Abstract
Soybean (Glycine max) harbours high quality proteins which have been evident to exhibit therapeutic properties in alleviating many diseases including but not limited to diabetes and its related metabolic complications. Since diabetes is often manifested with hyperglycemia, impaired energy homeostasis and even low-grade chronic inflammation, plenty of information has raised the suggestion for soy protein supplementation in preventing and controlling these abnormalities. Moreover, clinical intervention studies have established a noteworthy correlation between soy protein intake and lower prevalence of diabetes. Besides soy protein, various soy-derived peptides also have been found to trigger antidiabetic response in different in vitro and in vivo models. Molecular mechanisms underlying the antidiabetic actions of soy protein and peptide have been predicted in many literatures. Results demonstrate that components of soy protein can act in diversified ways and modulate various cell signaling pathways to bring energy homeostasis and to regulate inflammatory parameters associated with diabetic pathophysiology. The main objective of the present review lies in a systemic understanding of antidiabetic role of soy protein and peptide in the context of impaired glucose and lipid metabolism, and inflammation.

Abstract
Backgrounds To study the effects of supplementation of a marine omega-3 poly-unsaturated fatty acids (n3-PUFA) formulation (Omega3Q10) in older adults with hypertension and/or hypercholesterolemia. Methods A total of 97 people were enrolled to receive 12-week supplementation of either Omega3Q10 (n = 48) or soybean oil (n = 49). Total cholesterol (TC), low density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), high density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C), and hypertension-related symptoms were determined before and after the supplementation. Results There were no baseline differences between the two groups. Omega3Q10 supplementation significantly reduced diastolic blood pressure (DBP) (from 81.6 ± 5.3 mmHg to 79.3 ± 5.2 mmHg, P < 0.05). Blood concentrations of TC and LDL-C decreased significantly and blood HDL-C level increased significantly after 12 weeks of Omega3Q10 (5.5 ± 0.7 vs. 5.3 ± 0.5, P < 0.05; 3.7 ± 0.8 vs. 3.3 ± 0.6, P < 0.05; 1.2 ± 0.6 vs. 1.3 ± 0.5, P < 0.05, respectively) and soybean oil supplementation (5.7 ± 0.8 vs. 5.6 ± 0.7, P < 0.05; 3.6 ± 0.7 vs. 3.4 ± 0.8, P < 0.05; 1.0 ± 0.8 vs. 1.2 ± 0.7, P < 0.05, respectively) but no group differences were found. A significantly greater proportion of the people in the Omega3Q10 group became free from headache and palpitations & chest tightness symptoms after the 12-week supplementation compared to that of the soybean oil group (95.5% vs. 71.4%, P < 0.01; 95.8 vs. 75.5%, P < 0.01, respectively). Conclusion 12-week supplementation of Fish oil-based PUFA appear to be more effective in improving DBP and hypertension-related symptoms than soybean oil in old adults with hypertension and hypercholesterolemia although both supplementation improved TC, LDL-C and HDL-C concentrations.

Abstract
The metabolic syndrome is multifactorial in nature and its incidence is rapidly increasing along with its risk factors. This review discusses nutrition, functional foods, and nutraceuticals most frequently adopted in the co-treatment of the metabolic syndrome. In fact, several foods, functional foods, and nutraceuticals with potential "pharmacological" activities are positioned at the border between pharmacology and nutrition. This double food-nutrition approach would help reduce the use of medicines and concomitantly decrease side effects.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Available data on the effects of a fermented soy product enriched with Enterococcus faecium and Lactobacillus Jugurti on circulating lipids and adiposity are not completely settled. This study aimed to observe the effects of a fermented soy product enriched with Enterococcus faecium and Lactobacillus Jugurti on central obesity and dyslipidemia control in Wistar adult male rats. METHODS Over a period of 8 weeks, animals had "ad libitum" food intake and water consumption as well as body weight and food consumption was monitored. The animals were assigned to four different experimental groups: Control Group (C); Control + Fermented Product Group (CPF); Hypercholesterolemic diet group (H); and Hypercholesterolemic + Fermented Product Group (HPF). The HPF and CPF groups received an intragastric administration of 1 ml of fermented product daily. After the experimental period the animals were killed by decapitation, blood was collected to measure cholesterol, triglycerides and HDL-cholesterol plasma concentration. Adipocyte circumference, lipolysis and lipogenis rates were measures using epididymal and retroperitoneal white adipose tissues. RESULTS The results demonstrated that 1 ml/day/rat of the fermented soy product promoted important benefits such as reduced cholesterolemia in hypercholesterolemic diet group and the adipocyte circumference in both control and hypercholesterolemic diet group. CONCLUSION The fermented soy product enriched with Enterococcus faecium and Lactobacillus Jugurti decreased circulating lipids levels and reduced adipocyte area in rats.

