Abstract
BACKGROUND Exosomes have emerged as pivotal mediators in modulating physiological and pathological processes implicated in osteoporosis (OP) through their distinctive mode of intracellular communication. The use of exosomes has evoked considerable interest, catalyzing a surge in research endeavors on a global scale. This study endeavors to scrutinize contemporary landscapes and burgeoning trends in this realm. METHODS The Web of Science Core Collection was used to retrieve publications on exosomes therapy for OP within the time frame of January 1, 2004 to December 31, 2023. The bibliometric methodology was applied to study and index the collected data. VOSviewer and citespace software were used to conduct visualization, co-authorship, co-occurrence, and publication trend analyses of exosome therapy in OP. RESULTS A total of 610 publications (443 articles and 167 reviews) from 51 countries and 911 institutions were included in this study. Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Central South University, Sichuan University, and Zhejiang University are leading research institutions in this field. Stem Cell Research Therapy published the highest number of articles and has emerged as the most cited journal. Of the 4077 scholars who participated in the study, Xie, Hui, Zhang, Yan, Tan, and Yi-Juan had the largest number of articles. Furthermore, according to the cluster analysis of external keywords, future research hotspots can be categorized into 3 directions: research status of exosomes for the treatment of OP, treatment of OP through exosome-regulated signaling pathways, and exosomes as targeted drug delivery systems. CONCLUSION This study suggests that the number of future publications on exosome therapy for OP will increase, with a focus on fundamental investigations into drug-loading capacities and molecular mechanisms. In summary, this study presents the first systematic bibliometric analysis of exosome therapy publications in OP, providing an objective and comprehensive overview of the field and a valuable reference for researchers in this domain.

Abstract
Exosomes, as nanoscale extracellular vesicles (EVs), are secreted by all types of cells to facilitate intercellular communication in living organisms. After being taken up by neighboring or distant cells, exosomes can alter the expression levels of target genes in recipient cells and thereby affect their pathophysiological outcomes depending on payloads encapsulated therein. The functions and mechanisms of exosomes in cardiovascular diseases have attracted much attention in recent years and are thought to have cardioprotective and regenerative potential. This review summarizes the biogenesis and molecular contents of exosomes and details the roles played by exosomes released from various cells in the progression and recovery of cardiovascular disease. The review also discusses the current status of traditional exosomes in cardiovascular tissue engineering and regenerative medicine, pointing out several limitations in their application. It emphasizes that some of the existing emerging industrial or bioengineering technologies are promising to compensate for these shortcomings, and the combined application of exosomes and biomaterials provides an opportunity for mutual enhancement of their performance. The integration of exosome-based cell-free diagnostic and therapeutic options will contribute to the further development of cardiovascular regenerative medicine.

Abstract
Mesenchymal Stem Cells, mesodermal origin and multipotent stem cells, have ability to differentiate into vascular endothelial cells. The cells are squamous in morphology, inlining, and protecting blood vessel tissue, as well as maintaining homeostatic conditions. ECs are essential in vascularization and blood vessels formation. The differentiation process, generally carried out in 2D culture systems, were relied on growth factors induction. Therefore, an artificial extracellular matrix with relevant mechanical properties is essential to build 3D culture models. Various 3D fabrication techniques, such as hydrogel-based and fibrous scaffolds, scaffold-free, and co-culture to endothelial cells were reviewed and summarized to gain insights. The obtained MSCs-derived ECs are shown by the expression of endothelial gene markers and tubule-like structure. In order to mimicking relevant vascular tissue, 3D-bioprinting facilitates to form more complex microstructures. In addition, a microfluidic chip with adequate flow rate allows medium perfusion, providing mechanical cues like shear stress to the artificial vascular vessels.

Abstract
Acute lung injury (ALI) and acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) are life-threatening diseases in critically ill patients. Although pathophysiology of ALI/ARDS has been investigated in many studies, effective therapeutic strategies are still limited. Mesenchymal stem cell (MSC)-based therapy is emerging as a promising therapeutic intervention for patients with ALI. During the last two decades, researchers have focused on the efficacy and mechanism of MSC application in ALI animal models. MSC derived from variant resources exhibited therapeutic effects in preclinical studies of ALI with different mechanisms. Based on this, clinical studies on MSC treatment in ALI/ARDS has been tried recently, especially in COVID-19 caused lung injury. Emerging clinical trials of MSCs in treating COVID-19-related conditions have been registered in past two years. The advantages and potential of MSCs in the defense against COVID-19-related ALI or ARDS have been confirmed. This review provides a brief overview of recent research progress in MSC-based therapies in preclinical study and clinical trials in ALI treatment, as well as the underlying mechanisms.

Abstract
In the last few decades, mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs)-based regenerative therapies in clinical applications have gradually become a hot topic due to their long-term self-renewal and multilineage differentiation ability. In this scenario, placenta (p) has been considered as a good source of MSCs. As a tissue of fetal origin with abundant number of stem cells compared to other sources, their non-invasive acquisition, strong immunosuppression, and lack of ethical concerns make placenta an indispensable source of MSC in stem cell research and therapy. The mesenchymal stem cells were derived from human term placenta (p-MSCs) in xenofree condition using platelet lysate (PL) as a suitable alternative to fetal bovine serum (FBS). Upon isolation, p-MSCs showed plastic adherence with spindle-shaped, fibroblast-like morphology under microscope. p-MSCs flourished well in PL-containing media. Immunophenotyping showed classical MSC markers (> 90%) and lack expression of hematopoietic and HLA-DR (< 1%). Surprisingly, differentiation study showed differentiation of p-MSCs to mature adipocytes in both induced cells and control (spontaneous differentiation), as observed via oil red staining. This is in line with gene expression data where both control and induced cells were positive for visfatin and leptin. Thus, we propose that p-MSCs can be used for clinical applications in the treatment of various chronic and degenerative diseases.

