Abstract
Background: This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of integrating digital technology into cephalometric measurement teaching. Methods: In total, 94 undergraduates of stomatology were recruited and randomly allocated to two groups. According to the cross-over design, both groups completed cephalometric measurements by the traditional hand-drawn method and digital technology (the Dolphin software) in different order. In the traditional hand-drawn method, students depicted the outline of the craniofacial anatomical structures on sulfuric transfer paper first, then marked the measurement points and completed the measurement of line spacings and angles; by digital technology, they marked the points in the software and adjust the automatically generated outlines of the structures to obtain the results. Two professional orthodontists were invited as instructors and their measurements were set as standards. An online questionnaire was also used to investigate students' attitudes toward digital technology being used in the cephalometric teaching process. Results: There were significant differences of students' measurements ( P 1-SNA<0.01, P 1-SNB=0.01 and P 1-L1-NB (mm)<0.01; SNA: sella-nasion-subspinale angle, SNB: sella-nasion-supramental angle, L1-NB (mm): the distance from the lower central incisor tip to the nasion-supramental plane) between the traditional method and digital technology. Besides, the results of most items by digital technology were closer to the standards than those by the traditional method, including five items with statistical significance ( P 2-SNB<0.05, P 2-L1-NB (mm)<0.01, P 2-FMA<0.05, P 2-FMIA<0.05, P 2-IMPA<0.01), while three items were the opposite ( P 2-SNA<0.05, P 2-ANB (mm)<0.01, P 2-NA-PA<0.01). The questionnaire showed more students preferred digital technology (33%) as a better teaching method than the traditional method (2%) and 72% of participants thought they had mastered 50-80% of cephalometric knowledge after the course. Conclusions: This study demonstrated effectiveness and acceptance of the course applying digital technology during the cephalometric teaching process.

Abstract
Aim: Incorporating mobile applications into traditional clinical teaching methods to assess the impact of game-based mobile applications on the practical knowledge and skill levels of venous blood specimen collection among nursing students. Background: Although game-based mobile applications are recognized as teaching aids that replicate clinical practice in a safe environment, their impact and effectiveness are relatively unknown in the education of nursing students. Design: In September 2021, a single-blind randomized controlled trial was conducted in a university-affiliated hospital in China. Methods: One hundred five nursing students were randomly divided into the control group (n = 53) and the experimental group (n = 52). All participants received the same theoretical and operational training. For the next 7 days, the experimental group used a game-based mobile application, and the control group practiced venous blood specimen collection using traditional teaching methods. We observed the before-and-after comparison of the skill performance and learning curve of both groups of participants. Results: The final skill performance scores of the nursing students in the experimental group were higher than that of the nursing students in the control group (P < 0.001). Analysis of the learning curve showed that to master the skills, the experimental and control groups needed an average of 8 and 10 repetitions, respectively. Conclusion: This mobile application has a positive learning effect on nursing students' venous blood specimen collection skills in the short term. It should be applied to the training of clinical nursing skills.

Abstract
Background Patients may be endangered if new graduate nurses cannot recognize and manage anaphylactic shock. Consequently, enhancing the new graduate nurses’ understanding of their roles and responsibilities during the rescue of a patient with anaphylactic shock is important. However, due to its inherent limitations, traditional classroom-based teaching makes it difficult to explore the potential of the students. Although popular simulation teaching has several notable advantages, it has not been proven to be effective in training inexperienced nurses on anaphylactic shock. We investigated the effect of a standardized patient-based simulation on the behaviors of new graduate nurses’ during anaphylactic shock rescue to identify an effective and safe method for contemporary nursing education. Methods Except for the ill or pregnant, all the new graduate nurses were included in the study as students to undergo a standardized patient-based simulation conducted in the clinical skills center of a general hospital. The simulation training was designed to teach students to recognize the signs and symptoms of anaphylactic shock, place the patient in the correct position, stop the ongoing intravenous infusion of the antibiotic which triggers the anaphylactic shock, restart an intravenous infusion on a new infusion apparatus, give 100% oxygen via a nasal cannula or mask, preserve airway patency, call the rapid response team, and correctly administer the medications prescribed by the clinicians. Before and after the training, the instructors evaluated each student’s skills and behaviors using a clinical competency evaluation list. After the training, all students completed the Chinese version of the Simulation Design Scale (SDS) to demonstrate their satisfaction with the program and then participated in semi-structured interviews with their instructors. Results All 104 graduate nurses had a significant improvement on the 6 competencies of the clinical competency evaluation list after the simulation training (P < 0.001). The SDS scores revealed that the students were highly satisfied with all the aspects of the simulation training (the 20 satisfaction rates were all above 90.00%). During the semi-structured interviews, most of the new graduate nurses reported that simulation training in the management of anaphylactic shock was critical and would guide them in clinical practice. Conclusion Simulation training in anaphylactic shock is a potentially viable and effective method for teaching new graduate nurses to manage clinical incidents.

Abstract
Background Vaccination is a fundamental part of all levels—local to worldwide—of public health, and it can be considered one of humanity's greatest achievements in the control and elimination of infectious diseases. Teaching immunization and vaccination can be monotonous and tiring. It is necessary to develop new approaches for teaching these themes in nursing school. Objective We aimed to develop and validate a serious game about immunization and vaccination for Brazilian nursing students. Methods We developed a quiz-type game, Immunitates, using design and educational theoretical models and Brazilian National Health Guidelines. The game’s heuristics and content were evaluated with 2 different instruments by a team of experts. A sample of nursing students evaluated the validity of the game’s heuristics only. We calculated the content validity index (CVI) for each evaluation. Results The study included 49 experts and 15 nursing students. All evaluations demonstrated high internal consistency (Cronbach α≥.86). The game’s heuristics (experts: CVI 0.75-1.0; students: CVI 0.67-1.0) and the game’s contents demonstrated validity (experts: CVI 0.73-1.0). Participants identified some specific areas for improvement in the next version. Conclusions The serious game appears to be valid. It is intended as a support tool for nursing students in the teaching–learning process and as a tool for continuing education for nurses.

Abstract
The emergence of digital educational technologies (DET) raises questions regarding the personalization of both teaching and care. DET use implies profound changes with consequences in nursing care and in nursing teaching-learning process. With the purpose of contributing to the improvement of the teaching-learning process through the use of DET, an exploratory-descriptive, cross-sectional, and observational study, with a quantitative approach (descriptive and inferential statistics), was developed. Online questionnaires were applied (n = 140 students and n = 23 teachers) after ethics committee approval. Results point to low cost and access without time/space limits as the main benefits, and decreased interaction, less physical contact, and technical difficulties as constraints. Globally, there was no difference between students and teachers in the use of DET. Still, men report more constraints than women. In this sample, the use of DET is still at an early stage. Both students and teachers are still unfamiliar with the scope and possibilities of these tools, not taking full advantage of the potential they have to offer. The impact of DET used in personalized nursing care is still yet to be understood.
