Abstract
Background: In China, Chongqing is the first province implement a province-wide HPV vaccination free program for female students. Given the HPV vaccination of adolescents is largely dependent on the intent of their guardians, this study examined the factors associated with the parental intention to vaccinate their daughter against HPV. And we could explore how to change the factors to incentivize more guardians to vaccinate their children. Methods: This study used a cross-sectional survey designed by multi-stage non-randomized sampling. Study participants were guardians of female students of second year of junior high in all districts and counties of Chongqing, who were most knowledgeable about the immunization status of the adolescents. Data was collected by an online survey platform between December, 2022 to March, 2023. Results: We collected 20, 642 valid samples. Among the participating guardians, nearly 40% guardians had never heard of HPV and HPV vaccine. 68.8% guardians considered vaccinating their children against HPV, 12.5% guardians had vaccinated or vaccinating HPV vaccine for their children, and only 16.7% were reluctant to vaccinate for their children right now. Some individual characteristics of guardians (e.g. age, number of the children) were associated with the intention of HPV vaccines. Sufficient knowledge of HPV and HPV vaccine would promote the HPV vaccination, and vaccine hesitancy prevented guardians from vaccinating their children. Conclusions: Majority of guardians held a positive intention to vaccinate their daughter, higher than the foreign uptake. Exploring the methods of social propaganda to promote HPV-related knowledge and reduce the safety concerns of guardians could help improve HPV vaccination intention.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The majority of women in low- and middle-income countries have low awareness of cervical cancer. This study sought to establish awareness of cervical cancer risk factors and preventive approaches, as well as sources of information and perceived causes of cervical cancer among secondary school girls in northern Uganda. METHODS This was a cross-sectional study conducted in rural northern Uganda. We collected data using an investigator administered pre-tested questionnaire. Analysis was done with STATA version 14.0. Multivariate analyses with logistic regressions models were used to determine magnitudes of association between independent and outcome variables. Odds ratios and accompanying 95% confidence intervals are reported. Statistical significance was considered if the two sided p-value <.05. RESULTS Most participants (97%; n = 624) had heard of cervical cancer before this study. The most common source of information about cervical cancer was friends (31.1%; n = 194). More than half of the participants (59%; n = 380) had heard about a vaccine that prevents cervical cancer, but only a third (33%; n = 124) had ever received a dose of the vaccine. The majority of participants (89%; n = 550) reported that cervical cancer could be prevented; however only half (52%; n = 290) knew that vaccination of girls aged 9-13 years could prevent cervical cancer. The majority of participants did not recognize the risk factors for cervical cancer; for example, only 15% (n = 98), 7% (n = 45), and 1.4% (n = 9) recognized early onset of sexual intercourse, infection by the human papillomavirus (HPV), and smoking respectively. On adjusting for age, students' class, and religion, students in schools with school health programs were twice (aOR = 2.24: 95%CI; 1.24-4.06) more likely to know that cervical cancer is preventable. CONCLUSION Secondary school girls need information on cervical cancer risk factors and approaches to prevention so that they may avoid exposures to the risk factors and promptly seek and undertake preventive approaches including HPV vaccinations.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Despite its importance for young women, the human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination coverage remains low in Japan. Previous studies have examined behaviors related to HPV catch-up vaccination. Uniquely, this study aimed to investigate perceptions and factors influencing vaccination coverage among female university students in the catch-up program, focusing on both medical and non-medical undergraduates. METHODS A web-based survey was conducted at Kochi University from January 16 to February 13, 2023, targeting female students born between April 2, 1997, and April 1, 2006. The survey collected demographic data and assessed knowledge of HPV infection, cervical cancer, and preventive measures. Chi-square tests and logistic regression analyses were used to identify differences between vaccinated and unvaccinated groups as well as factors related to HPV vaccination. RESULTS Of the 310 participants, 39.0 % were vaccinated against HPV, 35.2 % were freshmen, and 75.2 % were in medical science programs. HPV vaccination was significantly associated with being in upper years of university (OR = 3.78-42.83), studying medical sciences (OR = 1.93), undergoing cervical cancer screening (OR = 4.04), and receiving free vaccination vouchers (OR = 2.03). CONCLUSION Knowledge and awareness of HPV and cervical cancer significantly contribute to higher vaccination uptake in the generation receiving catch-up vaccinations. Tailoring information and distributing free vaccination vouchers could enhance HPV vaccination rates and awareness in this group.