Abstract
This study was undertaken to compare the effects on plasma cholesterol concentration of a new isolated soy protein in which the protein structure is kept in its native, nondenaturated form (verum 1) versus a conventional isolated soy protein (verum 2) and milk protein (placebo). This prospective, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study was conducted in an outpatient clinical study center in Berlin, Germany. Over 8 wk, 120 patients (total cholesterol, 5.2-7.8 mmol/L) were given verum 1, verum 2, or placebo at a dosage of 25 g protein daily. At the end of the treatment period, total cholesterol levels were significantly reduced by 10.7% in the verum 1 group compared with placebo (P<.001), and levels were reduced by 5.8% in the verum 2 group (P=.008). The difference between the 2 verum groups was statistically significant (P=.008). Low-density lipoprotein cholesterol levels were significantly reduced with nondenaturated isolated soy protein only: levels were reduced by 9.4% in the verum 1 group (P=.002) and by 4.9% in the verum 2 group (P=.107). Again, the difference between the verum groups was significant (P=.05). The results of this study confirm that supplementation with isolated soy protein can lead to significant reductions in plasma concentrations of total and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol. These reductions are significantly more pronounced with an isolated soy protein that maintains the native protein structure than with a commercially available reference isolated soy protein.

Abstract
A randomized, placebo-controlled, double-blind clinical study was performed to investigate the dose-dependent response of serum cholesterol after consuming an ultra-heat-treated milk containing a soy protein preparation. Eighty hypercholesterolemic subjects were assigned to one of four study groups receiving 12.5 or 25 g soy protein (active treatment) or casein (placebo) daily over a period of 4 weeks. The trial substances were provided as ready-made, ultra-heated milk preparations. Before and after the treatment, serum concentrations of total, low-density lipoprotein, and high-density lipoprotein cholesterol were determined. Unexpectedly, at the end of the study, low-density lipoprotein cholesterol concentrations were significantly increased compared with baseline in all study groups. The magnitude of this increase (17-19%) was similar in all active and placebo study groups. Soy protein supplements previously shown to be effective in reducing serum cholesterol had in this study no such lipid-lowering effect after ultra heat treatment.

Abstract
BACKGROUND AND AIM Hyperlipidemia is one of the major risk factors of cardiovascular complication in diabetes. High intake of soy product has been suggested to prevent cardiovascular disease. The purpose of this study was to evaluate if dietary supplement of soybean D-LeciVita product, rich in polyunsaturated phospholipids (with 12% lecithin, 35% soy protein) affects serum lipids and serum and erythrocyte phospholipid fatty acid composition in type 2 diabetic patients. METHODS AND RESULTS Forty-seven patients (men and post-menopausal women) with isolated hypertriglyceridemia (IHTG) and combined hyperlipidemia (CHL), aged 43-70 years, were given 15g of D-LeciVita powder as a water suspension in a single evening dose during the follow-up period of 12 weeks. Patients kept their diabetic diet relatively constant. Treatment was associated with a significant (p < or = 0.001) decrease in serum total cholesterol and triglyceride levels by 12% and 22%, respectively. LDL-cholesterol decreased by 16% and HDL-cholesterol increased by 11% (p < or = 0.001). Our study shows a 27% decrease in LDL-cholesterol (p < or = 0.001) and a 12% increase in HDL-cholesterol (p < or = 0.01) in CHL type 2 diabetic patients. Triglyceride levels decreased in type 2 diabetic patients with IHTG and CHL by 29% and 13%, respectively (p < or = 0.01 and p < or = 0.05). Our results show decrease in SFA and increase in n-6 and n-3 PUFA in serum and erythrocyte phospholipids. SFA decreased and n-3 PUFA increased in serum and erythrocyte phospholipids in IHTG and CHL groups. CONCLUSION The present study indicated that added to a regular diet, soybean D-LeciVita product (combination of soy protein and lecithin) is associated not only with lipid-lowering effects but also with more favorable serum phospholipids fatty acid profile in type 2 diabetic patients with hyperlipidemia.

