Abstract
Backgrounds Nursing is the key group to provide healthcare services, and it is easy for nursing staff to develop mental health problems. Aims The study aimed to evaluate prevalence of psychological symptoms in nurses working in an intensive care unit (ICU) and the inter-relationship of associations of psychological symptoms using network analysis. Methods This study is a cross-sectional design study. The Chinese version of the Symptom Check List-90 (SCL-90) was used to measure the psychological status of ICU nurses. The network structure of psychological symptoms was characterised, and indices of 'Expected influence' were used to identify symptoms central to the network. Network stability was examined using a case-dropping bootstrap procedure. Results Multiple logistic regression analysis found those who had worked more than 15 years were less likely to experience positive psychological symptoms, whereas nurses working in emergency ICU and other ICUs, nurses working in departments with over 16 beds were more likely to develop psychological symptoms. In addition, 'Anxiety', 'Mental degeneration' and 'Depression' were central symptoms in the network. Conclusions ICU nurses reported a high level of psychological symptoms, which may affect the quality of their work and worsen public health problems.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Mental health nursing is a demanding and stressful profession that impacts nurses' professional quality of life. Psychological resilience can be a protective factor. However, the relationship has not been extensively studied. This study aims to examine the relationship between psychological resilience and professional quality of life and identify potential predictors of ProQOL subscales among mental health nurses. METHODS The study employed a cross-sectional design to collect data from 179 mental health nurses. Data was collected using two standardized questionnaires: the Connor-Davidson resilience scale and the professional quality of life scale. Participants were recruited through convenient sampling during a 3-month period from April to June 2022, and the data were collected using an online survey tool called QuestionPro. RESULTS The study found a strong positive correlation between psychological resilience and compassion satisfaction (r = 0.632, P < 0.001). However, there was a negative significant correlation between resilience with burnout (r = -0.470, P < 0.001) and secondary traumatic stress (r = -0.210, P = 0.005). The study also found that higher resilience levels were associated with higher levels of compassion satisfaction and lower levels of secondary traumatic stress. Additionally, higher burnout scores were associated with higher levels of secondary traumatic stress. The study also identified that age and the number of children had weak associations with compassion satisfaction, while workplace was a significant predictor of burnout and secondary traumatic stress. CONCLUSION The study emphasizes the importance of resilience, burnout, and secondary traumatic stress in the well-being of healthcare professionals, especially nurses. The findings suggest that assessing nurses' resilience and professional quality of life can raise psychological resilience awareness and help managers create the necessary working conditions to improve nurses' professional quality of life.

Abstract
BACKGROUND There is limited research on the effects of nationally oriented health care workforce interventions on RNs' perceptions of their work systems and health-related quality of life (HRQOL). PURPOSE Guided by a systems framework, we examined the association of being affiliated with an organization partnered with the American Nurses Association's Healthy Nurse, Healthy Nation (HNHN) program on RNs' perceptions of their work systems and HRQOL. METHODS We performed a correlational, cross-sectional secondary analysis of a national RN sample (N = 2,166) with case-control matching. We used multiple linear and logistic regressions to evaluate our research questions. DISCUSSION Affiliation with an HNHN partner organization was directly associated with more desirable work system perceptions, and indirectly associated with greater HRQOL. Organization-level workplace interventions hold promise to improve RN working conditions and well-being. CONCLUSION There is an ongoing need to continue developing and evaluating scalable workplace well-being interventions for health care organizations.

Abstract
AIM To examine the relationship between nursing work environment, nurses' perception of decent work, job satisfaction, and physical and mental health. BACKGROUND According to the psychology of working theory, work-related and overall well-being levels of employees with decent work increase as their basic needs are met. METHODS This study was conducted as a cross-sectional, correlational study. The study sample consisted of 311 nurses working in two hospitals in a province of Turkey. The participants were selected using convenience sampling method. The model of the research was analyzed using structural equation modeling. This study was reported using the STROBE checklist for cross-sectional studies. RESULTS The four dimensions of the nursing work environment were found to have a significant relationship with decent work. Decent work was found to have a direct relationship with physical and mental health. It had an indirect relationship between three subscales of work environment and physical and mental health, however, decent work had no significant relationship with job satisfaction. CONCLUSIONS The findings of this study indicated the role of decent work environment and its relationship with nurses' physical and mental health. IMPLICATIONS FOR NURSING AND HEALTH POLICY Nurse managers, policy makers, and decision-makers at all levels should improve nursing work environment and working conditions.

