Abstract
BACKGROUND The shortage of inpatient psychiatric mental health care nurses in Saudi Arabia represents an important health care challenge. AIM The aim of this study was to illuminate perspectives of psychiatric mental health nurses employed in psychiatric inpatient settings about their employment experiences. METHOD This study adopted an exploratory qualitative approach using thematic content analysis. Ten professional nurses with psychiatric inpatient caring experience participated in two focus groups composed of Master of Nursing students. RESULTS Four main themes emerged: inadequate professional skills and knowledge for psychiatric mental health care practice, negative public attitudes toward psychiatric/mental health nurses, concerns for personal safety, and alternatives and advantages. The findings of this study suggest that nurses' lack of interest in working in psychiatric units is not merely personal but also social and organizational. CONCLUSIONS The study findings may encourage managers and authorities to develop measures to attract more mental health nurses to work in psychiatric units. Such strategies may include modification of nurses' skills, training, and professional knowledge, collegial supervision, mentoring, and working conditions and environment.

Abstract
AIM To gain more insight into how nurses experience a participatory live music practice in relation to their ability to deliver compassionate care to medically hospitalised patients. DESIGN Qualitative interpretive design. METHODS Sixteen nurses participating in a live music practice with patients were interviewed using in-depth interviews with open-ended questions. Audio recordings were transcribed verbatim and subsequently coded. Theory-driven inductive and deductive approaches were applied in thematic data analysis. RESULTS We identified four themes: (1) Nurses' empathy and compassion; (2) The caring nurse-patient relationship; (3) Person-centred approaches to care and (4) Nurses' subjective wellbeing. By observing patients' reactions to the music, nurses described that they obtained a deeper insight and understanding of patients' emotional wellbeing. These observations led to increased feelings of compassion in patient contact and stimulated informal communication between nurses and patients through a sense of shared humanity. According to nurses, these aspects positively affected collaboration with patients in delivering care and stimulated them to pursue person-centred approaches to care. Participating in the live music practice also positively affected nurses' wellbeing, enhanced relaxation and created an ambiance in which compassion could be expressed. CONCLUSION A live music practice can positively contribute to the delivery of compassionate care by providing meaningful shared moments that increase feelings of empathy and compassion and strengthen the caring relationship. IMPLICATIONS FOR THE PROFESSION Offering a live music practice at the ward and bedside offers a unique possibility to enhance engagement in person-centred, compassionate care. IMPACT While compassion and compassionate care are essential component of nursing, nurses often experience multiple barriers to its provision in daily practice. An innovative way to stimulate compassionate care is through the participation of nurses and patients in a live music practice, providing a meaningful moment shared between them. This stimulates feelings of shared humanity and bonding in the caring relationship. REPORTING METHOD The COnsolidated criteria for REporting Qualitative research (COREQ). Abstract
OBJECTIVE To investigate the relationship between work readiness and work well-being for newly graduated nurses and the mediating role of emotional labor and psychological capital in this relationship. METHODS A cross-sectional survey was conducted in mainland China. A total of 478 newly graduated nurses completed the Work Readiness Scale, Emotional Labour Scale, Psychological Capital Questionnaire, and Work Well-being Scale. Descriptive statistical methods, Pearson correlation analysis, and a structural equation model were used to analyze the available data. RESULTS Newly graduated nurses' work readiness was significantly positively correlated with work well-being (r = 0.21, p < 0.01), deep acting (r = 0.11, p < 0.05), and psychological capital (r = 0.18, p < 0.01). Emotional labor and psychological capital partially mediated the relationship between work readiness and work well-being. Additionally, emotional labor and psychological capital had a chain-mediating effect on the association. CONCLUSIONS AND CLINICAL RELEVANCE Work readiness not only affects newly graduated nurses' work well-being directly but also indirectly through emotional labor and psychological capital. These results provide theoretical support and guidance for the study and improvement of newly graduated nurses' work well-being and emphasize the importance of intervention measures to improve work readiness and psychological capital and the adoption of deep-acting emotional-labor strategies.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Patient safety is a critical part of healthcare delivery that must be prioritized to guarantee optimal patient outcomes. Oncology nursing is a specialized area of nursing that demands great focus on patient safety because of the high-risk nature of this patient group. Nurses play an important role in ensuring that patients receive safe and effective care. However, the nursing practice environment can have a substantial impact on how nurses respond to patient safety problems. A just culture can promote open communication and identify potential safety issues, whereas a culture of silence can have a negative impact on patient outcomes. OBJECTIVE Firstly, assess the relationship between the nursing practice environment and oncology nurses' silent behavior towards patient safety. Secondly, the interaction effect of just culture as a moderator in this relationship. METHOD A cross-sectional, correctional research design was employed. Data was collected from 303 nurses working at the oncology departments of five hospitals in Egypt using three questionnaires. Data was analyzed using SPSS-PROCESS Macro (v4.2). RESULTS There was a moderate, negative, and significant correlation between the nurse practice environment and silent behavior of nurses towards patient safety. The interaction effect of just culture with nurse practice environment strengthens this relationship, thus enhancing errors reporting. CONCLUSIONS This study emphasized on the importance of creating a just culture that facilitates open communication and eliminating the potential hazards result from nurses' silence. Thus, oncology nurses must be encouraged to report issues related to patient safety.