Abstract
Background Osteosarcoma (OS) is the most common bone malignant tumor in children and adolescents. Recent research indicates that non-coding RNAs (ncRNAs) have been associated with OS occurrence and development, with significant progress made in this field. However, there is no intelligent structure prediction and literature visualization analysis in this research field. From the perspective of intelligent knowledge structure construction and bibliometrics, this study will comprehensively review the role of countries, institutions, journals, authors, literature citation relationships and subject keywords in the field of ncRNAs in OS. Based on this analysis, we will systematically analyze the characteristics of the knowledge structure of ncRNAs in OS disease research and identify the current research hotspots and trends. Methods The Web of Science Core Collection (WoSCC) database was searched for articles on ncRNAs in OS between 2001 and 2023. This bibliometric analysis was performed using VOSviewers, CiteSpace, and Pajek. Results This study involved 15,631 authors from 2,631 institutions across 57 countries/regions, with a total of 3,642 papers published in 553 academic journals. China has the highest number of published papers in this research field. The main research institutions include Nanjing Medical University (n = 129, 3.54%), Shanghai Jiao Tong University (n = 128, 3.51%), Zhengzhou University (n = 110, 3.02%), and China Medical University (n = 109, 2.99%). Oncology Letters (n =139, 3.82%), European Review for Medical Pharmacological Sciences (120, 3.31%), and Molecular Medicine Reports (n = 95, 2.61%) are the most popular journals in this field, with Oncotarget being the most co-cited journal (Co-Citation = 4,268). Wei Wang, Wei Liu, and Zhenfeng Duan published the most papers, with Wang Y being the most co-cited author. "miRNA", "lncRNA" and "circRNA" are the main focuses of ncRNAs in OS studies. Key themes include "migration and invasion", "apoptosis and proliferation", "prognosis", "biomarkers" and "chemoresistance". Since 2020, hotspots and trends in ncRNA research in OS include "tumor microenvironment", "immune" and "exosome". Conclusion This study represents the first comprehensive bibliometric analysis of the knowledge structure and development of ncRNAs in OS. These findings highlight current research hotspots and frontier directions, offering valuable insights for future studies on the role of ncRNAs in OS.

Abstract
Objective "Metabolism affects function" is the consensus of researchers at present. It has potential clinical application value to study the effects of regulating glutamine (Gln) metabolism on diabetes physiology or pathology. Our research aimed to summarize the latest research progress, frontier hot topics and future development trends in this field from the perspective of scientometrics. Methods Relevant literatures and reviews were obtained from the Web of Science (WoS) between January 1, 2001 and May 31, 2022. An online analysis platform of bibliometrics, CiteSpace, and VOS viewer software were used to generate visual knowledge network graphs, including publication countries, institutions and authors partnership analysis, co-occurrence analysis, co-citation analysis, as well as citations and keywords burst detection to acquire research trends and hotspots. Results Our results showed that a total of 945 publications in the WoS database met the analysis requirements, with articles being the main type. The overall characteristics showed an increasing trend in the number of publications and citations. The United States was leading the way in this research and was a hub for aggregating collaborations across countries. Vanderbilt University delivered high-quality impact with the most published articles. DeBerardinis, RJ in this field was the most representative author and his main research contents were Gln metabolism and mitochondrial glutaminolysis. Significantly, there was a relative lack of collaboration between institutions and authors. In addition, "type 2 diabetes", "glutamine", "metabolism", "gene expression" and "metabolomics" were the keywords categories with high frequency in co-citation references and co-occurrence cluster keywords. Analysis of popular keywords burst detection showed that "branched chain", "oxidative phosphorylation", "kinase", "insulin sensitivity", "tca cycle", "magnetic resonance spectroscopy" and "flux analysis" were new research directions and emerging methods to explore the link between Gln metabolism and diabetes. Overall, exploring Gln metabolism showed a gradual upward trend in the field of diabetes. Conclusion This comprehensive scientometric study identified the general outlook for the field and provided valuable guidance for ongoing research. Strategies to regulate Gln metabolism hold promise as a novel target to treat diabetes, as well as integration and intersection of multidisciplinary provides cooperation strategies and technical guarantees for the development of this field.

Abstract
There is a significant relationship between intestinal polyps and colorectal cancer, and in recent years, research on intestinal polyps has been rapidly developing around the world. However, there is still a lack of adequate quantification and analysis of publications in this field. The aim of this study was to perform a comprehensive bibliometric analysis of publications related to intestinal polyps over the past 20 years. To enhance the understanding of current research hotspots and potential trends, and to point out the direction of future research. Publications related to intestinal polyps were retrieved from the Science Citation Index Expanded in Web of Science Core Collection. the Bibliometric online analysis platform (https://bibliometric.com/app), the Bibliometrix Package, and the CiteSpace are used for bibliometric analysis and visualization, including the overall range of annual output and annual citations, country-region analysis, author and institution analysis, core journal analysis, reference and keyword analysis. Prior to 2017, the amount of research on intestinal polyps was slow to grow, but it picked up speed after that year. In 1019 journals, 4280 papers on intestinal polyps were published in English. The journal with the highest productivity was Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (189, 4.42%). United States (1124, 26.26%), which is also the hub of collaboration in this subject, was the most productive nation. Mayo Clinic (n = 70, 1.64%) is the most productive institution. Intestinal microbiota, endoscopic mucosal resection, gut microbiota, deep learning, tea polyphenol, insulin resistance and artificial intelligence were current hot subjects in the field. Studies of intestinal polyps increased significantly after 2017. The United States contributed the largest number of publications. Countries and institutions were actively cooperating with one another. artificial intelligence is currently an emerging topic.

Abstract
To evaluate the temporal and spatial distribution of the knowledge network about tumor microenvironment and prognoses and explore new research hot spots and trends. Articles and reviews on tumor microenvironment and prognoses in the Web of Science journal from January 1999 to April 2022 were included. We used the CiteSpace and VOSviewer software to analyze the knowledge network composed of journals, institutions, countries, authors, and keywords. Frontiers in Immunology, Cancers, and Frontiers in Oncology have published more than 10% of articles in this field. China and the United States have contributed the most articles. Fudan University and Sun Yat-Sen University are the most active institutions. The authors in this field work closely; Zhang Wei and Douglas have made outstanding contributions. The three main research areas of tumor microenvironment and prognoses are microenvironment, prognosis, and immunotherapy. Until 2020, the main keywords were endothelial growth factor and adhesion. In the past three years, survival analysis, immune cell infiltration, and prediction model have been used. It can be seen that the focus in this field has shifted from tumor cell behavior and directly related molecules to prognosis prediction and non-tumor cells in the microenvironment. The future research trend may be to study the changes in the tumor microenvironment to predict the prognosis and guide the treatment. VOSviewer, CiteSpace, and Microsoft Excel 2019 were used to conduct a comprehensive visual analysis of the research on tumor environment and prognoses and provide valuable reference materials for researchers.

