Abstract
Photoisomerization of 1,2-di(4-pyridyl)ethylene under UV irradiation was studied by NMR and UV spectroscopy in solutions of acetone, acetonitrile and chloroform. It has been established that in the studied solutions under irradiation, geometric photoisomerization occurs: the trans-isomer transforms into the cis-isomer and then cyclization occurs. DFT modeling of the listed processes, states and UV absorption spectra of the sample in an acetonitrile solution was performed.

Abstract
The effect of the chemical structure of the equatorial ligand on the spin state of the Fe (III) ion in a series of 1-D chain complexes of the general formula [Fe(L)(tvp)]BPh4 ·nCH3 OH, where L = dianions of Schiff base containing a different number of aromatic groups: N,N'-ethylenebis (salicylaldimine) (salen) 1, N,N'-ethylenebis (acetylacetone)2,2'-imine (acen) 2, N,N'-ethylenebis (benzoylacetylacetone)2,2'-imine (bzacen) 3, and tvp = 1,2-di(4-pyridyl)ethylene, was studied by ultraviolet-visible (UV-vis) and electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) methods. The values of exchange interactions, thermodynamic parameters of spin-crossover, and electronic structure features of the Fe (III) complexes were estimated from the EPR data. The substitution of a fragment of the equatorial ligand L in the series salen-acen-bzacen changes the local symmetry of the complex in the 1-D chain, thereby affecting the spin variable properties.

Diterpenes/Diterpenoids and Their Derivatives as Potential Bioactive Leads against Dengue Virus: A Computational and Network Pharmacology Study. Molecules 2021; 26:6821. Abstract
Dengue fever is a dangerous infectious endemic disease that affects over 100 nations worldwide, from Africa to the Western Pacific, and is caused by the dengue virus, which is transmitted to humans by an insect bite of Aedes aegypti. Millions of citizens have died as a result of dengue fever and dengue hemorrhagic fever across the globe. Envelope (E), serine protease (NS3), RNA-directed RNA polymerase (NS5), and non-structural protein 1 (NS1) are mostly required for cell proliferation and survival. Some of the diterpenoids and their derivatives produced by nature possess anti-dengue viral properties. The goal of the computational study was to scrutinize the effectiveness of diterpenoids and their derivatives against dengue viral proteins through in silico study. Methods: molecular docking was performed to analyze the binding affinity of compounds against four viral proteins: the envelope (E) protein, the NS1 protein, the NS3 protein, and the NS5 protein. Results: among the selected drug candidates, triptolide, stevioside, alepterolic acid, sphaeropsidin A, methyl dodovisate A, andrographolide, caesalacetal, and pyrimethamine have demonstrated moderate to good binding affinities (-8.0 to -9.4 kcal/mol) toward the selected proteins: E protein, NS3, NS5, and NS1 whereas pyrimethamine exerts -7.5, -6.3, -7.8, and -6.6 kcal/mol with viral proteins, respectively. Interestingly, the binding affinities of these lead compounds were better than those of an FDA-approved anti-viral medication (pyrimethamine), which is underused in dengue fever. Conclusion: we can conclude that diterpenoids can be considered as a possible anti-dengue medication option. However, in vivo investigation is recommended to back up the conclusions of this study.

Abstract
Two types of Fe(III) polynuclear iron(III) 1D-chain coordination compounds of the general formula [Fe (L)(tvp)]BPh4 nSolv, where L = dianion of N,N'-ethylenebis (benzoylacetylacetone)2,2'-imine (bzacen), tvp = 1,2-di(4-pyridyl)ethylene were synthesized and studied by the electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) and magnetic susceptibility methods in the temperature range (100-300) К. Two types of spin-variable complexes are formed depending on the time of precipitation of the complexes from the same solution leading to differently solvated species. They have different characteristics of the local ligand field and the spin transition behavior. The thermodynamic parameters of spin transitions were determined from the temperature dependence of the EPR signals integral intensity. The energy levels splitting values obtained by analyzing g-factors of low-spin Fe(III) centers evidenced not only on the crucial role of low-symmetry distortions on the principal possibility of spin-crossover processes, but also on the temperature peculiarities of spin transitions.