Abstract
Work characteristics may independently and jointly affect well-being, so that whether job demands deplete or energize employees depends on the resources available in the job. However, contradictory results on their joint effects have emerged so far in the literature. We argue that these inconsistencies can be partially explained by two arguments in the contemporary literature in the field. First, most studies in the job design domain are based on classic variable-centered methodologies which, although informative, are not well suited to investigate complex patterns of interactions among multiple variables. Second, these studies have mainly focused on generic work characteristics (e.g., workload, control, support), and are lacking in occupational specificity. Thus, to overcome these limitations, in the current research we include generic and occupation-specific work characteristics and adopt a person-centered approach to (a) identify different patterns of interactions of job demands and resources in a sample of healthcare employees, and (b) determine the degree to which these patterns are associated with employee well-being. We involved a sample of 1513 Italian healthcare providers and collected data on key job demands (workload, emotional dissonance, patient demands and physical demands) and resources (control, management support and peers' support). We focused on job satisfaction as a broad indicator of well-being. Latent profile analysis revealed four profiles of job demands and resources: high strain-isolated, resourceless, resourceful and active job on the ward. The results of Bayesian informative hypothesis testing showed the highest support for the hypothesis stating that healthcare employees belonging to the active job on the ward profile (medium-high demands, high resources) were the most satisfied. Conversely, employees belonging to the high strain-isolated profile (high demands, low resources) and the resourceless profile (medium-low demands, low resources) were the least satisfied. Overall, our study confirms the key role played by job resources in determining well-being in high-risk sectors, demonstrating that job satisfaction can develop both in challenging and less demanding situations. On a practical level, mapping the complexity of the healthcare psychosocial work environment has important implications, allowing for a better assessment process of employee well-being and helping to identify the most effective and fitting interventions.

Abstract
Strict safety procedures including lockdowns were adopted during the Corona virus (COVID-19) pandemic worldwide which might have influenced mental and physical health in affected communities. This study aimed to investigate the level of Health-related quality of life (HRQoL) and its correlates among individuals with stroke in Jordan during the COVID-19 pandemic. This was a cross-sectional study with a self-administered questionnaire, which included demographics, 12-item Short Form (SF-12) health survey, Depression Anxiety Stress Scale (DASS 21), and The Stroke Impact Scale 16 (SIS-16). Descriptive analyses were used to summarize study data. Factors significantly correlated with HRQoL were determined using Pearson correlation. A total of 97 individuals successfully completed the study with a mean age of 57.9 years (±57.9). The level of HRQoL (measured by SF-12) was significantly and negatively associated with mental health symptoms (depression, anxiety, and stress) and the stroke recovery subscale of the SIS-16. Furthermore, participants' HRQoL level was significantly and positively associated with participants' age, stroke chronicity, receiving rehabilitation, and amount of help asked from caregivers. Jordanians with stroke demonstrated a relatively low level of HRQoL and high levels of mental health symptoms during the COVID-19 pandemic. Healthcare administrators should carefully consider individuals with stroke HRQoL and its correlates while planning for future crises.

Abstract
This study aimed to explore the factors involved in Iranian nurses' health-seeking behavior. In this qualitative exploratory descriptive study, 15 nurses from hospitals affiliated to Iran and Qazvin University of Medical Sciences were interviewed from April to March 2020. Data were collected via purposive sampling by unstructured in-depth interviews and analyzed using thematic analysis. Findings identified 5 main themes, "fear," "trust/distrust," "excuse," "accessibility," and "support" that were involved in nurses' health-seeking behavior. The findings of this study may contribute to a deeper understanding of the factors involved in nurses' health-seeking behavior and pave the way for further research and policy making regarding nursing workforce health.

