Abstract
Background: Chronic kidney disease (CKD) and heart failure (HF) are interrelated conditions that exacerbate each other through mechanisms like fluid retention, neurohormonal activation, and inflammation. Red blood cell distribution width (RDW), a measure of red blood cell size variability, has emerged as a potential prognostic marker in HF. This study aimed to assess the prognostic value of RDW in HF patients, both with and without CKD, focusing on all-cause mortality and HF rehospitalizations. Methods: This observational retrospective study included 171 patients hospitalized for acute decompensated HF in a tertiary university hospital in Greece. Patients were divided into two groups based on their estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR), as Group 1 (eGFR < 60 mL/min/1.73 m2) and Group 2 (eGFR ≥ 60 mL/min/1.73 m2). RDW was measured upon admission, and outcomes of interest were all-cause mortality and HF rehospitalizations over a median follow-up period of 6.1 months. Statistical analyses included Kaplan-Meier survival curves, whereas the discrimination traits of RDW were evaluated by constructing receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves and by calculating the area under the ROC curve (AUC). A p-value <0.05 was indicative of a statistically important result. Results: Patients in Group 1 (eGFR < 60 mL/min/1.73 m2) were older (80 (73-86) vs. 75 (62-83)) and manifested higher median RDW values (16.6 (15.0-18.8) vs. 15.6 (14.1-17.8)) and received less frequent (57.9% vs. 75%) mineralocorticoid receptor antagonists (MRAs) as compared to those in Group 2 (eGFR ≥ 60 mL/min/1.73 m2). RDW demonstrated better prognostic value in predicting combined mortality and rehospitalization outcomes in Group 2 patients (area under the curve: 0.70; 95% CI (0.62-0.80)) compared to those in Group 1 (area under the curve: 0.53; 95% CI (0.35-0.72)). No statistically significant differences (p = 0.579) were observed in survival between patients with high (≥15%) and low (<15%) RDW values in the overall population, though trends favored worse outcomes with elevated RDW. Similarly, no significant differences (p = 0.374) were observed in survival between patients with high (Group 2) and low (Group 1) eGFR values. Conclusions: RDW appears to be a meaningful prognostic biomarker for HF patients, particularly in those without CKD. Further multicenter studies are needed to validate its clinical utility and potential for guiding treatment in this high-risk population.

Abstract
BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES The importance of hematological parameters has started to be explored with increased interest in many fields lately, with different studies finding an association between those parameters and inflammatory status, atherosclerosis, comorbidities, malnutrition, neoplasia and even a faster progression of chronic kidney disease (CKD). On the other hand, CKD itself presents as an inflammatory condition, in which a lot of pathways are modified and the response to an infectious agent could be less than expected. Regarding the latter aspect, in this study we aim to explore the differences between the hematologic response during a lower versus upper urinary tract infection in patients with CKD. MATERIALS AND METHODS We analyzed 70 patients with chronic kidney disease and either cystitis or pyelonephritis considering the hematologic parameters, the classical inflammatory ones as well as the etiology of CKD. RESULTS Neutrophils, neutrophils/lymphocytes ratio (NLR), erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR), C-reactive protein (CRP) and fibrinogen were higher in patients with pyelonephritis (PNA), while albumin was significantly lower. In a binary logistic regression model that explained 80.2% of the variability of PNA diagnosis and correctly predicted it in 92.9% of cases, NLR, CRP and fibrinogen were the independent predictors. CONCLUSIONS Hematologic parameters can serve not only as an indicator of the inflammatory status, but also as a laboratory biomarker for PNA in patients with CKD.