Abstract
Herein, the syntheses, solid-state molecular structures, and characterization of two types of one-dimensional FeIII coordination polymers showing thermally induced spin crossover are reported. The reaction of [Fe(acen)Cl] (acen2− = N,N′-ethylenebis(acetylacetonylideneaminate) with 3,3′-bpy or 4,4′-bpy (bpy = bipyridine) produced zigzag and linear one-dimensional chain complexes, [Fe(acen)(3,3′-bpy)][BPh4] (1) or [NEt3H][Fe(acen)(4,4′-bpy)][BPh4]2·0.5(4,4′-bpy) (2), respectively, as confirmed by single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. Variable-temperature single crystal X-ray diffraction measurements, continuous-wave X-band electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) spectra, 57Fe Mössßauer spectra, and DC magnetic susceptibility data revealed that complex 1 exhibited a gradual and complete spin crossover at a transition temperature of 212 K, while complex 2 undergoes an incomplete spin crossover even at 400 K.

Abstract
Two heteronuclear compounds (1 and 2) containing three ferric centers linked in facial-like mode with the magnetically silent hexacyanidocobaltate(III) anion were prepared and studied. The structural investigation revealed that both compounds are tetranuclear complexes with molecular formulas of [{Fe(L1)NC}3Co(CN)3]·2CH3OH·2.5CH3CN (1) and [{Fe(L2)NC}3Co(CN)3]·2H2O·1CH3OH (2). The magnetic properties of both complexes are controlled by the molecular design of the corresponding pentadentate Schiff base anions L12- and L22-. While compound 2 with a symmetric ligand prepared from salicylaldehyde shows high-spin state properties, compound 1 containing the asymmetric ligand with naphthalene units either is low-spin in its solvated form or shows a gradual but hysteretic spin crossover event when desolvated. The magnetic behavior was analyzed with respect to the Ising-like model and spin Hamiltonian, respectively, and the results were confronted with ab initio calculations. Additionally, the influence of structural features, lattice solvent molecules, the distribution of electronic terms, and active orbitals on the spin state properties of reported complexes is discussed.

Abstract
In order to study the effect of the chemical structure of the equatorial ligand on the spin state of the Fe(iii) ion in complexes with invariable photoisomerizable 4-styrylpyridine axial ligands and different tetradentate Schiff bases, several new Fe(iii) complexes have been first synthesized, characterized, and studied by UV-vis, NMR, and EPR spectroscopies. The general chemical formula of the complexes is [Fe(SB)Sp2]BPh4·MeOH, where Sp is trans-4-styrylpyridine and SB are dianions of Schiff bases: salen, bzacen, and acen [salen = N,N'-ethylenebis(salicylaldimine) 1, acen = N,N'-ethylenebis(acetylacetonylideneimine) 2, and H2bzacen = N,N'-ethylenebis(benzoylacetonylideneimine) 3]. The results of the EPR and NMR measurements of the complexes both in the solid state and in solutions showed that the more methyl groups and less aromatic rings in the equatorial ligand, the more abrupt spin-crossover was observed in the complex. The dependence of the magnetic properties of the complexes on the state of matter and the presence of a solvent (powder, liquid solutions, and vitrified solutions) are noted.

Abstract
A nitrogen-rich ligand bis(1H-tetrazol-5-yl)amine (H(3)bta) was employed to isolate a new Fe(III) complex, Na(2)NH(4)[Fe(III)(Hbta)(3)]·3DMF·2H(2)O (1). Single crystal X-ray diffraction revealed that complex 1 consists of Fe(III) ions in an octahedral environment where each metal ion is coordinated by three Hbta(2-) ligands forming the [Fe(III)(Hbta)(3)](3-) core. Each unit is linked to two one-dimensional (1-D) Na(+)/solvent chains creating a two-dimensional (2-D) network. In addition, the presence of multiple hydrogen bonds in all directions between ammonium cation and ligands of different [Fe(III)(Hbta)(3)](3-) units generates a three-dimensional (3-D) network. Magnetic measurements confirmed that the Fe(III) center undergoes a Spin Crossover (SCO) at high temperature (T(1/2) = 460(10) K).

