Abstract
Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE) or Lupus is a multifactorial autoimmune disease of multiorgan malfunctioning of extremely heterogeneous and unclear etiology that affects multiple organs and physiological systems. Some racial groups and women of childbearing age are more susceptible to SLE pathogenesis. Impressive progress has been made towards a better understanding of different immune components contributing to SLE pathogenesis. Recent investigations have uncovered the detailed mechanisms of inflammatory responses and organ damage. Various environmental factors, pathogens, and toxicants, including ultraviolet light, drugs, viral pathogens, gut microbiome metabolites, and sex hormones trigger the onset of SLE pathogenesis in genetically susceptible individuals and result in the disruption of immune homeostasis of cytokines, macrophages, T cells, and B cells. Diagnosis and clinical investigations of SLE remain challenging due to its clinical heterogeneity and hitherto only a few approved antimalarials, glucocorticoids, immunosuppressants, and some nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) are available for treatment. However, the adverse effects of renal and neuropsychiatric lupus and late diagnosis make therapy challenging. Additionally, SLE is also linked to an increased risk of cardiovascular diseases due to inflammatory responses and the risk of infection from immunosuppressive treatment. Due to the diversity of symptoms and treatment-resistant diseases, SLE management remains a challenging issue. Nevertheless, the use of next-generation therapeutics with stem cell and gene therapy may bring better outcomes to SLE treatment in the future. This review highlights the autoimmune responses as well as potential therapeutic interventions for SLE particularly focusing on the recent therapeutic advancements and challenges.

Abstract
Though more common earlier in life, increasing attention is being focused on the development of cutaneous lupus erythematosus (CLE) in patients with advancing age. Studies show that CLE is more common in older populations than previously thought, and all CLE subtypes are possible in this group. Just like patients in the third or fourth decade of life, CLE may appear alongside or independent of systemic lupus erythematosus. Older populations manifesting CLE for the first time seem to have a lower risk of progression to systemic disease than younger peers, and are more commonly White. CLE must be carefully distinguished from other skin conditions that have a predilection for presentation in older populations, including rosacea, lichen planus, and other autoimmune conditions such as dermatomyositis or pemphigus/pemphigoid. It is thought that most CLE in older populations is drug-induced, with drug-induced subacute cutaneous lupus erythematosus being the most common subtype. Management of CLE in older patients focuses on eliminating unnecessary medications known to induce CLE, and otherwise treatment proceeds similarly to that in younger patients, with a few special considerations.

Abstract
Certain T-cell lymphomas exhibit unique homing properties of the neoplastic lymphocytes for the subcutaneous fat. There are two primary forms of subcutaneous panniculitic lymphomas of T-cell origin. One falls under the designation of primary cutaneous gamma-delta T-cell lymphomas (PGD-TCL) whereby there is dominant involvement of the fat defininng a panniculitic form of PGD-TCL. The neoplastic cells are of the gamma-delta subset and are either double negative for CD4 and CD8 and/or can express CD8. They often have an aggressive clinical course. The other form of panniculitic T-cell lymphoma falls under the designation of subcutaneous panniculitis-like T-cell lymphoma (SPTCL). It represents a subcutaneous lymphoma derived from CD8+ T cells of the alpha-beta subset and typically has an indolent course. These two forms of panniculitic T-cell lymphoma exhibit overlapping histologic features with lupus profundus (LP), a putative form of panniculitic T-cell dyscrasia. We present three cases of PGD-TCL of the fat in the setting of lupus erythematosus (LE) (two cases) and dermatomyositis (DM) (one case), respectively. There were concurrent features of LE and DM in their lymphoma biopsies in two cases while a prior biopsy in one was interpreted as LP. In this latter case, the LP diagnosis presaged the diagnosis of panniculitic PGD-TCL by three years. One patient diagnosed with panniculitic PGD-TCL had hemophagocytic syndrome after developing a lupus-like complex including certain supportive serologies such as antibodies to double-stranded DNA following initiation of statin therapy. The second patient presented with PGD-TCL and concomitant features of anti-nuclear matrix 2 (NXP2) DM. The third patient presented in 2003 with LP and overlying skin features of acute LE, initially responding to Plaquenil, and then four years later was diagnosed with PGD-TCL heralded by Plaquenil treatment resistance. Two of the patients died of their lymphoma. All biopsies showed a characteristic histopathology of PGD-TCL. In two cases, the PGD-TCL was associated with overlying LE-cutaneous findings; another case had skin changes of lymphocyte-rich DM. In two cases, the MXA stain was strikingly positive, the surrogate type I interferon marker that is typically upregulated in biopsies of LE and DM. There are eight prior reported cases describing SPTCL with concomitant cutaneous changes of LE. In six cases there was an established history of LE, including LP responding initially to Plaquenil, similar to one of our cases. In the context of SPTCL or panniculitic PGD-TCL, panniculitic T-cell lymphomas can be associated with concomitant clinical and histologic features of LE or DM, including an upregulated type I interferon signature. Identifying histologic features associated with either of these prototypic autoimmune conditions should not be considered exclusionary to diagnosing any panniculitic T-cell lymphoma. A clinical, histomorphologic, and pathophysiologic continuum exists with LP, SPTCL and panniculitic PGD-TCL.

