catalysts. Also, the existence of cerium promoted the partial reduction of vanadium species, which improved the redox property of vanadium species as the active centres. The Ce x -V-g-C3N4 catalysts showed considerably improved activity in the benzene hydroxylation reaction compared with V-g-C3N4 catalyst. Among the catalysts studied, Ce0.07-0.07 V-g-C3N4 exhibited the best catalytic activity with a benzene conversion of 33.7% and a phenol yield of 32.3% with good structural and catalytic stability, while only 24.7% of benzene conversion and phenol yield of 24.2% were obtained over 0.07 V-g-C3N4.

Abstract
A polyoxoniobate/g-C3N4 nanoporous material with functional groups has been synthesized by using carbon nitride (g-C3N4) and hexaniobate (K8Nb6O19·10H2O, abbreviated as NbO) as precursors. The structure and compositions of the as-prepared nanomaterials were characterized by XRD, FT-IR, FESEM, TEM, and XPS. These two kinds of materials interact with each other forming a hybrid composite, which can be used as an adsorbent for removing a cationic dye (methylene blue, MB) from wastewater with excellent adsorption capacity. Furthermore, parameters that can affect adsorption process including initial dye concentration, pH and temperature were investigated by bath adsorption experiments. The results indicated that the maximum adsorption capacity of NbO/g-C3N4 can reach up to 373.1 mg g−1. Moreover, the equilibrium experiment data fitted Langmuir isotherm well and the adsorption kinetics showed that the pseudo second order model can satisfyingly described MB adsorption kinetics. The thermodynamic analysis indicated that the adsorption was endothermic and spontaneous.

Abstract
Efficient, eco-friendly and sustainable access to 3,4-dihydropyrimidin-2(1H)-ones directly from alcohols under microwave and solvent-free conditions has been reported. The practical protocol involves heteropolyanion-based catalyzed oxidation of alcohols to aldehydes with NaNO₃ as the oxidant followed by cyclocondensation with dicarbonyl compounds and urea or thiourea in a two-step, one-pot manner. Compatibility with different functional groups, good to excellent yields and reusable catalysts are the main highlights. The utilization of alcohols instead of aldehydes is a valid and green alternative to the classical Biginelli reaction.

Abstract
The present study reports the first example of photocatalytic hydroxylation of benzene with O2 and H2O, both of which are the most green reagents, under visible light irradiation to afford a high turnover number.
Photocatalytic hydroxylation of benzene to phenol by dioxygen (O2) occurs under visible light irradiation of an O2-saturated acetonitrile solution containing [RuII(Me2phen)3]2+ as a photocatalyst, [CoIII(Cp*)(bpy)(H2O)]2+ as an efficient catalyst for both the water oxidation and benzene hydroxylation reactions, and water as an electron source in the presence of Sc(NO3)3. The present study reports the first example of photocatalytic hydroxylation of benzene with O2 and H2O, both of which are the most green reagents, under visible light irradiation to afford a high turnover number (e.g., >500). Mechanistic studies revealed that the photocatalytic reduction of O2 to H2O2 is the rate-determining step, followed by efficient catalytic hydroxylation of benzene to phenol with H2O2, paving a new way for the photocatalytic oxygenation of substrates by O2 and water.

Abstract
Hydroxylation of benzene by molecular oxygen (O2 ) occurs efficiently with 10-methyl-9,10-dihydroacridine (AcrH2 ) as an NADH analogue in the presence of a catalytic amount of Fe(ClO4 )3 or Fe(ClO4 )2 with excess trifluoroacetic acid in a solvent mixture of benzene and acetonitrile (1:1 v/v) to produce phenol, 10-methylacridinium ion and hydrogen peroxide (H2 O2 ) at 298 K. The catalytic oxidation of benzene by O2 with AcrH2 in the presence of a catalytic amount of Fe(ClO4 )3 is started by the formation of H2 O2 from AcrH2 , O2 , and H(+) . Hydroperoxyl radical (HO2 (.) ) is produced from H2 O2 with the redox pair of Fe(3+) /Fe(2+) by a Fenton type reaction. The rate-determining step in the initiation is the proton-coupled electron transfer from Fe(2+) to H2 O2 to produce HO(.) and H2 O. HO(.) abstracts hydrogen rapidly from H2 O2 to produce HO2 (.) and H2 O. The Fe(3+) produced was reduced back to Fe(2+) by H2 O2 . HO2 (.) reacts with benzene to produce the radical adduct, which abstracts hydrogen from AcrH2 to give the corresponding hydroperoxide, accompanied by generation of acridinyl radical (AcrH(.) ) to constitute the radical chain reaction. Hydroperoxyl radical (HO2 (.) ), which was detected by using the spin trap method with EPR analysis, acts as a chain carrier for the two radical chain pathways: one is the benzene hydroxylation with O2 and the second is oxidation of an NADH analogue with O2 to produce H2 O2 .

Abstract
A novel Cu and boron doped graphitic carbon nitride catalyst (Cu-CNB) was synthesized using cheap precursors and systematically characterized. The selective oxidation of toluene proceeded very smoothly over the catalyst at 70 °C using tert-butyl hydroperoxide (TBHP) as the oxidant to exclusively afford benzaldehyde. The catalyst can be used for at least five cycles without decrease in activity and selectivity.

Abstract
In fields of materials science and chemistry, ionic-type porous materials attract increasing attention due to significant ion-exchanging capacity for accessing diversified applications. Facing the fact that porous cationic materials with robust and stable frameworks are very rare, novel tactics that can create new type members are highly desired. Here we report the first family of polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane (POSS) based porous cationic frameworks (PCIF-n) with enriched poly(ionic liquid)-like cationic structures, tunable mesoporosities, high surface areas (up to 1,025 m(2) g(-1)) and large pore volumes (up to 0.90 cm(3) g(-1)). Our strategy is designing the new rigid POSS unit of octakis(chloromethyl)silsesquioxane and reacting it with the rigid N-heterocyclic cross-linkers (typically 4,4'-bipyridine) for preparing the desired porous cationic frameworks. The PCIF-n materials possess large surface area, hydrophobic and special anion-exchanging property, and thus are used as the supports for loading guest species PMo10V2O40(5-); the resultant hybrid behaves as an efficient heterogeneous catalyst for aerobic oxidation of benzene and H2O2-mediated oxidation of cyclohexane.
