Abstract
Scientists from various areas of the world indicate in their studies that skin lesions occur in the course of infection with the SARS-CoV-2 virus. This article is a review of the most frequently described cutaneous manifestations of SARS-CoV-2 virus infection and the potential pathophysiology of their development, as well as information on abnormalities in histopathological tests. The article describes the impact of some factors related to the COVID-19 pandemic on the exacerbation of chronic dermatological diseases. This work was constructed on the basis of 142 research studies, reviews, and meta-analyses, focusing on the methods and materials used in individual works as well as the results and conclusions resulting from them. Some skin lesions may be a potential prognostic marker of the course of the disease and may also be a prodromal symptom or the only symptom of SARS-CoV-2 virus infection. Stress related to the COVID-19 pandemic may exacerbate some chronic dermatological diseases. A correlation was observed between the type of skin lesions and the patient's age. The occurrence of skin diseases may also be influenced by drugs used to treat infections caused by SARS-CoV-2. A relationship was observed between the patient's ethnic origin and skin lesions occurring in the course of COVID-19. There is a need to further diagnose the cutaneous manifestations of SARS-CoV-2 infection and to learn the detailed pathomechanism of their occurrence in order to better understand the essence of the disease and find an appropriate treatment method.

Abstract
Since the COVID-19 outbreak, there have been numerous reports concerning COVID-19 skin manifestations. Debate has ensued as to whether these lesions are unique or represent a form of viral reactivation. The aim of this research was to compare the incidence of herpetic skin lesions between a COVID-19 group, a Sars-CoV-2 mRNA vaccination group, and their respective controls, taking into account their Herpesviridae carrier status. To achieve this goal, the Maccabi Healthcare Services' database was scanned and cohorts of both verified COVID-19 and mRNA vaccinated patients were extracted and matched to random control groups. Patients with a documented occurrence of any Herpesviridae infection that occurred prior to the studied 'event' (i.e., COVID-19 or mRNA vaccination) were regarded as carriers of Herpesviridae. A COVID-19-related or vaccination-related lesion was defined as a clinically diagnosed herpetic lesion appearing 1 month after the index date. In the COVID-19 cohort, there was an insignificant difference in herpetic lesion incidence between the groups. However, logistic regression demonstrated that the interaction of COVID-19 with the Herpesviridae carrier status was statistically significant. For the vaccination cohort, the data showed statistically significant differences between groups in herpetic frequencies, which manifested as an almost 2-fold odds of developing a herpetic lesion. In conclusion, following the analysis of two large cohorts, there is evidence to support the contribution of both COVID-19 and the mRNA vaccine to the reactivation of Herpesviridae. Our results diminish the idea that COVID-19 has unique, herpetic-like lesions.

Abstract
AIM This review aimed to assess the impact of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) on skin health to establish a classification of the skin lesions that occur most frequently during the disease and whether a particular category of skin damage is more likely to occur both in the short term and in the long term. METHODS We conducted a literature search of the PubMed database. Ultimately, 109 articles were included in this review. The exact phrases∕syntax and connectors used for the database search∕query were as follows: "Coronavirus and skin", "COVID-19 and skin", "SARS-CoV-2 and skin", "Coronavirus cutaneous manifestations", "COVID-19 cutaneous manifestations", "SARS-CoV-2 cutaneous manifestations", "Coronavirus dermatology", "SARS-CoV-2 and dermatology", "COVID-19 and dermatology", "COVID-19 and skin eruption", "Coronavirus and skin rash", "COVID-19 and hair", "Coronavirus and hair", "Coronavirus and nails", "SARS-CoV-2 and hair", and "SARS-CoV-2 and nails". Only articles with abstracts referring strictly to cutaneous manifestations of COVID-19 were chosen. Articles without abstracts were not considered. RESULTS We established six of the most frequently reported clinical patterns associated with COVID-19 and their probability of occurring during COVID-19 disease evolution based on the current literature reports. We did not identify the particular types of skin lesions that are most prone to long-term persistence; most such cases are rare, and no conclusion can be drawn based on them. CONCLUSIONS Apart from classified COVID-19-related skin disorders, this pandemic has been a challenge for dermatologists and a wide range of cutaneous side effects related to severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) treatments have been reported. We are aware of other polymorphic clinical presentations, with novel data being reported periodically, but the pathophysiological mechanisms and evolution are largely unknown.

Abstract
PURPOSE OF REVIEW Skin rashes seen during COVID-19 usually feature maculopapular or vesicular morphology, thus mimicking cutaneous eruptions occurring in other common infectious dermatoses, such as mononucleosis, chickenpox, sixth disease and measles, with possible diagnostic mistakes. In this review article, we sought to provide a practical overview about clinical appearance of skin rashes related to SARS-CoV-2 infection. RECENT FINDINGS The study summarizes literature evidence on clinical patterns of COVID-19-associated maculopapular or vesicular rash, with a particular emphasis on the principal points of differentiation with possible mimickers. SUMMARY Several differences do exist between rashes due to SARS-CoV-2 infection and other viral eruptions, mainly including lesions morphology, spreading pattern, symptoms and mucosal involvement. The increase of awareness of such features among clinicians may help promptly recognize COVID-19-related exanthemas in order to take proper action to manage the infection.

Abstract
The SARS-coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2) that causes coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), has spread worldwide and caused a global health emergency. SARS-CoV-2 is a coronaviridae virus that infects target cells by interacting with the plasma membrane-expressed angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 (ACE2) via the S1 component of the S protein. Effective host immune response to SARS-CoV-2 infection, which includes both innate and adaptive immunity, is critical for virus management and elimination. The intensity and outcome of COVID-19 may be related to an overabundance of pro-inflammatory cytokines, which results in a "cytokine storm" and acute respiratory distress syndrome. After SARS-CoV-2 infection, the immune system's hyperactivity and production of autoantibodies may result in autoimmune diseases such as autoimmune hemolytic anemia, autoimmune thrombocytopenia, Guillain-Barré syndrome, vasculitis, multiple sclerosis, pro-thrombotic state, and diffuse coagulopathy, as well as certain autoinflammatory conditions such as Kawasaki disease in children. We have reviewed the association between COVID-19 and autoimmune disorders in this article.