Abstract
Objective To investigate subgroups of health-related quality of life (HRQoL) in the Chinese medical staff and identify the demographic factors associated with these profiles. Methods 574 Chinese medical staff were surveyed online. HRQoL was measured by using the 36-Item Short Form Health Survey, Version 2. Latent profile analysis (LPA) was used to identify the profiles of HRQoL. The associations between HRQoL profiles and covariates were assessed using multinomial logistic regression. Results Three HRQoL profiles were developed: low HRQoL at 15.6%, moderate HRQoL at 46.9%, and high HRQoL at 37.6%. Multinomial logistic regression showed night shift times, aerobic exercise conditioning, and personality type significantly predicted the profile membership. Conclusion Our findings develop earlier approaches that only used total scores to evaluate this group's HRQoL and help them with tailored interventions to promote better HRQoL.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Nurses worldwide were exposed to increased levels of occupational stress during the COVID-19 pandemic which could have hindered their level of health-related quality of life (HRQoL). OBJECTIVES This project investigated HRQoL level in nurses during the COVID-19 pandemic and its health and occupational predictors. METHODS A cross-sectional design was adopted and targeted full-time nurses in Jordan. Study collected data included demographics, 12-item Short Form health survey (SF-12) to measure HRQoL, Nordic musculoskeletal questionnaire (NMQ), nurses' evaluation of work conditions during COVID-19, and Depression Anxiety Stress Scale (DASS21). Data was analyzed descriptively to summarize main outcome measures and using multiple linear regression model to identify factors significantly associated with HRQoL. RESULTS In total 245 nurses successfully completed the survey, 39.6% were males with a mean age of 35±6 years. Participant SF12 scores were 65.94±17.85 for physical component and 50.09±19.36 mental component. The statistical model significantly explained 53.2% of variance in HRQoL (r2 = 0.534, F = 57.849, p < 0.001). Better sleep quality self-evaluation was significantly associated with higher HRQoL levels, while increased levels of depression, musculoskeletal pain, and financial burden on family were significantly associated with worse HRQoL level. CONCLUSION Jordanian nurses' HRQoL level was relatively low during COVID-19. Sleep quality, mental health status, musculoskeletal health status, and financial status were identified as factors possibly influenced HRQoL among nurses during the COVID-19 pandemic. Nurses' quality of life along with their mental and physical health should be considered by healthcare administrators in the remaining period of COVID-19 and in future similar emergencies.

Abstract
Healthcare workers worldwide have been exposed to extraordinary stress during COVID-19 pandemic. This study aimed to investigate health-related quality of life (HRQoL) level and its health and occupational associated factors among Jordanian physicians during COVID-19 pandemic. A cross-sectional design using an online survey was adopted targeting physicians at different Jordanian hospitals. The study survey included demographics, HRQoL measured by 12-item Short Form health survey (SF-12) mental and physical components, physicians' evaluation of work conditions during COVID-19, Neck Disability Index (NDI), Depression Anxiety Stress Scale (DASS 21), and International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ). Descriptive analyses were conducted to summarize primary data. Factors associated with HRQoL were determined using a multiple variable regression analysis. In total, 326 physicians successfully completed the survey, 44.2% were males with mean age of 32.08 (±6.93). SF-12 mental component mean was 52.13 (±20.84) and physical component mean was 69.24 (±18.1). Physicians HRQoL level was significantly associated with levels of stress (β = -0.23, 95% CI -1.05 to -0.27), depression (β = -0.22, 95% CI -1.09 to -0.28), neck disability (β = -0.30, 95% CI -1.08 to -0.57), health self-evaluation (β = 0.14, 95% CI 1.66-7.87), sleep self-evaluation (β = 0.09, 95% CI 0.16-3.58), and physical activity level (β = 0.09, 95% CI 0.00-0.001). Jordanian physicians' level of HRQoL was relatively low during COVID-19. Healthcare facilities administrators should take into consideration factors associated with physicians' HRQoL level when planning for future healthcare emergencies.

Abstract
Objective: We aimed to assess the level of fear among nurses in Saudi Arabia during the COVID-19 outbreak. Methods: A cross-sectional survey-based study was conducted from June to August 2020. All nurses currently working in public and private hospitals in Saudi Arabia during the COVID-19 pandemic were invited to complete an online survey. We used the 7-item unidimensional Fear of COVID-19 Scale (FCV-19S) to assess the level of fear of COVID-19. Multiple regression analysis was used to identify predictors associated with fear of COVID-19. Results: A total of 969 nurses participated in this study. The participants were relatively young with a mean age of 35.5 ± 10.46 years. About two-thirds of the participants were women (65.9%), married (57.2%), and were non-Saudi nationals (67%). The total mean score for the FCV-19S was 19.7 SD 7.03 (range 7–35), which is near the mid-point, indicating a moderate level of fear of COVID-19. Out of the eight variables measured in the analysis, three variables emerged as a significant predictor (i.e., gender, marital status, and age). A higher level of fear (FCV-19S) was associated with being a woman, married, and older age (p ≤ 0.05). Conclusion: This study demonstrated the level of fear of COVID-19 among nurses in Saudi Arabia. Overall, nurses in Saudi reported moderate levels of fear of COVID-19. Assessing the level of fear of nurses who work during the COVID-19 pandemic should be a priority to health care administrators to prevent mental health difficulties or psychological injury.

