Abstract
PURPOSE The purpose of this study was to characterize the communicative participation and functional speech intelligibility (i.e., how children use communication and how well they are understood across everyday life) of typically developing (TD) bilingual Jamaican preschoolers and those with functionally defined speech sound disorders (fSSDs) in the COVID-19 milieu. Findings were also compared to an existing corpus of baseline data to document and explore differences in children's speech-language outcomes secondary to pandemic-related social restrictions. METHOD Thirty bilingual Jamaican preschoolers, 21 TD and nine with fSSDs, were assessed during the pandemic via telepractice. Association and univariate mean testing were completed to characterize children's communicative participation and functional speech intelligibility. Data were then compared to an existing corpus of baseline data (collected in person between 2013 and 2019), which included direct child assessment and parent reports and consisted of TD (n = 226) Jamaican Creole-English-speaking preschoolers and those with fSSDs (n = 39) to compare performance profiles across data sets. All participants attended schools in Kingston, Jamaica. RESULTS Measures of communicative participation remained stable in the context of the COVID-19 milieu for children in the TD and fSSD groups, but functional speech intelligibility outcomes for children with fSSDs deviated between in-person findings collected from children pre-pandemic. Between-groups differences were also found on measures of speech production accuracy but were no longer significant when considering telepractice as a covariate. CONCLUSIONS Findings from this investigation serve to characterize the communicative participation and functional speech intelligibility of TD bilingual Jamaican preschoolers and those with fSSDs in the COVID-19 milieu. By extension, the results comparing data from preschoolers collected during the pandemic to an existing corpus of baseline data from a different group of preschoolers provide critical insights about multilingual children's speech-language outcomes in the context of acutely changing environmental circumstances. Abstract
OBJECTIVES The objectives of the current study were to (a) identify long-term tele-audiology services reported to be implemented beyond the research phase and determine whether they are sustained, (b) map the implementation process to Standards for Reporting Implementation Studies guidelines and (c) map the factors that influenced its sustainability to the Implementation Outcomes Framework (IOF) to understand the gaps from an implementation research perspective. STUDY DESIGN, SETTING AND PARTICIPANTS This cross-sectional study included a scoping review of articles describing long-term tele-audiology services from around the world to determine the factors influencing the implementation. Six electronic databases (PubMed, Cochrane Library, Web of Science, Scopus, Google Scholar and ProQuest) were searched for literature published between 2010 and 2023. This was followed by semistructured interviews (SSIs), which were guided by the IOF. Six project implementers were interviewed to obtain an in-depth understanding of factors that influenced sustainability of these tele-audiology services. Thematic analysis of the interview transcripts was carried out using a hybrid inductive-deductive approach. RESULTS Data were extracted from 32 tele-audiology studies included in the review, which were then mapped to 21 projects. The findings of the scoping review reveal that tele-audiology services were predominantly provided using synchronous telepractice methods. The 'professional-facilitator-patient' model was most commonly used. None of the studies reported the use of implementation research and/or outcome frameworks. Factors that influenced sustainability of tele-audiology services were identified from the combined results of the scoping review and the SSIs. These factors could be mapped to implementation outcomes of acceptability, adoption, feasibility, implementation cost and sustainability. CONCLUSION Implementation research and/or outcome framework should be used to guide the implementation processes, its evaluation and measurement of outcomes systematically in tele-audiology service delivery. When such frameworks are used, gaps in information regarding the context influencing implementation, reporting of fidelity and adaptability measures can be addressed.

