Abstract
New Cd(II), Zn(II), and Cu(II) chelates with cetirizine.2HCl (CETZ.2HCl) in incidence of 1,10 phenanthroline monohydrate (Phen.H2O) were synthesized in search of new biologically active compounds. The ligands and their chelates were described by 1H NMR, FT-IR, elemental analysis, UV-vis spectrophotometry, thermal analyses, molar conductance, x-ray diffraction (XRD), and magnetic-susceptibility measurements. FT-IR demonstrated that CETZ.2HCl is bonded with metal ions, as a monodentate via carboxylate oxygen atom and Phen.H2O chelated via two nitrogen atoms. The molar conductivity data showed that the complexes were nonelectrolytes, whereas XRD data supported that the compounds were crystalline. Density functional theory (DFT) was utilized to gain insight into the compounds' optimized design. The effects of CETZ.2HCl and the complexes on the activity of lipoprotein-(L)-lipase in mice were investigated. Unlike Cd(II) complex, all the other compounds exhibited significant increase in lipase activity, with reduction in triglycerides. Cu(II) and Zn(II) complexes showed robust hypolipidemic efficacy evidenced by lower levels of total cholesterol and low-density lipoprotein (LDL), concomitant with higher levels of high-density lipoprotein (HDL). Furthermore, Zn(II) complex was a safe alternative as it has a lower liver toxicity. Molecular docking demonstrated that Cu(II) and Zn(II) chelates exhibited greater affinities to lipase than the parent ligand. Finally, Cu(II) complex showed the highest antibacterial activity.

Abstract
The condensation of (1H-benzimidazole-2-yl) methanamine, with 2-hydroxy naphthaldehyde lead to Schiff base ligand (H2L) (1). This was later reacted with metal salts (ZnCl2, CrCl3·6H2O, and MnCl2·4H2O) to afford the corresponding metal complexes. Biological activity findings indicate that the metal complexes have promising activity against Escherichia coli and Bacillus subtilis and modest activity against Aspergillus niger. The in vitro anticancer activities of Zn (II), Cr (III), and Mn (II) complexes were investigated and the best results were observed with Mn (II) complex as the most potent cytotoxic agent toward human cell lines colorectal adenocarcinoma HCT 116, hepatocellular carcinoma HepG2 and breast adenocarcinoma MCF-7 with 0.7, 1.1 and 6.7 μg of inhibitory concentration IC50 values respectively. Consequently, the Mn (II) complex and ligand were docked inside the energetic site of ERK2 and exhibited favorable energy for binding. The investigation of biological tests towards mosquito larvae indicates that Cr (III) and Mn (II) complexes manifest strong toxicity against Aedes aegypti larvae with 3.458 and 4.764 ppm values of lethal concentration LC50, respectively.

Abstract
In this work, we investigated for the first time morin in MeOH at different pH values by picosecond time-resolved fluorescence. We identified the two species responsible for the fluorescence at low and high pH. The solvated morin-solvent hydrogen-bonded complex has been experimentally observed for the first time. We give also the typical fluorescence spectra as well as the fluorescence lifetimes of the probable emitting species. In this work we put forward new insights concerning the contribution of free morin to the fluorescence. We hope that these new data improve the accuracy of the interpretation of the cation:morin complexes titration using fluorescence signal.

Abstract
Ten novel palladium(II) complexes with dipyrido[3,2-d:2',3'-f]quinoxaline (Dpq)/dipyrido[3,2-a:2',3'-c](6,7,8,9-tetrahydro)phenazine (Dpqc) and 4-toluensulfonyl-L-amino acid dianion, [Pd(Dpq)(TsvalNO)]·H2O (1a), [Pd(Dpq)(TsileNO)]·H2O (1b), [Pd(Dpq)(TsserNO)] (1c), [Pd(Dpq)(TsthrNO)]·1.5H2O (1d), [Pd(Dpq)(TsleuNO)]·0.5H2O (1e), [Pd(Dpq)(TspheNO)] (1f), [Pd(Dpqc)(TsvalNO)] (2a), [Pd(Dpqc)(TsileNO)] (2b), [Pd(Dpqc)(TsserNO)]·H2O (2c) and [Pd(Dpqc)(TsthrNO)]·0.5H2O (2d) have been synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, IR, UV, (1)H NMR and mass spectrometry techniques. Crystal structure of the complex 1f has been determined by X-ray diffraction. The cytotoxicity was tested by MTT assay. The results indicated that the complexes 1a and 2a showed better cytotoxicity than cisplatin against MCF-7. The complex 1e had higher cytotoxicity than cisplatin against K562. Both the N donating ligands and the amino acid have important effects on the cytotoxicity.