Abstract
Hormone replacement therapy has traditionally been used to treat the accompanying symptoms of oestrogen deficiency in menopause. However, not all women can, or prefer to, receive this treatment and alternatives should be considered to reduce the increased risk of osteoporosis and heart disease in menopausal women. This chapter reviews the current literature on the efficacy of phyto-oestrogens in preventing cardiovascular disease, various cancers and osteoporosis, as well as treating the vasomotor and other menopause-related symptoms. Select herbal therapies, as well as selective oestrogen receptor modulators, are also considered.

Abstract
Most studies of diet and coronary heart disease (CHD) have focused on constituents rather than on whole foods. The present study examined the relationship of selected foods to nonfatal acute myocardial infarction (AMI) in Japan, with special reference to vegetables, fruits, fish, and tofu. A total of 660 cases with their first episode of AMI aged 40-79 years living in Fukuoka City or adjacent areas and 1,277 controls matched for age, sex, and residence were surveyed on lifestyle, including dietary factors. Participation rates were 87% of cases and 52% of controls. Consumption frequencies of 19 food/beverages items and daily amounts of 4 items were ascertained by interview. The final analysis was done with 632 cases and 1,214 controls. Although consumption of vegetables showed no clear association with the risk of AMI, fruit consumption appeared to reduce the risk of AMI in both men and women. The results also suggested that fish consumption was related to a decreased risk of AMI in men, although the trend was not statistically significant. In women only, tofu consumption was inversely related to the risk of AMI; relative risks for eating tofu <2, 2-3, and 4+ times per week were 1.0, 0.8, and 0.5, respectively, after adjustment for non-dietary factors (p for trend = 0.01). Further adjustment for consumption of fruit, fish and tofu did not alter the findings generally. The findings suggest that, in women at least, tofu consumption may be protective against the risk of AMI. Further studies are needed to corroborate the relationship of consumption of fish and fruit to AMI risk in Japanese men and women.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Familial hypercholesterolaemia is an inherited disorder characterised by a raised blood cholesterol, the presence of xanthomatosis and premature ischaemic heart disease. The aim of treatment is the reduction of blood LDL cholesterol concentrations in order to reduce the risk of ischaemic heart disease. Current treatment is based on a cholesterol lowering diet alone or in combination with drug therapy. Many of the drugs found to be effective in treating adults with this disease are not licensed for use in children, therefore diet is the main treatment of children with familial hypercholesterolaemia. In addition to the cholesterol-lowering diet, several other dietary interventions have been suggested and consensus has yet to be reached on the most appropriate dietary treatment for children and adults with familial hypercholesterolaemia. OBJECTIVES To examine the evidence that in children and adults with familial hypercholesterolaemia, a cholesterol lowering diet is more effective at lowering cholesterol and reducing incidence of ischaemic heart disease than no intervention or than other dietary interventions. SEARCH STRATEGY We searched the Cochrane Cystic Fibrosis and Genetic Disorders Trials Register, a specialist trials register which comprises references identified from comprehensive electronic database searches, handsearching relevant journals and handsearching abstract books of conference proceedings. Additional studies were identified from handsearching the Journal of Inherited Metabolic Disease (from inception, 1978 to 2000) and from the reference lists of identified studies. SELECTION CRITERIA Randomised controlled trials (RCTs), both published and unpublished, where a cholesterol lowering diet in children and adults with familial hypercholesterolaemia has been compared to other forms of dietary treatment or to no dietary intervention. Trials which include patients with familial hypercholesterolaemia alongside patients with non-familial hypercholesterolaemia were only included if the group of familial patients was well defined and the results for these patients were available. DATA COLLECTION AND ANALYSIS Two reviewers independently assessed the trial