Abstract
Studies on the prevalence and factors of depression, and anxiety symptoms from a work-ascribed or causal perspective are not available and studies on the prevalence of occupational stress in Ethiopia are limited. Therefore, this study aimed to determine the prevalence of occupational depression, job anxiety, and occupational stress, and to identify their determinants in healthcare workers. We conducted a multicenter cross-sectional study in selected public hospitals in the Central and Southern Ethiopia from 16th January to 28th February 2023. We used stratified random sampling to select 9 public hospitals from three strata: primary, general and tertiary hospitals. We collected data using scales of perceived occupational stress, occupational depression inventory, and job anxiety. We performed a confirmatory factor analysis followed by determining the prevalence of those mental symptoms and identifying independent factors using multiple ordinal logistic regression. Among 1426 healthcare workers, the overall prevalence of occupational depressive, job anxiety, and occupational stress symptoms were 39.0%, 57.6%, and 68.0%, respectively. Females, medical specialists, participants with a history of disease or injury, those with low job dissatisfaction, higher sleeping disorder scores, higher life-threatening events (LTEs) scores, and longer working hours were more likely to report occupational depressive symptoms. Participants with poor perceived health significantly increased the odds of reporting job anxiety symptoms. Participants with low job satisfaction, a history of workplace verbal violence, higher scores for sleep disorders, and higher LTEs score had significantly greater odds of reporting both job anxiety and occupational stress symptoms. Younger participants were also more likely to report occupational stress symptoms. Our study highlights the need to prioritize workplace mental health interventions for healthcare workers. The study also suggested the need to address gender, educational level, job satisfaction, and sleep hygiene, develop coping mechanisms for LTEs, prevent workplace violence, and manage of working hours per week to enhance the mental well-being of healthcare workers in Ethiopia.

Abstract
Background The association of insomnia treatment with medical costs is not well characterized in Japan, despite the high economic burden of insomnia. Objective The aim of this study was to investigate the impact of suvorexant, the first dual orexin receptor antagonist, on direct medical costs in insomnia patients. Patients and Methods This retrospective cohort study, conducted using a large-scale claims database, included Japanese patients with diagnosed insomnia receiving suvorexant who were treatment naïve or treatment switchers (pre-treated with a different hypnotic and switched to suvorexant). Total medical costs were estimated for 1 year before and after suvorexant initiation; p-values were calculated for the difference in costs. Results Of the 1730 patients included, 1116 were treatment naïve and 614 were treatment switchers. Switching to suvorexant did not change the total treatment cost (US$4693–US$4692; p = 0.9964). Although treatment-naïve patients on average incurred US$3259 after suvorexant initiation, much of the additional cost was attributed to drugs other than hypnotics in the outpatient setting (US$332; p < 0.0001). While ~ 10% of the additional medical costs in the outpatient setting were attributable to hypnotics in both groups (treatment naïve: US$106, p < 0.0001; treatment switchers: US$115, p < 0.0001), no difference was observed in the inpatient setting. Conclusion Suvorexant as an initial insomnia treatment was associated with higher total medical costs, given the additional burden of initiating treatment and monitoring costs associated with a new insomnia diagnosis. However, despite a switch from another hypnotic, suvorexant did not increase the incremental economic burden. The hypnotic cost remained proportionately low, demonstrating that suvorexant initiation did not raise the cost of insomnia treatment. Abstract
OBJECTIVES Sleep disturbance and mental health are challenges for healthcare workers (HCWs). Especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, they experienced more severe sleep and mental health problems. However, the association between sleep disturbance and the mental health of HCWs is still controversial. This study aimed to systematically review the relationship by conducting a systematic review and meta-analysis. METHOD Two researchers retrieved the literature from Web of Science, PubMed, EMBASE, CINAHL, Psyclnfo, and Cochrane Library from the establishment of the databases until November 20, 2021. We used the New Castle-Ottawa Scale (NOS) and Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) to evaluate the risk of bias in prospective research and cross-sectional research, respectively. The major exposure was HCWs' sleep disturbance, and the major outcome was mental health. The correlation coefficients (r), regression coefficients (β) and odds ratios (OR) of the included studies were integrated. RESULT Fifty-nine studies were included for qualitative analysis, of which 30 studies could be combined and entered into quantitative analysis. There were 23 studies during the COVID-19 pandemic among the 59 included studies. The results of the meta-analysis showed that the correlation coefficient between sleep disturbance and mental health was 0.43 (95% CI: 0.39-0.47). HCWs with sleep disturbance had a 3.74 (95% CI: 2.76-5.07) times higher risk of mental health problems than those without sleep disturbance. The correlation coefficient during the COVID-19 epidemic was 0.45 (95% CI: 0.37-0.53), while it was 0.40 (95% CI: 0.36-0.44) during the non-epidemic period. Subgroup analysis compared the OR results in epidemic and non-epidemic periods of COVID-19, which were 4.48 (95% CI: 2.75-5.07) and 3.74 (95% CI: 2.74-7.32), respectively. CONCLUSION Sleep disturbance and mental health problems were positively correlated among HCWs. Particularly in the COVID-19 pandemic, more attention should be given to this issue.