Abstract
Two new one-dimensional coordination polymers {[CdL(2)(H(2)O)(2)](NO(3))(2)(H(2)O)(6)}(n) (1) and {[CdLI(2)](H(2)O)(CH(3)OH)}(n) (2) have been synthesized and characterized by IR, elemental analysis, TG technique, XRPD and complete single crystal structure analyses, where L is bis(pyridin-4-ylmethylene)biphenyl-2,2'-dicarbohydrazide. The Cd(II) atom has a distorted octahedral coordination geometry with N(4)O(2) donors from four ligands and two water molecules in 1 and a distorted tetrahedral coordination geometry with NOI(2) donors from two ligands and two I(-) anions in 2, respectively. Polymer 1 shows a 1D framework structure containing bimetallic 42-membered quadrangular ring units. The adjacent 1D chains are interacted forming a 3D supramolecular network structure through multiform hydrogen bond interactions. In comparison with 1, polymer 2 is a new rampart-type chain and each chain is interacted with each other through hydrogen bond interactions to lead a 2D layer. The luminescent properties of the polymers 1 and 2 were investigated in the solid state at room temperature.

Abstract
Several potentially tridentate pyridyl and phenolic Schiff bases (apRen and HhapRen, respectively) were derived from the condensation reactions of 2-acetylpyridine (ap) and 2'-hydroxyacetophenone (Hhap), respectively, with N-R-ethylenediamine (RNHCH(2)CH(2)NH(2), Ren; R = H, Me or Et) and complexed in situ with iron(II) or iron(III), as dictated by the nature of the ligand donor set, to generate the six-coordinate iron compounds [Fe(II)(apRen)(2)]X(2) (R = H, Me; X(-) = ClO(4)(-), BPh(4)(-), PF(6)(-)) and [Fe(III)(hapRen)(2)]X (R = Me, Et; X(-) = ClO(4)(-), BPh(4)(-)). Single-crystal X-ray analyses of [Fe(II)(apRen)(2)](ClO(4))(2) (R = H, Me) revealed a pseudo-octahedral geometry about the ferrous ion with the Fe(II)-N bond distances (1.896-2.041 Å) pointing to the (1)A(1) (d(π)(6)) ground state; the existence of this spin state was corroborated by magnetic susceptibility measurements and Mössbauer spectroscopy. In contrast, the X-ray structure of the phenolate complex [Fe(III)(hapMen)(2)]ClO(4), determined at 100 K, demonstrated stabilization of the ferric state; the compression of the coordinate bonds at the metal center is in accord with the (2)T(2) (d(π)(5)) ground state. Magnetic susceptibility measurements along with EPR and Mössbauer spectroscopic techniques have shown that the iron(III) complexes are spin-crossover (SCO) materials. The spin transition within the [Fe(III)N(4)O(2)](+) chromophore was modulated with alkyl substituents to afford two-step and one-step (6)A(1) ↔ (2)T(2) transformations in [Fe(III)(hapMen)(2)]ClO(4) and [Fe(III)(hapEen)(2)]ClO(4), respectively. Previously, none of the X-salRen- and X-sal(2)trien-based ferric spin-crossover compounds exhibited a stepwise transition. The optical spectra of the LS iron(II) and SCO iron(III) complexes display intense d(π) → p(π)* and p(π) → d(π) CT visible absorptions, respectively, which account for the spectacular color differences. All the complexes are redox-active; as expected, the one-electron oxidative process in the divalent compounds occurs at higher redox potentials than does the reverse process in the trivalent compounds. The cyclic voltammograms of the latter compounds reveal irreversible electrochemical generation of the phenoxyl radical. Finally, the H(2)salen-type quadridentate ketimine H(2)hapen complexed with an equivalent amount of iron(III) to afford the μ-oxo-monobridged dinuclear complex [{Fe(III)(hapen)}(2)(μ-O)] exhibiting a distorted square-pyramidal geometry at the metal centers and considerable antiferromagnetic coupling of spins (J ≈ -99 cm(-1)).