eligibility and methodological quality and one reviewer extracted the data, with independent verification of data extraction by a colleague. MAIN RESULTS Only short term outcomes could be assessed in this review due to the length of the five eligible studies. Compliance to treatment, quality of life, mortality and evidence of ischaemic or atheromatous disease were not assessed in the studies identified. No differences were found between the cholesterol-lowering diet and all other diets for all of the short term outcomes assessed. REVIEWER'S CONCLUSIONS No conclusions can be made about the effectiveness of the cholesterol-lowering diet, or any of the other dietary interventions suggested for familial hypercholesterolaemia, due to the lack of adequate data. A large, parallel, randomised controlled trial is needed to investigate the effectiveness of the cholesterol-lowering diet and other dietary interventions for FH. It is also possible that data from trials including subjects with both familial and non-familial hypercholesterolaemia could alter the results of future updates of this review and until further evidence is available current dietary treatment of FH should continue to be observed and monitored with care.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To investigate the effect of replacing lean meat with a soy product, tofu, on coronary heart disease risk factors including serum lipoproteins, lipoprotein (a), factor VII, fibrinogen and in vitro susceptibility of LDL to oxidation. DESIGN A randomized cross over dietary intervention study. SETTING Free-living individuals studied at Deakin University. SUBJECTS Forty-five free-living healthy males aged 35 to 62 years completed the dietary intervention. Three subjects were non-compliant and excluded prior to analysis. INTERVENTIONS A diet containing 150 grams of lean meat per day was compared to a diet containing 290 grams of tofu per day in an isocaloric and isoprotein substitution. Each dietary period was one month duration. RESULTS Analysis of the seven-day diet record showed that diets were similar in energy, protein, carbohydrate, total fat, saturated and unsaturated fat, polyunsaturated to saturated fat ratio, alcohol and fiber. Total cholesterol and triglycerides were significantly lower, and in vitro LDL oxidation lag phase was significantly longer on the tofu diet compared to the meat diet. The hemostatic factors, factor VII and fibrinogen, and lipoprotein(a) were not significantly affected by the tofu diet. CONCLUSIONS The increase in LDL oxidation lag phase would be expected to be associated with a decrease in coronary heart disease risk.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Soy consumption is known to reduce plasma total cholesterol and LDL cholesterol in hypercholesterolemic subjects, but the responsible soy components and the effects in normocholesterolemic subjects remain unclear. OBJECTIVE The effects of soy isoflavone consumption on plasma total cholesterol, HDL-cholesterol, LDL-cholesterol, triacylglycerol, apolipoprotein A-I, apolipoprotein B, and lipoprotein(a) concentrations and on LDL peak particle diameter were examined in normocholesterolemic, premenopausal women. DESIGN Thirteen healthy, normocholesterolemic, free-living, premenopausal female volunteers took part in this randomized, crossover-controlled trial. Each subject acted as her own control. Three soy isoflavone intakes (control: 10.0 +/- 1.1; low: 64.7 +/- 9.4; and high: 128.7 +/- 15.7 mg/d), provided as soy protein isolate, were consumed for 3 menstrual cycles each. Total cholesterol, HDL cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, and triacylglycerol were measured over the menstrual cycle. Apolipoprotein A-I, apolipoprotein B, lipoprotein(a), and LDL peak particle diameter were evaluated in the midluteal phase. RESULTS Total cholesterol, HDL-cholesterol, and LDL-cholesterol concentrations changed significantly across menstrual cycle phases (P < 0.005). During specific phases of the cycle, the high-isoflavone diet lowered LDL cholesterol by 7.6-10.0% (P < 0.05), the ratio of total cholesterol to HDL cholesterol by 10.2% (P < 0.005), and the ratio of LDL to HDL cholesterol by 13.8% (P < 0.002). CONCLUSIONS Isoflavones significantly improved the lipid profile across the menstrual cycle in normocholesterolemic, premenopausal women. Although of small magnitude, these effects could contribute to a lower risk of developing coronary heart disease in healthy people who consume soy over many years.