Abstract
School nurses are uniquely positioned to educate students about immunizations, including human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination, but schools are often without a nurse for different reasons. In lieu of nurses, teachers who closely interact with students and are traditionally well-trusted by parents may be able to communicate about HPV vaccination, alleviating parental vaccine hesitancy. This systematic review explores school teachers' perspectives on adolescent HPV vaccination and factors influencing their willingness to make vaccine recommendations. We searched three databases with appropriate medical subject headings and keywords to identify relevant studies. We reviewed fifteen studies and provided an extensive summary and a comparison of the results across the studies. Teachers had low to moderate levels of HPV knowledge with low self-efficacy to counsel parents about the HPV vaccine and expressed concerns about the vaccine condoning adolescent sexual activity, vaccine side effects, and parental disapproval. Nonetheless, some teachers showed interest in learning about vaccine effectiveness in preventing HPV-associated cancers and wanted guidance on vaccine communication with parents, viewing schools as adequate venues to promote and deliver HPV vaccines. Schools should consider educating teachers on HPV and HPV vaccination, with a focus on effective vaccine communication practices to increase adolescent HPV vaccine uptake.

Abstract
This was a mixed-methods study comprising a questionnaire-based survey, a qualitative study, and analysis of school newsletters to evaluate elementary school staff's acceptability, delivery challenges and communication about school-located influenza vaccination program (SIVP) in Hong Kong. We found that school staff with lower intention to implement SIVP perceived greater logistical difficulties in arranging SIVP. Challenges regarding program delivery included schools' limited infrastructure, the burden of paperwork, the fear of being overwhelmed by multiple school-based vaccination schedules, lacking confidence in communicating with parents about influenza vaccines, and the difficulties in managing vaccination-related anxiety among children with intellectual disability. School staff were generally passive in communicating with parents and students about influenza vaccines. We also found that schools may use the school newsletters as a substitute of the formal informed consent forms. Good partnerships among government, service providers and schools should be established to minimize the burden of paperwork for school staff, facilitate early planning of SIVP, and support schools with limited infrastructure and the vaccination of children with intellectual disabilities. Training is needed to enhance school staff's confidence in communicating with parents and students about influenza vaccines and improve information delivery to support parents' informed decisions for children's vaccination.

Abstract
After the Japanese Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare (MHLW) suspended its recommendation for the human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine in June 2013, the rate of members of the new target population receiving of at least one of three doses of HPV vaccine declined, reaching 0.3% in 2016. Recently, however, the monthly number of vaccines delivered to healthcare facilities has significantly increased, from 878 doses over December 2016–April 2017 to 35,396 doses over January–March 2021. This may be due to governmental efforts to convey information about the HPV vaccination to the eligible population and their caregivers, as well as local educational programs, despite ongoing suspension of the recommendation. The incidence of reported adverse events per vaccine dose has not increased since 2016. While governmental recommendation of the HPV vaccination remains essential for optimal vaccine coverage, the recent increase in the number of doses delivered to healthcare facilities is promising.

Abstract
Globally, over 300,000 women die of cervical cancer annually. Given that human papillomavirus vaccines are highly effective in the primary prevention of cervical cancer, it is important to explore the barriers and facilitators to vaccination uptake in areas where the burden of disease remains high. This study, informed by the socio-ecological model, aimed to qualitatively explore vaccination uptake via in-depth interviews with eleven nurses and ten teachers involved in vaccine delivery in Iquitos, Peru. The results highlighted that vaccine uptake was influenced by multiple factors including individuals' knowledge and attitudes, community beliefs, geography, and policy level variables. Findings suggested that professionals were informed and supportive of the HPV vaccination program but perceived that parents were uninformed about the vaccine. There is a need for community education programs, for a revision of the process of obtaining parental consent, for improved communication between professionals and for involvement of grassroots staff in policy making.

Abstract
We previously conducted a randomized controlled study to examine persuasive messages recommending HPV vaccination to mothers with daughters in Japan. That study showed that the three types of intervention message used (statistical information only, a patient's narrative in addition to statistical information, and a mother's narrative in addition to statistical information) all significantly improved mothers' intention to have their daughter(s) receive the HPV vaccine, in comparison with mothers who received no messaging. The present study is a follow-up survey to assess the long-term effect of the intervention. Four months after the initial study, in January 2018, participants in the previous study were contacted and queried about their current intention to have their daughter(s) receive the HPV vaccine. Statistical analysis was conducted using the paired t-test and analysis of variance. A total of 978 mothers participated in the current survey. Vaccination intention 4 months after intervention had decreased to a level that did not differ significantly from the level prior to intervention in all three intervention conditions. The amount of change in vaccination intention 4 months after intervention did not differ significantly among the three intervention groups (p = 0.871). A single exposure to messaging was insufficient to produce a persistent intervention effect.

Abstract
In this bibliography, the researchers provide an introduction to the available evidence base of actions to promote vaccine literacy. The research team organized interventions to create a tool that can inform health communicators and practitioners seeking a resource focused on strategy and implementation design for actions that support vaccine literacy. This scoping bibliography is honed specifically to respond to the urgency of the current pandemic, when supporting and increasing vaccine literacy offers promise for achieving the critically needed high levels of vaccination. Over the course of the coming months and year, this bibliography will be a dynamic and "living" document hosted and maintained on vaccineliteracy.com.