Abstract
The majority of patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) have cutaneous manifestations at some point in their disease course. The skin findings in SLE are classified as SLE-specific or SLE-nonspecific based on histopathologic findings. SLE-specific skin diseases include chronic cutaneous lupus erythematosus (CLE), subacute CLE, and acute CLE. There are subsets of skin lesions within each group and the likelihood of associated SLE varies among them. SLE-nonspecific lesions are more common in patients with SLE and tend to coincide with active systemic disease. SLE-nonspecific lesions may be seen as a feature of another disease process, including other connective tissue diseases. It is important for the rheumatologist to be familiar with the spectrum of cutaneous diseases in SLE to help prognosticate the likelihood of systemic disease and to ensure patients receive timely dermatologic care with the goal of controlling disease activity to prevent damage.

Abstract
PURPOSE Previous knowledge about the association between proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) exposure and subacute cutaneous lupus erythematosus (SCLE) was mainly based on limited case reports or few review studies. We aim to evaluate the clinical characteristics, management, and outcome in patients with PPIs-induced SCLE. METHODS Case reports and case series from 2000 to December 31, 2021, on SCLE induced by PPIs were collected and retrospectively analyzed. RESULTS A total of 29 patients (6 male and 23 female) were included from 19 studies, the median age was 61 years (range 19-85), and 65.5% of patients were ≥60 years old. 37.9% of patients had the history of autoimmune diseases. The incubation period of PPIs intro to SCLE was 6 weeks for PPI-naive patients and 2 weeks for those re-administration of PPIs. The most common symptoms were annular and polycyclic erythematous (74.1%), rash or maculopapular (48.1%), and scaly plaques (40.7%). Trunk (69.2%), extremities (69.2%), face (26.9%), chest (26.9%), and back (26.9%) were common involved locations. Antinuclear antibodies, anti-Ro/SSA antibodies, and anti-La/SSB antibodies were positive in 24 patients (82.8%), 24 patients (82.8%), and 6 patients (20.7%), respectively. Direct immunofluorescence was positive in 50% of cases. Complete clinical remission (92.6%) was observed (median time: 4 weeks) with discontinuation of PPIs and treatment of oral corticosteroids (61.1%), hydroxychloroquine (44.4%), or topical steroids (16.7%). CONCLUSION PPIs-related SCLE is a rare adverse reaction based on clinical manifestations associated with immunological abnormalities and suggestive histological findings. PPIs should be suspected when considering possible culprits for drug-related SCLE.

