Abstract
We have previously reported the first formal hydroamination of enamines for the synthesis of chiral 1,2-diamines. Here, we describe: (i) the discovery, optimization, and substrate expansion of this reaction; (ii) a novel and straightforward protocol for the "click-type" synthesis of enamines in quantitative yield utilizing sodium sulfate in a dual role as an ancillary and dehydrating agent without the need for workup or purification; (iii) the application of this methodology to the first enantioselective synthesis of orthogonally protected 1,1'-(1-(4-fluorophenyl)ethane-1,2-diyl) piperazines, a scaffold for rapid lead optimization in drug discovery; (iv) a computational investigation into the mechanism and rationalization of the enantioselectivities of the reaction.

Abstract
Vicinal diamines are privileged scaffolds in medicine, agrochemicals, catalysis, and other fields. While significant advancements have been made in diamination of olefins, diamination of allenes is only sporadically explored. Furthermore, direct incorporation of acyclic and cyclic alkyl amines onto unsaturated π systems is highly desirable and important, but problematic for many previously reported amination reactions including the diamination of olefins. Herein, we report a modular and practical diamination of allenes, which offers efficient syntheses of β,γ-diamino carboxylates and sulfones. This reaction features broad substrate scope, excellent functional group tolerability, and scalability. Experimental and computational studies support an ionic reaction pathway initiated with a nucleophilic addition of the in situ formed iodoamine to the electron deficient allene substrate. An iodoamine activation mode via a halogen bond with a chloride ion was revealed to substantially increase the nucleophilicity of the iodoamine and lower the activation energy barrier for the nucleophilic addition step.

Abstract
The oxidative aminative vicinal difunctionalization of alkenes or related chemical feedstocks has emerged as sustainable and multipurpose strategies that can efficiently construct two -N bonds, and simultaneously prepare the synthetically fascinating molecules and catalysis in organic synthesis that typically required multi-step reactions. This review summarized the impressive breakthroughs on synthetic methodologies (2015-2022) documented especially over inter/intra-molecular vicinal diamination of alkenes with electron-rich or deficient diverse nitrogen sources. These unprecedented strategies predominantly involved iodine-based reagents/catalysts, which resent the interest of organic chemists due to their impressive role as flexible, non-toxic, and environmentally friendly reagents, resulting in a wide variety of synthetically useful organic molecules. Moreover, the information collected also describes the significant role of catalyst, terminal oxidant, substrate scope, synthetic applications, and their unsuccessful results to highlight the limitations. Special emphasis has been given to proposed mechanistic pathways to determine the key factors governing the issues of regioselectivity, enantioselectivity, and diastereoselectivity ratios.

Abstract
Herein, we report a bromide-mediated, C2-selective, and oxygenative alkylation of pyridinium salts using alkenes and O2 for the synthesis of important β-2-pyridyl ketones. Notably, a quaternary carbon center was successfully installed at the C2-position of pyridine and the resulting C2-substituents were highly functionalized. The intermediary cycloadduct was isolated and further transformed into the desired product, which indicated that this three-component reaction underwent a reaction cascade including dearomative cycloaddition and rearomative ring-opening oxygenation. Finally, the bromide-mediated mechanism was discussed and active Br(I) species were proposed to be generated in situ and promote the rearomative ring-opening oxygenation by halogen bond-assisted electron transfer.

Abstract
We disclose here practical strategies toward the synthesis of morpholines and Claisen rearrangement products based on the divergent reactivity of a common halonium intermediate. These reactions employ widely available alkenes in a Lewis acid-catalyzed halo-etherification process that can then transform them into the desired products with exceptional regioselectivity for both activated and unactivated olefins. Our mechanistic probe reveals an interesting regiochemical kinetic resolution process.

Abstract
A novel iodide-catalyzed intermolecular aminooxygenation strategy is described here. Amide is used as the O- and N- source to probe for regiocontrol strategies. Notably, simple additives can be selectively introduced to achieve regiodivergent oxyamination processes for electronically activated alkenes while being regio-complementary for unactivated alkenes. Our preliminary data demonstrates that this regiocontrol strategy based on nucleophile can also be applied in asymmetric processes using chiral hypervalent iodine catalysis.

Abstract
Oxidative sulfamidation is a promising approach to the synthesis of numerous organic compounds, including N-heterocycles or unsaturated species having the sulfonamide group, which is a key structural motif of synthetic antimicrobial drugs. The formed products can undergo further reactions leading to a wide variety of functionalized sulfonamides. This review summarizes the current state of knowledge on the oxidative reactions of sulfonamides and their derivatives with unsaturated and CH-active compounds with an emphasis on dienes as substrates. This produces a diverse range of compounds possessing sulfonamide function and capable of further functionalization.

Abstract
2-Imidazolidinone and its analogues are omnipresent structural motifs of pharmaceuticals, natural products, chiral auxiliaries, and intermediates in organic syntheses. Over the years, continuous efforts have been addressed to the development of sustainable and more efficient protocols for the synthesis of these heterocycles. This review gives a summary of the catalytic strategies to access imidazolidin-2-ones and benzimidazolidin-2-ones that have appeared in the literature from 2010 to 2018. Particularly important contributions beyond the timespan will be mentioned. The review is organized in four main chapters that identify the most common approaches to imidazolidin-2-one derivatives: (1) the direct incorporation of the carbonyl group into 1,2-diamines, (2) the diamination of olefins, (3) the intramolecular hydroamination of linear urea derivatives and (4) aziridine ring expansion. Methods not included in this classification will be addressed in the miscellaneous section.

