Abstract
INTRODUCTION The goal of the present study was to develop a short version (SV) of the Quality of Life Relevance-Acne (QOLRELEVANCE-ACNE) based on the identified most relevant items for acne patients. METHODS Members of the international internet group for acne patients were asked to fill in the short prototype version of the QOLRELEVANCE-ACNE. Internal consistency was measured using Cronbach's alpha. RESULTS The answers of 684 acne patients were collected. The analysis revealed that the internal consistency of the instrument could be improved by removing a single item. That item was removed and the final four-item short version of the QOLRELEVANCE-ACNE-SV was formed. There is minimal or no overlapping of the QOLRELEVANCE-ACNE-SV with other brief forms of acne-specific HRQoL instruments. CONCLUSION The four-item QOLRELEVANCE-ACNE-SV questionnaire was developed and showed good internal consistency. An international validation study of the QOLRELEVANCE-ACNE-SV will be performed.

Abstract
Background Participating members of the European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology Task Forces on quality of life (QoL) and Patient Oriented Outcomes and Acne, Rosacea and Hidradenitis Suppurativa initiated data collection in 9 European countries and formed the list of the most relevant topics for acne patients. Objective The aim of this study was to develop a new acne-specific health-related QoL instrument based on the list of the most relevant topics for acne patients. Methods After assessment by acne patients (n = 715) on how clear and relevant the items in the prototype questionnaire were, a group of experts on acne and QoL performed discussions on items inclusion, which resulted in a series of 21 items. Then another group of acne patients (n = 1502) filled in the new version of the instrument. A factor analysis was conducted on the 21-item version. Results Three-factor model with 19 items indicated a satisfactory fit. The three dimensions were called: Socioemotional; Symptoms; Stigma and Suicidal thoughts. Limitations Included patients and experts may not fully represent acne patients and health care professionals worldwide. Conclusion A final 19-item version of the Quality of Life Relevance-Acne was developed.

Abstract
In this study, the European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology (EADV) Task Forces on Quality of Life and Patient-Oriented Outcomes and Urticaria and Angioedema has examined the Health-Related Quality of Life (HRQoL) measurement in the treatment of urticaria. The Dermatology Life Quality Index was the most frequently used HRQoL instrument in clinical trials on urticaria. Many reports of clinical trials of urticaria gave no exact numeric results related to HRQoL changes, making clear conclusions and comparisons with other studies impossible. The interpretation of HRQoL impairment data is more difficult when assessed by instruments without severity stratification systems. The minimal clinically significant difference (MCID) is a more clinically oriented and relevant parameter than depending on statistically significant changes in HRQoL scores. Therefore, using HRQoL instruments with established MCID data in clinical trials and clinical practice is preferred.

Abstract
The European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology (EADV) Task Forces on quality of life (QoL) and patient-oriented outcomes and on urticaria and angioedema recommendations for the assessment of Health-related (HR) QoL in all patients with urticaria in research and practice are as follows: to use the DLQI for adults and the CDLQI for children as dermatology-specific and the CU-Q2oL as a disease-specific HRQoL instruments in urticaria; to use generic instruments to provide comparison of data on urticaria with non-dermatologic diseases, or to compare with healthy volunteers or the general population; to select validated HRQoL instruments with appropriate age limits; to present exact numeric data for HRQoL results; correct title of any HRQoL instrument should be used, along with its correct abbreviation and the reference to its original publication, where possible. The EADV TFs discourage the use of non-validated HRQoL instruments and modified HRQoL instruments that have not undergone standard validation.