Abstract
Background Abnormal cardiac metabolism is a key factor in the development of cardiovascular diseases. Consequently, there has been considerable emphasis on researching and developing drugs that regulate metabolism. This study employed bibliometric methods to comprehensively and objectively analyze the relevant literature, offering insights into the knowledge dynamics in this field. Methods The data source for this study was the Web of Science Core Collection (WoSCC), from which the collected data were imported into bibliometric software for analysis. Results The United States was the leading contributor, accounting for 38.33 % of publications. The University of Washington and Damian J. Tyler were the most active institution and author, respectively. The American Journal of Physiology-Heart and Circulatory Physiology, Journal of Molecular and Cellular Cardiology, Cardiovascular Research, Circulation Research, and American Journal of Physiology-Endocrinology and Metabolism were highly influential journals that published numerous high-quality articles on cardiac metabolism. Common keywords in this research area included heart failure, insulin resistance, skeletal muscle, mitochondria, as well as topic words such as cardiac metabolism, fatty acid oxidation, glucose metabolism, and myocardial metabolism. Co-citation analysis has shown that research on heart failure and in vitro modeling of cardiovascular disease has gained prominence in recent years and making it a research hotspot. Conclusion Research on cardiac metabolism is steadily growing, with a specific focus on heart failure and the interplay between mitochondrial dysfunction, insulin resistance, and cardiac metabolism. An emerging trend in this field involves the enhancement of maturation in human induced pluripotent stem cell-derived cardiomyocyte (hiPSC-CM) through the manipulation of cardiac metabolism.

Abstract
As a common chronic liver disease, nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) has attracted increasing attention in the past decade. Nevertheless, there are few bibliometric analyses that systematically study this field as a whole. This paper explores the latest research progress and future research trends of NAFLD through the method of bibliometric analysis. The articles related to NAFLD, published from 2012 to 2021 in the Web of Science Core Collections, were searched on February 21, 2022, using relevant keywords. Two different scientometrics software tools were used to conduct the knowledge maps of NAFLD research field. A total of 7975 articles on NAFLD research were included. From 2012 to 2021, the publications related to NAFLD increased by year. China ranked on the top of the list with 2043 publications, and the University of California System emerged as the premier institution in this field. PLOs One, Journal of Hepatology and Scientific Reports became the prolific journals in this research field. Co-cited reference analysis revealed the landmark literature in this research field. In terms of potential hotspots, the burst keywords analysis revealed that liver fibrosis stage, sarcopenia, and autophagy will become the focus of future NAFLD research. The annual output of the global publications in the field of NAFLD research showed a strong upward trend. Research in the field of NAFLD in China and America is more mature than in other countries. Classic literature lays the foundation for research, and multi-field studies provide the new development directions. And besides, fibrosis stage, sarcopenia and autophagy research are the hot spots and frontiers of this field.

Abstract
Background Immunosenescence, an age-related deficit in immunity, associated with multiple disorders and making the successful aging a challenge. Although nearly 4000 articles have been published, only few review articles have summarized the research status. In order to better understand the most recent advances, hotspots and development trends in immunosenescence, it is very necessary to conduct a comprehensive bibliometric analysis. Hence, commonly used bibliometric analysis software CiteSpace and VOSviewer were employed to conduct a quantitative analysis and critical evaluation of publications in this study. Methods Immunosenescence publications were screened from the Web of Science Core Collection (WoSCC). Microsoft Excel 2021, CiteSpace 5.8.R3, and VOSviewer 1.6.17 were used for bibliometric study. Results A total of 3875 publications were retrieved from WoSCC. After screening by document type (article or review) (352 publications were excluded) and language of English (85 were excluded), 3438 studies were finally used for bibliometric analysis. The literature on immunosenescence had been continuously growing since 1991, and by 2020 it has skyrocketed 312 publications from 240 in 2019. USA (1111 publications, 35.01%) was the leading country of publications, followed by ITALY (379, 11.94%) and ENGLAND (366, 11.53%). Of the authors, Pawelec G from the Tubingen University of GERMANY contributed the greatest articles (93 publications). All the keywords could be divided into five clusters, and additional potent visualization bursts revealed that "gut microbiota," "health," "dysfunction," and "nivolumab" were the active hotspots presently. Conclusion Based on the current data, we firstly concluded that there will be a dramatically rising publications on immunosenescence, and research teams from USA or GERMANY might be the best chooses for collaboration. Moreover, We particularly emphasized the development potential of mechanism and intervening strateges like "gut microbiota" and "nivolumab" in immunosenescence. We hope to provide new ideas for promoting the basic research and clinical application of immunosenescence.

Abstract
Background Cardiovascular tissue engineering (CTE) is a promising technique to treat incurable cardiovascular diseases, such as myocardial infarction and ischemic cardiomyopathy. Plenty of studies related to CTE have been published in the last 30 years. However, an analysis of the research status, trends, and potential directions in this field is still lacking. The present study applies a bibliometric analysis to reveal CTE research trends and potential directions. Methods On 5 August 2022, research articles and review papers on CTE were searched from the Web of Science Core Collection with inclusion and exclusion criteria. Publication trends, research directions, and visual maps in this field were obtained using Excel (Microsoft 2009), VOSviewer, and Citespace software. Results A total of 2,273 documents from 1992 to 2022 were included in the final analysis. Publications on CTE showed an upward trend from 1992 [number of publications (Np):1] to 2021 (Np:165). The United States (Np: 916, number of citations: 152,377, H-index: 124) contributed the most publications and citations in this field. Research on CTE has a wide distribution of disciplines, led by engineering (Np: 788, number of citations: 40,563, H-index: 105). "Functional maturation" [red cluster, average published year (APY): 2018.63, 30 times], "cell-derived cardiomyocytes" (red cluster, APY: 2018.43, 46 times), "composite scaffolds" (green cluster, APY: 2018.54, 41 times), and "maturation" (red cluster, APY: 2018.17, 84 times) are the main emerging keywords in this area. Conclusion Research on CTE is a hot research topic. The United States is a dominant player in CTE research. Interdisciplinary collaboration has played a critical role in the progress of CTE. Studies on functional maturation and the development of novel biologically relevant materials and related applications will be the potential research directions in this field.

Abstract
Objective Nutrient management and lifestyle changes are the frontlines of treatment for all pregnant women diagnosed with Gestational Diabetes Mellitus (GDM). This study aimed to identify the global research architecture, trends, and hotpots of GDM and nutrition. Methods We obtained publications from the sub-databases of Science Citation Index Expanded and Social Science Citation Index sourced from the Web of Science Core Collection database on January 4, 2022, using publication years between 2011 and 2021. CiteSpace software, VOSviewer, and Microsoft Excel 2019 were used to conduct the bibliometric analyses. Results A growing publication trend was observed for GDM and nutrition, and this field has great potential. More GDM and nutrition research has been conducted in developed countries than developing countries. The top three authors with a high publication frequency, co-citations, and a good h-index were from the United States. There were the four studies of randomized controlled trials (RCTs) or meta-analyses of RCTs, as well as one review in the top five items of cited literature. Keywords were categorized into four clusters based on the keywords visualization. Conclusion It is important to strengthen the collaboration between nations of different economies to produce more high-quality research on GDM and nutrition. It may be beneficial to further study the etiology, diagnosis, and treatment of GDM based on current results to provide a new perspective on GDM and nutrition.

