Abstract
In this study, we designed and synthesized a new class of aggregation-induced emission luminogens, which was inspired and developed from the structure of tetraphenyl-1,3-butadienes derivative (TPB-1) through the minus strategy by removing one of the phenyl groups. Among them, L1 and L4 exhibited an aggregation-induced emission effect and multistimuli-responsive chromic behavior. Moreover, two types of single crystals of L1 were obtained, and their different emission behaviors were elucidated clearly by analyzing the single-crystal data.

Abstract
Development of new mechanochromic luminescent (MCL) materials from aggregation-induced emission luminogens (AIEgens) has attracted wide attention due to their potential application in multiple areas. However, rational design and crafting of new MCL materials from the simple AIEgens skeleton is still a big challenge because of the undesirable concentration quenching effect. In this study, we have constructed a new class of MCL materials by adding one phenyl as a new rotator and incorporating one pair of electron donor (D) and acceptor (A) into the system of rofecoxib skeleton. This strategy endowed the compounds (Y1-Y8) with tunable emission behavior and some of them with the AIE effect and reversible MCL behavior. These properties may be caused by the highly twisted conformation and loosely molecular packing modes, which were elucidated clearly by analyzing the data of single-crystal X-ray diffraction, powder X-ray diffraction, and differential scanning calorimetry. Further investigation revealed that Y7 displayed acidochromic property due to the protonation of the nitrogen atom. Moreover, Y7, as a typical compound, showed its potential applications in the area of anticounterfeiting, pH sensor, and LD-specific bioimaging.

Abstract
Aggregation-induced emission (AIE) has attracted much attention in the past 2 decades. To develop novel AIE-active materials, ACQ-to-AIE transformation via regioisomerization is one of the most straightforward method. However, most of the reported ACQ-to-AIE transformations are achieved by migrating bulky units. In this work, a facile conversion was realized by migrating a small pyrrolidinyl group from para- to ortho-position on the rofecoxib scaffold. As a result, a pair of new isomers named MOX2 and MOX4 exhibited AIE behavior and ACQ activity, respectively. Moreover, MOX2 also showed solvatochromic, mechanochromic, and acidochromic properties with reversible multi-stimulus behavior. Single crystal X-ray analysis of MOX2 revealed that the molecular conformation and its packing mode were responsible for the AIE emission behavior. Further investigation indicated that MOX2 showed high lipid droplets staining selectivity. Taken together, the current work not only provides a new design philosophy for achieving ACQ-to-AIE conversion by migrating a small pyrrolidinyl group but also presents a promising candidate MOX2 for potential applications such as in security ink, optical recording and biological applications.

Abstract
In this work, we synthesized a pair of positional isomers by attaching a small electron-donating pyrrolidinyl group at ortho- and para-positions of a conjugated core. These isomers exhibited totally different fluorescent properties. PDB2 exhibited obvious aggregation-induced emission properties. In contrast, PDB4 showed the traditional aggregation-caused quenching effect. Their different fluorescent properties were investigated by absorption spectroscopy, fluorescence spectroscopy, density functional theory calculations and single-crystal structural analysis. These results indicated that the substituent position of the pyrrolidinyl groups affects the twisted degree of the isomers, which further induces different molecular packing modes, thus resulting in different fluorescent properties of these two isomers. This molecular design concept provided a new accurate strategy for designing new aggregation-induced emission luminogens.

Abstract
Amines are widely used in many fields including agriculture, dyes, medicine and food processing. However, volatile amine vapors could initiate acute and serious damage to human bodies. Thus, highly efficient detection of volatile amine vapors has great importance for academic research as well as practical application. In this work, a turn-on type fluorescent sensor BZCO has been developed, which could be used to detect volatile amine vapors. The portable BZCO sensor can be easily prepared through immersing filter paper into its CH2Cl2 solution and then evaporating it to dryness. This paper-based amine vapor sensor exhibits high sensitivity with a relatively low detection limit at 3.82 ppm. It also has good selectivity for discriminating amine vapors from volatile organic solvents. The detection mechanism has been confirmed by UV-vis spectral analysis. The practical applications of this paper-based BZCO sensor, such as detection of food spoilage and fluorescent security ink, have been investigated. This work has developed a new fluorescent sensor BZCO, which has broad applications in various fields, including amine gas detection, security and anti-counterfeiting materials.

Abstract
Mechanochromic luminescence materials have attracted rapidly growing interest. Nevertheless, the designed synthesis of such materials remains a challenge, and there have been few examples based on weak intramolecular interactions. Herein, we report a new approach for preparing mechanochromic luminescence materials of Cu(I) complexes, i.e., constructing a photoluminescence system that bears a large coplanar multinuclear Cu(I) unit showing weak intramolecular π···π interactions with the planar rings of the coordinated ligands in the molecule. Using it, a series of novel mechanochromic luminescent tetranuclear Cu(I) complexes have been successfully designed and synthesized. As revealed by single-crystal X-ray crystallography, these Cu(I) complexes share an identical {Cu4[μ3-η2(N,N),η1(N),η1(N)-pyridyltetrazole]2}2+ planar fragment whose coplanar pyridyl rings exhibit weak intramolecular π···π interactions with the phenyl rings of the coordinated phosphine ligands in the molecule. All of these Cu(I) complexes exhibit reversible mechanochromic luminescence, which can be attributed to the change in the rigidity of the molecular structure resulting from the disruption and restoration of intramolecular π···π interactions between the pyridyl and phenyl rings triggered by grinding and CH2Cl2 vapor, as supported by powder X-ray diffraction and Fourier transform infrared spectrometry. In addition, the results might provide a new route for developing mechanochromic luminescence materials of Cu(I) complexes for intelligent responsive luminescent devices.

Abstract
Smart materials displaying changes in color and optical properties in response
to acid stimuli are known as acidochromic materials. The recent progress and emerging
trends in the field of smart organic materials with acidochromic properties, reported in the
last seven years, are presented herein. The molecular design of acidochromic organic materials,
the origin of the chromic and fluorochromic response to acid stimuli, and related
mechanisms are also discussed. Materials and systems covered in the review are divided
according to the presence of basic moiety undergoing reversible protonation/
deprotonation, such as pyridine, quinoline, quinoxaline, azole, amine derivatives, etc.,
in the molecules. Many donor-acceptor molecules displaying acidochromic behavior are
cited. Alterations in visual color change and optical properties supporting acidochromism
are discussed for each example. Mechanistic studies based on the theoretical calculations,
single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis, and powder pattern diffraction analysis are also discussed here. The
application of these acidochromic molecules as acid-base switches, sensor films, self-erasable and rewritable
media, data security inks, data encryption, molecular logic gates, etc., are also reported. Thus, this review article
aims at giving an insight into the design, characterization, mechanism, and applications of organic acidochromic
materials, which will guide the researchers in designing and fine-tuning new acidochromic materials
for desired applications.
