Abstract
PURPOSE This study compared the effects of polarized running training adapted to the menstrual cycle (MC) phases versus polarized training adapted contrary to the MC on endurance performance and cardiovascular parameters. METHODS Thirty-three naturally menstruating, moderately trained females (age: 26 ± 4 years; BMI: 22.3 ± 3.2 kg/m2; V ˙ O2max/rel: 40.35 ± 4.61 ml/min/kg) were randomly assigned to a control (CON) and intervention (INT) group. Both groups participated in a load-matched eight-week running training intervention. In the INT, high-intensity sessions were aligned with the mid and late follicular phase, low-intensity sessions with the early and mid-luteal phase, and recovery with the late luteal and early follicular phase. In the CON, high-intensity sessions were matched to the late luteal and early follicular phase, and recovery to the mid and late follicular phase. Endurance performance and cardiovascular parameters were assessed at baseline and after the intervention. RESULTS Twenty-six females completed the intervention. A repeated measures ANOVA determined no time × group interaction effect for any parameter. A significant time effect was found for maximal oxygen uptake (F(1,12) = 18.753, p = 0.005, ηp2 = 0.630), the velocity at the ventilatory threshold one (F(1,12) = 10.704, p = 0.007, ηp2 = 0.493) and two (F(1,12) = 7.746, p = .018, ηp2 = .413). CONCLUSION The training intervention improved endurance performance in both groups, with no further benefit observed from the MC-adapted polarized training in a group-based analysis. Replications with an extended intervention period, a larger sample size, and a more reliable MC determination are warranted.

Abstract
The primary purpose of this study was to examine how the type and magnitude of changes in running behavior, as a consequence of COVID-19 pandemic restrictions, influence running-related injuries. Secondarily, we aimed to examine how lifestyle and psychosocial well-being measures may influence running behavior change. An online survey was advertised to individuals over the age of 18 that currently run or have previously participated in running for exercise. The survey questions examined injury history and new injuries sustained during COVID-19 restrictions, as well as changes related to training behavior changes, training environment changes, social behaviors, and psychosocial well-being. Changes reflected differences in running behaviors prior to COVID-19 restrictions (1 month prior to COVID-19 restrictions being imposed) and during COVID-19 restrictions (May 5 to June 10, 2020). A total of 1,035 runners were included in the analysis. Current injuries sustained during COVID-19 occurred in 9.5% of the runners. Injured runners made a greater number of total changes (p = 0.031) as well as training-related (p = 0.042) and environment-related (p = 0.017) changes compared with uninjured runners. A significant relationship was found between injury and those that reported less time to exercise to changes in work environment (p = 0017). This study highlights the multi-dimensional nature of running-related injuries and the need to consider the interaction of multiple changes in running behavior, rather than isolating single factors. Greater understanding of the underlying causes of running-related injuries can help reduce the risk of future injury.

Abstract
Objective The purpose of this study was to measure the reliability, internal consistency, construct validity, and floor and ceiling effects of the Brazilian version of the Self-Estimated Functional Inability Because of Pain Questionnaire for athletes (SEFIP-sport). Methods This was a validity questionnaire study developed in a university community. Athletes or practitioners of any sport undertaking regular practice (weekly frequency of at least twice a week for at least 6 months), with the ability to read and write in Brazilian Portuguese, were included. We evaluated disability by means of the SEFIP-sport and the Roland-Morris Disability Questionnaire for general pain, pain intensity by means of a numerical rating scale, quality of life by means of the Short-Form Health Survey, and predicted disability by means of the Örebro Musculoskeletal Pain Questionnaire. Results Two hundred and twenty-one athletes or regular practitioners of sport were recruited and included in the study. We observed adequate values of reliability (κ ≥ 0.40, intraclass correlation coefficient = 0.91), internal consistency (Cronbach's α ≥ 0.81), and correlations (r s ≥ -0.376) of the total SEFIP-sport score with the numerical rating scale; the pain, vitality, and social aspects domains of the Short-Form Health Survey; the Roland-Morris questionnaire; and the Örebro Musculoskeletal Pain Questionnaire. Conclusion The Brazilian Portuguese version of the SEFIP-sport demonstrated adequate psychometric properties for use in athletes.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Self-Estimated Functional Inability because of Pain (SEFIP) is a questionnaire specifically designed to measure musculoskeletal pain or discomfort. OBJECTIVE To perform translation and cross-cultural adaptation of the SEFIP for dancers (SEFIP-dance), for use in Brazilian Portuguese. In addition, as a secondary objective, we adapted the translated version of SEFIP-dance for use among athletes or exercise practitioners (SEFIP-sport). DESIGN AND SETTING Questionnaire translation and cross-cultural adaptation study conducted at a public university. METHODS The Brazilian version of the SEFIP-dance questionnaire was developed following the processes of translation (involving two translators with Brazilian Portuguese as their mother tongue and fluency in English), backtranslation (involving two translators with English as their mother tongue and fluency in Brazilian Portuguese), committee review and pre-testing. SEFIP-sport was developed following the processes of content and face validation. RESULTS SEFIP-dance was applied to 30 dancers, of mean age 22.38 years (standard deviation [SD] = 3.41), among whom 14 were men (46.66%). The participants understood 100% of the SEFIP-dance items and alternatives. SEFIP-sport was applied to 30 athletes or physical exercise practitioners, of mean age 25.09 years (SD = 8.93), among whom 25 were men (86.33%). The participants understood 100% of the -SEFIP-sport items and alternatives. CONCLUSION The Brazilian Portuguese versions of SEFIP-dance, translated and cross-culturally adapted for dancers, and SEFIP-sport, adapted for athletes or physical exercise practitioners, were shown to have adequate levels of understanding.