Abstract
BACKGROUND NETosis is a critical innate immune mechanism of neutrophils that contributes to the accelerated progression of autoimmune diseases, thrombosis, cancer, and coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). This study qualitatively and quantitatively analyzed the relevant literature by bibliometric methods in order to provide a more comprehensive and objective view of the knowledge dynamics in the field. METHODS The literature on NETosis was downloaded from the Web of Science Core Collection, analyzed with VOSviewer, CiteSpace, and Microsoft for co-authorship, co-occurrence, and co-citation analysis. RESULTS In the field of NETosis, the United States was the most influential countries. Harvard University was the most active institutions. Mariana J. Kaplan and Brinkmann V were, respectively, the most prolific and most co-cited authors. Frontiers in Immunology, Journal of Immunology, Plos One, Blood, Science, Journal of Cell Biology, and Nature Medicine were the most influential journals. The top 15 keywords are associated with immunological and NETosis formation mechanisms. The keywords with the strongest burst detection were mainly related to COVID-19 (coronavirus, ACE2, SARS coronavirus, cytokine storm, pneumonia, neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio), and cancer (circulating tumor cell). CONCLUSION Research on NETosis is currently booming. The mechanism of NETosis and its role in innate immunity, autoimmune diseases, especially systemic lupus erythematosus and rheumatoid arthritis, and thrombosis are the focus of research in the field of NETosis. A future study will concentrate on the function of NETosis in COVID-19 and recurrent metastasis of cancer.

Abstract
Nanoparticles have broad prospects and profound academic significance in cardiovascular diseases. This study aimed to comprehensively summarize the global scientific achievements of nanoparticles in cardiovascular diseases research. Articles on the application of nanoparticles in cardiovascular diseases published from 2002 to 2021 were retrieved from the science citation index expanded of the Web of Science Core Collection, and knowledge maps were generated by Cite Space, VOS viewer, and Hist Cite for further bibliometric analysis. A total of 4321 records were retrieved, and only reviews and articles were retained with a total of 4258 studies. The number of publications on nanoparticles in the cardiovascular field has steadily increased from 2002 to 2021. China and the US contribute the most to this field, producing nearly all the most influential authors and institutions in the top 10 list. The Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences and Harvard University have obtained many high-quality research results. Targeted drug delivery via nanoparticles, myocardial infarction and atherosclerosis are research hotspots. This is the first time to analyze the application of nanoparticles in the cardiovascular field by using multiple bibliometric software. This study provides evidence for researchers to understand the hotspots and directions in this area.

Abstract
Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) possess the capacity for self-renewal and multipotency. The traditional approach to manipulating MSC's fate choice predominantly relies on biochemical stimulation. Accumulating evidence also suggests the role of physical input in MSCs differentiation. Therefore, investigating mechanotransduction at the molecular level and related to tissue-specific cell functions sheds light on the responses secondary to mechanical forces. In this review, a new frontier aiming to optimize the cultural parameters was illustrated, i.e. spatial boundary condition, which recapitulates in vivo physiology and facilitates the investigations of cellular behavior. The concept of mechanical memory was additionally addressed to appreciate how MSCs store imprints from previous culture niches. Besides, different types of forces as physical stimuli were of interest based on the association with the respective signaling pathways and the differentiation outcome. The downstream mechanoreceptors and their corresponding effects were further pinpointed. The cardiovascular system or immune system may share similar mechanisms of mechanosensing and mechanotransduction; for example, resident stem cells in a vascular wall and recruited MSCs in the bloodstream experience mechanical forces such as stretch and fluid shear stress. In addition, baroreceptors or mechanosensors of endothelial cells detect changes in blood flow, pass over signals induced by mechanical stimuli and eventually maintain arterial pressure at the physiological level. These mechanosensitive receptors transduce pressure variation and regulate endothelial barrier functions. The exact signal transduction is considered context dependent but still elusive. In this review, we summarized the current evidence of how mechanical stimuli impact MSCs commitment and the underlying mechanisms. Future perspectives are anticipated to focus on the application of cardiovascular bioengineering and regenerative medicine.

Abstract
Background There is growing emphasis on the cardiotoxicity research over the past 12 years. To look for the hotspots evolution and to explore the emerging trends in the field of cardiotoxicity, publications related to cardiotoxicity were acquired from the Web of Science Core Collection on August 2, 2022. Methods We used the CiteSpace 5.8 R3 and VOSviewer 1.6.18 to perform bibliometric and knowledge-map analysis. Results A total of 8,074 studies by 39,071 authors from 6,530 institutions in 124 countries or regions were published in different academic journals. The most productive country was absolutely the United States, and the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center was the institution with the largest output. Zhang, Yun published the most articles, and the author who had the most frequent co-citations was Moslehi, Javid. New England Journal of Medicine was the most frequently cited journals in this field. Mechanisms of cardiotoxicity have received the most attention and was the main research directions in the field. The disease of cardiotoxicity together with the related risk factors are potential research hotspots. Immune checkpoint inhibitor and myocarditis are two recently discussed and rapidly expanding research topic in the areas of cardiotoxicity. Conclusions This bibliometric analysis provided a thorough analysis of the cardiotoxicity, which would provide crucial sources of information and concepts for academics studying this area. As a rapidly expanding field in cardiology, the related field of cardiotoxicity will continue to be a focus of research.