Abstract
This experiment was designed to evaluate the effects of casein, soy protein, soy protein with bound phospholipids (SP), soy protein peptic hydrolysate (SPH) or soy protein peptic hydrolysate with bound phospholipids (SPHP) on the micellar solubility of cholesterol and the taurocholate binding capacity in vitro. We also evaluated the effects of various proteins on cholesterol metabolism in rats and Caco-2 cells. SPHP had a significantly greater bile acid-binding capacity than that of SPH in vitro. Micellar cholesterol solubility in vitro was significantly lower in the presence of SPHP compared to casein tryptic hydrolysate (CTH). The cholesterol micelles containing SPHP and SPH significantly suppressed cholesterol uptake by Caco-2 cells compared to the cholesterol micelles containing CTH. Consistent with these findings in the in vivo cholesterol absorption study using radioisotopes, fecal excretion of total steroids was significantly greater in rats fed the SPHP diet compared with those fed the casein, soy protein, SP and SPH diets. Serum total cholesterol was significantly lower in rats fed SPHP than in those fed casein. The concentrations of total lipids and cholesterol in liver were significantly lower in the SPHP-fed group compared with all other groups. These results suggest that the suppression of cholesterol absorption by direct interaction between cholesterol-mixed micelles and SPHP in the jejunal epithelia is part of the mechanism underlying the hypocholesterolemic action of SPHP. SPHP may also inhibit the reabsorption of bile acids in the ileum, thus lowering the serum cholesterol level.

Abstract
The dietary consumption of soy protein has been linked to a reduction in coronary heart disease and improvements in a number of related risk factors. Recent investigations have focused on isoflavone components of soy protein. The purpose of this study was to examine plasma lipids and lipoproteins, particularly LDL, with the intake of intact soy protein or casein-lactalbumin diets with and without a semipurified extract of soy, rich in isoflavones. Sixty ovariectomized cynomolgus monkeys were assigned to one of three groups fed diets containing the following: 1) casein-lactalbumin as the protein source (CAS; n = 20); 2) CAS plus a semipurified extract of soy, rich in isoflavones (ISO; n = 20); or 3) intact soy protein (SOY; n = 20) for 12 wk. Lipoproteins were fractionated by combined ultracentrifugation and HPLC. Isolated LDL particles were further subfractionated by dividing the LDL peak into three fractions for compositional analyses. The SOY group had significantly lower plasma total cholesterol, VLDL plus IDL cholesterol and LDL cholesterol, and significantly less HDL cholesterol than the CAS group. LDL particles from the SOY group had a significantly less cholesteryl ester than the CAS group. The semipurified extract of soy, rich in isoflavones, added to casein-lactalbumin protein did not have the same effects as intact soy protein on plasma lipids and lipoproteins. Other components of soy protein, either alone or in combination with isoflavones, may be involved in the effects seen in this study.

Abstract
The wide distribution of plant estrogens or 'phytoestrogens' in cereals, vegetables and medicinal plants raises questions concerning the possible health risks and benefits associated with their consumption. In this article, we provide a synopsis of the literature relating principally to the clinical effects of phytoestrogens on the diseases associated with ageing. The sources, metabolism and properties of the different phytoestrogens are also discussed. The studies included were primarily restricted to those with data pertinent to clinical practice. Our contention is that phytoestrogens are at least part of the reason why vegetarians and Asian populations have a low rate of cancer and heart disease.

Abstract
BACKGROUND In laboratory animals, the consumption of soy protein, rather than animal protein, decreases serum cholesterol concentrations, but studies in humans have been inconclusive. In this meta-analysis of 38 controlled clinical trials, we examined the relation between soy protein consumption and serum lipid concentrations in humans. METHODS We used a random-effects model to quantify the average effects of soy protein intake on serum lipids in the studies we examined and used hierarchical mixed-effects regression models to predict variation as a function of the characteristics of the studies. RESULTS In most of the studies, the intake of energy, fat, saturated fat, and cholesterol was similar when the subjects ingested control and soy-containing diets; soy protein intake averaged 47 g per day. Ingestion of soy protein was associated with the following net changes in serum lipid concentrations from the concentrations reached with the control diet: total cholesterol, a decrease of 23.2 mg per deciliter (0.60 mmol per liter); 95 percent confidence interval, 13.5 to 32.9 mg per deciliter [0.35 to 0.85 mmol per liter]), or 9.3 percent; low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol, a decrease of 21.7 mg per deciliter (0.56 mmol per liter); 95 percent confidence interval, 11.2 to 31.7 mg per deciliter [0.30 to 0.82 mmol per liter]), or 12.9 percent; and triglycerides, a decrease of 13.3 mg per deciliter (0.15 mmol per liter; 95 percent confidence interval, 0.3 to 25.7 mg per deciliter [0.003 to 0.29 mmol per liter]), or 10.5 percent. The changes in serum cholesterol and LDL cholesterol concentrations were directly related to the initial serum cholesterol concentration (P < 0.001). The ingestion of soy protein was associated with a nonsignificant 2.4 percent increase in serum concentrations of high-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol. CONCLUSIONS In this meta-analysis we found that the consumption of soy protein rather than animal protein significantly decreased serum concentrations of total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, and triglycerides without significantly affecting serum HDL cholesterol concentrations.

