Circular RNA: The evolving potential in the disease world

Circular RNAs (circRNAs), a new star of noncoding RNAs, are a group of endogenous RNAs that form a covalently closed circle and occur widely in the mammalian genome. Most circRNAs are conserved throughout species and frequently show stage-specific expression during various stages of tissue development. CircRNAs were a mystery discovery, as they were initially believed to be a product of splicing errors; however, subsequent research has shown that circRNAs can perform various functions and help in the regulation of splicing and transcription, including playing a role as microRNA (miRNA) sponges. With the application of high throughput next-generation technologies, circRNA hotspots were discovered. There are emerging indications that explain the association of circRNAs with human diseases, like cancers, developmental disorders, and inflammation, and circRNAs may be a new potential biomarker for the diagnosis and treatment outcome of various diseases, including cancer. After the discoveries of miRNAs and long noncoding RNAs, circRNAs are now acting as a novel research entity of interest in the field of RNA disease biology. In this review, we aim to focus on major updates on the biogeny and metabolism of circRNAs, along with their possible/established roles in major human diseases.

Plasma Circular RNAs as Biomarkers for Breast Cancer

Breast cancer (BC) is currently the most common neoplasm, the second leading cause of cancer death in women worldwide, and is a major health problem. The discovery of new biomarkers is crucial to improve our knowledge of breast cancer and strengthen our clinical approaches to diagnosis, prognosis, and follow-up. In recent decades, there has been increasing interest in circulating RNA (circRNA) as modulators of gene expression involved in tumor development and progression. The study of circulating circRNAs (ccircRNAs) in plasma may provide new non-invasive diagnostic, prognostic, and predictive biomarkers for BC. This review describes the latest findings on BC-associated ccircRNAs in plasma and their clinical utility. Several ccircRNAs in plasma have shown great potential as BC biomarkers, especially from a diagnostic point of view. Mechanistically, most of the reported BC-associated ccircRNAs are involved in the regulation of cell survival, proliferation, and invasion, mainly via MAPK/AKT signaling pathways. However, the study of circRNAs is a relatively new area of research, and a larger number of studies will be crucial to confirm their potential as plasma biomarkers and to understand their involvement in BC.

Circular RNAs in breast cancer diagnosis, treatment and prognosis

Breast cancer has surpassed lung cancer to become the most common malignancy worldwide. The incidence rate and mortality rate of breast cancer continue to rise, which leads to a great burden on public health. Circular RNAs (circRNAs), a new class of noncoding RNAs (ncRNAs), have been recognized as important oncogenes or suppressors in regulating cancer initiation and progression. In breast cancer, circRNAs have significant roles in tumorigenesis, recurrence and multidrug resistance that are mediated by various mechanisms. Therefore, circRNAs may serve as promising targets of therapeutic strategies for breast cancer management. This study reviews the most recent studies about the biosynthesis and characteristics of circRNAs in diagnosis, treatment and prognosis evaluation, as well as the value of circRNAs in clinical applications as biomarkers or therapeutic targets in breast cancer. Understanding the mechanisms by which circRNAs function could help transform basic research into clinical applications and facilitate the development of novel circRNA-based therapeutic strategies for breast cancer treatment.

Circulating circRNA: a social butterfly in tumors

Circular RNAs (circRNAs) are a class of single-stranded non-coding RNAs that form circular structures through irregular splicing or post-splicing events. CircRNAs are abnormally expressed in many cancers and regulate the occurrence and development of tumors. Circulating circRNAs are cell-free circRNAs present in peripheral blood, they are considered promising biomarkers due to their high stability. In recent years, more and more studies have revealed that circulating circRNAs participate in various cellular communication and regulate the occurrence and development of tumors, which involve many pathological processes such as tumorigenesis, tumor-related immunity, tumor angiogenesis, and tumor metastasis. Understanding the role of cell communication mediated by circulating circRNAs in tumor will further reveal the value and significance behind their use as biomarkers and potential therapeutic targets. In this review, we summarize the recent findings and provide an overview of the cell-cell communication mediated by circulating circRNAs, aiming to explore the role and application value of circulating circRNAs in tumors.