Abstract
The cutaneous features of autoimmune connective tissue disease pose a unique challenge to patients and clinicians managing these conditions. In this review, we outline the key elements of diagnosis and treatment of cutaneous lupus erythematosus, dermatomyositis, systemic sclerosis, and morphea. This article also aims to present an update on gold standard as well as new and emerging therapies for these conditions. Overall, dermatologists can play a key role in diagnosing and treating autoimmune connective tissue diseases and this review intends to provide an up-to-date toolkit to guide clinical dermatologists in this endeavor.

Abstract
Cutaneous adverse drug reactions are undesirable cutaneous changes caused by medications. Drug eruptions can mimic a wide range of dermatoses that include exanthematous (morbilliform), urticarial, pustular, bullous, papulosquamous, or granulomatous lesions, and sometimes these eruptions may present with annular, polycyclic, or polymorphous configurations. The correct identification of a cutaneous drug eruption depends on a high index of suspicion, detailed medication exposure history, chronologic evaluation of the causal relationships between drug exposures and eruptions, and the exclusion of other infectious or idiopathic diseases. Most drug eruptions are annoying but self-limited, usually resolving after the withdrawal of the causative agents. Rarely, patients have severe cutaneous adverse reactions, such as Stevens-Johnson syndrome, toxic epidermal necrolysis, and drug reaction with eosinophilia and systemic symptoms (DRESS), which are potentially lethal adverse drug reactions that involve the skin and mucous membranes and may also damage internal organs. Prompt recognition of the alarming signs of severe cutaneous adverse reactions and providing adequate treatment may thus be life-saving. We present the main clinical presentations, histopathology, possible implicated medications, and treatment of cutaneous adverse drug reactions that can present in annular configurations.

Abstract
Drug‐induced photosensitivity is associated with a wide range of anticancer treatments, including conventional chemotherapeutic agents, targeted anticancer therapies, and immune checkpoint inhibitors. These dermatologic adverse events can have a major impact on the well‐being and quality of life of cancer patients, leading to dose modifications and interruption or discontinuation of anticancer treatments in severe cases. However, the heterogeneous nature of the photosensitive reactions induced by these agents, as well as the common concomitant use of other potentially photosensitizing drugs (antibiotics, voriconazole, nonsteroidal anti‐inflammatory drugs, etc.), can make the diagnosis and, therefore the prevention, of these adverse events particularly challenging. The aim of this review is to describe the most characteristic forms of photosensitivity observed in patients being treated with anticancer treatments, including phototoxicity and photoallergy, and other potentially photo‐induced manifestations such as UV recall, exaggerated sunburn reactions associated with treatment‐related vitiligo, drug‐induced cutaneous lupus erythematosus, and UV‐induced hyperpigmentation. We also discuss the photosensitive reactions recently reported with new‐generation targeted anticancer therapies and immune checkpoint inhibitors and highlight the importance of continued surveillance to identify photosensitizing agents, and of educating patients on the need for preventive UVA/UVB photoprotective measures.

Abstract
Cutaneous drug-induced lupus erythematosus (CDILE) is a lupus-like syndrome related to drug exposure which typically resolves after drug discontinuation. It can present as a systemic or a sole cutaneous form and different drugs may be associated with each form. CDILE pharmacoepidemiology is constantly changing. Indeed, older drugs primarily associated with systemic CDILE are no longer prescribed and new drugs associated with either cutaneous or systemic CDILE have emerged. The present study discusses the clinical and laboratory aspects of CDILE and the postulated pathogenesis, and it provides an update on implicated drugs. We performed a literature review to single out the new drugs associated with CDILE in the past decade (January 2010-June 2020). Among 109 drugs reported to induce CDILE in 472 patients, we identified anti-TNFα, proton-pump inhibitors, antineoplastic drugs, and, in particular, checkpoint inhibitors, as emerging drugs in CDILE. Most of the published studies are cases reports or small case series, and further larger studies as well as the development of validated classification criteria are needed to better understand and characterize their implication in CDILE.