Abstract
ABSTRACT Street running is an accessible, low-cost form of exercise. However, the occurrence of musculoskeletal injuries may hinder regular practice. This study aimed at estimating the prevalence of injuries in Brazilian street runners and the associated factors. A meta-analysis of Brazilian studies was performed to investigate the prevalence and risk factors of injuries in male and female recreational street runners aged ≥18 years. We excluded systematic review studies, research conducted on professional athletes or triathletes, and duplicate articles. The following databases were used: SciELO, LILACS, PubMed, Web of Science, and Google Scholar. Keywords such as “prevalence,” “injury,” “recreational street runners,” and “Brazil” were used. Prevalence analysis was performed using the random effect model, and a funnel plot was used to assess publication bias. Then the Begg-Mazumdar and Egger tests were applied to quantify the graph results. The Prevalence Critical Appraisal Instrument was used to evaluate the methodological quality of the studies. Associated factors were analyzed with meta-regression analysis. Twenty-three studies with 3,786 runners were included in the review. The prevalence of injury was 36.5% (95% confidence interval [CI] 30.8-42.5%), and a running distance per week greater than 20 km was a predictive variable of injuries. A higher prevalence of injuries was observed in men than in women (28.3%, 95% CI 22.5-35.0%), the knee was the most affected site of injury (32.9%, 95% CI 26.7-39.6%), and muscle injuries were the most frequent type of injury (27.9%, 95% CI 18.2-40.1%). This is the first national meta-analysis conducted to investigate the prevalence of injuries in recreational street runners. Although the prevalence of injuries was moderate, caution is required in terms of the weekly duration of running. Male runners are more susceptible, and muscle and knee injuries are the most common. Abstract
RESUMO No Brasil, a corrida de rua é o segundo esporte mais praticado; entretanto, pode ocasionar lesões musculoesqueléticas. Estudos sobre o tema são importantes para nortear estratégias de prevenção e intervenção. Assim, o objetivo foi investigar a prevalência de lesões e os fatores associados em corredores de rua da cidade de Juiz de Fora(MG). Trata-se de um estudo observacional do tipo transversal. A amostra foi selecionada por conveniência. Foram incluídos corredores amadores, entre 18 e 60 anos e que realizavam treinos em diferentes locais da cidade. Foram excluídos participantes com histórico de fratura e osteossíntese em membros inferiores ou que praticassem outro esporte que não fosse a musculação. Para analisar os dados, foram utilizados os testes t de Student, Mann-Whitney e X2 (α=0,05). Os participantes foram alocados em grupo lesão (GL, n=37) e grupo sem lesão (GSL, n=113). A prevalência de lesão foi de 24,7%. O GL praticava a corrida há mais tempo (76,2 ± 9,1 × 36,7 ± 39,0 meses; P<.01), teve menor aumento da frequência semanal do treinamento (49,5% × 54,2%; P=.04), realizou menos alongamento prévio (48,6% × 75,2%; P=.02), apresentou maior percentual de análise da marcha para escolha do calçado (62,1% × 43,3%; P=.04) e uso de palmilha (35,1% X 14,1%; P=<.01). A prevalência de lesões foi baixa. Os que correm há mais tempo têm maior risco de lesão mesmo sem incremento na frequência semanal. O alongamento foi protetor e a prescrição de calçado e palmilha indiscriminados não garantiram resultados satisfatórios.