Abstract
Background: Cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases are major global health problems, and the main cause is atherosclerosis. Recently, molecular imaging has been widely employed in the diagnosis and therapeutic applications of a variety of diseases, including atherosclerosis. Substantive facts have announced that molecular imaging has broad prospects in the early diagnosis and targeted treatment of atherosclerosis. Objective: We conducted a scientometric analysis of the scientific publications over the past 23 years on molecular imaging research in atherosclerosis, so as to identify the key progress, hotspots, and emerging trends. Methods: Original research and reviews regarding molecular imaging in atherosclerosis were retrieved from the Web of Science Core Collection database. Microsoft Excel 2021 was used to analyze the main findings. CiteSpace, VOSviewer, and a scientometric online platform were used to perform visualization analysis of the co-citation of journals and references, co-occurrence of keywords, and collaboration between countries/regions, institutions, and authors. Results: A total of 1755 publications were finally included, which were published by 795 authors in 443 institutions from 59 countries/regions. The United States was the top country in terms of the number and centrality of publications in this domain, with 810 papers and a centrality of 0.38, and Harvard University published the largest number of articles (182). Fayad, ZA was the most productive author, with 73 papers, while LIBBY P had the most co-citations (493). CIRCULATION was the top co-cited journal with a frequency of 1,411, followed by ARTERIOSCL THROM VAS (1,128). The co-citation references analysis identified eight clusters with a well-structured network (Q = 0.6439) and highly convincing clustering (S = 0.8865). All the studies calculated by keyword co-occurrence were divided into five clusters: "nanoparticle," "magnetic resonance imaging," "inflammation," "positron emission tomography," and "ultrasonography". Hot topics mainly focused on cardiovascular disease, contrast media, macrophage, vulnerable plaque, and microbubbles. Sodium fluoride ⁃PET, targeted drug delivery, OCT, photoacoustic imaging, ROS, and oxidative stress were identified as the potential trends. Conclusion: Molecular imaging research in atherosclerosis has attracted extensive attention in academia, while the challenges of clinical transformation faced in this field have been described in this review. The findings of the present research can inform funding agencies and researchers toward future directions.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Scholars have long understood that gastrointestinal microorganisms are intimately related to human disorders. The literature on research involving the gut microbiome and neuroscience is emerging. This study exposed the connections between gut microbiota and neuroscience methodically and intuitively using bibliometrics and visualization. This study's objectives were to summarize the knowledge structure and identify emerging trends and potential hotspots in this field. MATERIALS AND METHODS On October 18, 2022, a literature search was conducted utilizing the Web of Science Core Collection (WoSCC) database for studies on gut microbiota and neuroscience studies from 2002 to 2022 (August 20, 2022). VOSviewer and CiteSpace V software was used to conduct the bibliometrics and visualization analysis. RESULTS From 2002 to 2022 (August 20, 2022), 2,275 publications in the WoSCC database satisfied the criteria. The annual volume of publications has rapidly emerged in recent years (2016-2022). The most productive nation (n = 732, 32.18%) and the hub of inter-country cooperation (links: 38) were the United States. University College Cork had the most research papers published in this area, followed by McMaster University and Harvard Medical School. Cryan JF, Dinan TG, and Clarke G were key researchers with considerable academic influence. The journals with the most publications are "Neurogastroenterology and Motility" and "Brain Behavior and Immunity." The most cited article and co-cited reference was Cryan JF's 2012 article on the impact of gut microbiota on the brain and behavior. The current research hotspot includes gastrointestinal microbiome, inflammation, gut-brain axis, Parkinson's disease (PD), and Alzheimer's disease (AD). The research focus would be on the "gastrointestinal microbiome, inflammation: a link between obesity, insulin resistance, and cognition" and "the role of two important theories of the gut-brain axis and microbial-gut-brain axis in diseases." Burst detection analysis showed that schizophrenia, pathology, and psychiatric disorder may continue to be the research frontiers. CONCLUSION Research on "gastrointestinal microbiome, inflammation: a link between obesity, insulin resistance, and cognition" and "the role of two important theories of the gut-brain axis and microbial-gut-brain axis in diseases" will continue to be the hotspot. Schizophrenia and psychiatric disorder will be the key research diseases in the field of gut microbiota and neuroscience, and pathology is the key research content, which is worthy of scholars' attention.

Abstract
Sick sinus syndrome (SSS) is a refractory arrhythmia disease caused by the pathological changes of sinoatrial node and its adjacent tissues. 2,251 publications related to SSS were retrieved from Web of Science database from 2000 to 2022 and analyzed by using VOS viewer and CiteSpace software. The results showed the United States dominated the field, followed by Japan, Germany, and China. SSS was closely related to risk factors such as atrial fibrillation and aging. Sick sinus syndrome, atrial fibrillation and sinus node dysfunction were the top three keywords that had the strongest correlation with the study. Pacemaker implantation, differentiation and mutation are research hotspots currently. Clinical studies on SSS found that sick sinus syndrome, atrial fibrillation, and pacemakers were the top three keywords that had the largest nodes and the highest frequency. In the field of basic applied research and basic research, atrial fibrillation and pacemaker cells were the focus of research. In conclusion, bibliometric analysis provided valuable information for the prevention, treatment and future research trends of SSS.

Abstract
The concept of carbon neutrality has been promoted and implemented in increasing countries since the twenty-first century. In-depth research on carbon neutrality has helped improve the environmental conditions and played a particular role in sustaining economic and social development. However, there is a less comprehensive review of the status in this field; therefore, this article uses the information visualization software CiteSpace to thoroughly analyze carbon neutrality research from multiple perspectives. This study aims to reveal the current research evolutions and hotspots in this field, predict future research trends, and construct the framework for better understanding. The results find that the number of papers published on carbon neutrality keeps increasing annually, and carbon neutrality has been the widely participated domain. In addition, publications by organizations and in top journals have aroused wide attention, and the hot spots on carbon neutrality have shifted to policy, recovery, and efficiency. Based on the results, a knowledge framework of this domain is constructed to give readers a clearer understanding of the evolvement and trends, which will also provide targeted references and help for future researchers.

Abstract
BackgroundGlioma stem cells (GSCs) are a sub-population of cancer stem cells with capacity of self-renewal and differentiation. Accumulated evidence has revealed that GSCs were shown to contribute to gliomagenesis, distant metastasis as well as the resistance to radiotherapy and chemotherapy. As a result, GSCs were regarded as a promising therapeutic target in human glioma. The purpose of our study is to identify current state and hotspots of GSCs research by analyzing scientific publications through bibliometric methods.MethodsAll relevant publications on GSCs during 2003-2021 were extracted from the Science Citation Index Expanded of Web of Science Core Collection (WoSCC), and related information was collected and analyzed using Microsoft Excel 2016, GraphPad Prism 8 and VOSviewer software.ResultsA total of 4990 papers were included. The United States accounted for the largest number of publications (1852), the second average citations per item (ACI) value (67.54) as well as the highest H-index (157). Cancer Research was the most influential journal in this field. The most contributive institution was League of European Research Universities. RICH JN was the author with the most publications (109) and the highest H-index (59). All studies were clustered into 3 groups: “glioma stem cell properties”, “cell biological properties” and “oncology therapy”. The keywords “identification”, “CD133” and “side population” appeared earlier with the smaller average appearing years (AAY), and the keywords”radiotherapy” and “chemotherapy” had the latest AAY. The analysis of top cited articles showed that “temozolomide”, “epithelial-mesenchymal transition”, and “immunotherapy” emerged as new focused issues.ConclusionThere has been a growing number of researches on GSCs. The United States has always been a leading player in this domain. In general, the research focus has gradually shifted from basic cellular biology to the solutions of clinical concerns. “Temozolomide resistance”, “epithelial-mesenchymal transition”, and “immunotherapy” should be given more attention in the future.