Abstract
Background Owing to the myriad clinical presentations of COVID-19 vaccine-induced adverse events, clinicopathological correlation is the key to understanding the underlying pathophysiology of these reactions. However, there is still a dearth of such systematic studies across a wide spectrum of vaccine reactions. Aim and Objectives This study provides a clinical and histopathological correlation of COVID-19 vaccine-induced mucocutaneous reactions. Materials and Methods The study population included all the individuals developing any form of self-reported mucocutaneous adverse events within 4 weeks of receiving the COVID-19 vaccine. The clinical and histopathological features were recorded. Results A total of 126 cases were identified. Seven histopathological patterns were recognized. The most common histopathological feature was spongiotic dermatitis, seen in all the patients with "vaccine-related eruption of papules and plaques" (VREPP). Other patterns included lichenoid or interface dermatitis, dermal hypersensitivity reaction, leukocytoclastic vasculitis, subepidermal blistering, psoriasiform hyperplasia, and dermal granulomatous reaction. Conclusion Owing to such myriad clinical presentations, utilizing a histopathological classification could ease categorizing the vaccine-induced mucocutaneous eruptions.

Abstract
BACKGROUND COVID-19 is a highly contagious respiratory tract infection caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2. COVID-19 outbreak, which caused thousands of deaths, has been declared a pandemic by the World Health Organization in March 2020. AIM Skin manifestations related to SARS-CoV-2 infection can be divided mainly into five groups: chilblainlike lesions (CBLLs), maculopapular eruptions, urticarial eruptions, vesicular eruptions, and livedo or necrosis. Other skin findings reported are erythema multiforme (EM)-like lesions and skin findings associated with multisystem inflammatory syndrome in children (MIS-C) and rarely with multisystem inflammatory syndrome in adults (MIS-A). Other manifestations such as pityriasis rosea or shingles are also reported. METHODS A total of 60 articles including reviews, studies and case reports were selected for the evaluation in this review. RESULTS The skin manifestations associated with COVID-19 infection are numerous and can vary widely. The major dermatological patterns of COVID-19 can be classified as inflammatory reactions (maculopapular/morbilliform, urticarial and vesicular rashes), or lesions of vascular origin (chilblain like rashes, petechiae/purpura, and livedo acemose-like pattern) CONCLUSION: We believe that the dermatologist could play an important role in the response to the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic through early recognition of skin lesions suggestive of COVID-19, particularly in paucisymptomatic infections where this recognition could direct toward an early diagnosis of infection that certainly leads to a better prognosis.

Abstract
The systemic and respiratory clinical manifestations of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) include fever, coughing, sneezing, sore throat, rhinitis, dyspnea, chest pain, malaise, fatigue, anorexia and headache. Moreover, cutaneous manifestations have been reported in 0.2% to 20.4% of cases. Early diagnosis of COVID-19 leads to a better prognosis; knowledge of its cutaneous manifestations is one way that may help fulfil this goal. In this review, PubMed and Medline were searched with the terms "dermatology", "skin" and "cutaneous", each in combination with "SARS-CoV-2" or "COVID-19". All articles, including original articles, case reports, case series and review articles published from the emergence of the disease to the time of submission, were included. In this comprehensive narrative review, we tried to provide an analysis of the cutaneous manifestations associated with COVID-19, including maculopapular rash, urticaria, Chilblain-like, vesicular lesions, livedo reticularis and petechiae in asymptomatic/symptomatic COVID-19 patients that might be the first complication of infection after respiratory symptoms. Immune dysregulation, cytokine storms, side effects of antiviral drugs, environmental conditions and high-dose intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG) therapy might be involved in the pathogenesis of the cutaneous manifestations in COVID-19 patients. Therefore, knowledge of cutaneous COVID-19 manifestations might be vital in achieving a quick diagnosis in some COVID-19 patients, which would help control the pandemic. Further research is very much warranted to clarify this issue.

Abstract
Purpose The aim of this study was to assess the incidence and characteristics of COVID-19 cutaneous manifestations among geriatric patients infected with the SARS-CoV-2 virus. Patients and Methods Sixty-four nursing home residents in Dobre Miasto, Poland (mean age: 79 years) infected with SARS-CoV-2 were monitored for skin lesions during the epidemic outbreak in 2020. Only five of them presented COVID-19 dermatological manifestation: vesicular (4 cases) and erythematous (1 case) skin lesions, which appeared after the remaining symptoms of the disease had resolved. Results The average time between COVID-19 onset and cutaneous manifestation was 22 days. Skin lesions persisted in five cases 112, 17, 21,19 and 27 days, respectively, and were often accompanied by pruritus and neuropathic pain. Conclusion Skin manifestations of SARS-CoV-2 infection might be misdiagnosed or overlooked, particularly among elderly patients with chronic diseases. The recognition of skin lesions due to COVID-19 might improve patients' quality of life by reducing the intensity of symptoms such as pruritus or neuropathic pain.

Abstract
Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) causing coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has been a rising concern since its declaration as a pandemic by the World Health Organization on 11 March 2020. Recently, its association with multiple underlying organs has been identified that includes cardiac, renal, gastrointestinal, nervous systems, and cutaneous manifestations. Cutaneous COVID-19 findings have been supposedly classified into the following categories: vesicular (varicella-like), papulo-vesiculsar, chilblains-like ("COVID toes") maculopapular, and urticarial morphologies. In this review, we aim to focus on the proposed pathophysiology behind the various dermatological manifestations associated with COVID-19 and their associated management. We also included prevalence and clinical features of the different COVID-19-related skin lesions in our review. A comprehensive narrative review of the literature was performed in PubMed databases. Data from case reports, observational studies, case series, and reviews till June 2022 were all screened and included in the review.