Abstract
PURPOSE This study was designed to examine the outcomes of Combined Aphasia and Apraxia of Speech Treatment (CAAST) administered remotely in terms of acquisition and generalization effects and to compare these effects to previous in-person CAAST studies and Response Elaboration Training (RET)/Modified-Response Elaboration Training (M-RET) benchmarks. METHOD Multiple probe designs across participants and behaviors were employed with three speakers with chronic aphasia and apraxia of speech. Correct information units (CIUs) were the primary outcome measure to measure changes in language production. Percent consonants correct (PCC) was used as the secondary outcome measure to evaluate changes in speech sound accuracy. Production of CIUs was compared with existing benchmarks from Bunker et al.'s (2019) meta-analysis of previous RET/M-RET studies. In addition, both CIUs and PCC were compared with the most recent CAAST in-person studies. RESULTS All participants demonstrated substantial increases in CIUs for treated and untreated picture sets, comparable to outcomes of in-person CAAST administration. These language changes were maintained at posttreatment intervals for all participants. PCC also improved for all participants, with gains in articulatory accuracy being maintained posttreatment. CONCLUSIONS Improvements in CIU production and PCC for all three participants were in keeping with results from Wambaugh et al. (2017). These findings provide additional support for the efficacy of CAAST and indicate that remote administration may be a viable alternative to in-person application. Abstract
PURPOSE This investigation was designed to systematically examine the acquisition, maintenance, and response generalization effects of Sound Production Treatment (SPT) delivered via telehealth in comparison to existing in-person outcomes for SPT. METHOD A multiple-baseline design across behaviors and participants was used with two individuals with chronic apraxia of speech (AOS) and aphasia. Accuracy of target speech sounds in treated and untreated words within phrases served as the dependent variable. RESULTS Both participants demonstrated positive gains for treatment and generalization items. Participant 1 demonstrated gains for both sets of treatment items with the application of treatment, but production accuracy at 2 and 6 weeks posttreatment was inconsistent. Participant 2 demonstrated large gains for both sets of treatment items with good maintenance at 2 and 6 weeks posttreatment. Effect sizes for both participants were similar to the traditional (in-person) SPT effect size benchmarks. CONCLUSIONS The positive outcomes from this study indicate that individuals with AOS can benefit from SPT delivered via telehealth. These findings warrant further research examining the effects of SPT through telehealth and should include individuals with AOS with varying severity. This investigation serves as the first telehealth study to systematically examine treatment outcomes for SPT.

Abstract
AIM To synthesize existing evidence on the effectiveness of speech-language teleinterventions delivered via videoconferencing to users of augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) devices. METHOD A systematic literature search was conducted in 10 electronic databases, from inception until August 2021. Included were speech-language teleinterventions delivered by researchers and/or clinicians via videoconferencing to users of AAC devices, without restrictions on chronological age and clinical diagnosis. The quality of the studies included in the review was appraised using the Downs and Black checklist and the Single-Case Experimental Design Scale; risk of bias was assessed using the Risk Of Bias In Non-Randomized Studies - of Interventions and the single-case design risk of bias tools. RESULTS Six teleinterventions including 25 participants with a variety of conditions, such as Down syndrome, autism, Rett syndrome, and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis met the inclusion criteria. Five studies used a single-case experimental design and one was a cohort study. Teleinterventions included active consultation (n = 2), functional communication training (n = 2), brain-computer interface (n = 1), and both teleintervention and in-person intervention (n = 1). All teleinterventions reported an increase in participants' independent use of AAC devices during the training sessions compared to baseline, as well as an overall high satisfaction and treatment acceptability. INTERPRETATION Speech-language teleinterventions for users of AAC devices show great potential for a successful method of service delivery. Future telehealth studies with larger sample sizes and more robust methodology are strongly encouraged to allow the generalization of results across different populations. WHAT THIS PAPER ADDS Individuals can learn to use augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) devices independently during tele-AAC interventions. Service providers and recipients reported an overall high satisfaction and acceptability for AAC services delivered via teleinterventions. Speech-language teleinterventions may be an effective method of providing AAC intervention services.

Abstract
Background: Telepractice emerged as a solution to overcome the challenges of access issues in the delivery of healthcare. Telepractice in speech language pathology (SLP) has existed for nearly a decade yet there is a significant knowledge gap with respect to the factors influencing the implementation of telepractice as a routine or long-term, sustained effort. This mixed-methods study aimed to identify implementation factors that influence the provision of telepractice in SLP services. Method: A mixed-methods study consisting of a scoping review and semi-structured interviews (SSI) was carried out. Articles that described telepractice in SLP were included based on an operational definition of implementation and a set of inclusion criteria. Results: Data was extracted from 11 studies that were mapped to nine projects in telepractice in SLP. The broad focus areas identified included diagnostics and evaluation, therapeutics and comprehensive assessment, management and follow-up care services. Synchronous/ real-time telepractice methods were always used for the provision of diagnostic testing or when providing therapy services using video conferencing. The ‘
professional-facilitator-patient’ model was used most commonly followed by the ‘
professional-patient’ model. Barriers for long-term sustainability included inadequate initial capital investment, lack of reimbursement and payment options, low internet speed and bandwidth, resistance and hesitancy to use telepractice from the patient’s end, lack of organizational policies and uniform regulations. Sustainable source of funding, having a dedicated team of professionals and technicians with clear roles and responsibilities, and inclusion of systematic planning facilitated implementation. Conclusion: In general, telepractice in SLP was not explicitly guided by implementation science or framework. The use of implementation frameworks ensures systematic planning and feasibility assessment to inform the scale-up of implementation. Therefore, it would be worthwhile for program implementers to consider these aspects when exploring telepractice services.