Abstract
Purpose This study aimed to explore current developments and trends in the field of subjective well-being (SWB) of older adults at a macro level and identify research hotspots. Methods We included reviews and articles on the SWB of older adults in the Web of Science Core Collection published from 2002 to 2021. We used CiteSpace to draw a knowledge map of the authors, institutions, countries, references, and keywords for visual analysis and used Microsoft Excel tables to count basic information details. Results A total of 354 papers were included, and the number of papers published over the past two decades showed a pattern of growth. The core force of publications was primarily attributed to studies conducted in Europe, North America, Asia, and Oceania, which have relatively major issues of aging and good economic strength. However, links between states, institutions, and authors were relatively weak. Cluster analysis showed that the research field could be divided into eight topics: the application of social psychology in the study of the SWB of older adults, aging in older adults, health condition of older adults, achieving successful aging, interventions for SWB, age differences in SWB research, an economic perspective of SWB research and social support for older adults. Current research frontiers are socioeconomic status, community, intervention, participation, adjustment, validation, and personality. Conclusion The results of the present study provided a comprehensive picture in the research field of SWB of older adults. It showed that the mechanism, especially the bidirectional effect, between the SWB of older adults and its influencing factors is still worthy of further exploration. More research on evidence-based and intervention strategies should be conducted in the future.

Abstract
Background Since the discovery of the immunomodulatory functions of mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs), their application in immunomodulation has attracted considerable attention, and an increasing number of studies have been conducted worldwide. Our research aimed to investigate the global status and trends in this field. Methods Publications on the immunomodulatory functions of MSCs from 1 January 2000 to 7 March 2022 were retrieved from the Web of Science Core Collection. The data were studied and indexed using the bibliometric methodology. Visualization analysis, co-authorship, co-occurrence analysis, and publication trends in MSC immunomodulation were conducted using the VOSviewer software. Results In total, 4,227 papers were included in the study. The number of publications and research interests has significantly increased globally. China published the highest number of related articles, while the US published articles with the highest number of citations. Stem Cell Research & Therapy had the highest number of publications. Sun Yat-sen University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Harvard University, and Seoul National University were the most contributive institutions. Furthermore, the studies were divided into four research hotspots for MSC immunomodulation: MSC immunomodulation in regenerative medicine, the effects and mechanisms of MSC immunomodulation, MSC therapy for immune diseases, and the cell source of MSCs. Conclusion This study indicates that the number of publications on MSC immunomodulation will increase in the future, and MSC immunomodulation mechanisms and clinical applications of MSC immunotherapy should be the next hotspots in this research field.

Abstract
BACKGROUND DNA methylation is a dynamically reversible form of epigenetics. Dynamic regulation plays an important role in cardiovascular diseases (CVDs). However, there have been few bibliometric studies in this field. We aimed to visualize the research results and hotspots of DNA methylation in CVDs using a bibliometric analysis to provide a scientific direction for future research. METHODS Publications related to DNA methylation in CVDs from January 1, 2001, to September 15, 2021, were searched and confirmed from the Web of Science Core Collection. CiteSpace 5.7 and VOSviewer 1.6.15 were used for bibliometric and knowledge-map analyses. RESULTS A total of 2617 publications were included in 912 academic journals by 15,584 authors from 963 institutions from 85 countries/regions. Among them, the United States of America, China, and England were the top 3 countries contributing to the field of DNA methylation. Harvard University, Columbia University, and University of Cambridge were the top 3 contributing institutions in terms of publications and were closely linked. PLoS One was the most published and co-cited journal. Baccarelli Andrea A published the most content, while Barker DJP had the highest frequency of co-citations. The keyword cluster focused on the mechanism, methyl-containing substance, exposure/risk factor, and biomarker. In terms of research hotspots, references with strong bursts, which are still ongoing, recently included "epigenetic clock" (2017-2021), "obesity, smoking, aging, and DNA methylation" (2017-2021), and "biomarker and epigenome-wide association study" (2019-2021). CONCLUSIONS We used bibliometric and visual methods to identify research hotspots and trends in DNA methylation in CVDs. Epigenetic clocks, biomarkers, environmental exposure, and lifestyle may become the focus and frontier of future research.

Abstract
Background: Stem cells (SCs) therapy for intervertebral disc degeneration (IDD) has been studied for nearly 20 years and it is an important part of regenerative medicine and tissue engineering research, as well as a current research hotspot and challenge. Although the volume of literature has shown an annual growth trend, there is no literature available for bibliometric and clinical analysis of the content of multiple databases in this field.Methods: The articles were obtained from the WOSCC, Scopus, Pubmed, and ClinicalTrials on 27 December 2021. Three scientometric software (VOSviewer 1.6.17, CiteSpace 5.8.R.1 and Scimago Graphica) were used to perform bibliometric and knowledge-map analysis.Results: We included 867 articles from WOSCC, 716 articles from Scopus and 6 clinical studies from ClinicalTrials for literature analysis. Our results showed that China was the country with the highest number of publications, with the United States (US) being the leader in terms of international collaborations and the number of citations. Sakai D, Grad S and Hoyland JA had made outstanding contributions for their high productivity and the quality articles. Spine was the most published and most cited journal, in addition to Spine Journal and Biomaterials, which were also more authoritative journals and had received high citations. All of them had received high citations. Keyword co-occurrence studies suggested that the current hotspots were in mechanistic studies, including inflammation, apoptosis, exosome, autophagy, and others. Some studies had also investigated tissue-engineered scaffolds of SCs to better repair degenerated discs. Clinical studies were relatively scarce. Direct injection of Mesenchymal Stem Cells (MSCs) into degenerated discs for the treatment of Degenerative disc disease (DDD) was the current direction of research.Conclusion: This study demonstrates the global research hotspots, trends and clinical use of SCs in the treatment of IDD. It can help scholars to quickly understand the current status and hotspots of research in this field, and also provide some guidance and reference for those who are currently researching in this area.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To determine the coalitions and impact of authors, countries, institutions, and journals, evaluate the knowledge base, find the hotspot trends, and identify the emerging topics in lumbar disc herniation (LDH). METHOD The articles related to LDH were obtained from the Web of Science Core Collection on August 21, 2021. Two scientometric software (CiteSpace 5.8.R.1 and VOSviewer 1.6.17) were used to perform bibliometric and knowledge-map analysis. RESULTS From the set parameters, 4642 articles were included in the literature. Although the total number of publications fluctuated between 2001 and 2020, a general trend toward increase was observed. Respectively, the most productive country and institution in the field were the United States and Wooridul Spine Hospital. The most active and cited authors were Lee and Weinstein. Spine was the most impactful and cited journal. Weinstein (JAMA 296:2441-2450, 2006) had the highest number of co-citations and Weinstein(N Engl J Med 358:794-810, 2008) had the highest number of citations. The keyword "low back pain" was ranked first for frequency and total link strength, whereas "risk factor" was ranked first for centrality. Topics including pathogenesis (disc herniation), examination methods (MRI), treatment methods (non-surgical treatment, surgical treatment), surgical options (laminectomy, discectomy), clinical observations (double-blind, efficacy, outcome, learning curve), and evaluation of efficacy (meta-analysis) of LDH have been the focus of leading-edge research in 2001-2020. CONCLUSION Using bibliometric methods, this study mapped the knowledge map of LDH research in the past 20 years. The study identifies existing trends to provide a framework for further research.