Role of circular RNA and its delivery strategies to cancer - An overview

With the passage of years and the progress of research on ribonucleic acids, the range of forms in which these molecules have been observed grows. One of them, discovered relatively recently, is circular RNA - covalently closed circles (circRNA). In recent years, there has been a huge increase in the interest of researchers in this group of molecules. It entailed a significant increase in the state of knowledge about them, which in turn caused a dramatic change in their perception. Rather than seeing circular RNAs as curiosities that represent a minor information noise in a cell or a result of RNA misprocessing, they came to be regarded as a common, essential, and potentially extremely useful group of molecules. Nevertheless, the current state of the art of circRNA is full of white cards. A lot of valuable information has been obtained from high-throughput methods to study whole transcriptomes, but many issues related to circular RNAs still need to be clarified. Presumably, each answer obtained will raise several new questions. However, circRNAs have a wealth of potential applications, including therapeutic applications.

Circ_0001667 accelerates breast cancer proliferation and angiogenesis through regulating CXCL10 expression by sponging miR-6838-5p

BACKGROUND

An increasing number of circular RNAs (circRNAs) have been shown to play an important role in the tumorigenesis of breast cancer. The aim of this study was to investigate the expression and function of circ_0001667 and its potential molecular mechanisms in breast cancer.

METHODS

The expression levels of circ_0001667, miR-6838-5p and CXC chemokine ligand 10 (CXCL10) in breast cancer tissues and cells were detected by quantitative real-time PCR. Cell counting kit-8 assay, EdU assay, flow cytometry, colony formation and tube formation assays were used to detect cell proliferation and angiogenesis. The binding relationship between miR-6838-5p and circ_0001667 or CXCL10 was predicted using the starBase3.0 database and verified by dual-luciferase reporter gene assay, RIP and RNA pulldown. Animal experiments were performed to assess the function of circ_0001667 knockdown on breast cancer tumor growth.

RESULTS

Circ_0001667 was highly expressed in breast cancer tissues and cells, and its knockdown inhibited proliferation and angiogenesis of breast cancer cells. Circ_0001667 sponged miR-6838-5p, and inhibition of miR-6838-5p reversed the inhibitory effect of silencing circ_0001667 on proliferation and angiogenesis of breast cancer cells. MiR-6838-5p targeted CXCL10, and overexpression of CXCL10 reverses the effect of miR-6838-5p overexpression on breast cancer cell proliferation and angiogenesis. In addition, circ_0001667 interference also reduced breast cancer tumor growth in vivo.

CONCLUSION

Circ_0001667 is involved in breast cancer cell proliferation and angiogenesis through regulation of the miR-6838-5p/CXCL10 axis.

Silencing of the circ-Arhgap5 RNA protects neuronal PC12 cells against injury and depends on the miR-29a-3p/Rock1 axis

Circular RNAs (circRNAs) are abundantly expressed in human central nervous system. Here, we explored the role of circ_Arhgap5 in cerebral ischemia/reperfusion (I/R)-induced nerve injury in PC12 cells and its associated mechanism. Cell proliferation ability was assessed by 5-Ethynyl-2'-deoxyuridine (Edu) assay and 3-(4,5-Dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide (MTT) assay. Flow cytometry (FCM) was applied to assess cell apoptotic rate. Cell death was analyzed by lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) assay. Oxygen-glucose deprivation and reoxygenation (OGD/R) up-regulates the expression of circRNA Rho GTPase activating protein 5 (circ_Arhgap5; mmu_circ_0000377) in PC12 cells. OGD/R exposure inhibited the proliferation and induced the apoptosis of PC12 cells, and the silence of circ_Arhgap5 attenuated OGD/R-induced injury in PC12 cells. miR-29a-3p was identified as a target of circ_Arhgap5 in PC12 cells. Circ_Arhgap5 knockdown-mediated protective effects in OGD/R-induced PC12 cells were reversed by the interference of miR-29a-3p. miR-29a-3p interacted with the 3' untranslated region (3'UTR) of Rho-associated coiled-coil-containing protein kinase 1 (Rock1), and circ_Arhgap5 can positively regulate Rock1 expression by sponging miR-29a-3p in PC12 cells. miR-29a-3p overexpression protected PC12 cells against OGD/R-induced damage by down-regulating Rock1. In conclusion, circ_Arhgap5 silencing protected PC12 cells from OGD/R-induced injury through mediating miR-29a-3p/Rock1 axis.

