Abstract
The commercial application of surfaces with superhydrophilic (SHPL) properties is well known as an efficient strategy to address problems such as anti-fogging, anti-frosting, and anti-biological contamination. However, current SHPL coatings are limited by their poor water and abrasion resistances. Thus, herein, to solve these problems active glass was employed as a substrate, and a stable and transparent SHPL solution was prepared via the spraying process. Aqueous polyacrylic resin (PAA), SiO2 nanoparticles (NPs), tetraethyl orthosilicate (TEOS), and sodium allyl sulfonate (SDS) were utilized as the four main components of the PAA-TEOS-SiO2 coating. The durability properties including anti-abrasion, resistance to water, and contact component loss were investigated via the Taber abrasion test, boiling water immersion test, and anti-fogging test, respectively. Furthermore, the structure, composition, and wettability of the coating before and after the friction and water immersion tests were compared via water contact angle (WCA) measurements. Furthermore, the effect of the type of resin on the properties of the coating was investigated. The surface morphology of the blended water-based polyacrylic acid (PAA) resin was uniform and flat and its adhesion to the substrate was the highest (4.21 MPa). Considering the durability and optical properties of the coating, the optimal blend was 3 wt% PAA resin, which exhibited a transmittance of 90%. When the content of TEOS, which enhanced the crosslinking in the coating, was increased to 2 wt%, the results showed that the SHPL coating maintained good anti-friction, boiling resistance, and anti-fogging properties under the conditions of 300 cycle Taber friction with 250 g load and soaking in hot water at 100 °C for 1 h. In particular, the excellent durability of strong acid and alkali resistance, heat resistance, and long-term aging resistance will facilitate the commercial viability and expand the application of SHPL coating in various research fields.

Abstract
Abstract
This study aims to improve the hydrophobic properties and corrosion resistance of fluorinated acrylate coatings. The surface of nano-SiO2 was modified by the silicone coupling reagent (KH-570), and the reactive functional groups were introduced to modify fluorinated acrylates. The functionalized SiO2-modified waterborne fluorinated acrylate emulsion was prepared by free polymerization with dual initiators. The structure of the polymer was analyzed by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), nuclear magnetic resonance spectro-meter (1H-NMR), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and Waters gel chromatography (GPC). The properties of the films and coatings were analyzed by contact angle, atomic force microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, and electrochemical analysis. The results showed that the contact angle reached 120° when the SiO2 content was 3%, the electrochemical impedance value reached 1.49 × 107 Ω·cm2, and the pencil hardness was 3H.

Assessing the Effect of CeO 2 Nanoparticles as Corrosion Inhibitor in Hybrid Biobased Waterborne Acrylic Direct to Metal Coating Binders. Polymers (Basel) 2021; 13:polym13060848. Abstract
CeO2 nanoparticles were incorporated in waterborne binders containing high biobased content (up to 70%) in order to analyze the anticorrosion performance for direct to metal coatings. Biobased binders were synthesized by batch miniemulsion polymerization of 2-octyl acrylate and isobornyl methacrylate monomers using a phosphate polymerizable surfactant (Sipomer PAM200) that lead to the formation of phosphate functionalized latexes. Upon the direct application of such binders on steel, the functionalized polymer particles were able to interact with steel, creating a thin phosphatization layer between the metal and the polymer and avoiding flash rust. The in situ incorporation of the CeO2 nanoparticles during the polymerization process led to their homogeneous distribution in the final polymer film, which produced outstanding anticorrosion performance according to the Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy measurements. In fact, steel substrates coated with the hybrid polymer film (30-40 µm thick) showed high barrier corrosion resistance after 41 days (~1000 h) of immersion in NaCl water solution and active inhibition capabilities thanks to the presence of the CeO2 nanoparticles. This work opens the door to the fabrication of sustainable hybrid anticorrosion waterborne coatings.

Abstract
Corrosion of metals induces enormous loss of material performance and increase of cost, which has been a common and intractable issue that needs to be addressed urgently. Coating technology has been acknowledged to be the most economic and efficient approach to retard the metal corrosion. For several decades, polymers have been recognized as an effective anticorrosion coating material in both industries and scientific communities, as they demonstrate good barrier properties, ease of altering properties and massive production. Nanomaterials show distinctively different physical and chemical properties compared with their bulk counterparts, which have been considered as highly promising functional materials in various applications, impacting virtually all the fields of science and technologies. Recently, the introduction of nanomaterials with various properties into polymer matrix to form a polymer nanocomposite has been devoted to improve anticorrosive ability of polymer coatings. In this review article, we highlight the recent advances and synopsis of these high-performance polymer nanocomposites as anticorrosive coating materials. We expect that this work could be helpful for the researchers who are interested in the development of functional nanomaterials and advanced corrosion protection technology.

Abstract
Typical antifogging coatings based on hydrophilic polymers are soft and susceptible to mechanical damage. In this paper, an antifogging coating that is both scratch-resistant and self-healing is fabricated by copolymerizing sulfobetaine methacrylate and 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate in the presence of sulfobetaine-modified silica nanoparticles in one pot. The coating is highly efficient in preventing fog formation at the surface and reducing ice adhesion, and is resistant to fouling by oil and protein, due to the strong hydration ability of the zwitterionic moieties. The composite coating is resistant to scratching and abrasion under normal use conditions to maintain its transparency due to increased hardness by the filled silica nanoparticles and is able to heal completely within several minutes severe scratches and cuts inflicted in harsh conditions, owing to the water-assisted reversibility of the electrostatic and hydrogen-bonding interactions holding together the polymer components and the silica nanoparticles. The multiple desirable properties demonstrated and the simple fabrication process of the coating offers great potential in many practical applications.

Abstract
Bifunctional hairy silica nanoparticles (BHSNs), which are silica nanoparticles covered with alkyl and amino organic chains, were prepared as high-performance additives for lubricants. Compared with hairy silica nanoparticles covered by a single type of organic chain, binary hairy silica nanoparticles exhibit the advantages of both types of organic chains, which exhibit excellent compatibility with lubricants and adsorbability to metal surfaces. Nanoparticles with different ratios of amino and alkyl ligands were investigated. In comparison to an untreated lubricant, BHSNs reduce the friction coefficient and wear scar diameter by 40% and 60%, respectively. The wear mechanism of BHSNs was investigated, and the protective and filling effect of the nanoparticles improved because of collaboration of amino and alkyl ligands.

Abstract
Three silica-titania thin films with various degrees of molecular homogeneity were synthesized by the sol-gel process with the same precursor formula but different reaction paths. The dried films prepared by a single spin-coating process have a thickness of 500-700 nm and displayed no cracks or pin holes. The transmittances and refractive indices of the samples are >97.8% in the range of 350-1800 nm and 1.62-1.65 at 500 nm, respectively. The in-plane and out-of-plane chemical homogeneities of the films were analyzed by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and Auger electron spectroscopy, respectively. For the film with the highest degree of homogeneity, the deviations of O, Si, and Ti atomic contents in both in-plane and out-of-plane directions are less than 1.5%, indicating that the film is highly molecularly homogeneous. It also possesses the highest transparency and the lowest refractive index among the three samples.