Abstract
The newly emerged coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID‐19), induced by a novel strain of the coronavirus family, named severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS‐CoV‐2), is a rapidly spreading global threat. This virus affects a fair number of tissues in the human body by availing itself of potential target receptors like Angiotensin‐Converting Enzyme 2 (ACE2). Presenting with diverse clinical manifestations, COVID‐19 has raised the urge for extensive research in different medical fields, including dermatology. Developing a comprehensive knowledge of cutaneous manifestations is highly important as it can help us in early diagnosis and better management of the ongoing pandemic. The dermatological presentations of COVID‐19 are classified into main categories of vascular and non‐vascular (exanthematous) patterns. Though not yet fully confirmed, the pathogenesis of these cutaneous presentations has been suggested to be more related to the overactivation of the immune system. In this review, we discuss in detail the clinical features of the diverse skin lesions in COVID‐19 patients and the imperative role of the immune system in their pathogenesis and development. Furthermore, we will discuss the reasons behind the accentuation of skin lesions in COVID‐19 compared to the same virus family predecessors.

Abstract
Background: The earliest cases of Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) emerged in Wuhan, China, in December 2019. Since the declaration as a pandemic on 11 March 2020, further dermatological conditions continue to be documented. We herein present a novel literature review of dermatological manifestations associated with the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. To date, this literature review is the first broad-spectrum examination that analyzes a range of dermatological manifestations related to the COVID-19 pandemic: infection, vaccinations, personal protective equipment (PPE), and psychosocial factors. Methods: A detailed literature search was conducted using key terms for cutaneous manifestations associated with the scope of this review. The search retrieved 2199 articles. Results: The COVID-19 pandemic has triggered a significant range of dermatologic sequela. Etiologies of lesions continue to be investigated. Proposed mechanisms include inflammatory response to spike protein, vitamin D deficiency, ACE2 receptor activation, androgen levels, and increased psychological stress. One prominent mechanism describes viral spike protein invasion into the dermis by binding to the angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 (ACE-2) receptors in keratinocytes, with a secondary immunological response. Conclusions: Dermatologists play an integral role in the proper diagnosis and treatment of COVID-related lesions. Early treatment regimens and timely prophylaxis have been shown to safely reduce infection-related dermatological sequelae. Additional investigations and data collection can reduce disease burden and improve overall prognosis.

Abstract
COVID-19 can affect multiple organs, including skin. A wide range of skin manifestations have been reported in literature. Six main phenotypes have been identified: i) urticarial rash, ii) confluent erythematous/maculopapular/morbilliform rash, iii) papulovesicular exanthem, iv) a chilblain-like acral pattern, v) a livedo reticularis/racemosa-like pattern, and vi) a purpuric vasculitic pattern. The pathogenetic mechanism is still not completely clear, but a role of hyperactive immune response, complement activation and microvascular injury have been postulated. The only correlation between the cutaneous phenotype and the severity of COVID-19 has been observed in the case of chilblain-like acral lesions, that is generally associated with the benign/subclinical course of COVID-19. Herein, we report two cases of SARS-CoV- 2 infection in patients who developed cutaneous manifestations that completely solved with systemic steroids and antihistamines. The first case is a female patient not vaccinated for SARS-CoV-2 with COVID-19 associated pneumonia, while the second case is a vaccinated female patient with only skin manifestations.

Abstract
PURPOSE OF REVIEW Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is a well established respiratory tract illness. Recent studies in adults and children have shown an increasing number of patients reporting polymorphic cutaneous manifestations during COVID-19, including different types of rashes, from maculopapular, vascular, vesicular to atypical forms. RECENT FINDINGS Although pathogenesis of skin manifestations is still not fully understood, it has been proposed that cutaneous involvement during COVID-19 may be the results of the activation of the immune response against severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2, the reactivation or co-infection of herpesviruses or drug hypersensitivity. SUMMARY According to available literature, skin manifestations in patients with COVID-19 may be categorized on the basis of their clinical presentations as follows: erythematous rashes, lesions of vascular origin, vesicular rash, urticarial rash and acute generalized exanthematous pustulosis (AGEP), erythema multiforme and other polymorphic erythema/atypical reactions. Prompt recognition of these cutaneous manifestations represents a crucial point to facilitate diagnosis and management of COVID-19 patients.

Hintergrund
Die durch das Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Corona Virus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) ausgelöste anhaltende globale Pandemie manifestiert sich neben bekannten Organsystemen auch an der Haut. In der Literatur wurden verschiedene klinische Muster von Hauterscheinungen mit COVID-19 in Verbindung gebracht. Die Kenntnis der kutanen Manifestationen kann bei der Früherkennung, Risikostratifizierung von Patienten, Diagnose und den therapeutischen Strategien hilfreich sein. In dem vorliegenden Artikel wird der aktuelle Kenntnisstand zu dermatologischen Befunden im Zusammenhang mit COVID-19 unter Berücksichtigung der klinischen Präsentation, aktuellen pathophysiologischen Konzepten und Management zusammengefasst. Zukünftig sollen auch Erkenntnisse aus einem aktuell geführten Register der Universität Harvard gezogen werden können. Derzeit werden hier Hautveränderungen in Assoziation mit COVID-19 gesammelt (https://ilds.org/covid-19/international-dermatology-covid19-registry/).
Ziel der Arbeit
Ziel dieses Übersichtsartikels ist es, die aktuell verfügbare Literatur mit Hinweisen auf Hautveränderungen im Zusammenhang mit COVID-19 zu analysieren, zu strukturieren und die wichtigsten Aspekte zusammenzufassen.
Material und Methoden
Es wurde eine systematische Literaturrecherche in der medizin-wissenschaftlichen Datenbank PubMed und Medline für englischsprachige Originalartikel, Fallserien und -berichte sowie Übersichtsarbeiten unter Verwendung der Suchbegriffe „Covid“, „COVID-19“ oder „SARS-CoV-2“ in Kombination mit „skin“ oder „dermatol“ durchgeführt, welche bis Februar 2021 (Einträge bis zum 28.02.2021) veröffentlicht wurden. Untersucht wurde der Zusammenhang zwischen bestätigten oder vermuteten SARS-CoV-2-Infektionen in Assoziation mit Hautmanifestationen. Eingeschlossen wurden vorwiegend Arbeiten, welche ein möglichst großes Patientenkollektiv, das Erwachsenenalter und einen positiven Corona-Nachweis beinhalteten. Ziel der Arbeit ist es, einen Überblick der am häufigsten beobachteten Hautmanifestationen bei Infektionen mit SARS-CoV‑2 zu geben.
Ergebnisse und Diskussion
Die Zuordnung der Hautmanifestationen im Rahmen einer SARS-CoV-2-Infektion nach klinisch dermatologischen Mustern kann dazu beitragen, Patienten mit erhöhtem Risiko frühzeitig zu identifizieren und adäquat zu behandeln, um einem möglicherweise schwereren Krankheitsverlauf wie er beispielsweise bei der Livedo auftritt, entgegenzuwirken. Die erworbenen Kenntnisse der pathophysiologischen Mechanismen können zu einem verbesserten Management der Erkrankung und Hilfestellung möglicher Gegenmaßnahmen in der Bewältigung der Erkrankung beitragen.

