Abstract
A metal- and oxidant-free three-component desulfurization and deamination condensation of amidines, isothiocyanates, and hydrazines for the synthesis of structurally diverse fully substituted 1H-1,2,4-triazol-3-amines is described. The reaction proceeds without the requirement of any external catalysts, metals, ligands, or oxidants. This [2 + 1 + 2] cyclization strategy involves C-N and C-S bond cleavage and the formation of new C-N bonds in one pot. This transformation provides a series of full substituted 1H-1,2,4-triazol-3-amines with advantages of a broad substrates scope, mild reaction conditions, environmental friendliness, and easy gram-scale applications. The fluorescence and aggregation-induced emission (AIE) properties of selected products were further tested. These synthesized 1H-1,2,4-triazol-3-amines may be worth investigating for further applications in the fields of organic chemistry, medicinal chemistry, and optical materials.

Abstract
A cerium(III)-catalyzed oxidative cyclization of kynuramine and ynones has been reported as a key reaction in the total synthesis of marine pentacyclic pyridoacridine alkaloids featuring different ring connectivity patterns. The formation of tricyclic benzonaphthyridine rings was identified in the oxidative process. By combining with an intramolecular acylation and the chemoselective late-stage functionalization of pyridine rings, different approaches with 4-10 steps have been designed to accomplish the synthesis of alkaloids demethyldeoxyamphimedine (1), amphimedine (2), meridine (3), isocystodamine (4), N-methylisocystodamine (5), N-hydroxymethylisocystodamine (6), 9-hydroxyisoacididemin (7), neolabuanine A (8), and ecionine A (9).

Abstract
The photolytic radical-induced vicinal azidooxygenation of synthetically important and diverse functionalized substrates including unactivated alkenes is reported. The photoredox-catalyst/additive-free protocol enables intermolecular oxyazidation by simultaneously incorporating two new functionalities; C-O and C-N across the C=C double bond in a selective manner. Mechanistic investigations reveal the intermediacy of the azidyl radical facilitated via the photolysis of λ3-azidoiodane species and cascade proceeding to generate an active carbon-centered radical. The late-stage transformations of azido- and oxy-moieties were amply highlighted by assembling high-value drug analogs and bioactive skeletons.

Abstract
The outbreak of SARS-CoV-2 has drastically changed our everyday life and the life of scientists from all over the world. In the last year, the scientific community has faced this worldwide threat using any tool available in order to find an effective response. The recent formulation, production, and ongoing administration of vaccines represent a starting point in the battle against SARS-CoV-2, but they cannot be the only aid available. In this regard, the use of drugs capable to mitigate and fight the virus is a crucial aspect of the pharmacological strategy. Among the plethora of approved drugs, a consistent element is a heterocyclic framework inside its skeleton. Heterocycles have played a pivotal role for decades in the pharmaceutical industry due to their high bioactivity derived from anticancer, antiviral, and anti-inflammatory capabilities. In this context, the development of new performing and sustainable synthetic strategies to obtain heterocyclic molecules has become a key focus of scientists. In this review, we present the recent trends in metal-promoted heterocyclization, and we focus our attention on the construction of heterocycles associated with the skeleton of drugs targeting SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus.

Abstract
Among many, poly(lactic acid) (PLA) has received significant consideration. The striking price and accessibility of l-lactic acid, as a naturally occurring organic acid, are important reasons for poly-(l)-lactic acid (PLLA) improvement. PLLA is a compostable and biocompatible/bioresorbable polymer used for disposable products, for biomedical applications, for packaging film, in the automotive industry, for electronic device components, and for many other applications. Formerly, titanium and other metals have been used in different orthopaedic screws and plates, but they are not degradable and therefore remain in the body. So, the development of innovative and eco compatible catalysts for polyester synthesis is of great interest. In this study, an innovative and eco sustainable catalyst was employed for PLLA synthesis. The combined CeCl3·7H2O-NaI system has been demonstrated to be a very valuable and nontoxic catalyst toward PLLA synthesis, and it represents a further example of how to exploit the antibacterial properties of cerium ions in biomaterials engineering. A novel synthesis of poly-(l)-lactic acid was developed in high yields up to 95% conversion and with a truly valuable molecular weight ranging from 9000 to 145 000 g mol-1, testing different synthetic routes.

Abstract
An efficient preparation of sulfamate-fused 2-aminopyrroles was achieved through an isocyanide-based three-component [1+2+2] annulation of isocyanides, dialkyl acetylenedicarboxylates, and sulfamate-derived cyclic imines in good to excellent yields (up to 99 %). This reaction proceeds smoothly without any activation or modification of substances under neutral and metal-free conditions. The reaction could also be conveniently performed on a gram scale.