Abstract
Cutaneous lupus erythematosus (CLE) is an inflammatory, autoimmune disease encompassing a broad spectrum of subtypes including acute, subacute, chronic and intermittent CLE. Among these, chronic CLE can be further classified into several subclasses of lupus erythematosus (LE) such as discoid LE, verrucous LE, LE profundus, chilblain LE and Blaschko linear LE. To provide all dermatologists and rheumatologists with a practical guideline for the diagnosis, treatment and long-term management of CLE, this evidence- and consensus-based guideline was developed following the checklist established by the international Reporting Items for Practice Guidelines in Healthcare (RIGHT) Working Group and was registered at the International Practice Guideline Registry Platform. With the joint efforts of the Asian Dermatological Association (ADA), the Asian Academy of Dermatology and Venereology (AADV) and the Lupus Erythematosus Research Center of Chinese Society of Dermatology (CSD), a total of 25 dermatologists, 7 rheumatologists, one research scientist on lupus and 2 methodologists, from 16 countries/regions in Asia, America and Europe, participated in the development of this guideline. All recommendations were agreed on by at least 80% of the 32 voting physicians. As a consensus, diagnosis of CLE is mainly based on the evaluation of clinical and histopathological manifestations, with an exclusion of SLE by assessment of systemic involvement. For localized CLE lesions, topical corticosteroids and topical calcineurin inhibitors are first-line treatment. For widespread or severe CLE lesions and (or) cases resistant to topical treatment, systemic treatment including antimalarials and (or) short-term corticosteroids can be added. Notably, antimalarials are the first-line systemic treatment for all types of CLE, and can also be used in pregnant patients and pediatric patients. Second-line choices include thalidomide, retinoids, dapsone and MTX, whereas MMF is third-line treatment. Finally, pulsed-dye laser or surgery can be added as fourth-line treatment for localized, refractory lesions of CCLE in cosmetically unacceptable areas, whereas belimumab may be used as fourth-line treatment for widespread CLE lesions in patients with active SLE, or recurrence of ACLE during tapering of corticosteroids. As for management of the disease, patient education and a long-term follow-up are necessary. Disease activity, damage of skin and other organs, quality of life, comorbidities and possible adverse events are suggested to be assessed in every follow-up visit, when appropriate.

Abstract
EGFR tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs) are the front-line treatment in EGFR mutation positive advanced non-small cell lung cancer (aNSCLC) patients. Generally, they are well-tolerated but skin toxicity is common (45–100% of patients) and may adversely affect quality of life. Pathogenesis of cutaneous side effects is usually linked to EGFR expression in normal cells of the epidermis and not immune-related. Subacute cutaneous lupus erythematosus (SCLE) is an autoimmune disease and about 40% of SCLE cases are drug related, but no reports are available involving osimertinib. Our report depicts a drug induced-SCLE (DI-SCLE) caused by erlotinib and worsened by osimertinib. The adverse event is characterized by the absence of systemic symptoms. Diagnosis has been performed by skin biopsy and the conditions improved with systemic steroids administration and EGFR-TKIs discontinuation. The report underlines the importance of a complete dermatologic diagnosis of skin lesions induced by EGFR inhibitors, according to symptom severity and timing of improving with standard clinical management. The diagnosis of immune-related skin toxicity in this context affects the treatment and the outcome of skin toxicity and must be taken into account when planning subsequent treatments, potentially including immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs).

