Abstract
Bipolar disorder is commonly treated with lithium carbonate. The concentration of lithium in the blood serum should be closely monitored in patients who require long-term lithium therapy. To date, no colorimetric method of detecting lithium ions has been reported using nanosensors. We have developed a novel chemosensor based on nanozyme (NZ) to address this clinical need. The GO-Ag2O NZs were synthesized by a sonochemical method and used as a colorimetric nanosensor to detect lithium ions in human blood serum (Li (I)). To characterize NZs, various techniques were employed, including XRD, FTIR, TEM, FESEM, EDX, Raman spectroscopy, BET, DLS, Zeta potential, and ICP-OES. According to TEM and FESEM images of GO-Ag2O, the nanoparticles (NPs) of Ag2O are uniformly distributed on the surface of 2D graphene oxide sheets. In addition, silver oxide nanoparticles exhibited a cubic morphology with an average size of 3.5 nm. We have examined the performance of the NZs in an aqueous medium and in human blood serum that contains Li (I). A colorimetric test revealed that NZs synthesized in the presence of ultrasound were more sensitive to Li (I). According to the linearity of the calibration curves' ranges, Li (I) has a limit of detection (LOD) of 0.01 µg/mL. Furthermore, it displayed a linear range between 0 and 12 µg/mL. GO-Ag2O NZs showed noticeable color changes from green to orange after exposure to Li (I). An incubation time of two minutes was found to be the most effective for sensing. This innovative approach provides a reliable method for monitoring lithium levels and ensuring patient safety during long-term lithium therapy for bipolar disorder.

Abstract
Fluorescent sensors with single reading are generally subject to unpredictable disturbs from environmental and artificial factors. In order to overcome this barrier of detection reliability, a paper-based optical sensor with proportional fluorescence was established and further combined with a smartphone for visual, on-site and quantitative detection of Fe3+, which affects the color, smell and taste of water, and endangers the health of plants and animals. The ratio fluorescent probe was fabricated by rhodamine B and carbon quantum dots derived from xylan. The red fluorescence of rhodamine B was inert to Fe3+, which was referred to as background. And blue emitting carbon quantum dots functioned as signal report units, which would be quenched by Fe3+ and make the fluorescence of the ratio probe change from purple to red. The quantitative detection of Fe3+ was conducted by investigating the RGB value of fluorescent images with a smartphone. With the increase of Fe3+ concentration, the R/B (red/blue) value of the fluorescent paper gradually increased. The linear detection range was 10-180 μM, and the limit of detection was 198.2 nM. The application of ratio fluorescent paper with a smartphone provides a facile method for the rapid detection of ions.

Abstract
The current study focuses on boosting the photocatalytic ability of reduced graphene oxide (rGO) by decorating the rGO nano-sheets with nickel oxide (NiOx) and silver (Ag) nanomaterials. The developed ternary nanomaterials were investigated using FTIR, XRD, FESEM, TEM, Raman, and UV-vis to evaluate the photo-degradation process. The rGO/NiOx/Ag ternary system showed promising photocatalytic dye degradation under simulated sunlight irradiance. The addition of NiOx and Ag nanomaterials widened the catalytic activity spectrum from the visible region to the UV-region. Besides, these materials hindered the electron-hole recombination, boosting the catalytic activity. The reusability results also clearly showed that the synthesized ternary nanomaterials have good reproducibility and stability for photocatalytic degradation of industrial wastewater.

Abstract
In this work, nanocomposites based on titanium dioxide and reduced graphene oxide (TiO2@rGO) with different weight percentages of rGO (4, 8, and 16 wt%) were prepared by the hydrothermal/solvothermal synthesis method and thermally treated at 300 °C. The prepared nanocomposites were explored for the removal of methylene blue dye (MB) in the presence of simulated solar illumination as well as natural sunlight. The structural, morphological, chemical, and optical properties of the as-synthesized TiO2@rGO nanocomposites were characterized. The obtained results of the graphene-based nanocomposite materials indicated the existence of interactions between TiO2 and rGO, i.e., the Ti-O-C bond, which confirmed the successful integration of both components to form the TiO2@rGO nanocomposites. The addition of rGO increased the specific surface area, decreased the band gap energy, and increased the photocatalytic degradation efficiency of MB from water compared to TiO2 nanoparticles. The results of photocatalytic activity indicated that the amount of rGO in the prepared TiO2@rGO nanocomposites played a significant role in the application of different photocatalytic parameters, including the initial dye concentration, catalyst concentration, water environment, and illumination source. Our studies show that the reinforcement of the nanocomposite with 8 wt% of rGO allowed us to obtain the maximum photocatalytic decomposition performance of MB (10 mg·L-1) with a removal percentage of 99.20 after 2 h. Additionally, the obtained results show that the prepared TiO2@rGO_8 wt% nanocomposite can be used in three consecutive cycles while maintaining photocatalytic activity over 90%.