Abstract
Introduction It has been almost 2 years since the first reports on cutaneous manifestations of COVID-19. Those reported in children are different and include macular, papular, lichenoid, vesicular, urticarial, and vascular morphologies, among others. The prognosis of isolated cutaneous involvement in COVID-19 in children is usually self-limiting but the extreme variety of clinical presentations complicates the clinical approach. Methods Numerous reviews have been systematically drafted and edited giving the clinicians a future direction for skin presentations during pandemics. Results and Discussion Hereby we report the rare and common manifestations of COVID-19 in children and question the recurrence phenomena and age-related distribution of the eruptions.

Abstract
The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, declared by the World Health Organisation in March 2020, with the emergence of new, possibly more contagious and more virulent strains, remains a research subject, with the complex systemic involvement better described and understood, but also with a variety of skin and mucosal lesions described in the literature. Mucocutaneous lesions associated with SARS-CoV-2 infection are still under investigation, due to their polymorphic clinical aspect and incompletely understood pathogenic mechanism. The cutaneous inflammatory, exanthematous and purpuric rashes, erythemato-purpuric enanthems, oral ulcers, lichenoid oral lesions, conjunctivitis, conjunctival pseudomembranes, or corneal lesions have been described in patients with COVID-19. Several classifications have been proposed based on the clinical pattern, histological findings, and possible pathogenic mechanisms. The pathogenic mechanism, the diagnostic criteria, the prognostic importance of these lesions are still being debated. The diverse clinical aspects of dermatological manifestations render the diagnosis difficult. However, several clinical patterns strongly associated with COVID-19, such as chilblains, papulovesicular exanthems, and febrile rash require increased awareness and changes to the investigation protocols for these conditions, to include testing for SARS-CoV-2. In the present review, the mucocutaneous findings associated with the novel coronavirus infection, reported thus far in the literature, was provided.

Abstract
Coronavirus disease-19 (COVID-19) is an emerging health situation caused by the "severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2" (SARS-CoV-2). The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic which emerged from the Chinese city of Wuhan in December 2019 has spread to over 188 countries and infected over 100 million people across the globe in over one year. Most common symptoms of COVID-19 include fever and respiratory illness. Among extrapulmonary signs associated with COVID-19, dermatological manifestations have been increasingly reported from different geographical regions. The exact incidence or prevalence of COVID-19 associated skin manifestation remains largely unknown and the pathophysiological mechanisms are still unclear. In this article, we have attempted to give a comprehensive overview of what has been learned an year into the pandemic on the epidemiology, clinical and histopathological features, pathophysiological mechanisms and clinical management of COVID-19 associated cutaneous manifestations.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION A new entity, which occurs a few weeks after SARS-CoV-2 infection and resembling incomplete Kawasaki disease or toxic shock syndrome, has been defined and named multisystem inflammatory syndrome (MIS-C) associated with COVID-19 in children. The aim of our study was to describe histopathological characteristics of skin lesions of MIS-C patients to reveal whether there is a relationship between histopathological features and clinical manifestations. MATERIALS AND METHODS Seventeen who had skin involvement of 57 patients who were diagnosed with MIS-C between December 2020 and February 2021 were included in this prospective study. Demographic information, laboratory findings, and patients' managements were recorded. Skin biopsies were taken simultaneously of each patient. Formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded skin samples were examined microscopically. RESULTS The rate of skin rash was 30% in patients with MIS-C and was predominantly the maculopapular type. The anatomical distribution of the rash was evaluated as localized in 10 and generalized in 7 patients. In patients with myocarditis, C-reactive protein and fibrinogen were found to be significantly higher, and lymphocyte and albumin values were found to be low. Herpes-like inclusions were found in the microscopic examination of 2 patients with a history of zona zoster in themselves or in their mother. There was a significant difference between keratinocyte necrosis and some clinical parameters. DISCUSSION Localized skin lesions appear to be associated with a more severe inflammatory.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Many peculiar skin changes have been described in relation to both coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) infection and vaccination. OBJECTIVE This paper provides an overview of these dermatologic manifestations, focusing on their dermatopathological appearances. RESULTS Most COVID-19 patients develop variegated maculopapular eruptions with a combination of histological patterns commonly including keratinocyte apoptosis and eosinophilia. Urticaria-like lesions often show a combination of spongiotic and lichenoid patterns and are more frequent in individuals with severe disease. Vesicular lesions can be disseminated; in some cases, they become pustular and in others show dyskeratosis and a peculiar form of ballooning. Some patients develop vesicular Grover disease on the trunk. Young patients with a strong immunological response can eliminate the virus easily but may develop chilblains as a consequence of the high interferon response. Conversely, older individuals with immunosenescence and a tendency toward hypercoagulability can present livedoid and ischemic areas. Regarding COVID-19 vaccination, hypersensitivity reactions are most frequent, including "COVID-arm." Nonetheless, a combination of local and systemic cutaneous manifestations (reactogenicity) is commonly seen. Histopathologically, lichenoid and spongiotic changes and a variable number of eosinophils are typical of rashes characterized by papules and plaques. Other dermatological side effects of COVID-19 vaccination include lesions mimicking well-defined dermatoses such as lichen planus or bullous pemphigoid and triggering of collagenous diseases. CONCLUSION Well-characterized skin manifestations of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) include chilblains, livedo necrotic lesions, vesicular eruptions, urticarial lesions, and maculopapular eruptions. Hypersensitivity reactions are common after SARS-CoV‑2 mRNA vaccination. Vaccine reactions may also mimic other dermatosis such as bullous pemphigoid or lichen planus, stimulate herpes reactivation, or trigger the development of autoimmune diseases.