Abstract
Predicting the transition of kidney function in chronic kidney disease is difficult as specific symptoms are lacking and often overlooked, and progress occurs due to complicating factors. In this study, we applied time-series cluster analysis and a light gradient boosting machine to predict the trajectories of kidney function in non-dialysis dependent chronic kidney disease patients with baseline estimated glomerular filtration rate (GFR) ≥ 45 mL/min/1.73 m2. Based on 5-year changes in estimated GFR, participants were stratified into groups with similar trajectories by cluster analysis. Next, we applied the light gradient boosting machine algorithm and Shapley addictive explanation to develop a prediction model for clusters and identify important parameters for prediction. Data from 780 participants were available for analysis. Participants were classified into five classes (Class 1: n = 78, mean [± standard deviation] estimated GFR 100 ± 19.3 mL/min/1.73 m2; Class 2: n = 176, 76.0 ± 9.3 mL/min/1.73 m2; Class 3: n = 191, 59.8 ± 5.9 mL/min/1.73 m2; Class 4: n = 261, 52.7 ± 4.6 mL/min/1.73 m2; and Class 5: n = 74, 53.5 ± 12.0 mL/min/1.73 m2). Declines in estimated GFR were 8.9% in Class 1, 12.2% in Class 2, 4.9% in Class 3, 12.0% in Class 4, and 45.1% in Class 5 during the 5-year period. The accuracy of prediction was 0.675, and the top three most important Shapley addictive explanation values were 1.61 for baseline estimated GFR, 0.12 for hemoglobin, and 0.11 for body mass index. The estimated GFR transition of patients with preserved chronic kidney disease mostly depended on baseline estimated GFR, and the borderline for estimated GFR trajectory was nearly 50 mL/min/1.73 m2.

Abstract
The red blood cell distribution width-albumin ratio (RAR) is a prognostic factor for adverse outcomes in various populations. However, whether RAR is associated with renal outcomes remains unclear. Therefore, we aimed to investigate the impact of RAR on the prognosis in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD). We conducted a retrospective cohort study using 997 CKD patients who were enrolled in the Fukushima Cohort Study. Patients were categorized into tertiles (T1-3) according to the baseline RAR. The associations of RAR with end-stage kidney disease (ESKD) were assessed using Kaplan-Meier curves and multivariable cox regression analyses. Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves were performed to test whether significant differences were present between red cell distribution width (RDW) and RAR. The median age was 66, 57% were men, the median eGFR was 47.8 ml/min/1.73 m2, and the median value of RAR was 3.5. The higher RAR group showed an increased risk for ESKD in the Kaplan-Meier curve analysis. Compared to the lowest RAR group, higher RAR groups had a higher risk of ESKD (hazard ratio [HR] 1.37, 95% CI 0.68-2.78 and 2.92, 95% CI 1.44-5.94) for T2 and T3 groups, respectively. ROC curve analysis proved that the discriminating ability of RAR for ESKD was superior to RDW. A higher RAR value was associated with worse renal outcomes in patients with CKD. RAR could be a convenient and useful prognostic marker for renal prognosis.

Abstract
Spaceflight-related stresses impact health via various body systems, including the haematopoietic and immune systems, with effects ranging from moderate alterations of homoeostasis to serious illness. Oxidative stress appears to be involved in these changes, and the transcription factor Nrf2, which regulates expression of a set of cytoprotective and antioxidative stress response genes, has been implicated in the response to spaceflight-induced stresses. Here, we show through analyses of mice from the MHU-3 project, in which Nrf2-knockout mice travelled in space for 31 days, that mice lacking Nrf2 suffer more seriously from spaceflight-induced immunosuppression than wild-type mice. We discovered that a one-month spaceflight-triggered the expression of tissue inflammatory marker genes in wild-type mice, an effect that was even more pronounced in the absence of Nrf2. Concomitant with induction of inflammatory conditions, the consumption of coagulation-fibrinolytic factors and platelets was elevated by spaceflight and further accelerated by Nrf2 deficiency. These results highlight that Nrf2 mitigates spaceflight-induced inflammation, subsequent immunosuppression, and thrombotic microangiopathy. These observations reveal a new strategy to relieve health problems encountered during spaceflight.

