Abstract
BACKGROUND There is paucity of data regarding outcomes of children, adolescents and young adults (CAYA) patients with non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) undergoing autologous stem cell transplantation (ASCT). METHODS Patients aged 0-39 years undergoing first ASCT for NHL at MD Anderson Cancer Center between 2000 and 2020 were analyzed. RESULTS Two hundred twenty-one patients were included in the analysis, 129 (58%) were male and the median age was 32 (range 6-39) years. The most common histological subtypes were diffuse large B cell lymphoma (DLBCL) (44%), T-NHL (19%) and primary mediastinal B-Cell lymphoma (PMBCL) (19%). Younger patients (age ≤ 25) had lower incidence of DLBCL and higher incidence of PMBCL and T-NHL compared to older patients (age > 25) (P = 0.02). None of the younger patients had double hit (DH)/double expressor (DE) DLBCL, compared to 14 patients in the older age group (18%, P = 0.07). Considering the three main aggressive NHL subtypes (DLBCL, PMBCL and T-NHL), younger patients had numerically better 15-year post-transplant progression free survival (PFS) (67% vs. 54%) and overall survival (OS) (71% vs. 62%) compared to older patients, yet these differences did not reach statistical significance (P = 0.19 and P = 0.24, respectively). In multivariate analysis, not achieving a CR prior to ASCT was independently predictive of worse PFS [partial remission (PR) (HR, 3.9); stable disease (SD) (HR, 18.0), P = 0.03] and of worse OS [PR (HR, 4.2), SD (HR, 6.5) and progressive disease (HR, 4.7), P < 0.0001]. DH/DE status was an independent adverse predictor of PFS in multivariate analysis (HR 5.8, p = 0.03). Ten patients (4.5%) (all aged > 25 years) developed second primary malignancies (SPM), at a median of 34.4 (range, 1.0-196.6) months after ASCT, and SPM was the cause of death in five (50%) of them. CONCLUSIONS CAYA NHL patients aged ≤ 25 years who received ASCT presented a distinct NHL histology as compared to older CAYA patients, and none in this younger age group had DH/DE DLBCL. We observed a trend towards improved PFS and OS in younger patients. Disease status at ASCT was predictive of both PFS and OS. DH/DE status was an adverse predictor of PFS.

Abstract
PURPOSE We undertook a scoping review of the literature to synthesize what is known about lymphoma survivorship and develop a comprehensive set of lymphoma-specific survivorship recommendations. METHODS We searched the peer-reviewed literature from January 1995 to April 2022, focused on topics relevant to survivorship care in patients ≥ 18 years of age, treated curatively for non-Hodgkin's and Hodgkin's lymphoma, and in remission for at least 2 years. RESULTS We retained 92 articles; themes included late effects of treatment (53.3%, 49/92), particularly fatigue and sleep disturbances, and fertility, as well as psychosocial considerations of survivors (27.2%; 25/92), screening for secondary malignancies (22.8%; 21/92), outcomes of interventions to improve survivorship care (10.9%; 10/92), and best practices and elements for survivorship plans (8.7%; 8/92). While there were published guidelines for screening for recurrence and secondary malignancies, despite the considerable number of articles on the psychosocial aspects of survivorship care, there remains limited guidance on screening frequency and management strategies for anxiety and depression, sleep disturbances, and treatment-related fatigue within the lymphoma population. CONCLUSION We have developed a comprehensive set of lymphoma-survivorship recommendations; however, work is needed to adapt them to local healthcare contexts. IMPLICATIONS FOR SURVIVORS While there is a focus in the literature on the long-term psychosocial impacts of cancer and its treatment on lymphoma survivors, there remains no concrete recommendations on effective screening and management of detriments to quality of life such as anxiety, depression, fatigue, and distress, and availability of local resources vary widely.