Abstract
PURPOSE The global impact of the COVID-19 pandemic has opened opportunities for service providers and patients to continue with clinical services in certain extraordinary settings and circumstances. Telerehabilitation in the field of speech language pathology in India is still at its infancy, with a majority of the Speech Language Pathologists (SLP) accustomed with the conventional face-to-face system of service delivery. The present study aims to gather the knowledge, attitudes, and practices (KAP) of SLPs in India regarding telerehabilitation services during the pandemic. METHODS The study was conducted in three phases: phase I involved the development and validation of a questionnaire to explore the KAP of SLPs regarding telerehabilitation services. The items were framed based on a Likert rating scale (strongly agree, agree, neutral, disagree, and strongly disagree), yes-no-maybe format, open-ended, and multiple-choice format. Phase II involved data collection, while phase III involved data analysis. Descriptive statistics was done to derive the frequency and percentage for discrete variables and mean and SD for continuous variables. RESULTS Many SLPs feel underprepared in their technical knowledge and skills needed for telerehabilitation. Furthermore, a majority of the SLPs also did report patients to be relatively lesser motivated and satisfied with tele practices due to issues that are discussed in the paper. CONCLUSION This study is an initial attempt to touch upon the fabric of telerehabilitation services delivered by SLPs of India. Future studies are directed to study the technical, professional, and personal issues encountered during telerehabilitation services specifically pertaining to specific communication disabilities.

Abstract
PURPOSE COVID-19 caused a worldwide conversion from in-person therapy to telehealth; however, limited evidence to support the efficacy of remotely delivering standardized tests puts the future of widespread telehealth use at risk. The aim of this study is to investigate the reliability of scoring a speech sound assessment administered in real-world scenarios including two examples of telehealth technology. METHOD A total of thirty-nine 3- to 8-year-olds were administered the Goldman-Fristoe Test of Articulation-Third Edition. Licensed speech-language pathologists (SLPs) concurrently scored children's responses in person and in two telehealth conditions considered typical and enhanced. Mean standard scores and interrater reliability results were compared among the three conditions. Descriptive statistics were used to summarize the frequency of technology and behavior disruptions during administration and the results of an SLP telehealth perception survey. RESULTS All scoring conditions were found to be highly correlated, with mean differences revealing no systematic differences of one condition over- or underestimating another. Although response agreement was high (85%-87%), final sounds in words or sounds that are difficult to observe tended to attenuate reliability. Neither child nor technology disruptions affected SLPs' ability to score responses. Despite no significant differences between conditions on scoring reliability, SLP participants reported they continued to prefer in-person over a telehealth speech sound assessment. CONCLUSIONS This study supports the provision of a pediatric speech sound assessment using consumer-grade equipment, as in-person, typical telehealth, and enhanced telehealth scoring conditions produced similar results. However, SLP participants' skeptical attitudes toward remote delivery of standardized tests reveal an ongoing barrier to widespread telehealth use. Abstract
COVID-19 Lockdown was particularly challenging for most mothers of people with intellectual disabilities, including those with Rett syndrome (RTT), leading to feelings of abandonment from healthcare services of their children. Within those days, telerehabilitation has represented a valid alternative to support physical activity and treatment, supporting parents in structuring their children’s daily routine at home. This article aims to describe the well-being level of two groups of mothers of girls and women with RTT who were involved in a home-based remotely supervised motor rehabilitation program, respectively, before and during the COVID-19 Italian lockdown. Forty participants with classic RTT were recruited before the lockdown and randomly assigned to two groups that performed the intervention immediately before (Group 1) and during (Group 2) the lockdown, respectively. The intervention included an individualized daily physical activity program carried out for 12 weeks by participants’ parents and fortnightly supervised throughout Skype contacts to plan, monitor, and accommodate individual activities in the participant’s life at home. The short form Caregivers Well-Being Scale was collected for the mothers in each group 12 weeks before intervention (T1), at intervention initiation (T2), immediately after intervention termination (T3), as well as at 12 weeks after intervention termination (T4). Mothers of participants in the Group 1 showed a stable level of well-being across all four evaluations with a slight improvement during the lockdown, without significant change. Similarly, the well-being level of mothers in the Group 2 showed a statistically significant increase in their well-being between T2 and T3 (during the lockdown) and its reduction to the pre-intervention level between T3 and T4 (after the lockdown). The results suggest that the lockdown did not negatively affect the participants’ mothers’ well-being, leading to its improvement. Moreover, the proposed intervention could have supported the mothers in managing the new daily routine at home, positively affecting maternal well-being.

