Abstract
Chemotherapy can negatively affect cancer patients' eating patterns, psychological status, body composition, and quality of life. In this study, we aimed to investigate the correlations between dietary intake/care and the psychological status of cancer patients treated with chemotherapy. An observational study was conducted on 75 participants during their first cycle of chemotherapy treatment, and they were followed up for three cycles. Each participant completed a reliable validated questionnaire, psychological questionnaire, quality of life questionnaire, and three-day food records. Dietary intake was considered adequate if there was an adherence of participants to dietary recommendations offered by the dietitian and was confirmed by ESHA analysis software (version 10.6.3). Seventy-five percent of participants had inadequate nutrition intake. All anthropometric measurements decreased after 2 months of chemotherapy regardless of patients' dietary intake. Approximately half of the participants reported depression and anxiety. There were significant differences between all nutrient intake levels when compared to the recommended dietary allowance except for fat, unsaturated fatty acids, and iron. Also, there were associations between nutritional intake and life quality and depression. In conclusion, poor dietary intake was associated with depression and insufficient macro- and micronutrient intake. Emotional and nutritional support from healthcare providers and family are highly necessary.

Abstract
The aim of this study is to evaluate the effect of intensive nutrition support on patients with tongue cancer and floor of mouth cancer after surgery at K Hospital, Tan Trieu campus. Study the clinical intervention with a control group. We conducted the intensive nutrition intervention for our patients by giving counseling materials, sample menu and nutritional supplements, while the control group had only advice about dietary regimens. We evaluated a group before and after the intervention, at the same time compare the two groups before and after the intervention. After 1 mo, the intervention group increased 0.51±1.43 kg in comparison with their weight at the beginning; the weight of the control group lost -0.59±2.33 kg; the difference had statistical significance (p=0.025). After 1 and 2 mo of intervention, the rates of the participants without risk of malnutrition in the intervention group increased significantly in comparison with that in the control group; the difference has statistical significance with p=0.001 and p=0.003. In terms of quality of life, patients' problems related to areas including health status, functioning, symptoms of the intervention group improved more greatly than those of the control group. Especially, anorexia symptoms and financial impact were improved well in the intervention group (p=0.033, p=0.018). Nutrition intervention in patients with tongue cancer and floor of mouth cancer has shown a beneficial effect of nutrition counseling and intervention to improve patients' status in terms of nutrition and their quality of life.

Abstract
PURPOSE This study aimed at assessing the effect of chemotherapy on dietary intake and nutritional status of patients with colorectal cancer undergoing chemotherapy. METHODS Observational, cross-sectional study conducted with 35 patients of both sexes, aged 50 years or older. Dietary intake was assessed four times: before (T0), twice during (T1 and T2), and after (TF) chemotherapy. Data on energy, macronutrients, and micronutrients were used for assessing dietary intake. Nutritional status was assessed on the first day and at the end of the chemotherapy cycle. The data were treated statistically using a 5% significance level. RESULTS The intake of energy, carbohydrates, lipids, selenium, and iron was lower after chemotherapy infusion (p < 0.05). Energy consumption decreased when comparing T0 (1419.8 ± 527.1 kcal) with T1 (1181.9 ± 423.2 kcal). Regarding macronutrients, carbohydrates and lipids showed a drop (p < 0.05), but there were no differences in protein intake, and it was observed that the consumption of food sources such as dairy was prioritized. In the analysis of vitamins and minerals, vitamins dropped but without a significant difference. There were significant differences between T1 and TF for iron (9.7 mg ± 4.5 mg and 12.0 ± 4.0 mg) and selenium (77.4 ± 29.7 µg and 93.6 ± 37.8 µg). There was no change in body composition and nutritional status between chemotherapy cycles. CONCLUSION The treatment reduced patients' food consumption after the chemotherapy session and impacted dietary intake, which demonstrates the importance of nutritional counseling and intervention, especially on energy consumption.