Abstract
Background Subacute cutaneous lupus erythematosus (SCLE) lacks consensus diagnostic criteria and the pathogenesis is poorly understood. There are increasing reports of SCLE induced by monoclonal antibodies (mAbs), but there are limited data on the aetiology, clinical characteristics and natural course of this disease. Methods We devised a set of diagnostic criteria for SCLE in collaboration with a multinational, multispecialty panel. This systematic review employed a two-layered search strategy of five databases for cases of mAb-induced SCLE (PROSPERO registered protocol CRD42019116521). To explore the relationship between relative mAb use and the number of SCLE cases reported, the estimated number of mAb users was modelled from 2013 to 2018 global commercial data and estimated annual therapy costs. Results From 40 papers, we identified 52 cases of mAb-induced SCLE, occurring in a cohort that was 73% female and with a median age of 61 years. Fifty percent of cases were induced by anti-tumour necrosis factor (TNF)-ɑ agents. A median of three drug doses preceded SCLE onset and the lesions lasted a median of 7 weeks after drug cessation. Oral and topical corticosteroids were most frequently used. Of the licensed mAbs, adalimumab, denosumab, rituximab, etanercept and infliximab were calculated to have the highest relative number of yearly users based on global sales data. Comparing the number of mAb-induced SCLE cases with estimated yearly users, the checkpoint inhibitors pembrolizumab and nivolumab showed strikingly high rates of SCLE relative to their global use, but ipilimumab did not. Conclusion We present the first systematic review characterising mAb-induced SCLE with respect to triggers, clinical signs, laboratory findings, prognosis and treatment approaches. We identify elevated rates associated with the use of checkpoint inhibitors and anti-TNFɑ agents. Abstract
Importance It has been estimated that up to 30% of all subacute cutaneous lupus erythematosus (CLE) cases and up to 15% of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) cases are drug induced. Based on numerous case reports and several epidemiologic studies, more than 100 drugs from more than 10 drug classes are suspected to cause drug-induced lupus erythematosus. Objective To examine the association between drug use and a subsequent diagnosis of CLE or SLE based on a systematic screening process of the drugs in the Anatomical Therapeutic Chemical classification system in a nationwide setting. Design, Setting, and Participants A matched case-control study was conducted using all incident cases of CLE and SLE registered in the Danish National Patient Register between January 1, 2000, and December 31, 2017. Patients with CLE and patients with SLE were matched (1:10) on age and sex, with individuals from the general population serving as controls. Exposures To select which drugs to examine for an association with CLE or SLE, a screening process of all drugs was performed, including drugs filled at pharmacies and drugs administered in hospitals. Main Outcomes and Measures Odds ratios (ORs) were calculated for the association between exposures to certain drugs and the subsequent diagnosis of CLE or SLE. Results In all, 3148 patients with CLE (n = 1298; 1022 women [78.7%]; median age at diagnosis, 50.5 years [interquartile range, 39.4-62.2 years]) or SLE (n = 1850; 1537 women [83.1%]; median age at diagnosis, 45.0 years [interquartile range, 33.6-56.4 years]) and 31 480 controls (25 590 women [81.3%]; median age, 47.5 years [interquartile range, 35.9-59.5 years]) were found. Many significant associations between drug use and a subsequent diagnosis of CLE and SLE were observed. Many associations were likely due to protopathic bias. However, new plausible causal associations were observed between CLE or SLE and some drugs, including fexofenadine hydrochloride (SLE: OR, 2.61 [95% CI, 1.80-3.80]; CLE: OR, 5.05 [95% CI, 3.51-7.26]), levothyroxine sodium (SLE: OR, 2.46 [95% CI, 1.97-3.07]; CLE: OR, 1.30 [95% CI, 0.96-1.75]), metoclopramide hydrochloride (SLE: OR, 3.38 [95% CI, 2.47-4.64]; CLE: OR, 1.47 [95% CI, 0.85-2.54]), and metronidazole hydrochloride (SLE: OR, 1.57 [95% CI, 1.09-2.27]; CLE: OR, 1.93 [95% CI, 1.25-2.97]). Conclusions and Relevance The study's findings suggest that physicians should be cognizant about whether a new case of CLE or SLE could be drug induced. Furthermore, the results highlight that the reported associations in the published literature may be due to publication or protopathic bias.

Abstract
Cutaneous lupus erythematosus (CLE) is an autoimmune disease with a broad range of cutaneous manifestations. In skin lesions of CLE, keratinocytes primarily undergo apoptosis. Interferon-κ(IFN-κ) is belonged to type I interferons (type I IFNs) and is selectively produced by keratinocytes. Recently, keratinocytes selectively produced IFN-κ is identified to be a key to trigger type I interferon responses in CLE. Other immune cells such as plasmacytoid dendritic cells (pDCs) are identified to be relevant origin of type I interferons (type I IFNs) which are central to the development of CLE lesions and responsible for mediating Th1 cell activity. Other types of cells such as neutrophils, B cells and Th17 cells also are involved in the development of this disease. The close interaction of those cells composes a comprehensive and complicated network in CLE. In this review, we discussed the aberrant distribution and function of different cells types involved in this disease and will offer a new direction for research and therapy in the near future.