Ag(1)-double-chain unit is formed by linking two adjacent Ag(1)-L-chains through face-to-face π⋯π interactions, while Ag(2)-double-chain unit is formed through the combination of coordinating NO(3)(-) anions bridging interactions and π⋯π interactions between two adjacent Ag(2)-L-chains. Free ligands interact with the adjacent Ag(1)-double-chain units and Ag(2)-double-chain units to form a 3D supramolecular structure through multiform hydrogen bonds. For polymer 2, each ligand acts as a bis-monodentate bridging ligand to bind adjacent Zn(II) centers forming a one-dimensional chain structure. Furthermore, 1D chain is held together with its neighboring ones via CH⋯π interactions. The luminescent properties of the polymers 1 and 2 were investigated in the solid state at room temperature.

Abstract
We report the synthesis and characterisation of the new polytopic ligands, ddta (N,N-di(pyridin-2-yl)-4,6-di(1,4,7,10-tetraoxa-13-azacyclopentadecan-13-yl)-1,3,5-triazin-2-amine) and tptd (N(2),N(2),N(4),N(4)-tetra(pyridin-2-yl)-6-(1,4,7,10-tetraoxa-13-azacyclopentadecan-13-yl)-1,3,5-triazine-2,4-diamine). Each contains N-donor dipyridylamino binding sites as well as separate and distinct mono-aza-15-crown-5 binding sites. The ligand ddta has been used to synthesise the polymeric heterometallic SCO compound trans-[Fe(II)(NCS)(2)(ddta)(2)Na(2)](ClO(4))(2)·4CH(3)CH(2)CH(2)OH, 1, and tptd has been used to synthesise the polymeric SCO compound trans-[Fe(II)(NCS)(2)(tptd)]·CH(3)OH, 2, and the dinuclear compound cis-[(Fe(II))(2)(NCS)(4)(tptd)(2)], 3. Magnetic susceptibility measurements show that 1 and a desolvated sample of 2 each undergo a gradual, one-step spin transition with T(½) values of ~240 K and ~110 K, respectively. The paucity of inter-chain intermolecular interactions, as well as the flexible, covalent bridges between Fe(II) spin crossover sites, are likely to contribute to the gradual nature of the spin transition observed in each case. Variable temperature powder X-ray diffraction studies on 1 show the anisotropic behaviour of the unit cell parameters, where c and the b-c plane are most affected by structural changes occurring as the temperature is lowered.

Abstract
Two new one-dimension copper(II) coordination polymers [CuL(2)(NCS)(2)](n) (1) and [CuL(2)(NO(3))(2)](n) (2) (L=(C(5)H(4)N)C(CH(3))=N-N=(CH(3))C(C(5)H(4)N)) have been synthesized and characterized by IR, elemental analysis, TG technique and X-ray crystallography. Each Cu(II) atom has a distorted octahedral N(6) (1) or N(4)O(2) (2) environment with four pyridyl N atoms from four ligands and two N atoms from two NCS(-) anions for polymer 1 or two O atoms from two NO(3)(-) anions for polymer 2, respectively. A pair of bis-monodentate bridging ligands links two Cu(II) centers to form one dimension chain structure containing bimetallic 22-membered macrometallacyclic rings. 1D chain is held together with its neighboring ones via C-H⋯S hydrogen bonds for 1 and C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, C-H⋯π interactions for 2 to form a 3D supramolecular structure, respectively. The luminescent properties of the polymers 1 and 2 were investigated in the solid state at room temperature.