Abstract
BACKGROUND There are few studies on bullying in skin diseases. Persons with skin diseases are especially prone to bullying. OBJECTIVES This component of the project 'Bullying among Dermatologic Patients' aimed to study the prevalence and nature of bullying in patients with skin diseases from different countries and age groups. METHODS Data were collected from participants of international social media groups for patients with skin diseases, in-patients and out-patients with skin diseases, and parents of children with skin diseases from six European countries. School and university students from Poland and Ukraine were asked to answer the question: Have you been bullied because of skin problems? RESULTS Bullying was reported in 1016 patients with 36 different skin diseases. Prevalence of self-reported and parental-reported bullying was quite heterogeneous among different countries In total, self-reported bullying was noted by 25.6% of patients with skin diseases during face-to-face consultations, by 63.7% of respondents from international patients' groups and by 12.2% of school and university students. Parental-reported bullying was detected in 34.5% of 3-4 years old children with skin diseases. The peak of bullying prevalence occurred between the ages of 13 and 15. The most prevalent forms of bullying were verbal abuse and social isolation. Physical abuse was the least often reported form of bullying. Only 33.2% of participants talked to anyone about being bullied. Negative long-term effects of bullying were reported by 63% of respondents. CONCLUSIONS Skin disease-related bullying was reported by patients in all centres of the project. The main manifestations of bullying were similar in different countries and among patients with different skin diseases. International activities aimed to decrease or prevent skin disease-related bullying in different age groups are needed. These activities should be multidirectional and target teachers, parents of classmates and classmates of children with skin diseases, patients' parents and patients themselves.

Abstract
Many events, including the COVID-19 pandemic, have accelerated the implementation of teledermatology pathways within dermatology departments and across healthcare organizations. Quality of Life (QoL) assessment in dermatology is also a rapidly developing field with a gradual shift from theory to practice. The purpose of this paper organized jointly by the European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology (EADV) Task Force (TF) on QoL and patient-oriented outcomes and the EADV TF on teledermatology is to present current knowledge about QoL assessment during the use of teledermatology approaches, including data on health-related (HR) QoL instruments used in teledermatology, comparison of influence of different treatment methods on HRQoL after face-to-face and teledermatology consultations and to make practical recommendations concerning the assessment of QoL in teledermatology. The EADV TFs made the following position statements: HRQoL assessment may be an important part in most of teledermatology activities; HRQoL assessment may be easily and effectively performed during teledermatology consultations. It is especially important to monitor HRQoL of patients with chronic skin diseases during lockdowns or in areas where it is difficult to reach a hospital for face-to-face consultation; regular assessment of HRQoL of patients with skin diseases during teledermatology consultations may help to monitor therapy efficacy and visualize individual patient's needs; we recommend the use of the DLQI in teledermatology, including the use of the DLQI app which is available in seven languages; it is important to develop apps for dermatology-specific HRQoL instruments for use in children (for example the CDLQI and InToDermQoL) and for disease-specific instruments.

BACKGROUND The Infants and Toddlers Dermatology Quality of Life (InToDermQoL) is the dermatology-specific proxy health-related quality of life (HRQoL) instrument for children from birth to 4 years. The aim of the present study was to confirm the responsiveness and establish minimal clinically important difference (MCID) for the InToDermQoL. METHODS Parents of children with skin diseases were asked to fill in the InToDermQoL at the initial visit (T1) and subsequent consultation (T2). We hypothesized that correlations between change scores of the InToDermQoL and change scores of global assessment of clinical severity by dermatologists and by patients' parents should be above 0.3. The receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves method was also used for confirmation of responsiveness and determination of MCIDs of the InToDermQoL. The area under the ROC curve (AUC) was used as an indicator of responsiveness. RESULTS Results of 442 patients were included. Correlations between change scores of age-specific versions of the InToDermQoL and change scores of global assessment of clinical severity by dermatologists and by patients' parents were above 0.3 (0.46-0.74). AUCs for age-specific versions of the InToDermQoL were acceptable (above 0.7) or excellent (above 0.8). Estimated MCIDs for the InToDermQoL were as follows: 3 points of total score change for 0-11 months, 5 for 1-2 years and 3 or 4 for 3-4 years version. Estimated MCIDs for the InToDermQoL version for 1-2-year-old children was higher than MCIDs for the 3-4-year-old version despite the higher number of items in the latter. Therefore a MCID of 5 was recommended for both these versions. CONCLUSIONS Responsiveness for all age-specific versions of the InToDermQoL questionnaire was confirmed. MCIDs for the InToDermQoL are proposed as follows: 3-point change of the total score for age version 0-11 months and 5-point for the age versions 1-2 years and 3-4 years.