This mixed-methods study aimed to identify implementation factors that influence the provision of telepractice in SLP services. Method: A mixed-methods study consisting of a scoping review and semi-structured interviews (SSI) was carried out. Articles that described telepractice in SLP were included based on an operational definition of implementation and a set of inclusion criteria. Results: Data was extracted from 11 studies that were mapped to nine projects in telepractice in SLP. The broad focus areas identified included diagnostics and evaluation, therapeutics and comprehensive assessment, management and follow-up care services. Synchronous/ real-time telepractice methods were always used for the provision of diagnostic testing or when providing therapy services using video conferencing. The ‘professional-facilitator-patient’ model was used most commonly followed by the ‘professional-patient’ model. Barriers for long-term sustainability included inadequate initial capital investment, lack of reimbursement and payment options, low internet speed and bandwidth, resistance and hesitancy to use telepractice from the patient’s end, lack of organizational policies and uniform regulations. Sustainable source of funding, having a dedicated team of professionals and technicians with clear roles and responsibilities, and inclusion of systematic planning facilitated implementation. Conclusion: In general, telepractice in SLP was not explicitly guided by implementation science or framework. The use of implementation frameworks ensures systematic planning and feasibility assessment to inform the scale-up of implementation. Therefore, it would be worthwhile for program implementers to consider these aspects when exploring telepractice services.

Abstract
PURPOSE Telehealth services experienced exponential growth during the COVID-19 pandemic. This survey examined the resulting evolution in the technology, connectivity, implementation of services, and attitudes of pediatric speech-language pathology clinicians using synchronous videoconferencing. METHOD The Telehealth Services: Pediatric Provider Survey participants were 259 speech-language clinicians in a variety of employment settings from across the country and abroad. Analyses identified telehealth barriers eliminated and those that persisted during the pandemic, advantages, and disadvantages of remote delivery of evaluation and treatment services, the most common telehealth technology used by clinicians and their clients to access care, and clinicians' predictions about the optimization and future of telehealth. RESULTS Elimination of regulatory and insurance hurdles allowed children from varying socioeconomic backgrounds living in rural, suburban, and urban areas access to telehealth. Telehealth technology shifted from computers with external hardware and specialized software to commercially available equipment, such as handheld portable devices with built-in audiovisual components and publicly available videoconferencing platforms. However, connectivity of these devices continued to be problematic, and lack of technology prevented some children from accessing care. Judgments about the appropriateness and effectiveness of evaluations and treatments varied based on the age and communication disorder of a child. Although some participants expressed uncertainty about the effectiveness of telehealth compared with in-person care, telehealth was widely recognized as a viable delivery method. CONCLUSIONS Although clinicians reported many advantages of telehealth, some barriers identified reported prior to COVID-19 still persist. Clinicians anticipate that new developments have the potential to continue improving telehealth service delivery, bolstering the viability of telehealth long after the COVID-19 pandemic is gone. Abstract
Telepractice or teletherapy is defined as the means of service delivery via technology-based platforms that allow long-distance interventions across populations, age spans, and geographical locations. Specifically, telepractice capitalizes on communication technologies such as online modules, videoconferencing, and computerized software programs, in servicing populations with communication challenges. Notably, telepractice has emerged as a potentially effective, low-cost, and promising means of conducting and completing online assessment, diagnosis, and intervention sessions for individuals with autism spectrum disorders (ASD). Moreover, telepractice allows the inclusion of parents, caregivers, and educators as potential facilitators in supporting treatment delivery in populations with ASD. This thematic review article aims to highlight and acquaint practitioners and other stakeholders with relatively recent information regarding the advantages and disadvantages of the telepractice service delivery model in ASD. Furthermore, the emergence of the COVID-19 pandemic has impacted service delivery in the field of Health Sciences including speech and language pathology (SLP). Consequently, the need to avoid face-to-face therapy sessions, recommended to SLPs as to all health practitioners, resulted in the call for adaptation and adjustment of service telepractice. This paper attempts to answer this call by suggesting supplementing traditional diagnostic and therapy resources with training modules consisting of online materials and use of animated and specially designed programs in SLP intervention with individuals with ASD. Lastly, the paper includes a discussion of research findings in the field, a conclusion, and a take-home message.