Abstract
Background Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) have important research value and broad application prospects in liver diseases. This study aims to comprehensively review the cooperation and influence of countries, institutions, authors, and journals in the field of MSCs in liver diseases from the perspective of bibliometrics, evaluate the clustering evolution of knowledge structure, and discover hot trends and emerging topics. Methods The articles and reviews related to MSCs in liver diseases were retrieved from the Web of Science Core Collection using Topic Search. A bibliometric study was performed using CiteSpace and VOSviewer. Results A total of 3404 articles and reviews were included over the period 2001-2021. The number of articles regarding MSCs in liver diseases showed an increasing trend. These publications mainly come from 3251 institutions in 113 countries led by China and the USA. Li L published the most papers among the publications, while Pittenger MF had the most co-citations. Analysis of the most productive journals shows that most are specialized in medical research, experimental medicine and cell biology, and cell & tissue engineering. The macroscopical sketch and micro-representation of the whole knowledge field are realized through co-citation analysis. Liver scaffold, MSC therapy, extracellular vesicle, and others are current and developing areas of the study. The keywords "machine perfusion", "liver transplantation", and "microRNAs" also may be the focus of new trends and future research. Conclusions In this study, bibliometrics and visual methods were used to review the research of MSCs in liver diseases comprehensively. This paper will help scholars better understand the dynamic evolution of the application of MSCs in liver diseases and point out the direction for future research.

Abstract
Background Metabolomics has immense research value in coronary artery disease and has drawn increasing attention over the past decades. Many articles have been published in this field, which may challenge researchers aiming to investigate all the available information. However, bibliometrics can provide deep insights into this research field. Objective We aimed to qualitatively and quantitatively study metabolomics and coronary artery disease research, visually analyse the development status, trends, research hotspots, and frontiers of this field, and provide a reference for research on coronary artery disease. Methods Articles were acquired from the Web of Science Core Collection. VOSviewer and CiteSpace software were used to analyse publication growth, country/region, institution, journal distribution, author, reference, and keywords, and detected the keywords with strong citation burstness to identify emerging topics. Results A total of 1121 references were obtained, and the annual number of publications increased over the past 16 years. Metabolomics research has shown a gradual upward trend in coronary artery disease. The United States of America and China ranked at the top in terms of percentage of articles. The institution with the highest number of research publications in this field was Harvard University, followed by the University of California System and Brigham Women's Hospital. The most frequently cited authors included Hazen SL, Tang WH, and Wang ZN. Ala-Korpela M was the most productive author, followed by Clish CB and Adamski J. The journal with the most publications in this field was Scientific Reports, followed by PLoS One and the Journal of Proteome Research. The keywords used at a high frequency were "risk," "biomarkers," "insulin resistance," and "atherosclerosis." Burst detection analysis of top keywords showed that "microbiota," "tryptophan," and "diabetes" are the current research frontiers in this field. Conclusion This study provides useful information for acquiring knowledge on metabolomics and coronary artery diseases. Metabolomics research has shown a gradual upward trend in coronary artery disease studies over the past 16 years. Research on tryptophan metabolism regulated by intestinal flora will become an emerging academic trend in this field, which can offer guidance for more extensive and in-depth studies in the future.

Abstract
ObjectivesA bibliometric and knowledge-map analysis is used to explore hotspots’ evolution and development trends in the CAR-T cell field. By looking for research hotspots and new topics, we can provide new clues and ideas for researchers in this field.MethodsThe articles and reviews regarding CAR-T cells were retrieved and obtained from the Web of Science Core Collection (WOSCC) on October 28th, 2021. CtieSpace [version 5.8.R3 (64-bit)] and VOSviewer (version 1.6.17) were used to conduct the bibliometric and knowledge-map analysis.Results660 authors from 488 institutions in 104 countries/regions published 6,867 papers in 1,212 academic journals. The United States was absolutely in the leading position in this research field. The institution that contributed the most publications was the University of Pennsylvania. Carl H June published the most articles, while Shannon L Maude had the most co-citations. However, there was little cooperation between countries. After 2012, cooperation among various institutions was also small. The journals that published the most CAR-T cell-related papers were Frontiers in immunology and Cancers. Nevertheless, Blood and The New England Journal of Medicine were the most commonly co-cited journals. The most influential research hotspots were the research of CAR-T cells in hematological malignancies, the related research of cytokine release syndrome (CRS), CD19, and the anti-tumor activity and efficacy of CAR-T cells. The latest hotspots and topics included the study of CAR-T cells in solid tumors, universal CAR-T cells, CAR-NK cells, CD22, and anakinra (the IL-1 receptor antagonist). The research of CAR-T cells in solid tumors was a rapidly developing hot field. Emerging topics in this field mainly included the study of CAR-T cells in glioblastoma (related targets: IL13Rα2, EGFRvIII, and HER2), neuroblastoma (related target: GD2), sarcoma (related target: HER2), and pancreatic cancer (related target: mesothelin), especially glioblastoma.ConclusionAs an anti-tumor therapy with great potential and clinical application prospects, CAR-T cell therapy is still in a stage of rapid development. The related field of CAR-T cells will remain a research hotspot in the future.