Abstract
Background The predictive value of red blood cell distribution width (RDW) for mortality in patients with sepsis-induced acute kidney injury (SI-AKI) remains unclear. The present study aimed to investigate the potential association between RDW at admission and outcomes in patients with SI-AKI. Methods The Medical Information Mart for Intensive Care (MIMIC)-IV (version 2.0) database, released in June of 2022, provides medical data of SI-AKI patients to conduct our related research. Based on propensity score matching (PSM) method, the main risk factors associated with mortality in SI-AKI were evaluated using Cox proportional hazards regression analysis to construct a predictive nomogram. The concordance index (C-index) and decision curve analysis were used to validate the predictive ability and clinical utility of this model. Patients with SI-AKI were classified into the high- and low-RDW groups according to the best cut-off value obtained by calculating the maximum value of the Youden index. Results A total of 7574 patients with SI-AKI were identified according to the filter criteria. Compared with the low-RDW group, the high-RDW group had higher 28-day (9.49% vs. 31.40%, respectively, P <0.001) and 7-day (3.96% vs. 13.93%, respectively, P <0.001) mortality rates. Patients in the high-RDW group were more prone to AKI progression than those in the low-RDW group (20.80% vs. 13.60%, respectively, P <0.001). Based on matched patients, we developed a nomogram model that included age, white blood cells, RDW, combined hypertension and presence of a malignant tumor, treatment with vasopressor, dialysis, and invasive ventilation, sequential organ failure assessment, and AKI stages. The C-index for predicting the probability of 28-day survival was 0.799. Decision curve analysis revealed that the model with RDW offered greater net benefit than that without RDW. Conclusion The present findings demonstrated the importance of RDW, which improved the predictive ability of the nomogram model for the probability of survival in patients with SI-AKI.

Abstract
Purpose The current study aimed to investigate whether red blood cell distribution width (RDW) can predict the prognosis of patients with breast cancer (BC). Methods We searched four databases, including PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library databases, and CNKI, from inception to Jun 13, 2022. The primary outcome was overall survival (OS), and the secondary outcome was disease-free survival (DFS). A subgroup analysis was conducted based on different treatments. This meta-analysis was performed with RevMan 5.3 (The Cochrane Collaboration, London, United Kingdom). Results A total of seven studies including 4,884 BC patients were identified. The high RDW group had a larger tumor size (OR = 2.12, 95% CI = 1.67 to 2.68, P < 0.01), higher proportions of advanced stage tumors (OR = 1.77, 95% CI = 1.38 to 2.27, P < 0.01), more lymph node metastases (OR = 2.00, 95% CI = 1.58 to 2.51, P < 0.01) and lower HER-2 expression (OR = 0.76, 95% CI = 0.61 to 0.95, P = 0.02). For prognosis, after pooling all the data, we found that the high RDW group was associated with worse OS (HR = 2.12, 95% CI = 1.47 to 3.08, P < 0.01) and DFS (HR = 1.77, 95% CI = 1.32 to 2.37, P < 0.01). The subgroup analysis found that RDW had prognostic significance but only for surgery-only patients (HR = 2.41, 95% CI = 1.67 to 3.49, P < 0.01). Conclusion High RDW was associated with worse OS and DFS. Therefore, RDW was a simple predictive factor for the prognosis of BC patients.

Abstract
Background Kidney disorders are mainly diagnosed after a major decline in the renal function. Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is one of the most common disorders of the urinary system defined by gradual reduction of renal function. Considering the silent nature and late diagnosis of this problem, this study aims to investigate the prevalence of CKD and its association with Complete Blood Count (CBC) profile and liver function tests. Methods Out of the total population enrolled in the Tabari cohort study, 5822 subjects without history of diabetes mellitus, hypertension, cardiac disease, renal failure, cancer, and pathologic obesity were selected. Glomerular filtration rate (GFR) was calculated using creatinine clearance as well as Modification of Diet in Renal Disease (MDRD) equation. CKD was defined as GFR decline less than 60 ml/min/1.73 m2 regardless of its main cause. Results Prevalence of CKD in total population as well as men and women was 20.2%, 16.8%, and 23.1%, respectively. Multivariate models showed the odds ratios for third and fourth quartiles of Mean corpuscular volume (MCV) and also for the fourth quartile of the lymphocyte count as of 0.78 (0.64, 0.95), 0.81 (0.67, 0.99), and 1.22 (1.01, 1.47), respectively. Corresponding odds ratios for the fourth, third, and second quartiles of Blood Urea Nitrogen (BUN) were 1.42 (1.14, 1.77), 1.76 (1.42, 2.19), and 2.79 (2.27, 3.43), respectively. Conclusions This study showed a high prevalence of CKD among the normal residents (without major underlying diseases and excessive obesity) in the north of Iran, especially among women. In addition, low MCV, low lymphocyte, and high BUN were detected as predictors of this disorder.