Abstract
PURPOSE Young adult cancer survivors (YACS) are at risk for secondary skin cancers but relevant interventions have not been validated in this population. To address this, we designed and tested SunSmart, a set of two educational videos designed to promote sun protection (SP). One provides SP education (Information) and the second combines SP education with content on negative appearance consequences of sun exposure (Information + Appearance). METHODS One hundred ninety-three YACS (aged 18-35) were randomized to one of three groups: (1) Information, (2) Information + Appearance, or (3) control (sleep hygiene video). Participants completed measures on SP behaviors at baseline and follow-up. One-way ANCOVAs examined the intervention effect on follow-up SP behaviors controlling for baseline behaviors. RESULTS The intervention did not significantly affect SP behaviors. However, secondary analyses limited to participants with the lowest baseline SP adherence found that the Information + Appearance group had significantly lower intentional sun exposure than the control group (p = 0.02) at follow-up. CONCLUSIONS Contrary to hypotheses, the SunSmart intervention did not significantly improve sun protection in YACS, even when it presented information on negative appearance consequences of sun exposure. However, secondary analyses suggest SunSmart may be more effective in YACS with the lowest SP adherence. Future research is required to improve intervention efficacy with YACS (e.g., increased focus on secondary cancer risks). IMPLICATIONS FOR CANCER SURVIVORS Despite their increased risk of secondary skin cancer, YACS in the current study reported significant sun exposure and inadequate SP. The need for development and validation of effective interventions to address these concerns remains.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Second primary malignancies (SPMs) are known complications after chemotherapy, but the risk is not well characterised for patients with lymphoma treated with high-dose chemotherapy and autologous haematopoietic stem-cell transplantation (HSCT). We aimed to investigate the rate of SPMs in this population relative to matched control individuals from the general population. METHODS In this retrospective, population-based cohort study, patients aged 18 years or older with an aggressive lymphoma who received high-dose chemotherapy and autologous HSCT in Denmark between Jan 1, 2001, and Dec 31, 2017, were included from the Danish Lymphoma Registry and matched (1:5) to control individuals from the general population on birth year and sex via the Danish Civil Registration System. Patients were eligible if they had a registered date of autologous HSCT and patients with primary CNS lymphoma were excluded. Exclusion criteria for both patients and matched control individuals were HIV infection, organ transplantation, or other malignancies before inclusion. The key endpoint was the incidence of SPMs assessed in all study participants. The effect of treatment on SPMs was also investigated in patients who were followed up from first lymphoma diagnosis, with high-dose chemotherapy and autologous HSCT as a time-dependent exposure. FINDINGS Of 910 patients with lymphoma assessed, 803 were included (537 [67%] were male and 266 [33%] were female); 4015 matched control individuals were included (2685 [67%] were male and 1330 [33%] were female). Ethnicity data were not available. Median follow-up was 7·76 years (IQR 4·77-11·73). The SPM rate was higher among patients receiving high-dose chemotherapy and autologous HSCT than matched control individuals (adjusted hazard ratio [HR] 2·35, 95% CI 1·93-2·87, p<0·0001). Patients receiving high-dose chemotherapy and