Abstract
PURPOSE Health-related quality of life (HRQoL) continues to be understudied among nurses in developing countries. This study aimed to assess (1) the HRQoL of nurses in Malawi caring for hospitalised children and their families, and (2) the nurses' demographic characteristics associated with their HRQoL. DESIGN AND METHODS The cross-sectional study was carried out at 23 hospitals in Malawi, and 203 nurses participated, resulting in a 96% response rate. The Medical Outcomes Study 36-Item Short Form Health Survey was used to collect data. The physical and mental health component scores were evaluated and compared with those in a Cyprus study as the population norm. Both univariate and multivariate analyses were performed, with the significance level set at 0.05. RESULTS The nurses' HRQoL was moderately impaired; however, the mean scores of both the physical and the mental health components of the nurses in the Cyprus study were statistically lower than those of the Malawian nurses (t = 36.541, p < 0.001 and t = 19.477, p < 0.001, respectively). Age was independently associated with a better physical health status (β = 29.949, p = 0.038), while female nurses were more likely to report a negative physical health status compared with male nurses (β = -97.481, p = 0.002). CONCLUSION The findings suggested that the Malawian nurses were affected by work-related stress, which affected their mental and physical health status. The current findings represent preliminary data, and as such further studies on the association between work-related factors and HRQoL are needed. PRACTICE IMPLICATIONS Knowledge of HRQoL from the perspective of nurses can help healthcare organisations to develop interventions to limit the negative impacts of work-related stress on nurses caring for children.

Abstract
The routine assessment of workplace stress is mostly based on standardized self-report tools, including generic psychosocial risk indicators (G-PRIs) designed to fit very heterogeneous occupational sectors. However, the use "by default" of such indicators might be inadequate when they fail to characterize the specificity of the work environment; hence, the inclusion of more contextualized indicators (C-PRIs) has been recommended. We aimed at evaluating the additional contribution of three C-PRIs (Work-Family Conflict, Emotional Demands, and Excessive Demands from Patients) in predicting individual outcomes (Emotional Exhaustion, Turnover Intentions) compared to commonly used G-PRIs (e.g., Demand, Control, Support), in a sample of 787 healthcare workers involved in a routine workplace stress assessment. Multilevel hierarchical regression supported the additional contributions of C-PRIs in predicting both outcomes over G-PRIs, sex, age and shift work. More robust and consistent evidence emerged for Emotional Exhaustion, which was significantly predicted by all C-PRIs, whereas Turnover Intentions was only predicted by the C-PRI Emotional Demands. Importantly, not all G-PRIs showed a relationship with the two outcomes. Taken together, our results support the importance of including C-PRIs in workplace stress assessment carried out by organizations, which should be selected based on literature search and discussion with the stakeholders.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To describe the general characteristics of nursing professionals and assess the influence of overcommitment on perceived climacteric symptoms and on the quality of life of nursing professionals. METHOD A cross-sectional, analytical study of 152 nursing auxiliaries and assistants aged 40 years or older was conducted at 3 hospitals in the interior of São Paulo state. Sociodemographic data were collected and the Blatt-Kupperman Menopausal Index, Women´s Health Questionnaire, Medical Outcome Study 36-item Short Form Health Survey and Effort-Reward Imbalance were applied in 2017. A descriptive analysis was performed and network analysis was carried out. RESULTS Participants had a mean age of 50.23 years (SD ±7.1). Group 1 comprising 61 (40.1%) women with overcommitment had poorer quality of life as well as more severe climacteric symptoms. CONCLUSIONS Presence of overcommitment seems to influence the negative perception of climacteric symptomatology and quality of life.

Abstract
AIMS To describe the current situation of the work-life balance gap among acute care ward nurses and assess its association with quality of life (QOL). BACKGROUND Nurses who spend more time at work than on their personal lives are reported to have lower QOL. To capture the actual-ideal work-life balance gap among nurses with different backgrounds, time spent on work, family and private life must be examined. METHODS This cross-sectional study included 228 nurses from 3 Japanese acute care hospitals. RESULTS Work gap scores and family gap scores for nurses living alone were significantly higher and lower, respectively, than those for nurses living with family. Moreover, the QOL score decreased with increase in the work-life balance gap for nurses. CONCLUSIONS Nurses living alone had greater work burden than nurses living with family. Conversely, living with family may protect nurses' family lives. The work-life balance gap was associated with QOL. IMPLICATIONS FOR NURSING MANAGEMENT Addressing the gap between the actual-ideal proportions in work-life balance is important for improving nurses' QOL and work-life balance. Flexible working options and policy changes may also improve their work-life balance and QOL.

