Abstract
Nanotechnology is an innovative field of study that has made significant progress due to its potential versatility and wide range of applications, precisely because of the development of metal nanoparticles such as copper. Nanoparticles are bodies composed of a nanometric cluster of atoms (1-100 nm). Biogenic alternatives have replaced their chemical synthesis due to their environmental friendliness, dependability, sustainability, and low energy demand. This ecofriendly option has medical, pharmaceutical, food, and agricultural applications. When compared to their chemical counterparts, using biological agents, such as micro-organisms and plant extracts, as reducing and stabilizing agents has shown viability and acceptance. Therefore, it is a feasible alternative for rapid synthesis and scaling-up processes. Several research articles on the biogenic synthesis of copper nanoparticles have been published over the past decade. Still, none provided an organized, comprehensive overview of their properties and potential applications. Thus, this systematic review aims to assess research articles published over the past decade regarding the antioxidant, antitumor, antimicrobial, dye removal, and catalytic activities of biogenically synthesized copper nanoparticles using the scientific methodology of big data analytics. Plant extract and micro-organisms (bacteria and fungi) are addressed as biological agents. We intend to assist the scientific community in comprehending and locating helpful information for future research or application development.

Abstract
In this work, the photocatalytic efficiency of Cu(ii)-vitamin C complex immobilized on titanium dioxide nanoparticles was exploited in the photo-assisted homocoupling reaction of aryl boronic acids under heterogeneous conditions. The homocoupling reaction affords the corresponding symmetrical biaryls in 50-97% yields at ambient temperature in the air under visible light irradiation without any need for any additive such as base or oxidant. This method tolerates various substituents on the aryl boronic acids such as halogen, carbonyl, and a nitro group. The light-dependent photocatalytic performance of the title catalyst evaluated by action spectra revealed a maximum apparent quantum efficiency (AQYs) at 410 nm demonstrating the visible-light-driven photocatalytic reaction. The as-prepared nano biophotocatalyst proved to be reusable at least six times without losing its activity. Thus this work exhibits a favorable method from the environmental and economic point of view which enables the industrially important reactions such as coupling reactions, to be carried out efficiently under photocatalytic and practically attainable conditions.

Abstract
Heterocycles have been found to be of much importance as several nitrogen- and oxygen-containing heterocycle compounds exist amongst the various USFDA-approved drugs. Because of the advancement of nanotechnology, nanocatalysis has found abundant applications in the synthesis of heterocyclic compounds. Numerous nanoparticles (NPs) have been utilized for several organic transformations, which led us to make dedicated efforts for the complete coverage of applications of metal nanoparticles (MNPs) in the synthesis of heterocyclic scaffolds reported from 2010 to 2019. Our emphasize during the coverage of catalyzed reactions of the various MNPs such as Ag, Au, Co, Cu, Fe, Ni, Pd, Pt, Rh, Ru, Si, Ti, and Zn has not only been on nanoparticles catalyzed synthetic transformations for the synthesis of heterocyclic scaffolds, but also provide an inherent framework for the reader to select a suitable catalytic system of interest for the synthesis of desired heterocyclic scaffold.

Abstract
Transition metal and nanocarbon-based composites with high activity and stability draw great attention in electro-Fenton system for organic pollutants removal. In this study, HKUST-1-derived Cu@C nanoparticles embedded within three-dimensional reduced graphene oxide (rGO) network (denoted as 3DG/Cu@C) is synthesized through a simple strategy. The prepared catalyst shows ordered 3D porous carbon structure and Cu@C NPs are uniformly dispersed in the matrix. The 3DG/Cu@C is used as heterogeneous electro-Fenton (hetero-EF) catalyst and shows outstanding performance in various persistent organic pollutants removal. High concentration Rhodamine B (RhB) (40 mg L-1) can achieve a complete decolorization within 150 min with 25 mg L-1 3DG/Cu@C catalyst, which is one of the lowest catalyst dosages in hetero-EF for RhB removal. More importantly, the 3DG/Cu@C achieves high RhB mineralization efficiency of 81.5% and exhibits high catalytic performance in a wide pH window from 3 to 9. The 3DG/Cu@C also remains high efficiency after five successive reaction cycles. The working mechanism study shows that RhB is mainly oxidized by •OH and O2•- radicals through hetero-EF and anodic oxidation processes. The high stability and outstanding performance of 3DG/Cu@C provide new insights in organic pollutants removal by hetero-EF process with transition metal and nanocarbon-based catalysts.

Abstract
The use of graphene derivatives as supports improves the properties of heterogeneous catalysts, with graphene oxide (GO) being the most frequently employed. To explore greener possibilities as well as to get some insights into the role of the different graphenic supports (GO, rGO, carbon black, and graphite nanoplatelets), we prepared, under the same standard conditions, a variety of heterogeneous Cu catalysts and systematically evaluated their composition and catalytic activity in azide-alkyne cycloadditions as a model reaction. The use of sustainable graphite nanoplatelets (GNPs) afforded a stable CuI catalyst with good recyclability properties, which are compatible with flow conditions, and able to catalyze other reactions such as the regio- and stereoselective sulfonylation of alkynes (addition reaction) and the Meerwein arylation (single electron transfer process).

C, MATERIALS FOR BIOLOGICAL APPLICATIONS 2017; 78:185-190. [PMID: 28575973 DOI: 10.1016/j.msec.2017.04.072] [Citation(s) in RCA: 26] [Impact Index Per Article: 3.7] [Reference Citation Analysis] [Abstract] [Key Words] [MESH Headings] [Track Full Text] [Subscribe] [Scholar Register] [Received: 01/13/2017] [Revised: 04/11/2017] [Accepted: 04/13/2017] [Indexed: 01/08/2023]
Abstract
The Cu@Pt/C nanocomposites have been synthesized via two-step reduction method. Electrochemical observations showed that the Cu@Pt/C had better electrocatalytic activity for the reduction of hydrogen peroxide than Pt/C, with a wide linear range between 0.50μM and 32.56mM, a high sensitivity of 351.3μAmM-1cm-2, and a low detection limit of 0.15μM (signal/noise=3). Furthermore, the sensor based on Cu@Pt/C has potential applications due to its excellent long-time stability, good reproducibility and acceptable selectivity.