Abstract
RESUMO Introdução: Observa-se um pronunciado aumento da popularidade das corridas de rua; consequentemente, há mais adeptos dessa prática. Assim sendo, vários estudos vêm buscando diversas abordagens da modalidade, visando desvendar os mecanismos que a compõem. Objetivo: Verificar a incidência de lesões em praticantes de corrida de rua do município de Criciúma, SC, assim como outros fatores associados, como perfil dos praticantes, características do treinamento e existência de acompanhamento profissional. Métodos: Foi realizado um estudo descritivo transversal com 88 corredores (56 homens e 32 mulheres). Resultados: A média de idade foi 36 anos, sendo que a maioria dos participantes praticava corrida três vezes por semana (55,4%) e, do total da amostra, 43,2% já haviam tido alguma lesão, sendo o joelho (52,6%) o local mais acometido. Entre os que já tinham sofrido lesão, houve forte correlação entre quantidade de lesões e o tempo de prática da modalidade (r = 0,269) e os que percorriam maior distância média diária de treino (r = 0,226). No entanto, os dados demonstraram que o trabalho preventivo não foi eficaz na diminuição de incidência de lesão (r = -0,133). Conclusão: Há uma relação direta entre distância percorrida e lesão, bem como o tempo de prática. A orientação de profissionais não tem influência significativa na redução das lesões, ou seja, muitas lesões podem ser decorrentes do volume e da intensidade dos treinos prescritos ou executados de maneira equivocada, não respeitando o condicionamento físico atual e a individualidade biológica, na perspectiva de superar seus próprios limites de qualquer modo. Ressaltamos a importância de mais estudos que relacionem a progressão de treinamento, lesão e prevenção.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Road running is a growing sport. OBJECTIVES: To determine the prevalence of
sports-related dermatoses among road runners. METHODS Cross-sectional study of 76 road runners. Assessment was performed by means
of a questionnaire, interview, and clinical examination. The chi-square and
linear trend tests were used for analysis. RESULTS Most athletes were men (61%), aged 38±11 years, who ran mid- or
long-distance courses (60.5%) for 45 to 60 minutes (79%), for a total of
25-64 km (42.1% ) or more than 65 km (18.4%) per week. The most prevalent
injuries were blisters (50%), chafing (42.1%), calluses (34.2%),
onychomadesis (31.5%), tinea pedis (18.4%), onychocryptosis (14.5%), and
cheilitis simplex (14.5%). Among athletes running >64 km weekly, several
conditions were significantly more frequent: calluses (p<0.04), jogger's
nipple (p<0.004), cheilitis simplex (p<0.05), and tinea pedis
(p<0.004). There was a significant association between the weekly running
distance and the probability of skin lesions. Of the athletes in our sample,
57% trained before 10 a.m., 86% wore clothing and accessories for sun
protection, 62% wore sunscreen, and 19.7% experienced sunburn. Traumatic and
environmental dermatoses are common in practitioners of this outdoor sport,
and are influenced by the weekly running distance. CONCLUSION In this group of athletes, rashes, blisters, sunburn, and nail disorders
were recurrent complaints regardless of running distance. Calluses,
athlete's foot, chapped lips, and jogger's nipple predominated in
individuals who ran longer routes.

Abstract
INTRODUÇÃO: A corrida de rua é uma modalidade em expansão e tem sido utilizada como lazer, esporte ou prática competitiva.OBJETIVO: Verificar frequência de lesões desportivas e cutâneas em atletas de corrida de rua. Material eMÉTODOS: Estudo transversal de 220 atletas de corrida de rua com questionário e observação clínica. Análise pelos testes t, Mann-Whitney, Qui-quadrado e correlação de Spearman.RESULTADOS: Predominaram atletas do sexo masculino, adultos, praticantes de corrida de longa distância, que treinam em média 45 a 60 minutos com frequência de 2 e 3 vezes por semana e têm participação variável em competições. As principais lesões relatadas foram dor no joelho (30,4%), distensão/estiramento muscular (16,7%), tendinites (10,1%), dor nos quadris (7,3%) e dor na coluna (7%), sem diferenças estatísticas entre os gêneros. Houve associação significativa entre quilômetros percorridos em treino e lesões musculares nos homens (p = 0,0477, x = 9,60). O calçado esportivo teve relação com presença de unhas encravadas e perdas ungueais nas mulheres.CONCLUSÃO: Os homens apresentaram maior frequência de lesões musculares e as mulheres, de afecções cutâneas e ungueais.