autologous HSCT had a higher rate of non-melanoma skin cancer (2·94, 2·10-4·11, p<0·0001) and of myelodysplastic syndrome or acute myeloid leukaemia (AML; 41·13, 15·77-107·30, p<0·0001) than matched control individuals, but there was no significant difference in the rate of solid tumours (1·21, 0·89-1·64, p=0·24). The cumulative risk of SPMs at 10 years was 20% (95% CI 17-23) in patients compared with 14% (13-15) in matched control individuals. High-dose chemotherapy and autologous HSCT was associated with an increased risk of SPMs when analysed as a time-dependent exposure from first lymphoma diagnosis (adjusted HR 1·58, 95% CI 1·14-2·17, p=0·0054). INTERPRETATION High-dose chemotherapy and autologous HSCT was associated with an increased risk of non-melanoma skin cancer and myelodysplastic syndrome or AML but not with increased risk of solid tumours in patients treated for lymphoma. These findings are relevant for future individualised risk-benefit assessments when choosing between high-dose chemotherapy and autologous HSCT and chimeric antigen receptor T-cell therapy in this setting. Abstract
To investigate the efficacy and safety of the FEAC (fotemustine, etoposide, cytarabine, and cyclophosphamide) conditioning regimen for the treatment of lymphoma, we retrospectively analyzed the records of 76 Hodgkin lymphoma (HL) and non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) patients who underwent autologous stem cell transplantation (ASCT) after the FEAC conditioning regimen. Their survival, as well as the clinical efficacy, hematopoietic engraftment time, and toxicity, were analyzed. One patient died of severe pulmonary infection, and the transplant-related mortality (TRM) was 1.3% (1/76). Hematopoietic engraftment was achieved successfully in the remaining 75 patients. The median times of neutrophil and platelet engraftment were 11 d (6-21 d) and 13 d (8-24 d), respectively. The 2-year progression-free survival (PFS) rate was 69.1%, and the 2-year overall survival (OS) rate was 84.2%. FEAC conditioning regimen has acceptable toxicity, and the prognosis of patients is good, making it a feasible alternative to the BEAM regimen for ASCT.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Treatments for relapsed/refractory (r/r) B-cell non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (NHL) may be associated with an increased risk of second primary malignancies (SPMs). Currently available SPM incidence benchmarks are unreliable due to small sample sizes. METHODS The Cancer Analysis System (CAS), a population-level cancer database in England, was used to identify patients with incident B-cell NHL diagnosed during 2013-2018 with evidence of r/r disease. Incidence rates (IRs) of SPMs after r/r disease diagnosis were calculated per 1000 person-years (PYs) and stratified by age, sex, and SPM type. RESULTS We identified 9444 patients with r/r B-cell NHL disease. Of those who were eligible for SPM analysis, nearly 6.0% (470/7807) developed at least one SPM after r/r disease diagnosis (IR: 44.7; 95% confidence interval [CI]: 40.9-48.9). Of note, 205 (2.6%) had a non-melanoma skin cancer (NMSC) SPM. IR of SPMs was the highest for patients with r/r chronic lymphocytic leukemia/small lymphocytic leukemia (80.0) and lowest for diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) (30.9). Patients with DLBCL had the shortest overall survival after r/r disease diagnosis. CONCLUSIONS This real-world data study suggests that the IR of SPM among patients with r/r B-cell NHL is 44.7 per 1000 PY and that most SPMs diagnosed after r/r disease diagnosis are NMSCs, establishing a basis for the comparison of safety outcomes for new treatments being developed for r/r B-cell NHL.