Abstract
Background RDW is critical to the clinical diagnosis and progression of ESRD. There is currently little data on the relationship between RDW and ESRD in sub-Saharan Africa. Because of this, the present study evaluates RDW in patients with ESRD and associated factors in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Methods The hospital-based cross-sectional study design was conducted on a total of 83 patients. RDW, MCV, SCR, BUN, GFR, FBS and serum albumin were determined. Blood pressure (mmHg), weight (kg), height (m), MUAC (cm) and BMI (kg/m2) were also measured. Data entry was via Epi-data version 3.4 and analyzed with SPSS version 26.0. A multivariate logistic regression analysis with a p-value < 0.05 at a 95% confidence interval was used to identify the associated factors of RDW. Results A total of 83 ESRD patients participated, with a response rate of 95.4%. RDW ranged from 15.5% to 23.6% with a mean of 17.40% + 1.46%. Anisocytosis was present in 98.8% of patients. Of 83 patients, 66.3% were hypertensive, 20.5% had diabetes, and the remaining 13.3% had other conditions (glomerulonephritis and peripheral vascular disease). The mean GFR value was 5.20 mL/min/1.73 + 1.58. RDW showed a significant association with GFR (AOR: 4.6, 95% CI [1.27, 20.74], P = 0.047), alcohol consumption (AOR: 13.4, P = 0.012, 95% CI [1.97, 22.62]), recurrent kidney disease (AOR=25.6, P=0.016, 95% CI [1.85, 53.71]) and use of medication (AOR=00.2, P=0.044), 95% CI [0.03, 0.95]). Conclusion RDW showed a significant association with GFR, recurrent kidney disease, alcohol consumption, and medication use in hemodialysis-dependent ESRD patients. The mechanisms of RDW disruption in ESRD patients need further investigation.