Circular RNAs: biology and clinical significance of breast cancer

Circular RNAs (circRNAs) are novel noncoding RNAs with covalently closed-loop structures that can regulate eukaryotic gene expression. Due to their stable structure, circRNAs are widely distributed in the cytoplasm and have important biological functions, including as microRNA sponges, RNA-binding protein conjugates, transcription regulators, and translation templates. Breast cancer is among the most common malignant cancers diagnosed in women worldwide. Despite the development of comprehensive treatments, breast cancer still has high mortality rates. Recent studies have unmasked critical roles for circRNAs in breast cancer as regulators of tumour initiation, progression, and metastasis. Further, research has revealed that some circRNAs have the potential for use as diagnostic and prognostic biomarkers in clinical practice. Herein, we review the biogenesis and biological functions of circRNAs, as well as their roles in different breast cancer subtypes. Moreover, we provide a comprehensive summary of the clinical significance of circRNAs in breast cancer. Transcriptomic analysis of succulent stem development of Chinese kale (Brassica oleracea var. alboglabra Bailey) and its synthetic allotetraploid via RNA sequencing

Chinese kale (Brassica oleracea var. alboglabra Bailey, CC) is a succulent stem vegetable in the Brassica family. Its allotetraploid (AACC) vegetable germplasm, which was synthesized via distant hybridization with the colloquially named 'yellow turnip' (B. rapa L. ssp. rapifera Matzg., AA), has a swelling stem similar to CC. To address the molecular mechanism of stem development for CC and AACC, RNA sequencing (RNA-seq) was used to investigate transcriptional regulation of their stem development at three key stages including 28 days, 42 days and the bolting stage (BS) after sowing. As a result, 32,642, 32,665, 33,816, 32,147, 32,293 and 32,275 genes were identified in six corresponding cDNA libraries. Among them, 25,459 genes were co-expressed, while 7,183, 7,206, 8,357, 6,688, 6,834 and 6,814 genes were specifically expressed. Additionally, a total of 29,222 differentially expressed genes (DEGs) were found for functional enrichment as well as many genes involved in plant hormones including gibberellin (GA), abscisic acid (ABA), cytokinin (CTK) and auxin (AUX). Based on gene expression consistency between CC and AACC, the gene families including DELLA, GID, PYR/PYL, PP2C, A-ARR and AUX/IAA might be related to stem development. Among these, eight genes including Bo00834s040, Bo5g093140, Bo6g086770, Bo9g070200, Bo7g116570, Bo3g054410, Bo7g093470 and Bo5g136600 may play important roles in stem development based on their remarkable expression levels as confirmed by qRT-PCR. These findings provide a new theoretical basis for understanding the molecular mechanism of stem development in Brassica vegetable stem breeding.

Circ_0000291 contributes to hepatocellular carcinoma tumorigenesis by binding to miR-1322 to up-regulate UBE2T

INTRODUCTION AND OBJECTIVES

Circular RNAs (circRNAs) are identified to show important regulatory functions in cancer biology. We attempted to analyze the role of circ_0000291 in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) progression and its related mechanism.

METHODS

The circular characteristic of circ_0000291 was tested using exonuclease RNase R. Cell proliferation was analyzed by 5-Ethynyl-2'-deoxyuridine (EdU) incorporation and colony formation assays. Cell apoptosis was measured by flow cytometry and a caspase 3 activity assay kit. Transwell assays were performed to analyze cell migration and invasion abilities. Sphere formation assay was conducted to analyze cell stemness. Dual-luciferase reporter and RNA-pull down assays were conducted to verify the interaction between microRNA-1322 (miR-1322) and circ_0000291 or ubiquitin conjugating enzyme E2 T (UBE2T).

RESULTS

Circ_0000291 was markedly up-regulated in HCC tissues and cell lines. HCC patients with high expression of circ_0000291 displayed a low survival rate. Circ_0000291 knockdown restrained the proliferation, migration, invasion, and stemness and induced the apoptosis of HCC cells. Circ_0000291 directly interacted with miR-1322 and negatively regulated miR-1322 expression. Circ_0000291 knockdown-mediated anti-tumor impacts in HCC cells were largely overturned by the interference of miR-1322. miR-1322 directly paired with the 3' untranslated region (3'UTR) of UBE2T, and UBE2T was negatively regulated by miR-1322. UBE2T overexpression largely reversed circ_0000291 silencing-induced effects in HCC cells. Circ_0000291 positively regulated UBE2T expression by absorbing miR-1322 in HCC cells. Circ_0000291 silencing notably reduced the tumorigenic potential in vivo.