Abstract
There is paucity of data regarding outcomes of children, adolescents and young adults (CAYA) patients with non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) undergoing autologous hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (ASCT). We analyzed 222 patients aged 0-39 years undergoing first ASCT for NHL between 2000 and 2020. The most common histological subtypes were DLBCL (44%), T-NHL (19%) and PMBCL (19%). Younger patients (age ≤ 25) had lower incidence of DLBCL and higher incidence of PMBCL and T-NHL compared to older patients (> 25 years) (P = 0.02). None of the younger patients had DH)/DE DLBCL, as compared to 14 patients in the older group (18%, P = 0.07). Younger patients had numerically better 15-year post-transplant PFS (67% vs. 54%) and OS (71% vs. 62%) compared to older patients, without statistically significant differences (P = 0.19 and P = 0.24, respectively). In MVA, not achieving a CR prior to ASCT was independently predictive of worse PFS (P < 0.0001). DH/DE status was an independent adverse predictor of PFS in MVA (HR 5.8, p = 0.03). 10 patients(4.5%) (all aged > 25 years) developed SPM Patients aged ≤ 25 years presented a distinct NHL histology as compared to older CAYA patients. Disease status at ASCT was predictive of both PFS and OS. DH/DE status was an adverse predictor of PFS.

Abstract
Autologous stem cell transplantation (ASCT) remains a key therapeutic strategy for treating patients with relapsed or refractory non-Hodgkin and Hodgkin lymphoma. Clonal hematopoiesis (CH) has been proposed as a major contributor not only to the development of therapy-related myeloid neoplasms but also to inferior overall survival (OS) in patients who had undergone ASCT. Herein, we aimed to investigate the prognostic implications of CH after ASCT in a cohort of 420 lymphoma patients using ultra-deep, highly sensitive error-correction sequencing. CH was identified in the stem cell product samples of 181 patients (43.1%) and was most common in those with T-cell lymphoma (72.2%). The presence of CH was associated with a longer time to neutrophil and platelet recovery. Moreover, patients with evidence of CH had inferior 5-year OS from the time of first relapse (39.4% vs. 45.8%, p = .043) and from the time of ASCT (51.8% vs. 59.3%, p = .018). The adverse prognostic impact of CH was not due to therapy-related myeloid neoplasms, the incidence of which was low in our cohort (10-year cumulative incidence of 3.3% vs. 3.0% in those with and without CH, p = .445). In terms of specific-gene mutations, adverse OS was mostly associated with PPM1D mutations (hazard ratio (HR) 1.74, 95% confidence interval (CI) 1.13-2.67, p = .011). In summary, we found that CH is associated with an increased risk of non-lymphoma-related death after ASCT, which suggests that lymphoma survivors with CH may need intensified surveillance strategies to prevent and treat late complications.

Abstract
PURPOSE Compliance with US Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF) age-appropriate cancer screening and immunization guidelines in lymphoma survivors is not known. We sought to measure compliance in non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) survivors and identify any differences based on patient, disease, and treatment characteristics. METHODS Eligible NHL survivors were identified from the Molecular Epidemiology Resource (MER) prospective cohort study. Survivors self-reported colorectal, breast, and prostate cancer screening and influenza immunization in a questionnaire 3 years post-diagnosis (FU3). The USPSTF guidelines were used to define compliance. Chi-square tests were used to compare characteristics of compliant versus non-compliant survivors. RESULTS A total of 1833 MER participants from 2005 to 2012 completed a FU3. Rates of breast and prostate cancer screening were 96% and 72%, respectively. No differences in compliance based on patient or disease characteristics or treatment were observed. Ninety-two percent of survivors were compliant with colorectal cancer screening. Older age, indolent lymphoma histology, and 2008-2012 year of diagnosis were associated with higher compliance. Eighty-two percent of survivors were compliant with influenza vaccination and older age was associated with higher compliance. CONCLUSION NHL survivors have high compliance with USPSTF recommendations for cancer screening and immunization. Survivors who are younger or have aggressive lymphomas are less likely to meet the colorectal cancer screening guidelines. Older survivors are more likely to receive influenza vaccination. IMPLICATIONS FOR CANCER SURVIVORS Measures to further improve preventive care for NHL survivors, especially those younger in age, are necessary.

Abstract
Female recipients of hematopoietic cell transplant (HCT) may develop lower genital tract (LGT) dysplasia or new malignancies. A comprehensive systematic review to delineate the occurrence and risk factors for post-HCT LGT precancer and cancer in women was conducted via electronic search of the Cochrane Library, PubMed, Embase, Wiley Online Library, from 1990 to 2018. All studies on the risk, presentation, or incidence of LGT (cervix, vulva, vagina) precancer or cancer post-HCT were included. Reviews, case reports, meta-analysis, book chapters, and studies without the relevant clinical outcomes were excluded. Post-HCT incidence and risk factors for developing LGT precancer or cancer were assessed and determined. Twenty-two out of the original 344 studies met the selection criteria. The risk of LGT cancers in allo-HCT recipients was found to be significantly higher than in the general population, with the standardized incidence ratios of 1.5–48 for cervical cancer and from 19 to 287 for dysplasia. Our review portrays an increased risk of premalignant and malignant neoplasms of female LGT, which have an incompletely described epidemiology and outcomes. Similar to other immunocompromised states, HCT recipients require specific cervical screening guidelines and can greatly benefit from HPV vaccinations. However, there is a lack of prospective data regarding optimum cervical screening in HCT recipients and limited programs offer HPV vaccinations worldwide.