Abstract
Cutaneous Lupus Erythematosus (CLE) is a clinically diverse group of autoimmune skin diseases with shared histological features of interface dermatitis and autoantibodies deposited at the dermal-epidermal junction. Various genetic and environmental triggers of CLE promote infiltration of T cells, B cells, neutrophils, antigen presenting cells, and NK cells into lesional skin. In this mini-review, we will discuss the clinical features of CLE, insights into CLE immunopathogenesis, and novel treatment approaches.

Abstract
Drug reactions resulting from chemotherapy agents are common and frequently affect the skin. Although often benign, a select few of these cutaneous reactions may necessitate immediate changes to the antineoplastic regimens. Given the diversity of chemotherapeutic skin reactions and their complex implications on patient management, an organized conceptual schema is imperative for proper patient care. We evaluate a number of commonly seen chemotherapy-induced skin toxicities organized by pathogenic mechanism and drug class, providing a framework for the identification and categorization of adverse events to prevent unrecognition. Groupings of these reactions include direct cytotoxicity and/or drug accumulation, immunologic hypersensitivity, and aberrant molecular signaling.

Abstract
Statin medications [3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl coenzyme A (HMG-CoA) reductase inhibitors] are generally used to treat hypercholesterolemia. Lichenoid drug eruptions are a potential cutaneous side effect of medications including antibiotics, antimalarials, and statins. This drug eruption can mimic features of idiopathic lichen planus in clinical presentation and pathology. We describe the case of a 73-year-old man who developed a lichenoid drug eruption secondary to atorvastatin. His clinical features, in addition to histological findings, helped to establish the diagnosis. The cutaneous eruption resolved one month after the cessation of atorvastatin and with corticosteroid therapy. Statins have been associated with adverse events including bullous dermatosis, eosinophilic fasciitis, lichenoid drug eruption, and phototoxicity. Lichenoid drug eruption associated with statin therapy requires discontinuation of the statin medication; an alternative class of medication for the treatment of hypercholesterolemia is usually necessary.

Abstract
Introduction: There is a growing list of drugs implicated in inducing both subacute and chronic forms of cutaneous lupus erythematosus. It is important to recognize these drugs in order to quickly treat patients with drug induced disease.Areas covered: This paper reviews the current literature describing drugs implicated in causing cutaneous lupus erythematosus. A Pubmed search was used to compile a list of medications implicated up to August 2019. It reviews new classes of drugs identified as causing cutaneous lupus erythematosus, the pathophysiology of the disease process, and current recommendations for treatment of the disease.Expert opinion: Many drugs have been identified as inducing lupus, and many more continue to be described in new reports. Further research is needed to understand this phenomenon, which will aid in the diagnosis and treatment of affected patients.

Abstract
Dental practitioners and other health professionals commonly encounter and manage adverse medicine effects that manifest in the orofacial region. Numerous medicines are associated with a variety of oral adverse effects. However, due to lack of awareness and training, these side effects are not always associated with medicine use and are underreported to pharmacovigilance agencies by dentists and other health professionals. This article aims to inform health professionals about the various oral adverse effects that can occur and the most commonly implicated drugs to improve the management, recognition and reporting of adverse drug effects. This article follows on from Part 1; however, the focus here is on lichenoid reactions and oral mucosal disorders including oral aphthous-like ulceration, mucositis and bullous disorders such as drug-induced pemphigus, pemphigoid, Stevens-Johnson syndrome and toxic epidermal necrolysis.