Abstract
The nursing shortage that is upon us is the result of a confluence of factors, some simple and some complex. Legacy solutions are not working. Recovery from the current situation involves examining and reshaping the nursing work environment. Creative and innovative solutions are being developed and tested. The call for addressing the work environment is surfacing in the literature, yet methods for doing so in an orderly, progressive manner have been elusive. To solve complex problems, structure helps lead to clear thinking. This work presents a conceptual framework for nurse retention derived from concept analysis of initiatives with empirical outcomes for intent to stay, intent to leave, turnover, and retention. It layers in 2 simple theorists and presents an intuitive, understandable model to guide strategic planning and decision making. The Framework has been used for several applications, one of which is a unit-based action planning method that is systematic, cyclic, and uses data relevant to specific unit culture. Improvements occurred in retention and engagement metrics, work effectiveness scores, and cost. Nurse managers extol the process's simplicity and ease of use, and the role the Framework plays in shaping the way they think about nurse retention.

Abstract
The world is faced with challenges due to a growing aging population and the increasing burden of chronic disease. The acute shortage of nurses and high turnover rates, particularly among novice nurses, are of great concern in many countries. Several studies have shown that turnover intention among nurses is influenced by professional identity and job satisfaction. However, to the best of our knowledge, no studies have examined this issue in the context of novice nurses. Thus, the present study aimed to explore the relationship between professional identity, job satisfaction, and turnover intention among novice nurses in China. From March 18 to April 23, 2022, a cross-sectional survey was carried out involving 532 novice nurses recruited from four public hospitals in Sichuan Province, China. Among the sample, 526 questionnaires were retrieved, with an effective response rate of 98.87%. The mean scores for turnover intention, professional identity, and job satisfaction were 13.02 ± 3.94, 36.17 ± 7.98, and 111.02 ± 21.46, respectively. High turnover intention was observed among novice nurses, of whom 54.37% (286/526) had high or very high turnover intention. Professional identity and job satisfaction among novice nurses were moderate. In terms of demographic characteristics, "Whether living with relatives" and "Monthly income" had a statistically significant impact on the turnover intention of novice nurses (P < .05). Both professional identity (r = -0.459) and job satisfaction (r = -0.517) were significantly and moderately negatively correlated with turnover intention (P < .01). The results of the multivariate linear regression analysis revealed that variables including "Whether living with relatives," "Professional identity," "Control and responsibility for work," and "Benefits" jointly accounted for 29.9% of the variance related to turnover intention among novice nurses. "Whether living with relatives," "Professional identity," "Control and responsibility for work," and "Benefits" were highly predictive of turnover intention levels among novice nurses. Hence, potential predictors of turnover intention should be considered, and intervention research should be conducted to reduce the level of turnover intention among novice nurses.

Abstract
PURPOSE Quality of care and the mental and physical health of nurses are interlinked. The COVID-19 pandemic has imposed an extremely high burden on health care. This study aimed to: 1) describe professional quality of life of registered nurses (RN) working in the pediatric and neonatal care units during the COVID-19 pandemic in Sweden, 2) compare professional quality of life between RNs with and without a Master's degree in specialist nursing pediatric care (MSc), and 3) compare differences in professional quality of life associated with the nursing experience (years). DESIGN AND METHODS This study adopted a cross-sectional survey design. The PROQoL®-5-questionnaire was administered as a web survey to 160 RNs at four pediatric wards and two neonatal units of two hospitals in Sweden. RESULTS Seventy-one RNs responded to the survey. Overall, they reported a sufficient professional quality of life. RNs with an MSc suffered significantly lower secondary traumatic stress levels. Experienced RNs reported significantly higher compassion satisfaction and lower occupational burnout. CONCLUSION Higher education and longer experience are beneficial for nurses' professional quality of life when working in pediatric care units. PRACTICAL IMPLICATIONS Results from this study highlights the importance of offering RN education in pediatric care at master level and supporting novice nurses, to prevent negative professional well-being outcomes in pediatric care, because the health of nurses is of utterly importance when crisis such as a pandemic hits the world. The findings also suggest that the conditions for professional quality of life could improve through activities such as self-care, time for reflection, better working hours, competence-adjusted salary, and educational opportunities.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Nurses' secondary traumatic stress, compassion satisfaction and posttraumatic growth are closely related, but for newly graduated nurses, there are few reports to evaluate the specific path between these three. The aim of this study was to investigate examine the mediating role of compassion satisfaction in secondary traumatic stress and posttraumatic growth among newly graduated nurses. METHODS From March 2021 to May 2021, a total of 330 newly graduated nurses from five tertiary hospitals in China were enrolled, and asked to complete questionnaires regarding secondary traumatic stress, compassion satisfaction and posttraumatic growth. Descriptive statistics, independent-samples T-test, one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA), Pearson correlation analysis and structural equation model were used in this study. A STROBE checklist was used to report findings. RESULTS The scores of secondary traumatic stress, compassion satisfaction and posttraumatic growth of newly graduated nurses were 27.11 ± 4.94 (score range: 10-50), 31.89 ± 6.22 (score range: 10-50) and 56.47 ± 20.41 (score range: 0-100), respectively. Additionally, structural equation modeling showed that compassion satisfaction mediated the relationship between secondary traumatic stress and posttraumatic growth with the partial mediating effect of 0.089. CONCLUSIONS Newly graduated nurses may experience moderate secondary traumatic stress, but their posttraumatic growth is at a low level, and compassion satisfaction significantly affects the relationship between the two. Nursing managers should strengthen psychological evaluation, and promote their posttraumatic growth by improving their level of compassion satisfaction.