Abstract
The European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology (EADV) Task Forces (TFs) on Quality of Life (QoL) and Patient-Oriented Outcomes and Acne, Rosacea and Hidradenitis Suppurativa (ARHS) do not recommend the use of any generic instrument as a single method of Health Related (HR) QoL assessment in rosacea, except when comparing quimp (quality of life impairment) in rosacea patients with that in other non-dermatologic skin diseases and/or healthy controls. The EADV TFs on QoL and Patient-Oriented Outcomes and ARHS recommend the use of the dermatology-specific HRQoL instrument the Dermatology Life Quality Index (DLQI) and the rosacea-specific HRQoL instrument RosaQoL in rosacea patients. The DLQI minimal clinically important difference may be used as a marker of clinical efficacy of the treatment and DLQI score banding of 0 or 1 corresponding to no effect on patients' HRQoL could be an important treatment goal. This information may be added to consensuses and guidelines for rosacea.

Abstract
Members of the European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology (EADV) Task Force on Quality of Life (QoL) and Patient Oriented Outcomes reviewed the instruments available for health-related (HR) QoL assessment in vitiligo and together with external vitiligo experts (including representatives of the EADV Vitiligo Task Force) have made practical recommendations concerning the assessment of QoL in vitiligo patients. The Dermatology Life Quality Index (DLQI) was the most frequently used HRQoL instrument, making comparison of results between different countries possible. Several vitiligo-specific instruments were identified. The vitiligo Impact Scale (VIS) is an extensively validated vitiligo-specific HRQoL instrument with proposed minimal important change and clinical interpretation for VIS-22 scores. VIS-22 was developed for use in India, where there are some specific cultural beliefs concerning vitiligo. The EADV Task Force on QoL and Patient Oriented Outcomes recommends use of the DLQI and the Children's Dermatology Life Quality Index (CDLQI) as dermatology-specific instruments in vitiligo. There is a strong need for a valid (including cross-cultural validation) vitiligo-specific instrument that can be either a new instrument or the improvement of existing instruments. This validation must include the proof of responsiveness.

Abstract
Background The Infants and Toddlers Dermatology Quality of Life (InToDermQoL) questionnaire is the first dermatology-specific proxy health related QoL instrument for children from birth to 4 years. Score meaning bands and the sensitivity to successful therapeutic intervention are important to interpret the clinical meaning of an instrument. Objective The aim of the present study was to check the sensitivity to successful therapeutic intervention and establish score bands of the InToDermQoL questionnaire. Methods Parents or grandparents of 424 children with skin diseases from Spain, Malta, Croatia, Romania, Greece, and Ukraine filled in national language versions of the InToDermQoL questionnaire. Disease severity of children with atopic dermatitis was assessed by SCORAD (Scoring atopic dermatitis). Cohen's d was used to assess the responsiveness of the instrument. Results The mean total InToDermQoL scores significantly decreased after treatment. Severity grading of the SCORAD scores gave stratification of the InToDermQoL severity grades based on 95% confidence intervals. Scores below a calculated minimal important difference of 2 corresponded to no effect on patient's health related QoL. Limitations Score banding may be slightly different across patient population and study context. Conclusion All 3 age-specific versions of the InToDermQoL questionnaire showed sensitivity to treatment. Score bands for the InToDermQoL questionnaire have been established.

Abstract
The psychometric validity and reliability of widely used atopic dermatitis (AD) outcome measures across different races and ethnicities are unclear. We describe the rates of reporting race, ethnicity, and skin tone in studies testing the psychometric properties of AD outcome measures and compare the psychometric analyses across race, ethnicity, and skin tone. We systematically reviewed MEDLINE and EMBASE for studies reporting psychometric properties of clinician-reported or patient-reported outcome measures in AD (International Prospective Register of Systematic Reviews: CRD42021239614). Overall, 16,100 nonduplicate articles were screened; 165 met inclusion criteria. Race and/or ethnicity were reported in 55 (33.3%) studies; of those, race was assessed by self-report in 10 studies (6.1%) or was unspecified in 45 (27.3%). A total of 16 studies (9.7%) evaluated psychometric property differences by race, and only five (4.4%) of those did not recognize it as a limitation. Properties assessed across race, ethnicity, or skin tone were differential item functioning, convergent validity feasibility, inter-rater reliability, intrarater reliability, test‒retest reliability, and known-groups validity. Multiple instruments demonstrated performance differences across ethnoracial groups. This review highlights the paucity of race/ethnicity consideration for psychometric property testing in AD outcome measurement instruments. More AD outcomes instruments should be validated in diverse populations.