Abstract
The potential of homogeneous oxidation catalysis employing bromine has remained largely unexplored. We herein show that the combination of a tetraalkylammonium bromide and meta-chloroperbenzoic acid offers a unique catalyst system for the convenient and selective oxidation of saturated C(sp3 )-H bonds upon photochemical initiation with day light. This approach enables remote, intramolecular, position-selective C-H amination as demonstrated for 20 different examples. For the first time, an N-halogenated intermediate was isolated as the active catalyst state in a catalytic Hofmann-Löffler reaction. In addition, an expeditious one-pot synthesis of N-sulfonyl oxaziridines from N-sulfonamides was developed and exemplified for 15 transformations. These pioneering examples provide a change in paradigm for molecular catalysis with bromine.

Abstract
An environmentally benign, copper-catalyzed diazidation of a broad range of olefins, including vinylarenes, unactivated alkenes, allene, and dienes, under mild conditions with TMSN3 (trimethylazidosilane) as azido source, has been developed. This reaction can be carried out in organic solvent or in aqueous solution where water is the sole solvent. The functional group compatibility of this reaction is good, which is proved by late-stage functionalizations of complex substrates.

Abstract
A copper-catalyzed aminoazidation of unactivated alkenes is achieved for the synthesis of versatile unsymmetrical 1,2-diamine derivatives. This transformation offers an effective approach to installing an amide and an azide from two diffenent amino precursors onto both terminal and internal alkenes, with remarkable regio- and stereoselectivity. Mechanistic studies show that this diamination reaction proceeds via a nucleophilic amino cyclization followed by an intermolecular C-N bond formation using electrophilic azidoiodinane. This pathway differs from previous azidoiodinane-initiated alkene functionalization, suggesting new reactivity of azidoiodinane. Furthermore, this aminoazidation reaction provides an efficient strategy to introduce azide, one of the most useful chemical reporters, onto a broad range of bioactive azaheterocycles, offering new opportunities in bioorthogonal chemistry and biological studies. Rapid syntheses of 5-HT2C agonist, (-)-enduracididine and azido-cholesterol derivatives demonstrate broad applications of this method in organic synthesis, medicinal chemistry, and chemical biology.

Abstract
A step-economical access to polysubstituted aminoimidazoles has been accomplished via alkene vicinal C-N bonds formation of 2-bromo-2-alkenones with guanidine avoiding its NH-protection/derivatization prerequisite for electronic modulation. The approach has excellent substrate scope, is amenable to diverse guanidine-containing substrates, and introduces distinctive substitutions/functionalities into aminoimidazole core. It is also applicable to preparation of fused-imidazoles. The reaction involves a tandem pathway of aza-Michael addition, SN2, and a unique redox-neutral process, as evident by spectroscopic study and control experiments.

Abstract
A method for a directed stereoselective guanidinylation of alkenes is described. The guanidine unit can be delivered as an intact fragment by a hydroxy or carboxy group, usually with a high level of stereocontrol. After the guanidine delivery, the directing group can be cleaved under exceptionally mild conditions, typically by alcoholysis in the presence of acetic acid. Broad functional group tolerance and mild reaction conditions for the cycloguanidilation suggest applications in medicinal chemistry and natural products synthesis.

Abstract
The synthesis of cyclic sulfamides by enantioselective Pd-catalyzed alkene carboamination reactions between N-allylsulfamides and aryl or alkenyl bromides is described. High levels of asymmetric induction (up to 95:5 e.r.) are achieved using a catalyst composed of [Pd2 (dba)3 ] and (S)-Siphos-PE. Deuterium-labelling studies indicate the reactions proceed through syn-aminopalladation of the alkene and suggest that the control of syn- versus anti-aminopalladation pathways is important for asymmetric induction.

Abstract
A copper-catalyzed regio- and stereoselective diamination of unactivated alkenes has been developed with O-acylhydroxylamines as electrophilic nitrogen sources and oxidants. This method provides the first example of metal-catalyzed alkene diamination for directly installing an electron-rich amino group and extends the diamination scope for the synthesis of diverse 1,2-diamines. It offers a rapid and efficient approach to construct a wide range of 1,2-diamines that are an important structural motif in organic synthesis, medicines, catalysts and ligands.

Abstract
![]()
The synthesis of
1,2-diamines has been achieved through a single-step,
tandem sequence involving Rh-catalyzed aziridination followed by NaI-promoted
rearrangement to an isomeric cyclic sulfamide. Facile ring opening
of these products in hot water and pyridine affords differentially
protected vicinal diamines. Demonstration of the utility of this method
for the syntheses of (±)-enduracididine and (±)-allo-enduracididine
is highlighted.

Abstract
Vicinal diamines constitute one the most important functional motif in organic chemistry because of its wide occurrence in a variety of biological and pharmaceutical molecules. We report an efficient metal‐free, highly stereoselective intramolecular diamination using a novel chiral hypervalent iodine reagent together with its application as an efficient catalyst for the synthesis of diamines.