Abstract
PURPOSE The main objective of this study was to gain insight into school-based speech-language pathologists' (SLPs') perspectives on and experiences with telepractice as a service delivery model at the onset of the COVID-19 global pandemic. A better understanding of the facilitating and challenging factors that belie telepractice-based services will guide the creation of training and resource development to further support remote speech-language services in schools. METHOD Four focus group sessions using a semistructured format were conducted with 22 school-based SLPs from 14 states in the United States. The focus groups provided an opportunity for SLPs to reflect on their telepractice experiences, including pros and cons, necessary knowledge and skills, factors impacting telepractice service delivery, and student and family participation. Inductive thematic analysis was used to describe the collective experiences and perspectives of the participants. RESULTS Three themes regarding telepractice emerged: technology use, locus of control for decision making, and student and family engagement. Participants reported experiencing a range of successes and challenges when attempting to meet students' needs and identified gaps in resources and school capacity for telepractice. CONCLUSIONS The findings revealed how school SLPs experienced telepractice service delivery during the remote learning portion of the 2019-2020 school year due to the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. The study increases our understanding of factors that facilitated and challenged the effective delivery of speech-language services via telepractice. To assist SLPs in future telepractice efforts, implications for professional development and further research are provided.

Abstract
Purpose Telepractice was extensively utilized during the COVID-19 pandemic. Little is known about issues experienced during the wide-scale rollout of a service delivery model that was novel to many. Social media research is a way to unobtrusively analyze public communication, including during a health crisis. We investigated the characteristics of tweets about telepractice through the lens of an established health technology implementation framework. Results can help guide efforts to support and sustain telehealth beyond the pandemic context. Method We retrieved a historical Twitter data set containing tweets about telepractice from the early months of the pandemic. Tweets were analyzed using a concurrent mixed-methods content analysis design informed by the nonadoption, abandonment, scale-up, spread, and sustainability (NASSS) framework. Results Approximately 2,200 Twitter posts were retrieved, and 820 original tweets were analyzed qualitatively. Volume of tweets about telepractice increased in the early months of the pandemic. The largest group of Twitter users tweeting about telepractice was a group of clinical professionals. Tweet content reflected many, but not all, domains of the NASSS framework. Conclusions Twitter posting about telepractice increased during the pandemic. Although many tweets represented topics expected in technology implementation, some represented phenomena were potentially unique to speech-language pathology. Certain technology implementation topics, notably sustainability, were not found in the data. Implications for future telepractice implementation and further research are discussed.