Abstract
The current coronavirus disease 2019 pandemic has exceeded any epidemiologic prevision, but increasing information suggests some analogies with the major viral outbreaks in the last century, and a general warning has been issued on the possibility that coinfections can make the differential diagnosis and treatment difficult, especially in tropical countries. Some reports have noted that the presence of high dengue antibodies can give a false-negative result when testing for severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2. Mucocutaneous manifestations are very frequent, with an apparent overlap among different pathogens. However, strong clinicopathologic correlation might provide some clues to address differentials. Waiting for laboratory and instrumental results, the timing and distribution of skin lesions is often pathognomonic. Histopathologic findings characterize certain reaction patterns and provide insights on pathogenetic mechanisms. Unfortunately, skin assessment, especially invasive examinations such as biopsy, takes a back seat in severely ill patients. A literature retrieval was performed to collect information from other epidemics to counteract what has become the most frightening disease of our time.

Abstract
PURPOSE OF REVIEW This review examines the global literature regarding rashes encountered in children and adults infected with severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) and aims to provide practicing pediatricians with an understanding of the relationship between instances of rashes and coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in children in order to effectively evaluate and treat patients. RECENT FINDINGS The true incidence of cutaneous reactions in children infected with SARS-CoV-2 is not known. Children's immune systems differ from those of adults and rashes as a manifestation of immune responses, in turn, differ in morphology and distribution. Rarely, children develop a severe multisystem inflammatory syndrome that has overlapping clinical features with Kawasaki disease. In addition, vaccinations produce rashes similar to natural infections. The rashes associated with COVID-19 vaccination are mild and transient, and should not preclude vaccination. Lastly, children who chronically wear masks are more likely to experience flaring of acne around the nose and mouth ('maskne') and facial conditions such as seborrheic dermatitis. SUMMARY There are ongoing worldwide registries, clinical and basic science studies to better understand the burden of skin disease and pathophysiology of rashes seen in patients infected with COVID-19. Robust vaccination programs should be encouraged as a way to contain viral spread among children and the greater population.

Abstract
COVID‐19‐associated cutaneous manifestations are one of the most important and relatively common extra‐respiratory presentations of SARS‐COV‐2 infection. The exact identification and classification of these lesions can facilitate the accurate diagnosis and treatment. There are several case reports and small case series which describe cutaneous lesions in hands and feet. Currently, there is no scoping review about acral skin manifestations associated with COVID‐19. This paper covers the COVID‐related acral skin manifestations in 10 entities including acral papulo‐vesicular eruption, acral urticarial lesion, acral non‐inflammatory purpura and necrosis, acro‐ischemia associated COVID‐19, acral vasculitis, chilblain‐like lesion (COVID Toe), acral erythema multiform (EM) like lesion, hand and foot skin lesions associated with multisystem inflammatory syndrome in children (MISC), acral peeling conditions and red half‐moon nail sign. Future studies should focus on exact investigation of etiologies of these lesions including role of immune senescence, environment, gender, immunogenetics and relation of these lesion with major organ involvements.

Abstract
Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2) has become a significant health problem globally. The virus has spread widely and become a global pandemic. The pathophysiology for SARS-CoV-2 has not been explained clearly. It has been associated with several multiorgan symptoms, among which its dermatological manifestations are of great interest. Primarily, there has been no report of skin features among COVID-19 patients. Nevertheless, recently there have been several reports regarding COVID-19 patients who presented with cutaneous manifestations. In the current review, we focus on the various cutaneous manifestations of COVID-19 infection.

Abstract
Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), an emergent disease caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), has rapidly spread throughout the globe since its discovery in December 2019. Although first appreciated to cause pneumonia, numerous organ systems are now known to be involved. The objective of this article is to review the broad spectrum of cutaneous manifestations reported in association with SARS-CoV-2 infection. The most commonly reported cutaneous manifestations associated with COVID-19 infection include pernio (chilblain)-like acral lesions, morbilliform (exanthematous) rash, urticaria, vesicular (varicella-like) eruptions, and vaso-occlusive lesions (livedo racemosa, retiform purpura). It is important to consider SARS-CoV-2 infection in the differential diagnosis of a patient presenting with these lesions in the appropriate clinical context, as cutaneous manifestations may be present in otherwise asymptomatic individuals, or present before developing other symptoms of infection. With increased access to diagnostic testing, we are beginning to understand the utility and limitations of currently available assays.

Abstract
Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is a multisystem disease caused by Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), that primarily causes respiratory symptoms. However, an increasing number of cutaneous manifestations associated with this disease have been reported. The aim of this study is to analyze the scientific literature on cutaneous manifestations associated with SARS-CoV-2 by means of a narrative literature review until June 2021. The search was conducted in the following electronic databases: Medline (PubMed), SciELO, and Cochrane Library Plus. The most common cutaneous manifestations in patients with COVID-19 are vesicular eruptions, petechial/purpuric rashes, acral lesions, liveoid lesions, urticarial rash, and maculopapular-erythematous rash. These manifestations may be the first presenting symptoms of SARS-CoV-2 infection, as is the case with acral lesions, vesicular eruptions, and urticaria. In relation to severity, the presence of liveoid lesions may be associated with a more severe course of the disease. Treatment used for dermatological lesions includes therapy with anticoagulants, corticosteroids, and antihistamines. Knowledge of the dermatologic manifestations associated with SARS-CoV-2 contributes to the diagnosis of COVID-19 in patients with skin lesions associated with respiratory symptoms or in asymptomatic patients. In addition, understanding the dermatologic lesions associated with COVID-19 could be useful to establish a personalized care plan.