CONCLUSION

Circ_0000291 facilitated HCC progression by targeting miR-1322/UBE2T axis, which provided novel potential biomarkers and targets for HCC patients.

Circular RNAs as Potential Biomarkers in Breast Cancer

Due to the high heterogeneity and initially asymptomatic nature of breast cancer (BC), the management of this disease depends on imaging together with immunohistochemical and molecular evaluations. These tests allow early detection of BC and patient stratification as they guide clinicians in prognostication and treatment decision-making. Circular RNAs (circRNAs) represent a class of newly identified long non-coding RNAs. These molecules have been described as key regulators of breast carcinogenesis and progression. Moreover, circRNAs play a role in drug resistance and are associated with clinicopathological features in BC. Accumulating evidence reveals a clinical interest in deregulated circRNAs as diagnostic, prognostic and predictive biomarkers. Furthermore, due to their covalently closed structure, circRNAs are highly stable and easily detectable in body fluids, making them ideal candidates for use as non-invasive biomarkers. Herein, we provide an overview of the biogenesis and pleiotropic functions of circRNAs, and report on their clinical relevance in BC.

Blood Circulating Non-Coding RNAs for the Clinical Management of Triple-Negative Breast Cancer

Triple negative breast cancer (TNBC) represents the most aggressive subtype of breast cancer, and is related to unfavorable prognosis and limited treatment strategies. Currently, there is a lack of reliable biomarkers allowing for the clinical management of TNBC. This is probably caused by a complex molecular background, leading to the development and establishment of a unique tumor phenotype. Recent studies have reported non-coding RNAs (ncRNAs) not only as the most promising class of molecular agents with a high applicability to manage human cancers, including TNBC, but also as robust and non-invasive biomarkers that are able to be monitored in blood circulation, with the application of liquid biopsy. There is a lack of papers discussing the role of blood-circulating ncRNAs as diagnostic, predictive, and prognostic biomarkers for TNBC. In this paper, we summarized the available literature reports on the utility of blood-circulating ncRNAs for TNBC management. Additionally, we supplemented this review by bioinformatics analysis, for better understanding of the role of ncRNAs' machinery in the development of a unique TNBC phenotype.

Secreted Non-Coding RNAs: Functional Impact on the Tumor Microenvironment and Clinical Relevance in Triple-Negative Breast Cancer

Triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) is a subtype of breast carcinoma characterized by poor prognosis and high rate of metastasis. Current treatment is based on chemo- and/or radiotherapy and surgery. TNBC is devoid of estrogen, progesterone and HER2 receptors. Although precision medicine has come a long way to ameliorate breast cancer disease management, targeted therapies for the treatment of TNBC patients are still limited. Mounting evidence has shown that non-coding RNAs (ncRNAs) drive many oncogenic processes at the basis of increased proliferation, invasion and angiogenesis in TNBC, strongly contributing to tumor progression and resistance to treatments. Many of these ncRNAs are secreted in the tumor microenvironment (TME) and impinge on the activity of the diverse immune and stromal cell types infiltrating the TME. Importantly, secreted ncRNAs may be detected as circulating molecules in serum/plasma from cancer patients and are emerging a promising diagnostic/therapeutic tools in TNBC. This review aims to discuss novel insights about the role of secreted circulating ncRNAs in the intercellular communication in the tumor microenvironment and their potential clinical use as diagnostic and prognostic non-invasive biomarkers in TNBC.

Aberrant long non-coding RNA cancer susceptibility 15 (CASC15) plays a diagnostic biomarker and regulates inflammatory reaction in neonatal sepsis