Abstract
Nivolumab is widely used to treat several late-stage malignancies such as melanoma and non-small-cell lung cancer by inhibiting the interaction between the programmed cell death protein-1 and its ligand. By stimulating an antitumor immune response, it also leads to immune adverse events. Here. we report two cases of subacute cutaneous lupus erythematosus (SCLE) induced by nivolumab. Case 1: a 72-year-old woman with a stage IV melanoma. Two months after nivolumab discontinuation because of autoimmune hepatitis, the patient was in complete remission and pruritic nummular erythematous plaques appeared on the back and arms. Case 2: a 43-year-old man put under nivolumab for a metastatic non-small-cell lung cancer. After two cycles, an annular erythematous eruption appeared on the hands, arms, and chest. The hypothesis of SCLE was confirmed by biopsies showing lymphoid perivascular inflammatory infiltrates, with scarce C3 deposits along the basal layer of the epidermis in patient 2. Both patients tested positive for antinuclear antibodies and anti-SSA antibodies. Lesions were regressive under topical corticosteroids and hydroxychloroquine for the first patient and oral prednisone for the second patient. No systemic involvement was observed. The occurrence of SCLE 2 months after nivolumab discontinuation is evidence that the drug effect is prolonged because of the maintenance of programmed cell death protein-1 reception saturation for months. A causal relationship between SCLE and nivolumab is suggested by (i) the occurrence of SCLE after at least two cycles, (ii) the regression of lesions following treatment with corticosteroids and hydroxychloroquine, and (iii) the fact that it appeared after remission in our first patient.

Abstract
Cutaneous lupus erythematosus encompasses a spectrum of cutaneous disease with different phenotypes, and it potentially intersects with many disciplines in medicine. This review examines the epidemiology, clinical subtypes, pathology, psychology and intervention options for this disorder. It is important to understand the psychological distress that cutaneous lupus can cause and if needed actively investigate this possibility with the patient. Careful liaison between disciplines will achieve the optimum outcome.

Abstract
Autoimmune skin diseases are complex processes in which autoreactive cells must navigate through the skin tissue to find their targets. Regulatory T cells in the skin help to mitigate autoimmune inflammation and may in fact be responsible for the patchy nature of these conditions. In this review, we will discuss chemokines that are important for global recruitment of T cell populations to the skin during disease, as well as signals that fine-tune their localization and function. We will describe prototypical disease responses and chemokine families that mediate these responses. Lastly, we will include an overview of chemokine-targeting drugs that have been tested as new treatment strategies for autoimmune skin diseases.

Abstract
PURPOSE OF REVIEW Rapid introduction of newly developed drugs in the absence of clear understanding of the pathophysiologic mechanisms behind drug-induced lupus erythematosus (DILE) can sometimes make DILE difficult to recognize in clinical practice. The purpose of this review is to summarize drugs most recently reported to be involved in DILE and discuss the current landscape of diverse mechanisms involved. RECENT FINDINGS A large number of proton pump inhibitor (PPI)-induced subacute cutaneous lupus erythematosus cases have been reported, suggesting a shift over time in the spectrum of drugs implicated in DILE. Twenty-two articles comprising 29 DILE case reports published within the last 2 years are summarized in this review, including 12 (41.4%) systemic DILE. Antitumor necrosis factor (anti-TNF) drugs were the most frequently (41.7%) reported to introduce systemic DILE in these cases. Chemotherapeutic drugs were the most common drug class (54.5%) involved in subacute cutaneous lupus erythematosus, with an observed higher incidence in female patients. Enhanced neutrophil extracellular trap (NET) formation induced by procainamide and hydralazine could be a new mechanism contributing to the pathogenesis of DILE. SUMMARY The list of drugs implicated in triggering DILE is expanding as new drugs with novel mechanisms of action are being developed. It is important to recognize culprit drugs that may induce lupus erythematosus, as discontinuation usually results in improvement of drug-induced manifestations. Characterizing the mechanisms involved might help better understand the cause of idiopathic autoimmunity.

