Abstract
INTRODUCTION The Royal College of Physicians (RCP) and the Royal College of Nursing (RCN) in the United Kingdom advocate the use of structured multidisciplinary team (MDT) ward rounds since they can enable safe, effective, improved care and enhanced staff satisfaction. OBJECTIVES This project sought to implement best practices for MDT ward rounds in a male medical ward in a hospital in Malawi. METHODS The project was conducted in line with the JBI Evidence Implementation Framework. A baseline audit of MDT ward rounds was conducted with six staff members. Audit criteria consisted of ten best practices, as recommended by JBI, the RCP, and the RCN. Stakeholder meetings were held to review the baseline audit results and highlight areas of non-compliance. JBI's Getting Research into Practice (GRiP) tool was used to identify barriers to compliance with best practices, and a follow-up audit was conducted to determine changes in practice. RESULTS The results only showed improvement for one criterion, which rose from 33% to 100% (n=6) where nurses attended the ward round. CONCLUSIONS This study demonstrated some challenges in evidence implementation projects and how these can, in part, be overcome. While the results only demonstrated improvement for one criterion, this paper shows how audits can be used to promote best practice, which in this case resulted in nurses being more involved in ward rounds, improvements in MDT communication, enhanced nurse inclusion in decision-making and, consequently, patient care. Abstract
Team climate and attributes of primary healthcare (PHC) are key elements for collaborative practice. Few researchers have explored the relationship between team climate and patients' perceptions of PHC. This study aimed to assess the association between team climate and patients' perceptions of primary healthcare attributes. A quantitative approach was adopted. In Stage 1, Team climate was assessed using Team Climate Inventory in 118 Family Health Strategy (FHS) teams at a PHC setting. In Stage 2, Patients' perceptions of PHC attributes were assessed using the Primary Care Assessment Tool (PCATool) in a sample of 844 patients enrolled in teams studied in Stage 1. Cluster analysis was used to identify team climate groups. The analysis used multilevel linear regression models. Patients assigned to teams with the highest team climate scores had the highest PHC attributes scores. Patients who reported affiliation at the team level had the highest PCATool scores overall. They also scored higher on the attributes of comprehensiveness and coordinated care compared to patients with affiliation to the health unit. In conclusion, patients under the care of FHS teams exhibiting a more favorable team climate had more positive patient perceptions of PHC attributes.

Abstract
The growing aging population presents unique challenges in maintaining their quality of life (QoL), which encompasses physical, psychological, and social wellbeing. This study aimed to assess the impact of multidisciplinary collaboration on QoL among older patients receiving primary care. A cross-sectional study was conducted involving a purposive sampling of 200 participants aged 60 years and above from Primary Healthcare Centers in Al-Ahsa, Saudi Arabia, between March and May 2024. Data were collected using standardized tools: SF-36 for health-related QoL, Multidisciplinary Collaboration Evaluation Tool (MCET), and Lubben Social Network Scale (LSNS). Multivariate regression analyses were performed to examine the associations between multidisciplinary collaboration, social support, and QoL outcomes. Multidisciplinary collaboration exhibited a significant positive association with improvements in physical functioning (β = 2.35, p < 0.001), mental health (β = 3.01, p < 0.001), and general health perceptions (β = 2.12, p < 0.001). Key drivers of effective collaboration included effective communication (β = 0.48, p < 0.001), coordination (β = 0.42, p < 0.001), and patient involvement (β = 0.40, p < 0.001). Social support, particularly from friends (β = 0.33, p < 0.001) and family (β = 0.28, p < 0.001), was also a robust predictor of better QoL. Younger age, female gender, married status, and absence of chronic conditions were associated with greater QoL improvements from multidisciplinary care. Multidisciplinary collaboration and social support networks significantly enhance QoL among older primary care patients. Healthcare systems should prioritize developing collaborative care models, fostering interdisciplinary teamwork, and integrating strategies to promote social connectedness for the aging population.