Analysis of acupoint selection and prescription rules of acupuncture for treatment of stable angina pectoris based on a Traditional Chinese Medicine inheritance calculation platform: A systematic review

The use of acupuncture to treat stable angina pectoris is increasing popularity. Based on the prevalence of this treatment over the past 20 years, the rule of acupoint selection and prescription were summarized in this study. The China National Knowledge Infrastructure, China Academic Journal Database, Chinese Science and Technology Periodical Database, PubMed and Web of Science were used for literature search clinical studies on acupuncture in the treatment of stable angina pectoris conducted over the past 20 years were identified, 225 studies were included. Prescriptions were entered into the Traditional Chinese Medicine heritage calculation platform and association rule analysis and complex entropy clustering analysis were performed. Of the sixty-seven acupoints were regularly used and PC6, BL15 and RN17 were the most common. Commonly used meridians were the foot sun bladder meridian, Renmai and hand Shaoyin pericardium meridian; Get the basic prescription of PC6, RN17 and BL15and have two new prescriptions: BL15, ST36 and GB39; DU10, DU11 and RN17. All acupoints act on the heart through neural regulation mechanism. There are many clinical practice guidelines worldwide for writing acupuncture into the recommended therapy. Acupuncture has a clear therapeutic effect on stable angina pectoris. In the treatment of stable angina pectoris, all acupoints directly or indirectly act on the heart, dredge meridians and relieve angina symptoms.

Bioinformatics/network topology analysis of acupuncture in the treatment of COVID-19: response to methodological issues

Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is a global pandemic and there is an urgent need to discover the therapy for COVID-19. In our original article, we first obtained the target proteins of acupuncture and related target genes of COVID-19 by searching English and Chinese databases, then Gene Ontology biological processes and enrichment analysis were performed on the overlapping targets of acupuncture with COVID-19. Moreover, the compound-target and compound-disease-target network was constructed. This is an innovative attempt to predict the potential benefits of acupuncture treatment for COVID-19. Acupuncture as an Adjunctive Treatment for Post-stroke Epilepsy: Protocol for a Randomized Controlled Trial

Background: Acupuncture has been clinically used to treat epilepsy after stroke. However, most of the current clinical studies are observational studies, and there are few well-designed randomized controlled trials (RCTs). Hence, we designed a multicentre RCT to assess the advantages and efficacy of acupuncture for post-stroke epilepsy (PSE). Methods/Design: This is a two-arm, parallel, participants-blinded and assessor-blinded and multicentre RCT. A total of 120 patients with PSE aged from 18 to 75 years will be randomly assigned to two groups (routine treatment plus acupuncture group and routine treatment plus sham acupuncture group) at a 1:1 ratio. The participants will perform acupuncture or sham acupuncture treatment three times a week and be ongoing 8-week treatment. The primary endpoint is the proportion of seizure-free patients. A safety profile will be established. We will record adverse events for the safety evaluation. Discussion: The study will provide high-quality clinical evidence on the effectiveness and safety of acupuncture for treating patients with epilepsy after stroke. Is acupuncture effective in the treatment of COVID-19 related symptoms? Based on bioinformatics/network topology strategy

Acupuncture is an important part of Chinese medicine that has been widely used in the treatment of inflammatory diseases. During the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) epidemic, acupuncture has been used as a complementary treatment for COVID-19 in China. However, the underlying mechanism of acupuncture treatment of COVID-19 remains unclear. Based on bioinformatics/topology, this paper systematically revealed the multi-target mechanisms of acupuncture therapy for COVID-19 through text mining, bioinformatics, network topology, etc. Two active compounds produced after acupuncture and 180 protein targets were identified. A total of 522 Gene Ontology terms related to acupuncture for COVID-19 were identified, and 61 pathways were screened based on the Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes. Our findings suggested that acupuncture treatment of COVID-19 was associated with suppression of inflammatory stress, improving immunity and regulating nervous system function, including activation of neuroactive ligand–receptor interaction, calcium signaling pathway, cancer pathway, viral carcinogenesis, Staphylococcus aureus infection, etc. The study also found that acupuncture may have additional benefits for COVID-19 patients with cancer, cardiovascular disease and obesity. Our study revealed for the first time the multiple synergistic mechanisms of acupuncture on COVID-19. Acupuncture may play an active role in the treatment of COVID-19 and deserves further promotion and application. These results may help to solve this pressing problem currently facing the world.