Neonatal sepsis (NS) is one of the important causes of neonatal death. There are many studies to confirm the role of long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) in neonatal infectious diseases. This study aimed to explore the level of cancer susceptibility 15 (CASC15) and its effect on inflammatory response in NS. Seventy-nine neonatal pneumonia (NP) patients and 80 NS patients were enrolled in this study. Reverse Transcription-quantitative PCR (RT-qPCR) was used to determine the expression levels of CASC15 and miR-144-3p. Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve was drawn to evaluate the diagnostic value of CASC15 in NS. RAW264.7 cells were stimulated with LPS to simulate the inflammatory response in NS patients, and the regulation and mechanism of CASC15 on the inflammatory response were explored in this in vitro cell model. Serum CASC15 was upregulated in NS patients, and it had the ability to distinguish NS patients from NP patients. LPS stimulation increased the expression of CASC15 and simultaneously stimulated the secretion of inflammatory cytokines, while the knockdown of CASC15 alleviated the inflammatory response induced by LPS stimulation. Besides, serum miR-144-3p was reduced in NS patients, and luciferase reporter genes showed that miR-144-3p was a direct target of CASC15. Overexpression of CASC15 may promote the inflammatory response of NS by targeted regulating the expression of miR-144-3p, which may provide us with new insights in the treatment of NS.

Circular RNA-Is the Circle Perfect?

Circular RNA (circRNA) is a distinct class of non-coding RNA produced, in principle, using a back-splicing mechanism, conserved during evolution, with increased stability and a tissue-dependent expression. Circular RNA represents a functional molecule with roles in the regulation of transcription and splicing, microRNA sponge, and the modulation of protein–protein interaction. CircRNAs are involved in essential processes of life such as apoptosis, cell cycle, and proliferation. Due to the regulatory role (upregulation/downregulation) in pathogenic mechanisms of some diseases (including cancer), its potential roles as a biomarker or therapeutic target in these diseases were studied. This review focuses on the importance of circular RNA in cancer.

Plasma circRNAs as Biomarkers in Cancer

The incidence and mortality of cancer are increasing each year. At present, the sensitivity and specificity of the blood biomarkers that were used in clinical practice are low, which make the detection rate of cancer decrease. With advances in bioinformatics and technology, some non-coding RNA as biomarkers can be easily detected through some traditional and new technologies. Circular RNAs (circRNAs) are non-coding RNAs, that is, they do not encode proteins, and have important regulatory functions. CircRNAs can remain stable in bodily fluids, such as in saliva, blood, urine, and especially plasma. The difference in the expression of plasma circRNAs between cancer patients and normal people may suggest that plasma circRNAs may play an important role in the occurrence and development of cancer. In this review, we summarized the clinical effect of plasma circRNAs in several high-incidence cancers. CircRNAs may be effective biomarkers for tumour diagnosis, treatment selection and prognosis evaluation.

CircRNAs as promising biomarker in diagnosis of breast cancer: An updated meta-analysis

Background

Circular RNAs (circRNAs) have been identified to be involved in onset and progression of multiple malignant tumors. The present study aimed to systematically evaluate the diagnostic values of circRNAs in breast cancer.

Methods

The PubMed, Web of Science, Embase, CNKI, and Wanfang online databases were searched for the relevant studies before December 31, 2020. Statistical analysis of the diagnostic tests was performed based on STATA 16.0, Meta‐DiSc 1.4, and RevMan 5.3 software. The threshold effect and publication bias were measured by the Spearman correlation and Deeks’ funnel plot asymmetry test, respectively.

Results

Twenty‐one studies from 13 articles were included in this meta‐analysis. The pooled sensitivity and specificity were 0.77 and 0.71, respectively. The pooled positive likelihood ratio (PLR), negative likelihood ratio (NLR), and overall diagnostic odds ratio (DOR) were 2.6, 0.33, and 8, respectively. Furthermore, the area under the summary receiver operator characteristic curve was 0.80. In addition, down‐regulated circRNAs achieved a diagnostic performance higher than up‐regulated circRNAs, with area under curve (AUC) values of 0.81 and 0.74, respectively. Studies based on tissue samples presented better diagnostic accuracy than those based on plasma samples, with AUC values of 0.80 and 0.67. In addition, two circRNAs, including circ_0001073 and circTADA2A‐E5/E6, showed higher diagnostic values, with AUC value of 0.990 and 0.937, respectively. According to the results of meta‐regression, the case size (p<0.05) might be the source of the heterogeneity.

Conclusion

CircRNAs exhibited a high diagnostic value for breast cancer and may function as potential diagnostic biomarkers for breast cancer.