La enfermedad por coronavirus de 2019 (COVID-19) es una situación sanitaria emergente causada por el «síndrome respiratorio agudo severo por coronavirus 2» (SARS-CoV-2). La pandemia por COVID-19 en curso, que surgió de la ciudad china de Wuhan en diciembre de 2019, se ha propagado en 188 países, y ha infectado a más de 100 millones de personas a nivel mundial a lo largo de un año. Los síntomas más comunes de la COVID-19 incluyen fiebre y enfermedad respiratoria. Entre los signos extrapulmonares asociados a COVID-19 se han reportado cada vez más manifestaciones dermatológicas en las diferentes regiones geográficas. La incidencia o prevalencia exactas de las manifestaciones cutáneas asociadas a la COVID-19 son bastante desconocidas, y los mecanismos patofisiológicos siguen sin dilucidarse. En este artículo hemos tratado de aportar una visión general amplia de lo que hemos aprendido en un año de inmersión en la pandemia en cuanto a epidemiología y características clínicas e histopatológicas, mecanismos patofisiológicos y manejo clínico de las manifestaciones cutáneas asociadas a la COVID-19.

Abstract
The current coronavirus disease 2019 pandemic has exceeded any epidemiologic prevision, but increasing information suggests some analogies with the major viral outbreaks of the last century. A general warning has been issued on the possibility that coinfections can make differential diagnosis and treatment difficult, especially in tropical countries. Some reports have pointed out that the presence of high Dengue antibodies can give a false-negative result for severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2. Mucocutaneous manifestations are very frequent, with an apparent overlap among different pathogens. A strong clinicopathologic correlation, however, may provide some clues to address the differential. Waiting for laboratory and instrumental results, the timing and distribution of skin lesions is often pathognomonic. Histopathologic findings characterize certain reaction patterns and provide insights on pathogenetic mechanisms. Unfortunately, skin assessments, especially invasive exams such as biopsy, are less important in severely ill patients. A literature review was performed to collect information from other epidemics to counteract what has become the most frightening disease of our time.

Abstract
Background Cutaneous reactions after COVID-19 vaccination have been commonly reported; however, histopathologic features and clinical correlations have not been well characterized. Methods We evaluated for a history of skin biopsy all reports of reactions associated with COVID-19 vaccination identified in an international registry. When histopathology reports were available, we categorized them by reaction patterns. Results Of 803 vaccine reactions reported, 58 (7%) cases had biopsy reports available for review. The most common histopathologic reaction pattern was spongiotic dermatitis, which clinically ranged from robust papules with overlying crust, to pityriasis rosea-like eruptions, to pink papules with fine scale. We propose the acronym “V-REPP” (vaccine-related eruption of papules and plaques) for this spectrum. Other clinical patterns included bullous pemphigoid-like (n = 12), dermal hypersensitivity (n = 4), herpes zoster (n = 4), lichen planus-like (n = 4), pernio (n = 3), urticarial (n = 2), neutrophilic dermatosis (n = 2), leukocytoclastic vasculitis (n = 2), morbilliform (n = 2), delayed large local reactions (n = 2), erythromelalgia (n = 1), and other (n = 5). Limitations Cases in which histopathology was available represented a minority of registry entries. Analysis of registry data cannot measure incidence. Conclusion Clinical and histopathologic correlation allowed for categorization of cutaneous reactions to the COVID-19 vaccine. We propose defining a subset of vaccine-related eruption of papules and plaques, as well as 12 other patterns, following COVID-19 vaccination.

Abstract
An increasing body of evidence has been produced in a very limited period to improve the understanding of skin involvement in the current coronavirus 2019 disease pandemic, and how this novel disease affects the management of dermatologic patients. A little explored area is represented by the therapeutic approach adopted for the different skin manifestations associated with the infection. An overview of the current scenario is provided, through review of the English-language literature published until October 30, 2020, and comparison with the personal experience of the authors. As dermatologists, our primary aim is to support patients with the highest standard of care and relieve suffering, even with lesions not life-threatening. With asymptomatic COVID-19 patients, patient discomfort related to skin lesions should not be undervalued and intervention to accelerate healing should be provided. Consensus protocols are warranted to assess the best skin-targeted treatments in COVID-19 patients.

Abstract
The incidence of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19)-related skin manifestations has progressively grown, in parallel with the global severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) spreading. The available evidence indicates that cutaneous signs are heterogeneous and can be divided as follows: a) erythematous rashes, b) lesions of vascular origin, c) vesicular rashes, d) urticarial rashes, and e) acute generalized exanthematous pustulosis (AGEP), erythema multiforme (EM) and other polymorphic/atypical reactions. Most cutaneous manifestations appear simultaneously or after respiratory and/or systemic symptoms such as fever, even if rarely urticaria has been reported as the first sign of the disease. It has been proposed that erythematous and vesicular rashes, as well as urticaria, are the result of immunological activation against Sars-CoV-2, similarly to other viral exanthems; alternatively, reactivation or co-infection of herpesviruses and drug hypersensitivity represent possible etiologic diagnosis that has to be considered. Regarding lesions of vascular origin, ischemic ones are the result of systemic hypercoagulability established in severe infections, whereas chilblains seem to be linked to the type I-interferon massively produced to halt virus replication. AGEP is triggered by drugs, whereas EM could represent a delayed immune response to the virus or a hypersensitivity reaction to drugs elicited by the inflammatory process built to fight the infection. A further pathogenic hypothesis is that the virus, or its particles detected in the skin (particularly in endothelium and eccrine glands), could be responsible for certain skin reactions, including chilblains and EM. From the available data, it appears that chilblains are correlated with younger age and less severe disease, while ischemic manifestations occur in the elderly with severe infection. In conclusion, larger studies are needed to confirm the suggested pathogenetic mechanisms of COVID-19-related skin reactions and to determine the potential prognostic significance of each one.