Abstract
Metal complexes of cetirizine·2HCl (CTZ=2-[2-[4-[(4-chlorophenyl)phenyl methyl]piperazine-1-yl]-ethoxy]acetic acid, dihydrochloride have been prepared and characterized by elemental analyses, IR, solid reflectance, magnetic moment, molar conductance, and UV-Vis spectra. The analytical data of the complexes show the formation of 1:2 [M:L] ratio, where M represents Ni(II), Co(II) and Cu(II) ions, while L represents the deprotonated CTZ ligand. IR spectra show that CTZ is coordinated to the metal ions in a monodentate manner through carboxylate-O atom. Protonation equilibria of CTZ and its metal complexation by some divalent metal ions were determined in aqueous solution at constant ionic strength (0.1 M NaCl) using an automatic potentiometric technique. Thermodynamic parameters for the protonation equilibria of CTZ were calculated and discussed. The stability order of M(II)-CTZ complexes were found to obey Mn(2+)<Co(2+)<Ni(2+)<Cu(2+), in accordance with the Irving-Williams order. The concentration distribution of the complexes in solution is evaluated as a function of pH. The CTZ ligand and its metal complexes were screened for their biological activity against bacterial species (Bacillus subtillis RCMB 010067, Staphylococcus aureus RCMB 010028, Pseudomonas aeuroginosa RCMB 010043, and Escherichia coli RCMB 010052) and fungi as (Aspergillus flavus RCMB 02568, Pencicillium italicum RCMB 03924, Candida albicans RCMB 05031 and Geotricum candidum RCMB 05097). The activity data show that the metal complexes have antibacterial and antifungal activity more than the parent CTZ ligand against one or more bacterial or fungi species. MIC was evaluated for the isolated complexes.

SPECTROCHIMICA ACTA. PART A, MOLECULAR AND BIOMOLECULAR SPECTROSCOPY 2013; 112:364-376. Abstract
The ternary complexes of Cu(II), Zn(II), Ni(II) and Cd(II) with 2-aminomethylbenzimidazole (AMBI) and glycine as a representative example of amino acids have been isolated and characterized by elemental analyses, IR, ESR, UV-vis, magnetic moment, molar conductance and (1)H NMR spectra. AMBI behaves as neutral bidentate ligands with coordination through imidazole and amino group nitrogens while the glycine amino acid behaves as a monodenate anion with coordination involving the amino group and carboxylate oxygen after deprotonation. The magnetic and spectral data indicates a square planar geometry for both Cu(2+) and Ni(2+) complexes and a tetrahedral geometry for both Zn(2+) and Cd(2+) complexes. The isolated chelates have been screened for their antifungal and antibacterial activities using the disc diffusion method. A cytotoxicity of the compounds against colon (HCT116) and larynx (HEP2) cancer cells have been studied. The stability constants of ternary M-AMBI-Gly complexes were determined potentiometrically in aqueous solution at I=0.1 mol dm(-3) NaCl.

Abstract
In the present investigation, furo[2,3-d]thiazol-5(2H)-one 5 was obtained from reaction of thiosemicarbazone derivative 2 with diethyl acetylene dicarboxylate. A series of newly synthesized 2-(hydrazinyl)thiazol-4(5H)-one 6, 7 &8 and 2-(4-(substituted)-thiazol-2-yl)hydrazono derivatives 9a, b &10 were synthesized from treatment of thiosemicarbazone derivative 2 with appropriate α-halogenated compounds. Also, a one pot synthesis of thiazole derivatives 13 &15 was achieved from three components reaction of hydrazone derivative 11 with phenyl isothiocyanate and α-halogenated compounds catalyzed by DMF/KOH. 4-(4-Morpholino phenyl) thiazol-2-amino 17 was obtained via the reaction of acetophenone derivative 1 with thiourea in presence of iodine. The reactivity of 2-aminothiazole 17 toward some electrophilic reagents was investigated. The structure of the newly compounds was confirmed on the basis of elemental analysis and spectral data. The antibacterial activity towards two Gram negative (Proteus mirabilis &Serratia marcesens) and two Gram positive (Staphylococcus aureus &Bacillus cereus) bacteria was investigated. The anti-inflammatory activity was also investigated and the inhibition of the carrageenin-induced oedema by these compounds was established.