CircRPPH1 serves as a sponge for miR-296-5p to enhance progression of breast cancer by regulating FOXP4 expression

Circular RNAs (circRNAs) have been demonstrated to play critical roles in the initiation and development of breast cancer (BC). This study aimed to uncover the regulatory roles of a novel circRNA, circRPPH1 (hsa_circ_0000514) in BC progression. CircRPPH1, miR-296-5p and FOXP4 levels were determined by qRT-PCR. CircRPPH1 stability was detected in response to ribonuclease (RNase) R digestion and actinomycin D treatment. Cell growth, migration and invasion were evaluated using various functional experiments. Protein levels of proliferating cell nuclear antigen (PCNA), matrix metalloproteinase 9 (MMP-9), hexokinase 2 (HK2) and forkhead box protein 4 (FOXP4) were measured by Western blotting. Metabolic alterations of BC cells were evaluated using commercial kits. The interaction between miR-296-5p and circRPPH1/FOXP4 was assessed using dual-luciferase assay, RNA pull-down, and RNA immunoprecipitation (RIP) assay. The in vivo tumorigenesis was assessed in nude mice. According to the results, up-regulation of circRPPH1 was closely correlated with the poor prognosis of BC patients. Functional experiments showed that knockdown of circRPPH1 repressed BC cell growth, migration, invasion, glycolysis, and in vivo tumor growth. In addition, circRPPH1 could sponge miR-296-5p to enhance FOXP4 expression in BC cells. miR-296-5p inhibition or FOXP4 overexpression restored the malignant properties of circRPPH1-silenced BC cells. Thus, circRPPH1 promoted BC malignant progression through regulating miR-296-5p/FOXP4 axis, indicating a possible novel therapeutic strategy involving circRNA for BC patients.

The Biogenesis and Functions of circRNAs and Their Roles in Breast Cancer

Recent statistics show that breast cancer is among the most frequent cancers in clinical practice. It is also the second-leading cause of cancer-related deaths among women worldwide. CircRNAs are a new class of endogenous regulatory RNA molecules whose 5’ end and 3’ end are connected together to form a covalently closed single-stranded loop by back-splicing. CircRNAs present the advantages of disease-specific expression and excellent expression stability, and they can modulate gene expression at posttranscriptional and transcriptional levels. CircRNAs are abnormally expressed in multiple cancers, such as breast cancer, and drive the initiation and progression of cancer. In this review, we describe current knowledge about the functions of circRNAs and generalize their roles in various aspects of breast cancer, including cell proliferation, cell cycle, apoptosis, invasion and metastasis, autophagy, angiogenesis, drug resistance, and tumor immunity, and their prognostic and diagnostic value. This may add to a better understanding of the functions and roles of circRNAs in breast cancer, which may become new diagnostic and predictive biomarkers of breast cancer.

Upregulated hsa_circ_0000129 expression promotes proliferation and migration of breast cancer cells

Circular RNAs (circRNAs) are considered potential biomarkers in the pathogenesis and detection of several types of cancer. The present study aimed to investigate the role of hsa_circ_0000129 in the pathogenesis and molecular mechanism underlying breast cancer. A total of 68 pairs of breast cancer and corresponding paracancerous tissue samples, three different breast cancer cell lines (MCF-7, MDA-MB-231 and MDA-MB-468) and a normal human breast cell line (MCF-10A) were used to investigate the expression of hsa_circ_0000129. The effect of hsa_circ_0000129 on cell proliferation, migration and colony formation was assessed in MCF-7 and MDA-MB-468 cells, along with the expression of enhancer of zeste homolog 2 (EZH2). The results demonstrated that hsa_circ_0000129 expression was significantly higher in breast cancer tissues compared with normal tissues. In addition, high hsa_circ_0000129 expression was significantly associated with lymph node metastasis and a higher tumor-node-metastasis stage. Comparisons between the breast cancer cell lines (MCF-7, MDA-MB-231 and MDA-MB-468) and MCF-10A cells indicated similar results. MCF-7 cells overexpressed with hsa_circ_0000129 significantly increased cell proliferation, migration and colony formation compared with the negative control group, the effects of which were reversed following hsa_circ_0000129 knockdown in MDA-MB-468 cells. Furthermore, EZH2 expression was positively associated with hsa_circ_0000129 expression. Taken together, the results of the present study suggest that hsa_circ_0000129 may represent a promising prognostic biomarker for breast cancer. In addition, the role of hsa_circ_0000129 in breast cancer cell lines indicates a mechanism for tumorigenesis, as well as a potent target for the treatment of malignant progression.