Abstract
Introduction: As the novel coronavirus pandemic continues to affect people worldwide, immune-mediated inflammatory syndromes related to this virus have been reported. SARS Coronavirus-2 infection disease (COVID-19) may accompany various cutaneous symptoms, such as viral exanthems or wheels. These symptoms may occur at the early course of the disease or after that. Cutaneous symptoms of COVID-19 usually have a favorable outcome. Case Presentation: We presented a rare case of inpatient COVID-19 pneumonia, who developed a purpuric rash, abdominal pain, and hematuria. His dermal histopathological study revealed small-vessel vasculitis. We diagnosed Henoch–Schoenlein purpura based on clinical and histopathological findings and treated him with intravenous dexamethasone followed by oral prednisolone. The purpuric rashes disappeared in two weeks. Conclusions: Cutaneous manifestation of COVID-19 is usually diffuse maculopapular rashes. Other presentations include vesicular rashes and acral cyanosis. Dermal histopathological study in most patients with COVID-19 who developed cutaneous symptoms revealed perivascular inflammation and microthrombus in some cases. Thus, COVID-19 should be considered in any patient with a new onset of cutaneous symptoms.

Abstract
Introduction In December 2019, a new coronavirus has emerged out of China, the SARS‐CoV‐2 virus, causing a disease known as COVID‐19, which steadily has progressed into a pandemic. This coronavirus affects many organs, including the skin, whose manifestations are a consequence of the disease itself, as well as the preventative measures taken to avoid the infection. This paper reviews the cutaneous manifestations which currently have been encountered during this pandemic. Methods A search was conducted on PubMed, and all relevant articles were included. Results The results show the occurrence of many cutaneous findings, ranging from those related to the infection itself and to various dermatitides related to the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) utilized by healthcare workers while attending to infected patients. Discussion Recognizing these findings is important for the accurate diagnosis of those infected with COVID‐19 as well as the prompt treatment of the side effects caused by PPE that might further impair the effectiveness of healthcare workers.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Infection with COVID-19 is characterized by respiratory, gastrointestinal and neurologic symptoms. However, limited evidence exists of the involvement of the integumentary system among COVID-19 patients and evidence suggests that these symptoms may even be the first presenting sign. OBJECTIVE To systematically evaluate the literature published on dermatologic signs of COVID-19 in order to educate doctors about the dermatologic signs of COVID-19 infection. METHODS Lit COVID, World Health Organization COVID-19 database and PubMed were searched using terminology to identify adult patients with confirmed COVID-19 infection and dermatologic manifestations of disease. The last search was completed on 13 July 2020. RESULTS There were 802 reports found. After exclusion, 20 articles were found with 347 patients with confirmed COVID-19 infection. Within these articles, 27 different skin signs were reported. LIMITATIONS Limitations of this review include the recency of COVID-19 infection; so, there are limited published reports and that many reports are not by dermatologists, and so, the cutaneous signs may be misdiagnosed or misdescribed. CONCLUSION Dermatologic manifestations of COVID-19 may be the first presenting sign of infection; so, dermatologists and doctors examining the skin should be aware of the virus's influence on the integumentary system in order to promptly diagnose and treat the infected patients.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Distinct skin lesions associated with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) have been described, but data regarding their time of onset during the COVID-19 course are scant. Our objective was to systematically review the studies reporting the time of onset of selected skin lesions with respect to the reported onset of the COVID-19 core symptoms. METHODS A comprehensive search of studies published before 21 January 2021 was performed on MEDLINE via PubMed database using a predefined strategy to identify relevant articles. RESULTS Out of 354 references, 87 were selected, reporting a total of 895 patients with skin lesions associated with COVID-19. The most frequent pattern was exanthema (n = 430, 48%), followed by vascular (n = 299, 33%), urticarial (n = 105, 12%) and others (n = 66, 7%). Skin lesions occurred more frequently in the first 4 weeks from the COVID-19 onset (n = 831, 92%), whereas prodromal or late lesions were rarer (n = 69, 8%). The urticarial and exanthema patterns were more frequent in the first 2 weeks. About the vascular pattern some differences were noted among its subtypes. Livedoid lesions occurred mainly in the first 2 weeks, while chilblain-like lesions between weeks 2 and 4. Purpuric/petechial lesions were equally distributed during the first 4 weeks. Several skin manifestations did not fall into the pattern classification, including erythema multiforme, generalized pruritus, Kawasaki disease and others. CONCLUSION The diversity in the time of onset of skin lesions as well as their polymorphic nature likely reflects the diversity of the pathogenetic underlying mechanisms. Abstract
Cutaneous involvement can be an important sign of both COVID‐19 and rickettsioses. Rickettsial infections may be first evident as an exanthem with eschars as a key finding. In contrast, eschars and necrotic lesions can be seen in critically ill COVID‐19 patients. Both illnesses share a similar mechanism of infecting endothelial cells resulting in vasculopathy. Rickettsia parkeri and Rickettsia 364D are both characterized by eschars unlike Rickettsia rickettsii. Other eschar causing rickettsioses such as Rickettsia conorii, Rickettsia africae, and Orientia tsutsugamushi are commonly diagnosed in people from or having traveled through endemic areas. While there is no consensus on treatment for COVID‐19, rickettsioses are treatable. Due to possibly serious consequences of delayed treatment, doxycycline should be administered given an eschar‐presenting patient's travel history and sufficient suspicion of vector exposure. The proliferation of COVID‐19 cases has rendered it critical to differentiate between the two, both of which may have overlapping vasculopathic cutaneous findings. We review these diseases, emphasizing the importance of cutaneous involvement, while also discussing possible therapeutic interventions.