Abstract
Background Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a global public health issue. Red blood cell distribution width (RDW) is a recently recognized potential inflammatory marker, which mirrors the variability in erythrocyte volume. Studies indicate that elevated RDW is associated with increased risk of mortality in CKD patients, while evidence regarding the impact of RDW on kidney outcome is limited. Methods Altogether 523 patients with CKD stage 1-4 from a single center were enrolled. We identified the cutoff point for RDW level using maximally selected log-rank statistics. The time-averaged estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) slope was determined using linear mixed effects models. Rapid CKD progression was defined by an eGFR decline >5 ml/min/1.73 m2/year. The composite endpoints were defined as doubling of serum creatinine, a 30% decline in initial eGFR or incidence of eGFR < 15 ml/min/1.73 m2, whichever occurred first. Multivariable logistic regression or Cox proportional hazards regression was performed, as appropriate. Results During a median follow-up of 26 [interquartile range (IQR): 12, 36] months, 65 (12.43%) patients suffered a rapid CKD progression and 172 (32.89%) composite kidney events occurred at a rate of 32.3/100 patient-years in the high RDW group, compared with 14.7/100 patient-years of the remainder. The annual eGFR change was clearly steeper in high RDW group {-3.48 [95% confidence interval (CI): -4.84, -2.12] ml/min/1.73 m2/year vs. -1.86 [95% CI: -2.27, -1.45] ml/min/1.73 m2/year among those with RDW of >14.5% and ≤14.5%, respectively, P for between-group difference <0.05}. So was the risk of rapid renal function loss (odds ratio = 6.79, 95% CI: 3.08-14.97) and composite kidney outcomes (hazards ratio = 1.51, 95% CI: 1.02-2.23). The significant association remained consistent in the sensitivity analysis. Conclusion Increased RDW value is independently associated with accelerated CKD deterioration. Findings of this study suggest RDW be a potential indicator for risk of CKD progression.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION: Red cell distribution width (RDW) shows the heterogeneity of erythrocyte size associated with inflammation and various clinical conditions including in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD). Systemic inflammation and oxidative stress were commonly found in CKD patients.
AIM: This study aimed to examine the relationship of nutritional status, length of hospital stay (LOS), and clinical outcome to RDW in CKD patients.
METHODS: We conducted a retrospective cohort study of 1736 patients CKD patients who admitted from January 2017 to August 2020, aged between 18 and 60 years and were hospitalized at Wahidin General Hospital. From those, 239 were consulted with clinical nutrition specialist, of which 59 patients eligible with the criteria inclusion. Data were collected through medical records and through electronic data (biochemical data). RDW was categorized into normal and high RDW group, nutritional status based on subjective global assessment (SGA), LOS <10 days and clinical outcome based on conditions at the time of hospital discharged. Data were analyzed using SPSS version 25.0.
RESULTS: The data of 59 patients were analyzed, the mean age was 50.42 years (normal RDW) and 47.24 years (high RDW), most of them are women (57.7% vs. 60.6%). There were 42 patients with moderate malnutrition (23 normal RDW and 19 high RDW) and 17 patients with severe malnutrition (3 normal RDW and 14 with high RDW). The study found a significant differences between normal RDW and high RDW (p 0.021), but not significant differences in LOS (p 0.890) and clinical outcome (p 0.968). There were a significant differences in the levels of hemoglobin (p = 0.001), RBG (p = 0.030), and serum sodium level (p = 0.010). Patient with LOS < 10 days had lower sodium levels and more severe anemia when compared with LOS > 10 days and the poor clinical outcome had a heavier degree of anemia compared to the good clinical outcomes.
CONCLUSION: Poor nutritional status was associated with an increase in RDW, degree of anemia, and sodium level.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Red cell distribution width (RDW) is recently emerging as a prognostic indicator in many cardiovascular diseases. However, less is known about its predictive role in patients undergoing transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI). METHODS We retrospectively included very high-risk patients with severe aortic valve stenosis undergoing TAVI between February 2012 and December 2019. Patients were classified according to RDW tertiles. Our primary endpoint was long-term all-cause mortality. The secondary endpoint was a composite of in-hospital major adverse events as defined by the Valve Academic Research Consortium 2 criteria and/or long-term all-cause mortality. RESULTS A total of 424 patients [median age 83.5 years, 52.6% females] were analysed. After a median follow-up of 1.55 years, all-cause mortality was 25.5%. At the multivariate-adjusted Cox regression analysis, patients in the highest RDW tertile were associated with a higher risk for all-cause mortality [hazard ratio [HR] 1.73, 95%confidence interval [CI] 1.02-2.95] compared with the lowest tertile. When considering RDW as a continuous variable, we found an 11% increased risk in overall mortality [HR 1.11, 95% CI 1.00-1.24] for each increased point in RDW. The highest RDW tertile was also independently associated with the occurrence of the composite endpoint [odds ratio [OR] 2.10, 95% CI 1.17-3.76] compared with lower tertiles. CONCLUSIONS In our cohort, elevated basal RDW values were independent predictors of increased long-term mortality and higher rate of in-hospital adverse events. The inclusion of a routinely available biomarker as RDW, may help the pre-operative risk assessment in potential TAVI candidates and optimise their management.

Abstract
Background Hematological parameters like red cell distribution width (RDW) and mean platelet volume (MPV) were reported to be associated with inflammation, atherosclerosis, and chronic kidney disease (CKD) progression. In this study, we evaluated RDW and MPV along with clinical features in patients with advanced CKD. We also aimed to detect clues for causative relations concerning these parameters, renal function and comorbidities. Methods Stage 3-5 CKD patients (627 total) were included (mean age 63.1 years, 48.3% male). Patients with malignancies, cirrhosis, infections, severe anemia, and systemic inflammation were excluded. Patients were evaluated for clinical features and grouped for comparison using median RDW and MPV. Linear regression models were generated to predict potential influences on RDW and MPV. Results Mean estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) was 27.3 mL/min/1.73m2. Mean Charlson Comorbidity Index (CCI) score was 5.83 ± 2.06. Patients with high RDW (n = 303) were older with higher CRP and CCI, they also had lower eGFR, hemoglobin, and albumin (P < 0.001 for all). Patients with low MPV (n = 311) had lower eGFR, and platelet counts (P = 0.015 and 0.017). eGFR was negatively correlated with RDW after adjusting for age, gender and comorbidities. In a further adjusted model RDW was associated with CRP, CCI, hemoglobin and albumin (P < 0.05 for all), not with eGFR. MPV was positively correlated with eGFR in our adjusted, and fully adjusted regression models (P = 0.003). Conclusion In this study, we found that high RDW is associated with comorbidity burden, anemia, and inflammatory status in patients with advanced CKD. Meanwhile, low MPV seems to be associated with worse renal function.