Abstract
BACKGROUND With the development of quantitative electroencephalography (QEEG), an increasing number of studies have been published on the clinical use of QEEG in the past two decades, particularly in the diagnosis, treatment, and prognosis of neuropsychiatric disorders. However, to date, the current status and developing trends of this research field have not been systematically analyzed from a macroscopic perspective. The present study aimed to identify the hot spots, knowledge base, and frontiers of QEEG research in neuropsychiatric disorders from 2000 to 2021 through bibliometric analysis. METHODS QEEG-related publications in the neuropsychiatric field from 2000 to 2021 were retrieved from the Web of Science Core Collection (WOSCC). CiteSpace and VOSviewer software programs, and the online literature analysis platform (bibliometric.com) were employed to perform bibliographic and visualized analysis. RESULTS A total of 1,904 publications between 2000 and 2021 were retrieved. The number of QEEG-related publications in neuropsychiatric disorders increased steadily from 2000 to 2021, and research in psychiatric disorders requires more attention in comparison to research in neurological disorders. During the last two decades, QEEG has been mainly applied in neurodegenerative diseases, cerebrovascular diseases, and mental disorders to reveal the pathological mechanisms, assist clinical diagnosis, and promote the selection of effective treatments. The recent hot topics focused on QEEG utilization in neurodegenerative disorders like Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease, traumatic brain injury and related cerebrovascular diseases, epilepsy and seizure, attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder, and other mental disorders like major depressive disorder and schizophrenia. In addition, studies to cross-validate QEEG biomarkers, develop new biomarkers (e.g., functional connectivity and complexity), and extract compound biomarkers by machine learning were the emerging trends. CONCLUSION The present study integrated bibliometric information on the current status, the knowledge base, and future directions of QEEG studies in neuropsychiatric disorders from a macroscopic perspective. It may provide valuable insights for researchers focusing on the utilization of QEEG in this field.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The Mediterranean diet (MD) is an ancient eating habit that is believed to contribute to a healthy lifestyle. Unsurprisingly, research on the MD is growing rapidly as people pay more attention to health preservation and prevention, treatment and rehabilitation of chronic diseases. Previous reviews focused more on the effects of MD on a particular disease which has enhanced its significance in the medicine field. However, few studies have attempted to provide a comprehensive summary and analysis of this topic. This study evaluates the global research trends of scientific outputs related to MD from multiple perspectives, using a bibliometric analysis and visualization tool (CiteSpace software) to scientifically analyze the knowledge from the literature. METHODS The core collection database of Web of Science was used to retrieve the bibliographic records related to MD from 1984 to March 30, 2021. CiteSpace was used to generate and analyze visual representations of the complex data input, including number of publications, research performances in journals, authors, institutions, countries and co-occurrence networks of keywords and co-citation references. RESULTS Overall, the number of MD publications has shown a significant upward trend since 2012. Nutrients and American Journal of Clinical Nutrition contained the most articles related to MD, indicating that they were important platforms for related research. Martinez-gonzalez Ma and Estruch Ramon are the authors with the highest number of publications related to MD, and it is noteworthy that these 2 authors have close cooperation in this field. The countries with the most publications are Spain and the United States, and the institutions with the most publications are Univ Navarra, Inst Salud Carlos III. The main research disciplines are "Mediterranean diet," "risk," "cardiovascular disease," "adherence," "obesity," "coronary heart disease," "diet," "health," "physical activity" and "risk factor". Estruch R's 2013 study on cerebrovascular disease and Tricopoulou A's 2003 mortality study were cited 881 cases for 437 times, respectively, showing the importance of these 2 articles in this field. CONCLUSION The current global trends of MD research as well as people's increasing awareness of healthcare and healthy lifestyle imply that MD research is expected to become increasingly popular with further breakthroughs.

Abstract
Objectives To identify the cooperation and impact of authors, countries, institutions, and journals, evaluate the knowledge base, find the hotspot trends, and detect the emerging topics regarding ferroptosis research. Methods The articles and reviews related to ferroptosis were obtained from the Web of Science Core Collection on November 1, 2020. Two scientometric software (CiteSpace 5.7 and VOSviewer 1.6.15) were used to perform bibliometric and knowledge-map analysis. Results A total of 1,267 papers were included, in 466 academic journals by 6,867 authors in 438 institutions from 61 countries/regions. The ferroptosis-related publications were increasing rapidly. Cell Death & Disease published the most papers on ferroptosis, while Cell was the top co-cited journal, publication journals and co-cited journals were major in the molecular and biology fields. The United States and China were the most productive countries; meanwhile, the University of Pittsburgh, Columbia University and Guangzhou Medical University were the most active institutions. Brent R Stockwell published the most papers, while Scott J Dixon had the most co-citations; simultaneously, active cooperation existed in ferroptosis researchers. Ten references on reviews, mechanisms, and diseases were regarded as the knowledge base. Five main aspects of ferroptosis research included regulation mechanisms, nervous system injury, cancer, relationships with other types of cell death, and lipid peroxidation. The latest hotspots were nanoparticle, cancer therapy, iron metabolism, and in-depth mechanism. Notably Nrf2 might have turning significance. The emerging topics on ferroptosis research were the further molecular mechanism of ferroptosis and the wider application of ferroptosis-related disease with advanced technology. Conclusion This study performed a full overview of the ferroptosis research using bibliometric and visual methods. The information would provide helpful references for scholars focusing on ferroptosis.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE The purpose of this bibliometric analysis was to identify trends and hot topics in research on lumbar spinal stenosis (LSS) over the past decade, for helping researchers explore new directions for future research in that area. METHODS All research articles on LSS, written in English and indexed in the Web of Science database (WoS) between 2010 and 2020, were used. The visualization of network and in-depth bibliometric analysis including the number of publications, countries, institutions, journals, authors, cited references, and key words was carried out with the help of CiteSpace. RESULTS A total of 4033 papers (3577 original articles and 476 reviews) were identified and included in the study. The most productive year was in 2019. The Spine was the journal that published the highest number of articles and received the most citations. The most productive country and institutions in this field were the United States and Seoul National University, respectively. Kim HJ was the most prolific author, and Deyo RA ranked the first in the cited authors. The most cited article was published in 2010 by Deyo et al. and described the complications and charges index for LSS. From the coword cluster analysis, there were 3 frontiers in lumbar spinal stenosis: intervention, outcomes, and pathogenesis. CONCLUSIONS We have summarized the literature on LSS in the past decade including publication information, country, institution, authors, and journal. Research on minimally invasive surgery, outcomes, and gene therapies in LSS will be hot topics in the future.