Abstract
Background: With improved long-term health outcomes and survivorship, the long-term nutritional management of childhood cancer survivors, from diagnosis to long-term follow-up, has become a priority. The aim of this study was to examine the diet quality of children receiving treatment for cancer. Methods: Participants were parents of children with cancer who were receiving active treatment and not receiving supplementary nutrition. A 24-h dietary recall assessed food and nutrient intake. Serves of food group intakes and classification of core and discretionary items were made according to the Australian Dietary Guidelines and compared with age and sex recommendations. Results: Sixty-four parents participated (75% female). Most children were not consuming adequate intake of vegetables (94% of patients), fruit (77%), and milk/alternatives (75%). Of the vegetables that were consumed, half were classified as discretionary foods (e.g., chips/fries). Nearly half (49%) of children exceeded recommendations for total sugar intake and 65% of patients had an excessive sodium intake. Discussion: Children receiving cancer treatment are consuming diets of reasonable quantity, but poor quality. Information provided during treatment should focus on educating parents on a healthy diet for their child, the importance of establishing healthy eating habits for life, and strategies to overcome barriers to intake during treatment.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE Assess the impact of the antifermentative diet on the dietary intake and body composition of elderly prostate cancer patients in radiotherapy. METHODS Observational and prospective study involving 45 men aged 60 years or older, receiving radiotherapy for prostate cancer treatment. The dietary intake was assessed at four times during radiotherapy: onset (TPre), between the 11th and 16th day (T1), between the 24th and 28th day (T2), and on the last day (TLast). The body composition was assessed before and on the last day of radiotherapy, by means of the body weight and height, mid-arm circumference, triceps and subscapular skin folds, phase angle, resistance, and reactance. The data were statistically treated, considering a 5% significance level. RESULTS The intake of energy, dietary fibers, and some nutrients decreased during the radiotherapy (p < 0.05). The intake of vitamins E, B1, B2, and folate, of the minerals calcium, magnesium, potassium, sodium, and phosphorus, and of the amino acid leucine dropped when the four assessment times were compared (p < 0.05). As regards the body composition, an impact was observed at the end of the radiotherapy, with lower body weight, arm circumference, subscapular cutaneous fold, phase angle and reactance (p < 0.05). CONCLUSION The antifermentative diet negatively influenced the food consumption and body composition of elderly patients submitted to radiotherapy for prostate cancer.

Abstract
BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE Treatment with oral antineoplastic agents known as tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs) is new and, thus, little is known about their impact on nutritional status (NS), dietary intake, quality of life, and survival. The aim of this study was to provide information on these components in order to guide future nutritional recommendations. PATIENTS AND METHOD A prospective, observational study in adults who start treatment with TKIs, in whom NS was assessed using the Patient-Generated Subjective Global Assessment (PG-SGA), anthropometric measures, biochemical parameters, and dietary intake (24-hour dietary recall). The EORTC QLQ-C30 was used to assess quality of life. Nonparametric tests were used in statistical analysis, and survival was analyzed using Kaplan-Meier and log-rank curves. RESULTS Of the overall sample, 21.7% had moderate malnutrition according to PG-SGA, and 74.2% moderate weight loss at 6 months, but no patient had BMI<18.5kg/m2. Patients with moderate malnutrition had lower survival at four years of diagnosis (log-rank=0.015). Energy intake was lower than recommended by the ESPEN 2017 congress, and no patient covered the protein requirements (1.5g protein/kg weight) during follow-up. A worse score on the global health scale of the EORTC QLQ-C30 was related to worse NS. CONCLUSIONS Treatment with TKIs does not appear to have a significant impact on NS and quality of life after 6 months of follow-up. Malnutrition should be prevented through individualized nutritional advice because it is related to shorter survival.