Abstract
Red blood cell distribution width (RDW) is a measurement of the variation in size and volume of red blood cells (RBCs). Increased RDW, indicating a high heterogeneity of RBCs, is prominently associated with a variety of illnesses, especially cardiovascular diseases. However, the significance of this association to the onset and progression of cardiovascular and renal diseases is unknown. We hypothesized that a genetic predisposition for increased RDW is an early risk factor for cardiovascular and renal comorbidities. Since there is no known animal model of increased RDW, we examined a CRISPR/Cas9 gene-edited rat model (RfflTD) that presented with features of hematologic abnormalities as well as severe cardiac and renal comorbidities. A mass spectrometry-based quantitative proteomic analysis indicated anemia of these rats, which presented with significant downregulation of hemoglobin and haptoglobin. Decreased hemoglobin and increased RDW were further observed in RfflTD through complete blood count. Next, a systematic temporal assessment detected an early increased RDW in RfflTD, which was prior to the development of other comorbidities. The primary mutation of RfflTD is a 50 bp deletion in a non-coding region, and our study has serendipitously identified this locus as a novel quantitative trait locus (QTL) for RDW. To our knowledge, our study is the first to experimentally pinpoint a QTL for RDW and provides a novel genetic rat model mimicking the clinical association of increased RDW with poor cardio-renal outcome.

Abstract
We audited the records of unselected hospitalised HIV-positive adults admitted to a University-affiliated inner London hospital to identify the frequency of elevated red blood cell distribution width (RDW), and potential associations with specific diagnoses, and with outcome. Of 259 patients audited, 188 (73%) were men. Patients’ median age was 47 years (interquartile range = 41–54). An elevated RDW was seen in 50 patients (19%); 200 (77%) had an elevated C-reactive protein (CRP), and 77 (30%) had a low haemoglobin. Only five patients had an elevated RDW without an elevated CRP and/or low haemoglobin. An elevated RDW was associated with a wide range of infectious, inflammatory, and malignant conditions similar to observed associations reported in the general non-HIV infected adult population. Additionally an elevated RDW occurred both in patients with well-controlled HIV infection and in receipt of antiretroviral therapy, as well as in those with newly diagnosed and poorly-controlled infection. Five (10%) of 50 patients with an elevated RDW needed intensive care unit (ICU) admission and two (4%) died. Two (0.95%) of 209 patients with a normal RDW needed ICU admission and four (1.9%) died. The findings of this audit are limited by the relatively small number of patients and the single site nature of the audit.

Abstract
Primary biliary cholangitis (PBC) is a chronic disease that is increasingly being recognized in recent years. In this study, we sought to identify noninvasive markers of the severity of cirrhosis in patients with PBC based on routinely investigated laboratory parameters.Ninety-four patients with histologically-confirmed PBC based on liver biopsy performed between January 2013 and December 2017 at the First Hospital of Jilin University were divided into 2 groups: early-stage cirrhosis (fibrosis stage F1 and F2; n = 74) and advanced-stage cirrhosis (fibrosis stage F3 and F4; n = 20).Patients with advanced-stage had significantly higher red blood cell distribution width (RDW) (15.2 vs 13.7; P = .003) and significantly lower platelet (163.35 vs 202.73; P = .032) and lymphocyte counts (1.47 vs 1.79; P = .018) as compared with patients with early-stage cirrhosis. Advanced-stage cirrhosis was associated with significantly higher RDW to platelet ratio (RPR), RDW to lymphocyte ratio (RLR), aspartate aminotransferase to platelet ratio index (APRI), and fibrosis index based on the 4 factors (FIB-4) as compared with early-stage cirrhosis. RLR showed the highest area under receiver operating characteristic curve (AUROC) (0.744). The sensitivity and specificity of RLR were 65% and 78.3%, respectively. RLR had higher AUROC than the other 3 noninvasive markers.The noninvasive markers RPR, RLR, APRI, and FIB-4 showed good diagnostic accuracy for advanced-stage cirrhosis. These markers are easily acquired by routine laboratory tests and are reproducible predictors of the severity of PBC. RLR is a novel marker that may serve as a valuable supplement to APRI and FIB-4 for predicting the severity of cirrhosis.