Abstract
Many edible plants contain natural estrogens called phytoestrogens. These compounds possess mixed estrogen agonist-antagonist properties that are organ-specific in vivo. We have focused on estrogenic soybean isoflavones because of their potential extensive dietary availability. In this article, we review the clinical and experimental evidence for the possible benefits and risks of ingestion of estrogenic isoflavones throughout the life span, and highlight areas needing further elucidation.

Abstract
Twenty-one mildly hypercholesterolemic men consumed a diet that was low in fat (< 30% of energy) and cholesterol (300 mg/d) and were given muffins containing 25 g protein + 20 g dietary fiber daily from either isolated soybean protein + soybean cotyledon fiber, isolated soybean protein + cellulose, casein + soybean cotyledon fiber or casein + cellulose. All subjects progressed through the low fat, low cholesterol baseline period, lasting 2 wk, and then through all four dietary treatments, lasting 4 wk each, according to a Latin square design. Plasma concentrations of total, LDL, HDL and VLDL cholesterol, total and VLDL triacylglycerols, and apolipoprotein A-I and B were measured at the end of each period. When data from all subjects were analyzed, dietary treatments did not influence lipemia; however, in subjects with initial total cholesterol concentrations > 5.7 mmol/L, both isolated soybean protein treatments resulted in significantly lower total cholesterol compared with the two casein treatments (P < 0.05). In addition, a negative linear relationship was observed when a subject's total or LDL cholesterol change after each of the soybean treatments was regressed against the subject's baseline cholesterol concentration (P < 0.05). Apolipoprotein A-I varied dependent on baseline cholesterol with no apparent pattern, whereas apolipoprotein B levels were not affected. Results indicate that consumption of 25 g soybean protein/d is associated with lower total cholesterol concentrations in individuals with initial cholesterol concentrations > 5.7 mmol/L.

Abstract
Familial hypercholesterolemia, one form of type IIa hyperlipidemia, usually responds poorly to standard low-lipid diets. To define the responsiveness to a soy-protein diet in this disease, one homozygous and twenty heterozygous type IIa patients were submitted to a 4-wk traditional hypocholesterolemic diet followed by 4 wk in which animal protein was substituted with texturized soy protein. Soy was then withdrawn for a further 4 wk. No significant changes in plasma lipids were observed during low-lipid diets. The soy diet, however, caused a marked decrease in total (-20.8%) and low-density-lipoprotein (-25.8%) cholesterol and in apolipoprotein B (-14.1%). The plasma cholesterol reduction was higher in patients with apolipoprotein E3/E3 or E3/E4 vs an almost negligible effect on E3/E2. These results confirm that soy-protein diets can lower cholesterol in type IIa patients with familial disease. Data on the sensitivity of patients with different apo-E isoforms agree with recent hypotheses suggesting that soy proteins may activate B,E receptors.

Abstract
After a period of stabilisation on a controlled low lipid low cholesterol diet with animal proteins a group of 16 children with familial hypercholesterolaemia were given a textured soybean protein based diet, with a similar fat composition. All the children had a highly significant reduction in total cholesterol, averaging -21.8% against the baseline after eight weeks. Compliance became less strict afterwards, but more than half of the patients have regularly continued the diet and results have been maintained for one year. Minimal changes were noted in triglyceridaemia and in high density lipoprotein cholesterol concentrations, which showed a slight rise only at the end of treatment. The children's growth during the trial was normal. In view of the psychological difficulties of prescribing treatment with drugs to children with severe hypercholesterolaemia before puberty and of the relative ineffectiveness of standard low lipid diets in this condition the soybean protein diet may offer a satisfactory alternative.
