Abstract
To overcome the identification challenge of low-abundance lysine acetylation (Kac), a novel approach based on a molecularly imprinted polymer (MIP) was developed to improve the extraction capacity of Kac peptides in real samples. Green deep eutectic solvents (DESs) were introduced and used as one of the synergistic functional monomers with zinc acrylate (ZnA). Glycine-glycine-alanine-lysine(ac)-arginine (GGAKacR) was chosen as a template and N,N'-methylenbisacrylamide (MBAA) was used as a cross-linker. The obtained GGAKacR-MIP had excellent selectivity for the template with an imprinting factor (IF) of up to 21.4. The histone digest addition experiment demonstrated that GGAKacR-MIP could successfully extract GGAKacR from a complex sample. Finally, the application to the extraction of Kac peptides from mouse liver protein digestion was studied in detail. The number of Kac peptides and Kac proteins identified was 130 and 110, which were 3.71-fold and 3.93-fold higher than those of the untreated sample. In addition, the number of peptides and proteins identified after treatment increased from 5535 and 1092 to 17 149 and 4037 (3.10-fold and 3.70-fold, respectively). The results showed that the obtained MIP may provide an effective technical tool for the identification of Kac-modification and peptide fractionation, as well as a potential approach for simultaneously identifying post-translational-modified proteomic and proteomic information.

Abstract
Epitope molecularly imprinted polymers (EMIPs) are novel imprinted materials using short characteristic peptides as templates rather than entire proteins. To be specific, the amino acid sequence of the template peptide is the same as an exposed N- or C-terminus of a target protein, or its amino acid composition and sequence replicate a similar conformational arrangement as the same amino acid residues on the surface of the target protein. EMIPs have a good application prospect in protein research. Herein, we focus on classification of epitope imprinting techniques, methods of epitope immobilization on matrix materials including boronate affinity immobilization, covalent bonding immobilization, physical adsorption immobilization and metal ion chelation immobilization, and application of EMIPs in peptides, proteins, target imaging and target therapy fields. Finally, the main problems and future development are summarized.

Abstract
Lysine methylations are common protein post-translational modifications (PTMs), that play significant roles in regulating gene activities. Studies of their functions and connections with diseases have important values. However, due to the small variations from their native structures and very low component proportions, it is very difficult to extract methylated peptides from biological mixtures. In this research, a new material that utilizes sulfonated calix[4]arene (SC4A) as the recognition unit and silica coated with TiO2 as carrier, denoted as SiO2@TiO2@SC4A, was synthesized. The equilibrium binding experiments demonstrated that SiO2@TiO2@SC4A can identify lysine and arginine methylation and peptides with these methylated residues. The maximum isotherm binding capacities are 70.0, 55.9, 31.4 and 24.8 μmol g-1 for Lys(Me3), Lys(Me)2, Lys(Me) and Lys, respectively. It demonstrated that the higher the degree of methylation, the stronger the interactions. In addition, the analyses of high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) and matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometry (MALDI-TOF) demonstrated that peptides with methylated lysine or arginine can be selectively extracted from spiked histone trypsin digestion. The recoveries for the spiked GGAK(Me)R, GGAKR(Me)2 and GGAK(Me)3R are 83%, 78%, and 84% respectively. The experiments from the nuclear extracts of HeLa cells also illustrated that SiO2@TiO2@SC4A holds a potential in the enrichment and identification of lysine methylations.

Abstract
In this study, a new molecularly imprinted material, MIP@UiO-66-NH2, was synthesized with glutathione (GSH) as template and mesoporous metal organic framework (UiO-66-NH2) as matrix. The molecularly imprinted polymer was modified on the surface and into the pores of the UiO-66-NH2 by surface molecular imprinting method with thin polymer layer. Based on high specific surface area (1091.93 m2 g-1) and appropriate pore size (35 nm) of the ordered mesoporous UiO-66-NH2, the adsorption capacity for GSH reached 94.43 mg g-1, and the adsorption equilibrium could be achieved within 30 min. The adsorption isotherm data of MIP@UiO-66-NH2 could be described well by Freundlich model and the kinetic data complied well with pseudo-second-order model. In addition, the MIP@UiO-66-NH2 showed low adsorption capacity to GSH structural analogs (QL-cys = 6.51 mg g-1), suggesting great selectivity for GSH recognition. Finally, the MIP@UiO-66-NH2 was successfully applied for selective separation of GSH from BSA, skim milk and egg white tryptic digest.

Abstract
A novel epitope molecularly imprinted polymer on the surface of magnetic carbon nanotubes (MCNTs@EMIP) was successfully fabricated to specifically recognize target protein cytochrome c (Cyt C) with high performance. The peptides sequences corresponding to the surface-exposed C-terminus domains of Cyt C was selected as epitope template molecule, and commercially available zinc acrylate and ethylene glycol dimethacrylate (EGDMA) were employed as functional monomer and cross-linker, respectively, to synthesize MIP via free radical polymerization. The epitope was immobilized via metal chelation and six-membered ring formed between the functional monomer and the hydroxyl and amino groups of the epitope. The resulting MCNTs@EMIP exhibited specific recognition ability toward target Cyt C including more satisfactory imprinting factor (about 11.7) than that of other reported imprinting methods. In addition, the MCNTs@EMIP demonstrated a high adsorption amount (about 780.0 mg g(-1)) and excellent selectivity. Besides, the magnetic property of the support material made the processes easy and highly efficient by assistance of an external magnetic field. High-performance liquid chromatography analysis of Cyt C in bovine blood real sample and protein mixture indicated that the specificity was not affected by other competitive proteins, which forcefully stated that the MCNTs@EMIP had potential to be applied in bioseparation area. In brief, this study provided a new protocol to detect target protein in complex sample via epitope imprinting approach and surface imprinting strategy.

Abstract
Among various artificial antibodies, epitope imprinted polymer has been paid increasingly attention. To modulate the "adsorption and release" behavior by environment stimuli, N-isopropylacrylamide, was adopted to fabricate the thermoresponsive epitope imprinted sites. The prepared imprinted materials could adsorb 46.6 mg/g of target protein with the imprinting factor of 4.0. The template utilization efficiency could reach as high as 8.21%. More importantly, in the real sample, the materials could controllably capture the target protein from the human plasma at 45 °C and release it at 4 °C, which demonstrated the "on-demand" application potentials of such materials in the biomolecule recognition field.