Abstract
Objective: The aim of this study was to assess nurses’ health-related quality of life. Methods: This cross-sectional analytical study was accomplished among 154 nurses. Data were collected from two tertiary care hospitals of Karachi. Consent was taken prior to data collection from every participant. Questionnaire Short Form Health Survey-26 (SF-26) and Patients Health Questionnaire-9(PHQ-9) were used as a study tool. Data were analyzed through SPSS version 21. Results: ANOVA and T-test confirmed that energy/fatigue domain differed significantly with level of education, duty shift and monthly income with p-values 0.025, 0.001 and 0.006 respectively. It was observed that mean scores of physical functioning, role limitation due to physical health and pain domains differ significantly between depressive and non-depressive participants, with p-values 0.045, 0.01 and 0.005 respectively. Conclusions: Health related quality of life differs in comparison of physical health domain with depressive and non-depressive nurses. Only energy/fatigue domain was significantly associated with level of education, duty shift and monthly income of nurses.

Abstract
The study aimed to compare nurses' quality of life and investigate key determinants among Asian countries with different economic status. A cross-sectional survey was conducted across five Asian countries (Japan, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, and Bhutan). Quality of life (WHOQOL-BREF), job stress (National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health questionnaire), and demographic data were assessed. Stepwise multivariate linear regression analysis was performed to identify the key determinants of quality of life. Participants were 3,829 nurses (response rate: 82%) with a mean age of 33 ± 10 yr and majority were women (92%). Regarding quality of life, Bhutan yielded the highest scores, followed by Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore, and Japan, and these results were statistically significant. The key determinants that were significantly related to quality of life were "stress coping ability," "life satisfaction," "Japan," "social support," "job stress," and "Singapore" (adjusted R2=0.46). In conclusion, nurses' quality of life differs across Asian countries and is not linked to the country's economic development. To maintain a good quality of life for nurses, an international exchange program like international nursing conferences for work environment and staff coping strategies is recommended to broaden institution' minds and share experiences and exchange views to be able to realize their own problems and discover global solutions to them.

Abstract
AIM To synthesize the evidence on the effectiveness of interventions aiming to promote or improve the mental health of primary care nurses. BACKGROUND Primary care nurses have been found to have high levels of emotional exhaustion and to be at increased risk of suffering from burnout, anxiety and depression. Given the increasingly critical role of nurses in high-performing primary care, there is a need to identify interventions that can effectively reduce these professionals' mental health problems and promote their well-being. EVALUATION We conducted a systematic review on the effectiveness of interventions at the individual, group, work environment or organizational level. KEY ISSUES Eight articles reporting on seven unique studies met all eligibility criteria. They were non-randomized pre-post intervention studies and reported positive impacts of interventions on at least some outcomes, though caution is warranted in interpreting these results given the moderate-weak methodological quality of studies. CONCLUSIONS This systematic review found moderate-weak evidence that primary, secondary and combined interventions can reduce burnout and stress in nurses practising in community-based health care settings. IMPLICATIONS FOR NURSING MANAGEMENT The results highlight a need for the implementation and evaluation of new strategies tailored for community-based nurses practising in primary care.

Abstract
Background Nurses’ health is often accompanied by various dangers due to the nature of their career. Therefore, it is required to monitor their health. Based on designing any system, users’ views should be investigated relative to the usefulness, necessity and acceptance of the system. Then, a designing and implementing process is conducted. Objective To investigate nurses’ views on accepting the creation of a Nurses’ Health Monitoring System. Methods This cross-sectional study was conducted in 2015. Sample size was 586 nurses of Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences. Sampling was conducted using multi-stage random sampling method. Research tool was a two-section researcher-made questionnaire. In the first section, demographic data were studied and in the second section, a twelve-item questionnaire was presented based on technology acceptance model. Five-item questions were regulated on perceived usefulness (PU) and perceived ease of use (PEU) and views towards creating this system. Validity of the questionnaire was approved by content validity and content validity index and its reliability was approved by Cronbach’s alpha. Data were analyzed using SPSS16 and descriptive statistics (frequency distribution, percentage, mean). Results The majority of participants (75.3%) were females between 25–35 years of age (44.4%) and (58.2%) were married. Mean work experience was 11.5±8.19. Mean perceived usefulness (PU) (17.36±2.66) and perceived ease of use (PEU) (16.75±2.65) and views towards using a Nurses’ Health Monitoring System was (16.220±3.05). Conclusion Over two-thirds of nurses demonstrated perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use as well as positive views towards creating a nurses’ health monitoring system. It is recommended to design and implement a nurses’ health monitoring system based on local culture of Iranian nurses using IT in the health sector.
