Abstract
The first regio- and stereoselective difluoroalkylthiocyanation of alkynes with BrCF2R and KSCN has been disclosed under visible light-induced copper catalysis. The copper complex photosensitizer formed in situ not only promotes the generation of CF2-alkyl radicals but also facilitates the construction of C-SCN bonds, allowing the reaction to proceed smoothly without any additional photocatalysts or radical initiators. Moreover, the challenging internal alkynes can also be transformed to deliver CF2-derived tetrasubstituted olefins with potential applications in agricultural and medicinal chemistry.

Abstract
Reported herein is the 1,2-dithiocyanation of alkenes and alkynes via an efficient and facile electrochemical method. This approach not only showed a broad substrate scope and good functional-group compatibility but also avoided stoichiometric oxidants. Different from previous reports, various internal alkynes could be tolerated to provide tetra-substituted alkenes. Further gram-scale-up experiments and synthetic transformation demonstrated a potential application in organic synthesis. This process underwent a radical pathway, as evidenced by our mechanistic studies.

Abstract
An unprecedented one-pot route to achieve highly regioselective 1-sulfur-functionalized 2-nitrogen-functionalized alkenes and 2-thiocyanate indolines from unsymmetrical ynamides (readily and generally available amides) using the commercially available inexpensive iodobenzene diacetate (PIDA) as the oxidant and potassium thiocyanate (KSCN) as the thiocyanate (SCN) source has been developed. The interconversion of thiocyanate (SCN) and isothiocyanate (NCS) groups simultaneously forms C-N and C-S bonds in this metal-free approach, while introducing important functional groups into homemade alkynes. A radical-chain mechanism, involving competing kinetically controlled chain transfer at the S atom and sterically-controlled chain transfer at the N atom of the thiocyanogen molecule in this mild approach, is proposed.

Abstract
Selenium, originally described as a toxin, turns out to be a crucial trace element for life that appears as selenocysteine and its dimer, selenocystine. From the point of view of drug developments, selenium-containing drugs are isosteres of sulfur and oxygen with the advantage that the presence of the selenium atom confers antioxidant properties and high lipophilicity, which would increase cell membrane permeation leading to better oral bioavailability. In this article, we have focused on the relevant features of the selenium atom, above all, the corresponding synthetic approaches to access a variety of organoselenium molecules along with the proposed reaction mechanisms. The preparation and biological properties of selenosugars, including selenoglycosides, selenonucleosides, selenopeptides, and other selenium-containing compounds will be treated. We have attempted to condense the most important aspects and interesting examples of the chemistry of selenium into a single article.

Abstract
Herein, we report an efficient method for synthesis of novel selenocyanates of amino pyrazole, amino uracil, and amino isoxazole derivatives using in situ triselenium dicyanide from the combination of malononitrile and selenium dioxide in DMSO medium. Using the same combination but changing the stoichiometry of reagents and sequence of addition and temperature, symmetrical selenoethers of amino pyrazoles and amino uracils were prepared in good yields. Furthermore, selenocyanates of amino pyrazoles were utilized for the synthesis of corresponding alkynyl selenides in the presence of CuI and Cs2CO3. The salient features of this methodology are inexpensive starting materials, short reaction time, and good to very good yields. This method is also applicable for the gram-scale synthesis of selenocyanates of amino pyrazoles and amino uracils.

Abstract
In recent years, N-heterocyclic carbenes (NHC) have gained recognition as versatile molecules capable of acting as organocatalysts in various reactions, particularly through the activation of aldehydes via Breslow-type adducts. This organocatalytic activation has enabled the production of numerous 3,4-dihydropyran-2-ones and related derivatives. In this review, we provide an overview of the production of 3,4-dihydropyran-2-ones and derivatives via organocatalytic processes involving NHCs over the past eight years. These processes involve the use of a diverse range of substrates, catalysts, and reaction conditions, which can be classified into [4+2]-and [3+3]-type cycloadditions, primarily aimed at synthesizing this skeleton due to its biological activity and multiple stereocenters. These processes are scaled up to the gram scale, and the resulting products are often directed towards epimerization and functionalization to produce more complex molecules with potential applications in the biological field. Finally, we provide a perspective and the future directions of this topic in organic synthesis.