Abstract
Purpose The purpose of this survey research is to provide preliminary data regarding speech-language pathologists' (SLPs') perceptions of the role that social justice (SJ) plays in their work. As our professional organizations call us to advocate and communicate with regulatory agencies and legislative bodies to promote quality care for all individuals, this topic has become particularly important at this time. At present, there is a lack of data in peer-reviewed publications within the discipline of communication disorders on SJ and even less regarding the perceptions of SLPs on SJ. Method The survey was sent to American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA)-certified SLPs, identified by the ASHA ProFind database, across six U.S. geographic regions, including both urban and rural communities. Four themes were explored through the survey: (a) importance of SJ, (b) awareness of SJ, (c) current practices related to SJ, and (d) barriers to SJ implementation. Results The majority of respondents view SJ as important to the profession (91.2%) and value the work of creating equality among groups (96.0%). Many SLPs are actively involved in implementing SJ principles in their own practice by accepting Medicaid (40.7%), engaging in political outreach (55.0%), and providing transdisciplinary educational outreach (77.9%). Identified barriers to incorporating SJ include time (62.7%), resources (65.6%), and finances (70.0%). Conclusions Working for SJ is important to a majority of the respondents, and various efforts are implemented to create equal opportunities for service to clients. Barriers continue to exist that limit the degree to which SLPs can work toward SJ. A list of actions to be considered in order to promote SJ in the field is provided. Abstract
Purpose In March 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic caused a worldwide shift from in-person care to synchronous videoconferencing or telehealth. Many barriers to remote service delivery were eliminated, effectively creating a new generation of telepractitioners. This study chronicles changes in speech-language pathology clinicians' use and perceptions of telehealth with pediatric populations. Method The Telehealth Services: Pediatric Provider Survey was created in multiple steps and then distributed broadly through social media and professional community sites. Respondents were speech-language pathologists and speech-language pathology assistants in a variety of employment settings from across the country and abroad who were serving primarily pediatric clients (n = 269). Survey questions sought to capture changes in speech-language pathology clinicians' experiences with and perceptions of telehealth before, during, and predictions after the COVID-19 pandemic. Analyses identified factors that influenced the use of telehealth services before and after March 2020 (COVID-19). Results Survey results documented the dramatic increase in telehealth use from before March 2020 to October 2020. The reasons pediatric speech-language pathology clinicians used telehealth during the pandemic were mostly a result of employer mandates or lowering infection risk for both client and clinician; however, over time, pediatric speech-language pathology clinicians increased their telehealth proficiency and discovered the benefits of telehealth. Conclusion The adoption of telehealth and the rapid improvement in proficiency is a testament to the resiliency of providers and has long-term effects on the use of telehealth into the future. Abstract
OBJECTIVES Stuttering is a speech disorder characterized by the repetition of sounds, syllables, or words; prolongation of sounds; and interruptions in speech. Telepractice allows speech services to be delivered to patients regardless of their location. This review investigated factors influencing the use of telepractice in stuttering treatment. METHODS Articles related to the application of telepractice in stuttering were searched using the Scopus, Web of Science, PubMed, Cochrane, and ProQuest databases without consideration of any time limit. Initially, 79 articles were found and after application of the inclusion and exclusion criteria, 15 articles were selected for the review study. Data were analyzed by using the content analysis method and synthesized narratively. RESULTS Factors influencing the use of telepractice in stuttering treatment were categorized into individual, technical, clinical, and economic factors. Providing access to healthcare services, maintaining personal privacy, and allowing flexibility in arranging appointments were among individual factors. In terms of the technical factors, technical problems and Internet speed were addressed. Clinical factors were divided into positive and negative outcomes, and economic factors were mainly related to time and cost savings. CONCLUSIONS Although patients may benefit from using telepractice, the widespread adoption of this technology can be hindered by some technical and non-technical factors. Because telepractice can be employed as a complementary method to treat stuttering, more attention should be paid to the required infrastructure and factors that may negatively impact the use of this technology.

Abstract
Purpose
We conducted a systematic review of the literature regarding adult telepractice services (screening, assessment, and treatment) from approximately 2014 to 2019.
Method
Thirty-one relevant studies were identified from a literature search, assessed for quality, and reported.
Results
Included studies illustrated feasibility, efficacy, diagnostic accuracy, and noninferiority of various speech-language pathology services across adult populations, including chronic aphasia, Parkinson's disease, dysphagia, and primary progressive aphasia. Technical aspects of the equipment and software used to deliver services were discussed. Some general themes were noted as areas for future research.
Conclusion
Overall, results of the review continue to support the use of telepractice as an appropriate service delivery model in speech-language pathology for adults. Strong research designs, including experimental control, across multiple well-described settings are still needed to definitively determine effectiveness of telepractice services.

Abstract
Purpose
This article addresses the ethical conduct of client-centered telepractice, with the following purposes: to define ethical communication, to describe state licensure requirements for practicing clinicians, and to provide examples of lawful and unlawful telepractice.
Conclusions
The hypothetical scenarios presented in this article employed examples from telespeech; however, the guiding ethical principles are similarly relevant to tele-audiology service delivery. The driving force for telepractice is to improve the quality of life of clients with communication disorders.

Purpose Telepractice offers prevention, assessment, treatment, and consultation at a distance. This article provides an overview of telepractice with specific considerations and examples related to voice across licensure requirements, state and federal laws, reimbursement, documentation, and telepractice methods. Conclusion As technology continues to advance and as client demand for telepractice services increases, practitioners need to create successful telepractice programs.

Abstract
Telepractice is increasingly applied to assessment and intervention for persons with autism spectrum disorders (ASD), and the use of telepractice for delivering augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) services is expanding. To date, no studies have focused on the assessment of communication in children with ASD who are minimally verbal. This case exploration represents a first attempt to apply the clinical assessment approach (also known as Visual Immersion System) developed in the Autism Language Program in the Center for Communication Enhancement (CCE) at Boston Children's Hospital (BCH) through a telepractice service delivery model. In this paper we detail an on-site evaluation, and then describe the application of the various evaluation components to telepractice delivery. Our findings provide preliminary evidence that communication assessment information can be successfully obtained for this population via telepractice. The results demonstrated that the telepractice evaluation took greater time to complete than the on-site evaluation, likely due to both technical and cultural factors. Further study is warranted particularly in the delivery of family instruction materials prior to the evaluation and to quality assurance measures.