Abstract
Autoimmune and inherited bullous disorders are rare skin diseases that may have a profound negative impact on quality of life (QOL). Common symptoms include pain, pruritus, and scarring, and complications may result in the loss of the ability to perform daily tasks. Diagnosis may have a negative psychological impact, and ongoing management may require a significant allocation of time and resources by both patients and providers. To provide patient-centered care, consideration of these factors is of utmost importance for the dermatologist treating patients with bullous disorders. Herein, we present a review of the primary literature evaluating QOL in autoimmune and inherited bullous disorders, including pemphigus, pemphigoid, epidermolysis bullosa, and Hailey-Hailey disease.

Abstract
Core outcome sets (COSs) are an agreed standardized collection of outcomes that should be measured and reported in all clinical trials for a specific clinical condition. Tsekhe aim of our position paper by the European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology (EADV) Task Force on Quality of Life and Patient Oriented Outcomes was to identify the challenges and Patient Oriented Outcomes advantages in the development of COSs within dermatological QoL research. Twelve EADV Task Force multidisciplinary team members presented a total of 101 items (51 advantages and 50 disadvantages). All participants considered that COS are beneficial for comparison between different studies, treatments, dermatological diseases, geographical location and ethnicities. In conclusion, the EADV Task Force on Quality of Life and Patient Oriented Outcomes has recognized the primacy of advantages of COS and deliberated that the disadvantages in COS are related to development process and use of COS.

Abstract
Introduction Different aspects of quality of life (QoL) of infants and children with atopic dermatitis (AD) are well studied but there is a lack of studies on seborrhoeic dermatitis (SD) and allergic contact dermatitis (ACD). The aim of this study was to compare the impact of SD, ACD and AD on young children. Parts of questionnaires were filled in during the COVID-19 pandemic and therefore we decided to check if the pandemic affected dermatology-specific health-related quality of life (HRQoL) in our patients. Methods In this cross-sectional study approved by the local ethics committee of the Kiev City Clinical Dermatovenereologic Hospital parents of children with SD, ACD and AD from birth to 4 years old from the same department of dermatology were asked to fill in the dermatology-specific questionnaire the Infants and Toddlers Dermatology Quality of Life (InToDermQoL). Diagnoses were based on clinical manifestations and anamnesis. The study was carried out from 2018 till 2021. Results The InToDermQoL questionnaire was filled in by 176 parents of children with SD, ACD and AD. Mean total InToDermQoL scores were significantly higher in children with AD than in SD and ACD (P < 0.01). HRQoL of children with AD during the COVID-19 pandemic was significantly worse than before pandemic (41.30 ± 24.40 and 28.51 ± 17.67 respectively, P = 0.02). Scores of the item on ‘sleep problems’ significantly decreased during the COVID-19 pandemic in children with SD (1.19 ± 1.01 and 0.64 ± 0.63, P < 0.05), as did scores of the item on ‘rejection by other children’ in children with AD (0.96 ± 0.98 and 0.20 ± 0.45, P < 0.05). Conclusions To the best of our knowledge this is the first study on HRQoL of the youngest children with SD and ACD. In our study children with SD and ACD had comparable but lower impact of skin disease on their HRQoL than children with AD. The COVID-19 pandemic led to more severe HRQoL impairment in patients with AD visiting a dermatology department.