Abstract
OPINION STATEMENT Second malignancies are a rare but well-defined late complication after autologous and allogeneic hematopoietic stem-cell transplantation (SCT). Solid malignancies occur in up to 15% of patients 15 years after SCT with myeloablative conditioning, with no plateau in the incidence rates. They are responsible for 5-10% of late deaths after SCT. The incidence is increased with advanced age at SCT. The major risk factors are the use of total body irradiation, which is associated with adenocarcinomas and with chronic graft-versus-host disease which is associated with squamous cell cancers. There is less data on the incidence of second malignancies after reduced-intensity conditioning, but it may not be lower. The types of solid tumors reported in excess include melanoma and other skin cancers; cancers of the oral cavity and head and neck, brain, liver, uterine cervix, thyroid, breast, lung; and possibly gastrointestinal cancers. Therapy-related myeloid neoplasms (t-MN) are more common after autologous SCT and may be related mostly to pre-transplant therapies. Post-transplant lymphoproliferative disease is donor-cell-derived lymphoma that is more common after allogeneic SCT with T-cell depletion or intensive immune-suppression state. Second malignancies are most often treated similarly to the standard therapy for similar malignancies. Lifelong cancer screening and prevention interventions are required for all transplantation survivors.

Abstract
This national population-based study aimed to investigate conditional survival and standardized mortality ratios (SMR) after high-dose therapy with autologous stem-cell transplantation (HDT-ASCT) for non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL), and to analyse cause of death, relapses and second malignancies. All patients ≥18 years treated with HDT-ASCT for NHL in Norway between 1987 and 2008 were included (n = 578). Information from the Cause of Death Registry and Cancer Registry of Norway were linked with clinical data. The 5-, 10- and 20-year overall survival was 61% (95% confidence interval [CI] 56-64%), 52% (95%CI 48-56%) and 45% (95%CI 40-50%), respectively. The 5-year survival conditional on having survived 2, 5 and 10 years after HDT-ASCT was 81%, 86% and 93%. SMRs were 12·3 (95%CI 11·0-13·9), 4·9 (95%CI 4·1-5·9), 2·4 (95%CI 1·8-3·2) and 1·0 (95%CI 0·6-1·8) for the entire cohort and for patients having survived 2, 5 and 10 years after HDT-ASCT respectively. Of the 281 deaths observed, 77% were relapse-related. Treatment-related mortality was 3·6%. The 10-year cumulative incidence of second malignancies was 7·9% and standardized incidence ratio was 2·0 (95%CI 1·5-2·6). NHL patients treated with HDT-ASCT were at increased risk of second cancer and premature death. The mortality was still elevated at 5 years, but after 10 years mortality equalled that of the general population.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Primary central nervous system lymphoma (PCNSL) is a rare extranodal lymphoma with distinctive biological behaviors. The evolving treatment of PCNSL has greatly improved the outcome for patients with this disease and has stimulated interest in second malignancies (SMs) in patients diagnosed with PCNSL. METHODS The records of 129 cases of PCNSL at Mayo Clinic, diagnosed between January 1, 1988, and November 26, 2012, were reviewed. Data on clinical characteristics, laboratory parameters, treatments, outcomes, and SMs were collected. The mean follow-up time was 44.8 months (range, 0.5-240 months; median, 28.0 months). RESULTS Altogether, 28 cases with 30 (23.26%) SMs were identified. Twenty (15.50%) patients had prior or synchronous SM. Ten (7.76%) patients developed a subsequent primary cancer after PCNSL. The most common sites of prior or synchronous SMs were prostate (4/20), skin (4/20), and gastrointestinal (3/20). The most common site of the subsequent SM was skin (4/10). Two cases were identified with both prior SM and subsequent SM. CONCLUSIONS Second malignancies in cases with PCNSL were not uncommon and occurred in nearly a quarter of our cohort. Nonmelanoma skin cancers were frequently seen. Therefore, screening for SMs should also be considered in long-term follow-up of patients with PCNSL. In addition, the high incidence of subsequent cancer, synchronous cancer, and frequently seen nonmelanoma skin cancers may all indicate an immunosuppressed state in patients with PCNSL.