Abstract
Depressive symptoms are a common mental health problem among adolescents, which may affect their physical and mental health development and impose heavy burdens on individual families and society. This study aimed to examine the associations between sleep duration, academic pressure, and depressive symptoms among Chinese adolescents and to construct the mediation model to explore the mediating effect of sleep duration. The data are from the China Family Panel Studies (CFPS). Methodologically, the aforementioned associations were explored by constructing a structural equation model and applying multivariate multilevel logistic regression. In this study, we found that approximately 6.49% of the 3724 Chinese adolescents had depressive symptoms. Sleep duration of <6 h/night (OR = 2.39, 95%CI = 1.33-4.32) and high/maximum academic pressure (high: OR = 1.43, 95%CI = 1.02-1.99; maximum: OR = 2.43, 95%CI = 1.58-3.73) were both associated with an increased risk of depressive symptoms in adolescents. Meanwhile, the multiplicative interaction between sleep duration and academic pressure was significantly associated with depressive symptoms in adolescents (p < 0.001). The sleep duration played a partial mediating role in the relationship between academic pressure and depressive symptoms (a*b = 0.006, 95%BootCI = 0.001-0.012). Our study highlights that it is essential to mitigate the academic pressure of adolescents to increase their sleep duration and further reduce the occurrence of depressive symptoms by adopting corresponding preventive measures.

Abstract
Mental disorders represent critical public health challenges as they are leading contributors to the global burden of disease and intensely influence social and financial welfare of individuals. The present comprehensive review concentrate on the two mental disorders: Major depressive Disorder (MDD) and Bipolar Disorder (BD) with noteworthy publications during the last ten years. There is a big need nowadays for phenotypic characterization of psychiatric disorders with biomarkers. Electroencephalography (EEG) signals could offer a rich signature for MDD and BD and then they could improve understanding of pathophysiological mechanisms underling these mental disorders. In this review, we focus on the literature works adopting neural networks fed by EEG signals. Among those studies using EEG and neural networks, we have discussed a variety of EEG based protocols, biomarkers and public datasets for depression and bipolar disorder detection. We conclude with a discussion and valuable recommendations that will help to improve the reliability of developed models and for more accurate and more deterministic computational intelligence based systems in psychiatry. This review will prove to be a structured and valuable initial point for the researchers working on depression and bipolar disorders recognition by using EEG signals.

Abstract
BACKGROUND To distinguish insomnia comorbid with depression (ICD) from chronic insomnia disorder (CID) by exploring the relationship between serum levels of frequently overlooked anti-inflammatory cytokines and cognitive function. METHODS A total of 42 ICD patients, 63 CID patients, and 42 healthy control subjects were enrolled in the study. The Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index and Hamilton Depression Rating Scale were used to assess sleep quality and depression severity, respectively. The Chinese-Beijing version of Montreal Cognitive Assessment scale (MoCA-C) and Nine-Box Maze Test (NBMT) were used to assess cognitive function. Serum levels of anti-inflammatory interleukins (IL-1RA, IL-4, IL-5, IL-10, IL-13, and IL-28A), transforming growth factor (TGF)-β1, granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor, interferon-γ, and the chemokine regulated upon activation, normal T cell expressed and secreted (RANTES) were measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. RESULTS The ICD group had significantly more errors in the spatial reference task (H=2.55, Ps=0.03) and spatial working memory task (H=5.67, Ps<0.01) of the NBMT, as well as lower levels of IL-1RA (H=-2.85, Ps=0.01), IL-4 (H=-3.28, Ps<0.01), IL-5 (H=-3.35, Ps<0.01), IL-10 (H=-4.46, Ps<0.01), and IL-28A (H=-2.75, Ps=0.02) than control subjects. Compared with the CID group, the ICD group had significantly more errors in the spatial reference memory task (H=-2.84, Ps=0.01) of the NBMT, and lower levels of IL-5 (H=3.41, Ps<0.01), IL-10 (H=5.30, Ps<0.01), IL-13 (H=3.89, Ps<0.01), and GM-CSF (H=2.72, Ps=0.02). A partial correlation analysis showed that the level of one or more of IL-4, IL-5, IL-10, IL-13, and TGF-β1 was positively correlated with cognitive function (MoCA-C score and/or performance in spatial memory task) in ICD patients. CONCLUSION ICD is a distinct condition that can be distinguished from CID based on immune dysfunction and specific types of cognitive dysfunction.

Abstract
This study examined sleep concerns among direct-care workers in long-term care and their perceived need for a sleep intervention. Thirty-five participants reported their sleep concerns and willingness to participate in a sleep intervention with preferred delivery forms/content. Multiple sleep characteristics were assessed via ecological momentary assessment and actigraphy for 2 weeks. Eighty percent reported at least one sleep concern with insomnia-related concerns being most prevalent. Those with insomnia-related concerns tended to have long sleep onset latency, frequent awakenings, suboptimal (long) sleep duration, and long naps. Most participants (66%) expressed interest in participating in a sleep intervention either online or in group sessions; interest was higher in those with insomnia-related concerns. Mindfulness strategies were most preferred, followed by cognitive-behavioral therapy and sleep hygiene education. The high prevalence of insomnia-related concerns in direct-care workers needs to be addressed for the well-being of these workers and for the quality of geriatric care delivery.