Abstract
Herein, we disclose Ru(II)-catalyzed regioselective distal C(sp2)-H arylation of quinoline N-oxide with arylboronic acids to 8-arylquinolines. In the developed method, the Ru(II)-catalyst shows dual activity, that is, distal C-H activation of quinoline N-oxides followed by in situ deoxygenation of arylated quinoline N-oxide in the same pot. The current catalytic method features use of Ru metal as the catalyst and arylboronic acids as the arylating source under mild reaction conditions. Use of the Rh(III)-catalyst in place of Ru(II) under the same conditions afforded 8-arylquinoline N-oxides with excellent regioselectivity. Furthermore, the developed Ru(II) catalytic system is also extended for the C(sp2)-H arylation of indolines, N-tert-butylbenzamide, and 6-(5H)-phenanthridinone. Formation of the quinoline N-oxide coordinated ruthenium adduct is found to be the key reaction intermediate, which has been characterized by single crystal X-ray diffraction and NMR spectroscopy.

Abstract
An efficient tin powder-promoted cascade condensation/allylation/lactamization of 2-formylbenzoic acids, hydrazides, and allyl bromides was developed for the synthesis of isoindolinones in good to excellent yields under mild conditions without any other additives or catalysts. Further manipulation of isoindolinones by iodocyclization process afforded the tricyclic tetrahydro-8 H-pyrazolo[5,1- a]isoindol-8-one derivatives, which could be converted into more complicated tetracyclic tetrahydro-4 H-azirino[1',2':2,3]pyrazolo[5,1- a]isoindol-4-ones.

Abstract
Although isocyanide-based multicomponent reactions were proven to be simple, elegant and facile strategies for the synthesis of highly valuable nitrogen-containing heterocycles, their asymmetric versions accessing to optically active nitrogen heterocyclic compounds are rather limited. Here, we illustrate that, relying on the enantioselective addition of simple isocyanides to C=C bonds, several isocyanide-based multicomponent reactions are realized in the presence of a chiral MgII-N,N'-dioxide catalyst. In the reaction among isocyanide, TMSN3, and alkylidene malonate, three- or four-component reactions could be precisely controlled by modulating reaction conditions, supplying two types of enantioenriched tetrazole-derivatives in moderate to high yields. Possible catalytic cycles via a key zwitterionic intermediate, and the vital roles of H2O or excess ligand are provided based on control experiments. Moreover, taking advantage of this zwitterionic intermediate as a 1,3-dipole, an enantioselective dearomative [3+2] annulation reaction of nonactivated isoquinolines is achieved, furnishing chiral 1,2-dihydroisoquinolines in good to excellent results.

Abstract
An experimental technique, ultrasound-static heating, has been developed for the efficient synthesis of heterocyclic compounds. The technique involves ultrasonic irradiation and static heating processes. First, the ultrasonic irradiation process is performed to form an intermediate of the heterocyclic compound under mild conditions and the subsequent static heating process (heating the intermediate under solvent-free conditions without stirring) produces the target heterocyclic compounds via intramolecular elimination.

Abstract
Nucleophilic displacement of the propargylic alcohol is one of the sought-after methods in the current scenario. The highly nucleophilic alkyne functional moiety along with its considerably acidic terminal hydrogen atom allows the propargylic unit to play a crucial role in organic synthesis by offering a handle for further synthetic transformations. Until 2000, the most fundamental propargylic substitution reaction was the Nicolas reaction, a multi-step transformation, developed in 1972, which involved cobalt as a stoichiometric promoter. Therefore, the direct catalytic substitution of propargylic alcohols was a highly desirable method for development. The pioneering work on the Ru-catalyzed propargylic substitution reaction in 2000 encouraged many researchers to develop several novel catalytic propargylic substitution reactions, which have made rapid progress since then. The purpose of this review is to emphasise the involvement of diverse types of Lewis acid, transition metal and Brønsted acid catalysts in the propargylic substitution reaction and provide an updated summary of the recent developments in this field. The selected examples presented here are the most significant and relevant ones and we believe that this will help the readers to comprehend the scope of the propargylic substitution reaction with diverse types of catalysts and will envisage the scientific community for the future developments in this field. Direct nucleophilic displacement of the alpha-hydroxy of the propargylic alcohol is one of the sought-after methods in the current scenario. An updated summary of the recent developments in this field is presented here.![]()