Abstract
Population-based evidence on second cancer risk following autologous haematopoietic SCT (HCT) is lacking. We quantified second cancer risk for a national, population-based cohort of adult Australians receiving autologous HCT for cancer and notified to the Australasian Bone Marrow Transplant Recipient Registry 1992-2007 (n=7765). Cancer diagnoses and deaths were ascertained by linkage with the Australian Cancer Database and National Death Index. Standardized incidence ratios (SIRs) were calculated and Cox regression models were used to estimate within-cohort risk factors treating death as a competing risk. During a median 2.5 years follow-up, second cancer risk was modestly increased compared with the general population (SIR 1.4, 95% confidence interval 1.2-1.6); significantly elevated risk was also observed for AML/myelodysplastic syndrome (SIR=20.6), melanoma (SIR=2.6) and non-Hodgkin lymphoma (SIR=3.3). Recipients at elevated risk of any second cancer included males, and those transplanted at a younger age, in an earlier HCT era, or for lymphoma or testicular cancer. Male sex, older age (>45 years) and history of relapse after HCT predicted melanoma risk. Transplantation for Hodgkin lymphoma and older age were associated with lung cancer risk. Second malignancies are an important late effect and these results inform and emphasize the need for cancer surveillance in autologous HCT survivors.

Abstract
Lymphoma patients treated with autologous transplantation (ASCT) live an increasingly long life with the recent advancement in therapeutic modalities. This has resulted in an increase in the incidence of therapy-related myeloid neoplasms (t-MN), which is one of the leading causes of non-relapse mortality. Several observational studies have linked the development of t-MN after ASCT with the intensity and frequency of chemotherapy, particularly alkylating agents, use of total body irradiation (TBI), and peripheral blood progenitor cells. In addition, role of genetic factors is increasingly being identified. It is postulated that the use of chemotherapy prior to ASCT results in DNA damage of progenitor cells, mitochondrial dysfunction, and altered gene expression related to DNA repair, metabolism as well as hematopoietic regulation. Cytogenetic studies have shown the presence of abnormalities in the peripheral blood progenitor cells prior to ASCT. It is, therefore, likely that the reinfusion of peripheral blood progenitor cells, proliferative stress on infused progenitor cells during hematopoietic regeneration and associated telomere shortening ultimately result in clonal hematopoiesis and blastic transformation. Cytopenias, myelodysplasia, or cytogenetic abnormalities are common and can be transient after ASCT; therefore, only when present together, they do confirm the diagnosis of t-MN. Attempts to reduce the occurrence of t-MN should be directed toward minimizing the exposure to the identified risk factors. Although the median survival is few months to less than a year, studies have shown the promising role of allogeneic transplantation in select young t-MN patients without high-risk cytogenetics. In this review we will explain the recent findings in the field of t-MN in lymphoma patients that have implications for identifying the molecular and genetic mechanisms of leukemogenesis and discuss potential strategies to reduce the risk of t-MN in this patient population.