Abstract
Objectives The objectives of this paper are to describe the epidemiology of cutaneous lupus erythematosus (CLE) and its subtypes in Denmark, and to investigate the probability of receiving a subsequent diagnosis of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and the related time course. Methods A nationwide registry-based cohort study was conducted in Denmark based on data from the Danish National Patient Registry from 1998 to 2013 using International Classification of Diseases, Revision 10. Results We identified 2380 patients with CLE. The annual incidence rate (IR) of CLE was 2.74/100,000 with a female:male ratio of 4:1. During 12,047 person-years of follow-up, 8% were diagnosed with SLE. The probability of receiving a subsequent diagnosis of SLE was 12.9% after 10 years taking death as a competing risk into consideration, and the probability was highest among women and patients diagnosed with subacute CLE. The median time until a diagnosis of SLE was 2.05 years. Conclusions This is the first nationwide study on CLE in Denmark. Although we found the annual IR of CLE and the risk of receiving an additional diagnosis of SLE to be lower than previously described, continued monitoring and thorough information for patients with CLE is important due to the inherent risk of SLE.

Abstract
Several historical observations have led to the current understanding of the diagnosis, evaluation, and management of patients with cutaneous lupus erythematosus. Seminal advances in the management of this disease include the development of a classification system for cutaneous lupus, the use of a validated scoring system to assess patient disease activity, and expansion of knowledge of the action spectrum of this disease; further, observations regarding certain medications as potential causes of subacute cutaneous lupus erythematosus, the risk of progression from "pure" cutaneous disease to systemic disease, and traditional versus newer therapies are reviewed with closer inspection.

Abstract
Background Stevens–Johnson syndrome/toxic epidermal necrolysis (SJS/TEN) and erythema multiforme (EM) are immunologically-mediated dermatological disorders commonly triggered by drug exposure and/or other external agents. We aimed to characterise SJS/TEN- and EM-drug-related hospitalisations in a nationwide administrative database, focusing on demographic and clinical characteristics, and in the most frequently implicated drug classes. Methods We analysed all drug-related hospitalisations with associated diagnosis of SJS/TEN or EM in Portuguese hospitals between 2009 and 2014. We compared gender, age, comorbidities, length of stay, and in-hospital mortality and estimated the number of episodes per million packages sold of drug classes. Predictors of in-hospital mortality were investigated in both conditions by logistic regression. Results There were 132 SJS/TEN-related and 122 EM-related hospitalisations. Incidence and in-hospital mortality of SJS/TEN episodes (24.2%) were consistent with previous studies. HIV co-infection was more common among SJS/TEN hospitalisations (9 vs. 2% with EM; P = 0.009). Liver disease, advanced age, and a TEN diagnosis, were significantly associated with higher risk of mortality in patients with SJS/TEN. The highest numbers of SJS/TEN and EM episodes per million drug packages sold were observed for antivirals (8.7 and 1.5, respectively), antineoplastic/immunosuppressive drugs (5.6 and 3.9, respectively) and hypouricaemic drugs (5.0 and 2.4, respectively). Conclusions SJS/TEN in-hospital mortality is high, and its risk factors include advanced age, liver disease, and TEN diagnosis. The drug classes most frequently associated with these conditions include antivirals, hypouricaemic drugs and antineoplastic/immunosuppressive drugs. Administrative databases seem useful in the study of SJS/TEN drug-related hospitalisations, yielding results consistent with previous studies and on a nationwide basis. Abstract
The terms 'lichenoid' and 'interface' dermatitis are often used interchangeably to describe an inflammatory pattern characterized histologically by damage to the basal keratinocytes in the epidermis. The mechanism of cell damage of such cells is now best understood as apoptosis, or programmed cell death. This inflammatory pattern of dermatoses, is also accompanied frequently by a band of lymphocytes and histiocytes in the superficial dermis, that often obscures the dermal-epidermal junction, hence the term 'lichenoid'. A discussion of the more common lichenoid/interface dermatitides encountered in the routine clinical practice encompasses the following entities: lichen planus, lupus erythematosus, dermatomyositis, erythema multiforme, graft versus host disease, fixed drug reactions, and multiple others.
