Abstract
BACKGROUND Worldwide, the division between Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) and Adult Mental Health Services (AMHS) has frequently resulted in fragmented care with an unprepared, non-gradual transition. To improve continuity of care and other service transition experiences, service user input is essential. However, such previous qualitative studies are from a decade ago or focused on one mental disorder or country. The aim of the present study was to learn from service users' transition experiences and suggested improvements. METHODS Semi-structured interviews were held with young people aged 18-24 and/or parents/caregivers in the United Kingdom, Ireland, the Netherlands and Croatia. Inclusion was based on the experience of specialist mental health care before and after turning 18. Thematic analysis of transcribed and translated interview transcripts was performed using ATLAS.ti 9. RESULTS Main themes of service user experiences included abrupt changes in responsibilities, various barriers and a lack of preparation, communication and ongoing care. Young people expressed a great need for continuity of care. Their suggestions to improve transitional care included early and adequate preparation, joint working, improved communication from and between services, overlapping services, staying at CAMHS for longer and designated youth mental health teams. CONCLUSIONS Young people who experienced care before and after turning 18 suggested either altering the age limits of services or ensuring early preparation and communication regarding the transition and finding AHMS. This communication should include general changes when turning 18. Further considerations include increasing collaboration and overlap between CAMHS and AMHS.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Eating disorders (EDs) peak in mid-to-late adolescence and often persist into adulthood. Given their early onset and chronicity, many patients transition from child and adolescent mental health services (CAMHS) to adult mental health services (AMHS) for ongoing, speciality ED care. This transition typically occurs at 18 years of age, when important biological, psychosocial, and vocational changes take place. Thus, smooth and effective transitions are paramount for ensuring service continuity, as well as reducing the risk of ED relapse and premature death. Here, we synthesized evidence on transitions from CAMHS to AMHS for young people with EDs, aiming to inform future research, clinical practice, and healthcare policy. METHODS A systematic review of the literature was conducted. This adhered to PRISMA guidelines. PubMed, Embase, and Scopus electronic databases were queried from inception to December 3, 2023. Leveraging the PICOS framework, study eligibility was evaluated in the qualitative synthesis. Data regarding methodology, analytic approach, and associated outcomes were then extracted. The quality of evidence was examined using critical appraisal tools. Finally, concept mapping was applied to organize findings into a transition framework. RESULTS The search returned 76 articles. Of these, 14 were included in the final review. Articles were grouped into 'qualitative' (n = 10), 'cross-sectional' (n = 2), and 'longitudinal cohort' (n = 2) studies based on research design. Overall, ED transitions were complex, multifaceted, and challenging for patients, caregivers, and providers alike. This resulted from an interplay of temporal- (e.g., timing of ED onset and transition), stakeholder- (e.g., patient ambivalence towards recovery) and systemic- (e.g., differences between services) related factors. Most studies were of moderate-to-high quality. Findings informed the development of five transition strategies designed to facilitate effective transfers across ED care: Timely talks, Readiness, Inclusion, Preparation, and Synergy (TRIPS). CONCLUSIONS Transitions from CAMHS to AMHS appear problematic for young people with EDs and other involved stakeholders. The field stands to benefit from TRIPS, an actionable, evidence-based framework that aims to alleviate challenges of transitioning and subsequently improve ED trajectories. As a logical next step, future work should empirically test the TRIPS framework, exploring its predictive utility and clinical value.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Studies have established the central role of the family in the recognition, treatment, and recovery of anorexia nervosa. The objective of this study was to review, synthesize, and critically appraise the literature on parents' views on the treatment and recovery process of anorexia nervosa in their adolescent child. METHOD A systematic search of Medline, PsychINFO, CINHAL, EMBASE, Cochrane library, and SSCI was conducted for qualitative studies published regarding parents' views about the treatment of anorexia nervosa. The quality of articles was assessed using the critical appraisal skills program (CASP) and findings were analysed using thematic synthesis. RESULTS A total of 25 studies from nine countries reporting the views of 357 parents met the inclusion criteria. Four major themes were developed from the analysis: understanding the child and the disease, experience of services and treatment modalities, the role of professionals, and the experience of recovery. CONCLUSION Parents report struggles with delays in finding help, judgmental attitudes of professionals, and uncertainty about the future. Recognition of the challenges faced by parents and families empowers clinicians to build stronger therapeutic relationships essential for long-term recovery from anorexia nervosa.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES Healthcare transition (HCT) interventions are pivotal to paediatric rehabilitation. However, there has been limited research focusing on HCT in young people with spinal cord injury (SCI). To date, little has been reported on key factors that may contribute to a positive or negative transition experience and what, if any, are the gaps in the transition process. This study explored the experiences of transition from paediatric to adult healthcare for young people with SCI and parents/caregivers in pursuit of co-designing and developing an intervention to support transition. DESIGN, SETTING AND PARTICIPANTS This qualitative study forms part of the planning phase of a larger participatory action research project. It supports obtaining a rich understanding of the phenomenon and the issues and actions necessary to achieve change. Semi-structured individual interviews were conducted online between April and June 2021 with young people with SCI and parents/caregivers who had transitioned or were preparing for the transition from paediatric to adult healthcare in NSW, Australia. The interviews were analysed using an inductive reflexive thematic analysis approach. RESULTS The study recruited nine participants, five young people with SCI and four parents/caregivers. The interviews provided invaluable insight into young people with SCI and their parents'/caregivers' experiences of HCT. As HCT experiences were often less than optimal and needs were not adequately met, some recommendations were offered. These included a coordinated and streamlined handover from paediatric to adult healthcare providers, and a 'one-stop shop' for young people with SCI and their parents/caregivers to access transition information, such as how it occurs, who to call for ongoing support and advice, and tips on how to transition successfully. CONCLUSION Providing a coordinated and streamlined handover process as well as access to more context-related information could improve the transition experiences of young people with SCI and parents/caregivers, resulting in improved health outcomes and greater independence.