Abstract
Knowledge on hidradenitis suppurativa/acne inversa (HS) is rapidly increasing. HS has a profound impact on patients and their family life. Several factors, such as comorbidities, unemployment and HS severity, make this impact even more severe. The most widely used instrument to measure this impact is the dermatology-specific DLQI. We also identified six HS-specific health-related quality of life (HRQoL) instruments. Of them, HIDRAdisk, HSIA, HiSQOL and HSQoL-24 are better validated but there is still lack of experience of its use. Several treatment methods showed positive effect on patients’ HRQoL. Surgery remains a method with a substantial positive effect on HRQoL. Several studies confirming a positive effect of adalimumab on the HRQoL of patients with HS were published during the last three years. Data on the influence of several other biologics on HRQoL of HS patients are controversial or based on studies with a small number of patients.

Abstract
Psoriasis, which affects up to 2% of children may be associated with significant comorbidity, including obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, depression, and reduced quality of life. Screening and decision-making require a multidisciplinary approach with the management of potential comorbidities championed by primary care providers and supported by respective specialists and subspecialists. Research into the comorbidities and systemic manifestations has generated significant data culminating in several proposals for a consensus guideline for both pediatric and nonpediatric populations. Our aim is to provide a summary targeted to the pediatric primary care provider from the best available evidence when caring for children with psoriasis.

Abstract
The pharmaceutical approach to skin disease has been hugely successful, but despite effective drugs being available and used, there are still vast numbers of people who continue to have some level of persisting skin disease and continue to experience quality of life (QoL) impairment. So the question that needs to be answered, while we await further advances in our drug-based armamentarium, is how can we improve patients' QoL, beyond drugs? A working group was formed from members of the EADV Task Force on QoL and Patient Oriented Outcomes. Participants were asked to suggest all the ways in which they considered patients' QoL may be improved beyond medicines. Four groups of management approaches that may improve QoL in dermatology were identified: interventions within the dermatology service (hospitalization, multidisciplinary teams, patch testing and establishing relevant allergens and education), external services (corrective make-up, climatotherapy and balneotherapy), psychological (psychological intervention, cognitive therapy, hypnosis), lifestyle (lifestyle behavioural changes, religion and spirituality and music). The ultimate aim of therapy is to eradicate a disease in an individual and return the person's life to normal. But until the day comes when this has been achieved for every skin disease and for every patient there will be a need to support and assist many patients in additional non-pharmaceutical ways. These 'adjuvant' approaches receive too little attention while dermatologists and researchers strive for better pharmacological therapy. The different ways in which patients may benefit have been reviewed in our paper, but the reality is that most have a very poor evidence base. The research challenges that we have to meet are to identify those approaches that might be of value and to provide evidence for their optimal use. In the meantime, clinicians should consider the use of these approaches where QoL remains impaired despite optimal use of standard therapy.

Abstract
Children with epidermolysis bullosa (EB) experienced the highest quality of life impact among several skin conditions and have problems which had not been reported by parents of children with other skin diseases. The EB-specific module of the Infants and Toddlers Dermatology Quality of Life (InToDermQoL) questionnaire was recently developed to measure the impact of disease-specific aspects in children from birth to the age of 4 years. The aim of this study was initial validation of the InToDermQoL-EB questionnaire. Parents of 44 children with EB from seven countries completed the InToDermQoL-EB questionnaire. Cronbach's alpha was .86, .89 and .91 for three age-specific versions. Differences between severity levels were all significant except for that between moderate and severe level in the version for 3- to 4-year-old children. All items of the three versions of the InToDermQoL-EB showed very high levels of relevance except "problems with defecation" in children younger than 1 year and "rejection by other children" in 3- to 4-year-old children. The three versions of the InToDermQoL-EB instrument showed good internal consistency and discriminated well between different severity levels. All InToDermQoL-EB items were confirmed as being of high relevance and the questionnaire may be used in practice and clinical trials.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE The aim of this updated systematic review was to systematically assess the measurement properties of previously discussed and new quality-of-life patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs) in children and adults with eczema using the new COSMIN guideline. METHODS A systematic literature search was conducted in PubMed and EMBASE. Eligible studies reported on measurement properties of quality-of-life PROMs for children and adults with eczema. The methodological quality of selected already known PROMs and new evidence identified through the literature search was assessed with the COSMIN Risk of Bias checklist. The adequacy of included PROMs was judged with updated quality criteria, and the quality of evidence of the summarized results was graded. Finally, PROMs were placed in a recommendation category (A-C). RESULTS In total, 133 measurement properties of nine different PROMs were assessed. No PROM could be placed in category A due to a lack of validation studies. Only the DLQI fulfilled the criteria for category C and therefore should not be recommended for use. All other PROMs were placed in category B, that is, they still have the opportunity to be recommended, but need further validation. CONCLUSIONS Currently, no PROM for quality of life can be recommended for use in children and adults with eczema. Further validation is needed. The DLQI cannot be recommended for future use.