Abstract
The course of fatigue and quality of life in survivors of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma is unknown. The aims of this study were, therefore, to assess fatigue and quality of life in patients with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma following primary treatment, compare fatigue and quality of life in these patients with those of an age- and sex matched normative population to assess the severity of concerns and identify associations with fatigue of survivors who remained fatigued. The population-based Eindhoven Cancer Registry was used to select all patients diagnosed with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma from 1999-2009. The European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer Quality of Life Questionnaire and the Fatigue Assessment Scale were completed once by 824 survivors of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (80% response rate); 434 survivors completed these questionnaires again 1 year later. Survivors of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma reported more clinically relevant fatigue up till 10 years post-diagnosis compared to a normative population (P<0.001). Mean fatigue scores remained fairly stable over time (T1: x=28, SD=26; T2: x=30, SD=27, P=0.14): 22-28% of survivors reported deterioration, 19-23% reported improvement and 44-54% reported constant fatigue. Survivors who reported constant fatigue were more often diagnosed with stage IV disease and had more comorbid diseases. They were additionally more often female and divorced. Having comorbidities and being without a partner were also associated with constant fatigue in the normative population. In conclusion, six out of every ten responding non-Hodgkin's lymphoma survivors reported a high level of fatigue up till 10 years after diagnosis. Mean fatigue scores remained stable over time and survivors reporting constant fatigue more often had stage IV disease at diagnosis and comorbidities.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Although cancer survivors are at risk for future skin cancers, many do not practice recommended sun protection. Studies have demonstrated poor adherence to specific behaviors (e.g., sunscreen, artificial tanning) during sunbathing, but less is known about survivors' typical amount of sun exposure during activities other than sunbathing. METHODS We conducted a mailed survey of 153 adults (median age = 26.1) diagnosed with a non-skin cancer before age 30. Information on recent sunbathing and incidental sun exposures, protective behaviors, and perceived vulnerability was collected. Analyses focused on characterizing survivors with the lowest levels of recommended sun protection. RESULTS Twenty-nine percent of participants exhibited low sun protection adherence during sunbathing and 31% during incidental exposure. Younger age was associated with low adherence, but this difference was significant only for sunbathing (OR=0.4; 95% CI, 0.2-0.9). Women were more likely than men to have low adherence during sunbathing (34.0% vs. 20.3%; OR = 2.44; 95% CI, 1.1-5.5). Survivors treated with radiation did not differ on exposures, adherence, or perceived vulnerability to the sun, despite feeling more susceptible to skin cancers (p = 0.03). CONCLUSIONS Despite known skin cancer risks, many young cancer survivors receive significant sun exposure. Assessment of sunbathing alone fails to capture sun exposure behaviors, particularly in men. Survivors treated with radiation may recognize their increased risk of skin cancer, but not the role of sun protection in modifying that risk.

Abstract
We compared the efficacy and toxicity of BEAM (BCNU, etoposide, cytarabine and melphalan) and BuCyE (busulfan, cyclophosphamide and etoposide), given prior to autologous stem cell transplantation (ASCT), in 65 patients with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. Of these 65 patients, 43 received BEAM and 22 received BuCyE. Their age, gender distribution, International Prognostic Index, status of disease at ASCT and median number of infused CD34(+) cells/kg were similar. Neutrophil and platelet engraftment were significantly faster in the BuCyE group. Rates of mucositis, nausea/vomiting, diarrhea, bleeding and infections were similar in the two groups. Median overall survival and event-free survival did not differ significantly between the two groups. These findings indicate that BuCyE is an effective conditioning regimen, showing similar survival outcomes and toxicity profiles as BEAM. Furthermore, hematologic recovery is significantly faster in patients given the BuCyE conditioning regimen.

Abstract
To evaluate the effect of rituximab in poor-prognosis patients with diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL), a multicenter phase II trial combining rituximab with chemotherapy followed by high-dose therapy (HDT) with autologous stem cell transplant was conducted by the Groupe Ouest-Est des Leucémies et des Autres Maladies du Sang (GOELAMS). Patients were aged 18 to 60 years, with newly diagnosed CD20-expressing DLBCL, and at least 2 adverse risk factors as defined by the age-adjusted International Prognostic Index (aa-IPI). The treatment consisted of 2 courses of high-dose CHOP-like regimen on day 1 and 15 and 1 course of methotrexate and cytarabine on day 36. Four doses of rituximab (375 mg/m(2)) were infused on days 1, 15, 22, and 36. For patients who achieved at least a partial remission (PR), HDT followed by autologous stem cell transplant was performed on day 66. From April 2002 to May 2003, 42 patients were eligible. Half were high aa-IPI risk patients. Thirty-eight patients (90%) completed the treatment. Treatment-related mortality was 7% and no toxic death was related to rituximab. Complete response rate after the end of the full treatment was 67%. With a median follow-up of 66 months, event-free survival and overall survival rates were 55% and 74%, respectively. Median survival was not reached. First-line HDT with rituximab offers promising results for young adults with intermediate high or high aa-IPI high-grade lymphoma. Immediate and late toxicities were low. This treatment is being randomly compared prospectively with CHOP-14-rituximab in young adults with DLBCL (GOELAMS 075 trial).