Abstract
Lithium-sulfur technology is a strong candidate for the future generation of batteries due to its high specific capacity (1675 mAh g-1), low cost, and environmental impact. In this work, we propose a facile and solvent-free microwave synthesis for a composite material based on doped (sulfur and nitrogen) reduced graphene oxide embedded with zinc sulfide nanoparticles (SN-rGO/ZnS) to improve the battery performance. The chemical-physical characterization (XRD, XPS, FESEM, TGA) confirmed the effectiveness of the microwave approach in synthesizing the composite materials and their ability to be loaded with sulfur. The materials were then thoroughly characterized from an electrochemical point of view (cyclic voltammetry, galvanostatic cycling, Tafel plot, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, and Li2S deposition test); the SN-rGO/ZnS/S8 cathode showed a strong affinity towards polysulfides, thus reducing their loss by diffusion and improving redox kinetics, allowing for faster LiPSs conversion. In terms of performance, the composite-based cathode increased the specific capacity at high rate (1 C) from 517 to 648 mAh g-1. At the same time, more stable behavior was observed at 0.5 C with capacity retention at the 750th cycle, where it was raised from 32.5% to 48.2%, thus confirming the beneficial effect of the heteroatomic doping process and the presence of zinc sulfide nanoparticles.

Abstract
Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) are a class of important porous, crystalline materials composed of metal ions (clusters) and organic ligands. Owing to the unique redox chemistry, photochemical and electrical property, and catalytic activity of Cu2+/+, copper-based MOFs (Cu-MOFs) have been recently and extensively explored in various biomedical fields. In this review, we first make a brief introduction to the synthesis of Cu-MOFs and their composites, and highlight the recent synthetic strategies of two most studied representatives, three-dimensional HKUST-1 and two-dimensional Cu-TCPP. The recent advances of Cu-MOFs in the applications of cancer treatment, bacterial inhibition, biosensing, biocatalysis, and wound healing are summarized and discussed. Furthermore, we propose a prospect of the future development of Cu-MOFs in biomedical fields and beyond.

Abstract
The integration of 2D graphene sheets into a porous and macroscopic structure is extremely attractive for application in several electrochemical fields. In this regard, for the first time, the synthesis of 3D graphene aerogels is reported by using a rapid, easy, cost-effective, and scalable at industrial level methodology. These aerogels integrate the intrinsic properties of graphene with a high pore volume. To achieve this ultraporous graphene network, resorcinol/formaldehyde polymer with controllable porosity is employed as a binder and a cross-linker material, and a graphene oxide solution provides the graphene building blocks. Two series of materials with and without catalyst for resorcinol/formaldehyde reaction and with different synthesis conditions and graphene contents are studied. The resulting graphene aerogels present low density, large macroporosity, and electrical conductivity values as high as 852 S m-1 , with 97.58% of porosity, which is the highest value of electrical conductivity reported so far in the literature for ultralight-weight graphene aerogels.

Abstract
Herein, a simple and facile one-step hydrothermal carbonization synthesis procedure for the fabrication of N, Cu-doped carbon quantum dots (N, Cu-CQDs) as a peroxidase-mimicking enzyme was reported. The peroxidase-like performance of N, Cu-CQDs was assessed based on the oxidative coupling reaction of phenol with 4-aminoantipyrine (4-AAP) in the presence of hydrogen peroxide (H2O2). The N, Cu-CQDs/4-AAP/H2O2 system was applied to sensing phenol based on double signals of absorption spectra (or colorimetric visualization) as well as fluorescence spectra. The obtained limits of detection (LODs) were as low as 0.12 μM and 0.02 μM, respectively. Moreover, the proposed method was successfully applied to the determination of phenol in sewage with satisfactory recovery. Our results demonstrate that the N, Cu-CQDs/4-AAP/H2O2/phenol sensing system has a great potential prospect for applications in environmental chemistry and biotechnology.