Abstract
The creation of the Dermatology Life Quality Index (DLQI) questionnaire facilitated many studies on the impact of skin diseases on patients' quality of life (QoL). Many national and international guidelines recommend QoL assessment in dermatology, and some of them contain detailed recommendations on treatment goals and changes of treatment approaches based on DLQI score banding and minimal clinically important difference. The methodology of QoL in strument development and validation is constantly becoming more rigorous. Initiatives on selection of core outcome sets for skin diseases are focused on clinical trials but may also be beneficial for clinicians. There are various benefits of using QoL information in clinical practice, but experience of this is very limited at the moment. QoL assessment in dermatology is a rapidly developing field with a gradual shift from theory to practice.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The first dermatology-specific proxy health-related quality of life (HRQoL) instrument for children 0-4 years old with skin diseases, the Infants and Toddlers Dermatology Quality of Life (InToDermQoL), was recently developed. In order to avoid the problem of cross-cultural inequivalence focus groups work and pilot tests were organized simultaneously in all national centres of the project. The InToDermQoL showed good comprehensibility, clarity and acceptance. OBJECTIVE To validate the InToDermQoL questionnaire during international field tests. METHODS Internal consistency, test-retest reliability, convergent and discriminant validity of the InToDermQoL questionnaire were checked during international field tests. RESULTS Parents of 473 children with skin diseases filled in the national language versions of the InToDermQoL questionnaire. All three age-specific versions of the InToDermQoL questionnaire with 10, 12 and 15 items, respectively, showed high internal consistency (Cronbach's α 0.90-0.93), good test-retest reliability (correlation coefficients > 0.9), significant correlations with the most widely used atopic dermatitis-specific proxy instrument, the Infants Dermatitis Quality of Life Index (correlation coefficients 0.68-0.79). The InToDermQoL versions for children <3 years old well correlated with the atopic dermatis severity measure Scoring of Atopic Dermatitis (correlation coefficients 0.66 and 0.86 for 10 and 12 items versions, respectively). The InToDermQoL questionnaire discriminated well among different diagnoses and disease severity levels. CONCLUSION Our field tests confirmed internal consistency, test-retest reliability, convergent and discriminant validity of the InToDermQoL questionnaire. Development and validation of the InToDermQoL questionnaire make it possible to assess dermatology-specific aspects of HRQoL in youngest children with skin diseases. There are many reasons to assess HRQoL in dermatologic clinical practice, and we hope that our new instrument will be used internationally in paediatric dermatology for research and practical needs.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Epidermolysis bullosa (EB) may have severe impact on different aspects of patients' life. Until now there was no EB-specific quality of life (QoL) instrument for young children. OBJECTIVE To create EB-specific proxy module of the Infants and Toddlers Dermatology Quality of Life (InToDermQoL) questionnaire. METHODS Focus groups with parents of children with EB were organized. Parents of EB children were interviewed by the project staff with regard to their perception of QoL issues of the skin disease of their children. RESULTS Focus groups with parents of EB children in Ukraine and Romania were organized. Parents represented eight boys and 12 girls from 3 months to 4 years old with different EB types and disease severity. Based on the analysis of focus groups' results, two EB specific items that were not mentioned by parents of children with other skin diseases and therefore were not included to the dermatology-specific InToDermQoL questionnaire were developed: 'problems with defecation' and 'problems with shoes'. These problems were mentioned by 55% of all parents and 11.76% of parents that represented EB children older than 1 year, respectively. CONCLUSION We want to invite other centres and EB related organizations to join our project starting from the pilot test. There are many different reasons why QoL measurement is important in dermatology clinical practice and our goal is practical use of the instrument in children with EB.