Abstract
Thiocyanates are common in natural products, synthetic drugs and bioactive molecules. Many thiocyanate derivatives show excellent antibacterial, antiparasitic and anticancer activities. Thiocyanation can introduce SCN groups into parent molecules for constructing SCN-containing small organic molecules. Among them, the direct introduction method mainly includes nucleophilic reaction, electrophilic reaction and free radical reaction, which can simply and quickly introduce SCN groups at the target sites to construct thiocyanates, and has broad application prospects. In this review, we summarize the research progress of direct thiocyanation in recent years.

Abstract
A convenient and efficient approach to (E)-2-iodo-3-(methylthio)acrylate has been developed through direct iodothiomethylation of alkynes with aqueous HI and DMSO under mild conditions. This novel protocol has demonstrated a unique difunctionalization of electron-deficient alkynes with a broad substrate scope and excellent functional-group tolerance. Preliminary mechanistic studies indicated that prior diiodination of alkynes, followed by nucleophilic substitution with in situ generated DMS led to the formation of (E)-2-iodo-3-(methylthio)acrylate.

Abstract
Electrochemical sulfonylation/cyclization of 2-alkynylthioanisoles with sodium sulfinates was developed under catalyst-, external oxidant- and metal-free conditions. The electrosynthesis provides sustainable and efficient access to 3-sulfonated benzothiophenes with good substrate scope and functional group tolerance. This cascade radical process has been triggered through a sulfonyl radical addition to alkynes using sodium sulfinates under electrochemical conditions.

Abstract
Here we report a novel and practical approach for preparing (E)-β-(thiocyanato)vinyl sulfones through the 1,2-thiocyanatosulfonation of terminal alkynes with NH4SCN and sulfonyl hydrazides. Advantages of this reaction include mild conditions, the absence of metal, readily available reagents, a broad substrate scope, good functional group compatibility, and excellent stereoselectivity. The radical species-induced pathway is also demonstrated by mechanistic studies.

Abstract
A direct and straightforward thiocyanation of enamides with NH4SCN under metal-free conditions has been accomplished. A variety of (E)-β-thiocyanoenamides are readily produced in a regio- and stereo-selective manner. The protocol features mild reaction conditions, good functional group tolerance and operational simplicity. The potential utility of this strategy was further demonstrated by transformation of thiocyanate into thiotetrazole-containing compounds and a Pd-catalyzed cross-coupling reaction to afford six- or seven-membered sulfur-containing heterocycles. Mechanistic insights into the reaction indicate that the reaction may proceed via a radical mechanism.

Abstract
In this review, direct cyanation, hydrocyanation, dicyanation, cyanofunctionalization and other cyanation reactions of alkynes were highlighted. Firstly, the use of nitriles and development of cyanation was simply introduced. After presenting the natural properties of alkynes, cyanation reactions of alkynes were classified and introduced in detail. Transition metal catalysed direct cyanation and hydrocyanation of alkynes gave alkynyl cyanides and alkenyl nitriles in good yields. Dicyanation of alkynes produced 1,2-dicyano adducts. Cyanofunctionalization of alkynes afforded functional cyanated compounds. Thiocyanation and selenocyanation yielded the expected functional vinylthiocyanates and vinylselenocyanates. A plausible reaction mechanism is presented if available. Cyanation of alkynes was highlighted. Direct cyanation and hydrocyanation gave alkynyl cyanides and alkenyl nitriles. Dicyanation produced 1,2-dicyano adducts. Cyanofunctionalization afforded functional cyano compounds.![]()

Abstract
Thioethers are converted to thiocyanates via fluorium-initiated dealkylative cyanation. Selectfluor is used as the oxidant, and trimethylsilyl cyanide is used as the cyanation reagent. The well-streamlined procedure is user-friendly, operationally simple, and step-economical. The current mechanistic studies show that the sulfur radical cation and cyano radical are both involved. They combine to deliver cyanosulfonium, an intermediate toward thiocyanate after dealkylation. Alternatively, a nucleophilic mechanism is also possible. Our dealkyaltive cyanation is also efficient in synthesizing thiocyanates with strongly electrophilic functionalities.

Abstract
A new, practical directed anodic C-H sulfonylation of N,N-disubstituted anilines with sodium sulfinates for producing o- or p-amino arylsulfones and diarylsulfones is described. Employing the anodic strategy, the reaction proceeds efficiently under mild (room temperature) and transition-metal- and chemical oxidant-free conditions, and enables the formation of C-S bonds via directed activation of ortho- or para-C-H bond to the amino group with broad substrate scope and excellent site selectivity.
