Abstract
Bridged cyclobutanes and sulfur heterocycles are currently under intense investigation as building blocks for pharmaceutical drug design. Two formal cycloaddition modes involving bicyclobutanes (BCBs) and pyridinium 1,4-zwitterionic thiolate derivatives were described to rapidly expand the chemical space of sulfur-containing bridged cyclobutanes. By using Ni(ClO4)2 as the catalyst, an uncommon higher-order (5+3) cycloaddition of BCBs with quinolinium 1,4-zwitterionic thiolate was achieved with broad substrate scope under mild reaction conditions. Furthermore, the first Lewis acid-catalyzed asymmetric polar (5+3) cycloaddition of BCB with pyridazinium 1,4-zwitterionic thiolate was accomplished. In contrast, pyridinium 1,4-zwitterionic thiolates undergo an Sc(OTf)3-catalyzed formal (3+3) reaction with BCBs to generate thia-norpinene products, which represent the initial instance of synthesizing 2-thiabicyclo[3.1.1]heptanes (thia-BCHeps) from BCBs. Moreover, we have successfully used this (3+3) protocol to rapidly prepare thia-BCHeps-substituted analogues of the bioactive molecule Pitofenone. Density functional theory (DFT) computations imply that kinetic factors govern the (5+3) cycloaddition reaction between BCB and quinolinium 1,4-zwitterionic thiolate, whereas the (3+3) reaction involving pyridinium 1,4-zwitterionic thiolates is under thermodynamic control.

Abstract
Dearomatization reactions have become fundamental chemical transformations in organic synthesis since they allow for the generation of three-dimensional complexity from two-dimensional precursors, bridging arene feedstocks with alicyclic structures. When those processes are applied to pyridines, quinolines, and isoquinolines, partially or fully saturated nitrogen heterocycles are formed, which are among the most significant structural components of pharmaceuticals and natural products. The inherent challenge of those transformations lies in the low reactivity of heteroaromatic substrates, which makes the dearomatization process thermodynamically unfavorable. Usually, connecting the dearomatization event to the irreversible formation of a strong C-C, C-H, or C-heteroatom bond compensates the energy required to disrupt the aromaticity. This aromaticity breakup normally results in a 1,2- or 1,4-functionalization of the heterocycle. Moreover, the combination of these dearomatization processes with subsequent transformations in tandem or stepwise protocols allows for multiple heterocycle functionalizations, giving access to complex molecular skeletons. The aim of this review, which covers the period from 2016 to 2022, is to update the state of the art of nucleophilic dearomatizations of pyridines, quinolines, and isoquinolines, showing the extraordinary ability of the dearomative methodology in organic synthesis and indicating their limitations and future trends.

Abstract
We have found a chameleonic reactivity of imidoyl sulfoxonium ylides. On the one hand, imidoyl sulfoxonium ylides react with electron-deficient reagents, such as alkynyl esters, to lead to the formation of 1,2-dihydro-pyridines. The methyl group attached to the sulfur atom acts as a methylene donor. On the other hand, imidoyl sulfoxonium ylides react with pyridinium 1,4-zwitterionic thiolates, which leads to the formation of functionalized pyrroles. Both transformations feature mild reaction conditions and good functional group tolerance.

Abstract
The three-component reaction of isoquinolines, dialkyl acetylenedicarboxylates, and 5,6-unsubstituted 1,4-dihydropyridines in acetonitrile at room temperature afforded functionalized isoquinolino[1,2-f][1,6]naphthyridines in good yields and with high diastereoselectivity. More importantly, the formal [2 + 2] cycloaddition reaction of dialkyl acetylenedicarboxylates and 5,6-unsubstituted 1,4-dihydropyridines in refluxing acetonitrile gave unique 2-azabicyclo[4.2.0]octa-3,7-dienes as major products and 1,3a,4,6a-tetrahydrocyclopenta[b]pyrroles as minor products via further rearrangement.

Abstract
Heteroarene 1, n-zwitterions are powerful and versatile building blocks in the construction of heterocycles and have received increasing attention in recent years. In particular, pyridinium and quinolinium 1,4-zwitterions have been widely studied and used in a variety of cyclization reactions due to their air stability, ease of use, and high efficiency. Sulfur- and nitrogen-based pyridinium and quinolinium 1,4-zwitterions, types of emerging heteroatom-containing synthons, have attracted much attention from chemists. These 1,4-zwitterions, which contain multiple reaction sites, have been successfully used in the synthesis of three- to eight-membered cyclic compounds over the last decade. In this review, we present the exciting progress made in the field of cyclization reactions of sulfur- and nitrogen-based pyridinium and quinolinium 1,4-zwitterions. Moreover, the mechanistic insights, the transition states, some synthetic applications, and the challenges and opportunities are also discussed. We hope to provide an overview for synthetic chemists who are interested in the heterocycle synthesis from cyclization reaction with pyridinium and quinolinium 1,4-zwitterions pyridinium and quinolinium 1,4-zwitterions.

Abstract
An efficient domino approach to assemble benzoxazoles and anthranilamides bearing dithiocarbamate moieties has been developed. The proposed route represents a Cu-catalyzed three-component reaction between readily available 5-iodo-1,2,3-triazoles, amines, and CS2. The cascade transformation is based on a denitrogenative coupling of in situ formed dithiocarbamic acids with diazo intermediates, generated via annulation-triggered triazole ring-opening. This method is applicable to nucleophilic secondary amines and features good functional group compatibility.

Abstract
A copper-catalyzed decarboxylative cascade cyclization of propargylic cyclic carbonates/carbamates with pyridinium 1,4-zwitterionic thiolates is developed. A range of fused polyheterocyclic compounds are obtained in moderate to good yields with excellent diastereoselectivities. Of particular note is that four new bonds (two C-C, one C-O/N, one C-S) and four new stereocenters could be efficiently embedded into the tetracyclic fused scaffolds in a single step.