Abstract
The pathogenic mechanism of SARS-CoV-2 infection is unclear, and its symptoms vary in different patients. Initial reports of COVID-19 concentrated on pulmonary issues, but with time, additional features such as hyposmia/anosmia, dysgeusia, and skin lesions were added to the list of COVID-19 symptoms. There have been an increasing number of reports on oral cavity lesions in individuals with COVID-19, which might be relevant considering that this location is one of the first sites coming into contact with the virus and that it contains the SARS-CoV-2 receptor. We hereby aim to familiarize practicing head and neck clinicians with the range of oral lesions reported in COVID-19 patients and to critically appraise the most recent data on the role of SARS-CoV-2 in these lesions. We also discuss the ongoing debate on the direct/indirect association of oral symptoms with the disease. COVID-19 cases with simultaneous oral symptoms were extracted from the literature, and articles discussing the role of SARS-CoV-2 in oral lesions were compiled and methodically analyzed. We found approximately 95 COVID-19 patients with a wide range of oral lesions. Based on current evidence, the exact role of SARS-CoV-2 in the development of oral lesions remains unclear. Oral examination of patients is needed to provide adequate cases for analysis to clarify unknown problems related to COVID-19. There is evidence to support both the direct and indirect roles of SARS-CoV-2 in the development of oral lesions. Awareness of the possibility of oral manifestations in COVID-19 is important to clarify the range of disease signs and symptoms.

Abstract
The severe acute respiratory syndrome corona virus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) causing the 2019 coronavirus disease (COVID-19) has infected millions in recent years and is a major public health concern. Various cutaneous manifestations of the COVID-19 disease have been identified. Skin is a mirror to internal disease and can be the presenting sign of COVID-19 disease. Several cutaneous manifestations can indicate severe COVID-19 disease. In the present scenario, physicians should know the various cutaneous manifestations of COVID-19 disease for early diagnosis and proper management of the disease.

Abstract
In the last few months, there have been numerous reports describing a variety of cutaneous signs associated with COVID-19. Clinicians from Italy were the first to describe the cutaneous manifestations of COVID-19, which were later observed in other parts of the globe. In some cases, cutaneous signs were the only manifestation of COVID-19 rather than the typical syndrome of fever and upper respiratory tract symptoms. However, there is considerable heterogeneity amongst the cutaneous signs described so far, which has been published extensively. Our aim is to summarise the latest studies that have reported the early and late cutaneous signs of COVID-19 and compare them to the most common established viral exanthems.

Abstract
SARS-CoV-2 has recently been associated with the reactivation of varicella zoster virus in patients. This is potentially an observation of a local susceptibility of the skin in areas of vesicle formation. This article explores the dermatologic manifestations that have been linked to the SARS-CoV-2 virus, their infectious risk, as well as potential confounding factors. An isotopic response may be occurring due to the occurrence of an immunocompromised district incited by sustained inflammation mediated by inflammatory cytokines.

Abstract
COVID-19 is caused by SARS-CoV-2 infection. Epithelial and T, NK, and other immunocytes release bioactive lipids especially arachidonic acid (AA) in response to microbial infections to inactivate them and upregulate the immune system. COVID-19 (coronavirus) and other enveloped viruses including severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS-CoV-1 of 2002-2003) and Middle East respiratory syndrome (MERS; 2012-ongoing) and hepatitis B and C (HBV and HCV) can be inactivated by AA, γ-linolenic acid (GLA, dihomo-GLA (DGLA), eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA), docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), which are precursors to several eicosanoids. Prostaglandin E1, lipoxin A4, resolvins, protectins and maresins enhance phagocytosis of macrophages and leukocytes to clear debris from the site(s) of infection and injury, enhance microbial clearance and wound healing to restore homeostasis. Bioactive lipids modulate the generation of M1 and M2 macrophages and the activity of other immunocytes. Mesenchymal and adipose tissue-derived stem cells secrete LXA4 and other bioactive lipids to bring about their beneficial actions in COVID-19. Bioactive lipids regulate vasomotor tone, inflammation, thrombosis, immune response, inactivate enveloped viruses, regulate T cell proliferation and secretion of cytokines, stem cell survival, proliferation and differentiation, and leukocyte and macrophage functions, JAK kinase activity and neutrophil extracellular traps and thus, have a critical role in COVID-19.

Abstract
A novel severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) outbreak has become a global ongoing pandemic. This pandemic represents a great work risk for all health professionals, it includes dental professionals who are in constant contact with saliva, which represents one of the main routes of transmission of the disease. This is due to the fact that a wide variety of oral tissues and cells are susceptible to infection by SARS-CoV-2 and that they express the ACE2 receptor, which is the main route of entry of the virus into cells, as well as the proteins TMPRSS and furin that contributes to the binding of the virus to the host cells. According to recent studies, some of the oral cells most susceptible to infection by SARS-CoV-2 are the epithelial cells of the salivary glands. This explains the presence of the virus in the saliva of infected patients and provides scientific evidence that supports the use of saliva as a biofluid that offers the opportunity to develop new detection and diagnostic techniques. This is because saliva is much easier to collect compared to nasopharyngeal swab. However, the presence of the virus in saliva, also represents a great source of transmission, since the main form of infection is through microscopic drops that are generated when infected people cough or sneeze. Likewise, health professionals, such as dentists are exposed to contagion through saliva. The objective of this review article is to provide a perspective on the main cells and tissues that can be affected by the virus, the risk of contagion that the presence of the virus in saliva represents for dentists; and the new techniques developed from saliva samples for the diagnosis and surveillance of SARS-CoV-2 infection. This review is expected to contribute to the knowledge of oral health professionals about the risk of saliva in the spread of SARS-CoV-2, but also its advantages as a diagnostic tool for pandemic control. In conclusion, the authors can mention that information that provides more scientific evidence of the mechanisms of infection of the coronavirus in oral cells and tissues is being published continually. This also explains the presence of the virus in the saliva of infected people and the risk of contagion that this means. It also provides scientific evidence of the use of saliva as a biofluid for the detection, diagnosis, monitoring, and control of the spread of the virus.