Abstract
Cancer-related fatigue (CRF) is a debilitating syndrome that persists for many cancer survivors for years after treatment. Symptoms include early and persistent fatigue, functional decline, depression, and cognitive difficulties. Inflammation, assessed using pro-inflammatory biomarkers, is increased in cancer survivors with fatigue and treatments for fatigue are often aimed at reducing inflammation. Additionally, cancer and its treatment lead to nutritional complications, changes in body composition, and nutritional deficiencies that potentially weaken the cancer survivor and impact CRF. We conducted a qualitative review of clinical trials that assessed nutritional interventions for preventing and treating CRF. Further studies were examined that used nutritional interventions to address inflammation and fatigue, due to the dearth of nutrition research directly related to CRF. Dietary intake prior to, during, and after cancer treatment appears to affect fatigue levels. Increased protein intake may help preserve lean mass and body composition. Dietary patterns that reduce inflammation, such as the Mediterranean diet and other plant-based diets, appear tolerable to cancer survivors and may reduce fatigue. Supplementation with ginseng, ginger, or probiotics may improve cancer survivors' energy levels. Nutritional interventions, alone or in combination with other interventions should be considered as therapy for fatigue in cancer survivors.

Abstract
To evaluate nutritional status in adult patients with acute leukemia (AL) using patient-generated subjective global assessment (PG-SGA) and to investigate the influence of nutritional status on prognosis.We observationally investigated 68 adult patients with newly diagnosed AL who received PG-SGA at the First Hospital of Jilin University between May 2013 and July 2015. Clinical features, chemotherapy regimens, biochemical indexes, body composition, complete remission (CR) rate, minimal residual disease (MRD), survival time, and side-effects of chemotherapy were compared between patients with and without severe malnutrition.Mean PG-SGA scores of the total patients were 6.1 ± 4.0, and 19 of 68 (27.9%) patients had severe malnutrition (PG-SGA score ≥9). Patients with acute myeloid leukemia (AML) had higher scores than those with acute lymphocytic leukemia (ALL; P = .011) and high-risk patients had higher scores regardless of whether they had AML or ALL (AML, P = .012; ALL, P = .043). Univariate analysis showed that severe malnutrition was correlated with age (P = .041), transferrin (P = .042), Karnofsky Performance Status score (P = .006), and C-reactive protein (CRP) (P = .018). Multivariate analysis demonstrated that severe malnutrition was associated with CRP (hazard ratio [HR] = 1.020, 95% confidence interval [CI]: 1.002-1.039, P = .026). No difference was found in CR rate (P = .831) between patients with and without malnutrition, but those who were severely malnourished had higher MRD (P = .048 in AML patients, P = .036 in ALL patients) and more gastrointestinal side-effects (P = .014). Severe malnutrition was also associated with inferior overall survival (HR = 0.243, 95% CI: 0.063-0.945, P = .041) but not with event-free survival (HR = 0.808, 95% CI: 0.338-1.934, P = .663).Severe malnutrition defined by PG-SGA in adult patients with de novo AL may result in poor outcome.

Abstract
PURPOSE This study was conducted to evaluate the dietary intake at different time points of the chemotherapeutic cycle. METHODS Fifty-five ovarian cancer patients receiving at least 2 cycles of chemotherapy were deemed eligible for this study, of which 41 participants completed the study. Anthropometrical measurements and Subjective Global Assessment were used to estimate nutritional status. The dietary intake was evaluated by 3-day food records: 3 days prior to, the day of, and the following day after chemotherapy. RESULTS Mean energy intake was the lowest on the day of chemotherapy and the highest 3 days before treatment (mean difference, 413.8 kcal; p < 0.001). Similarly, some vitamins and macro- and micronutrients (K, Ca, vit D, folate, vit C) failed to reach 50 % of the recommended dietary allowances. When dividing patients into BMI categories, the energy intake per kilogram of body weight, in the normal-weight patients, was statistically higher than that in overweight and obese subjects (23.6 vs. 20.9 vs. 12.3 kcal, respectively; p = 0.0015). Similarly, the statistically significant differences were observed by the intake of fats (0.80 vs. 0.69 vs. 0.39 g, p = 0.0283) and carbohydrates (3.52 vs. 3.05 vs. 1.71 g, p = 0.0004). CONCLUSIONS Dietary intake varies in the cycle of chemotherapy, with the lowest intake at the day of cytotoxic treatment and the highest before the next chemotherapy. Further studies evaluating dietary intake in patients undergoing chemotherapy should include in the protocol the exact time point of dietary assessment. The intake of energy, fats, and carbohydrates differs significantly across BMI categories.