Abstract
The exceptional electrical, thermal, optical and mechanical properties have made two dimensional sp2 hybridized graphene a material of choice in both academic as well as industrial research. In the last few years, researchers have devoted their efforts towards the development of graphene/polymer, graphene/metal nanoparticle and graphene/ceramic nanocomposites. These materials display excellent mechanical, electrical, thermal, catalytic, magnetic and optical properties which cannot be obtained separately from the individual components. Fascinating physical and chemical properties are displayed by noble metal nanomaterials and thus they represent model building blocks for modifying nanoscale structures for diverse applications extending from catalysis, optics to nanomedicine. Insertion of noble metal (Au, Ag) nanoparticles (NPs) into chemically derived graphene is thus of primary importance to open new avenues for both materials in various fields where the specific properties of each material act synergistically to provide hybrid materials with exceptional performances. This review attempts to summarize the different synthetic procedures for the preparation of Ag and Au NPs/reduced graphene oxide (rGO) composites. The synthesis processes of metal NPs/rGO composites are categorised into in-situ and ex-situ techniques. The in-situ approach consists of simultaneous reduction of metal salts and GO to obtain metal NPs/rGO nanocomposite materials, while in the ex-situ process, the metal NPs of desired size and shape are first synthesized and then transferred onto the GO or rGO matrix. The application of the Ag NPs and Au NPs/rGO composite materials in the area of biomedical (drug delivery and photothermal therapy) and biosensing are the focus of this review article.

Abstract
Development of metal-doped carbon dots (CDs) to effectively modulate their electronic properties and surface chemical reactivities is still in its early stage. In this paper, a facile solid-phase synthesis strategy was developed to synthesize Cu-doped CDs (Cu-CDs) using citric acid as the carbon source and Cu(NO3)2·3H2O as the dopant, respectively. The as-prepared Cu-CDs exhibited superior peroxidase-like activity to horseradish peroxidase and were stable under a wide range of pH and temperatures. Consequently, the Cu-CD-based chemiluminescence sensing was applied to sensitively detect glucose with a low detection limit of 0.32 μM, and the recoveries and the relative standard deviation of the serum sample are 87.2-112.2 and 8.16% (n = 6), respectively. Notably, the proposed chemiluminescence sensing was also successfully applied for label-free detection of glucose in complex biological samples, which envisioned its potential applications in clinical diagnosis and other analytical assays.

Abstract
Developed here an eco-friendly, one-pot approach toward rapid synthesis of silver nanoparticles anchored reduced graphene oxide (AgNPs(TMSPED)-rGO) nanosheets via sonochemical irradiation method, using an aqueous solution mixture of GO and AgNO3 in the presence of N-[3(trimethoxysilyl)propyl] ethylenediamine (TMSPED) without any reducing agent. As synthesized decorated nanosheets was thoroughly characterized by transmission electron microscopy (TEM), atomic force microscopy (AFM), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), X-ray diffraction (XRD) spectroscopy, Raman spectroscopy and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). Pristine AgNPs(TMSPED), pristine rGO(TMSPED) and as prepared AgNPs(TMSPED)-rGO materials were employed to modify the glassy carbon (GC) electrode and demonstrated its excellent electrocatalytic activities towards glutathione (GSH). Voltammetry and amperometry measurements were utilized to assess the electrochemical properties towards the glutathione detection. When the Ag nanoparticles were anchored onto the rGO surface, the observed results illustrated that the electrocatalytic properties of rGO might be enhanced. The resulting sensor exhibits excellent repeatability and long-term stability. Furthermore, AgNPs(TMSPED)-rGO/GC electrode able to be employed for the selective determination of GSH in amperometric analysis in the presence of ascorbic acid (AA), dopamine (DA), uric acid (UA) and glucose. Finally, this modified electrode was effectively applied to determine glutathione in real samples with good recoveries.

Abstract
A room temperature reducing agent-free strategy for the synthesis of a nitrogen-doped graphene quantum dot-silver nanoparticle (N-GQD/AgNP) hybrid was presented. In this strategy, N-GQDs were used as a reducing agent and stabilizer for the formation of the N-GQD/AgNP hybrid, and the formation of the N-GQD/AgNP hybrid may result from the extraordinary reduction properties of N-GQDs, which are attributed to the nature of the surface oxygen-containing functional groups. The N-GQD/AgNP hybrid exhibits good dispersity and outstanding catalytic ability toward the oxidation of catechol (CC) and hydroquinone (HQ) by Ag(+). In the presence of the N-GQD/AgNP hybrid, the reduction of Ag(+) by CC and HQ was improved. CC enhanced the absorbance of the N-GQD/AgNP-Ag(+) system the most, and HQ followed, while resorcinol (RC) had only a little effect on the absorption intensity of the system. Thus, a sensitive and selective colorimetric sensing method based on the N-GQD/AgNP-Ag(+) system was developed for the discrimination of CC, HQ and RC. A good linear relationship was obtained from 0.1 to 15.0 μM for CC and from 0.3 to 20.0 μM for HQ. The detection limits of CC and HQ were 0.03 and 0.1 μM, respectively. In addition, the proposed method also shows a high selectivity for the detection of CC and HQ, and appreciable changes in color of the N-GQD/AgNP-Ag(+) system toward CC, RC and HQ were observed.