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Simulation based learning provides an opportunity to increase student readiness prior to clinical placement. Cross disciplinary learning facilitates interprofessional competency building and improved student appreciation of other health professions, which adds another learning dimension to simulated scenarios. This paper outlines the approach to facilitating an interdisciplinary simulated clinic, where experiences were mapped to common professional capabilities. METHODS After mapping skill sets and professional capabilities common to both Nuclear Medicine and Radiation Therapy, a mock clinic was planned to address common objectives. The aims of the activity were to prepare students for upcoming clinical placement and to build knowledge and skills in the interprofessional environment. All students were allocated roles of both the health care professional and the patient and introduced to the concept of interprofessional learning in a pre-brief session. During the simulated clinic phase students experienced the other modality through the patient perspective as well as practicing the clinician role within their own modality. Following the simulation students came together for a de-brief session. The activity was evaluated using both online polling and pre and post paper-based surveys. RESULTS A total of 28 students participated in the simulation: 17 in radiation therapy and 11 in nuclear medicine. All participants agreed that the mock clinic was valuable preparation for clinical placement. Twenty-four completed pre and post surveys, revealed a collective improvement in several measures of interprofessional understanding and application. Free text polled responses in the de-brief session highlighted value for practicing communication, realistic physical resemblance to the real-life scenarios and time pressures. CONCLUSION When two disciplines were combined in the simulated clinic, students learnt about each other's profession together. Evaluation showed positive improvements in both clinical readiness and interprofessional learning. Simulated tasks in healthcare education bought many benefits in preparing students for the workplace and in this example, enabled common objectives of interprofessional practice to be met.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Chronic pelvic pain syndrome is a complex multifactorial condition with an increasing prevalence probably due to a rising awareness. Chronic pelvic pain syndrome is pain in the pelvic area and often accompanied with complaints in other organ systems of the lesser pelvis. Patients with chronic pelvic pain syndrome who present at our center are evaluated in a standardized care pathway with an integrated multidisciplinary consultation. The team works in a single center and consists of gynecologists, pain specialists, urologists, a pelvic floor physiotherapist and a psychologist. The aim of this interview study is to evaluate the value of the multidisciplinary consultation from the patient's perspectives. METHODS In a qualitative study, we evaluated the experiences and perspectives of patients with chronic pelvic pain syndrome concerning the multidisciplinary consultation at the Radboud University Medical Center. Semistructured interviews were conducted with patients with chronic pelvic pain syndrome who attended a multidisciplinary consultation between 2019 and 2022. All interviews were transcribed verbatim, coded and analyzed via ATLAS.ti with the conventional content analysis. RESULTS Data saturation was reached after seven interviews, followed by three confirmative interviews. In total, 10 patients (22-76 years) participated in the study. Three relevant themes were identified in the interviews: the deleterious effects of pain on overall health, the importance of the design of the multidisciplinary consultation, and the performance of healthcare professionals (knowledge, skills and interaction with patients and colleagues). Participants suggested that although the consultation did not improve their pain experience, there was value in having a comprehensive assessment of their disease. Patients preferred the consultation to occur at the beginning of the care. Additionally, they acknowledged the performance of healthcare providers and having their complaints recognized. However, some participants suggested the need for additional attention to mental health issues during the multidisciplinary consultation. DISCUSSION Even though patients did not perceive the multidisciplinary consultation to improve their pain experience, they appreciated the sense of recognition by this team. CONCLUSION A multidisciplinary consultation is of value from the patients' perspective. A suggestion for improvement emerged where the multidisciplinary consultation should occur at the beginning of the patient journey.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Medicaid payment reforms and delivery model innovations are needed to fully transform U.S. healthcare structuring and provision. PURPOSE To synthesize nurse-led models of care and their implications for improving health care access, quality, and reducing costs for Medicaid recipients. METHODS A critical review of the literature regarding nurse-led models and implications for addressing social determinants of health (SDOH), adopting population health approaches, managing complex care, and integrating behavioral and physical health care within Medicaid. DISCUSSION Three interrelated findings emerged (a) investing in dynamic nurse-led models is important for mitigating SDOH and adopting value-based care, (b) regulations preventing nurses from practicing at the fullest extent of their training and licensure limit clinical impact and value, and (c) directed payments can establish value-based expectations for Medicaid managed care. CONCLUSION Adoption of a nurse-led model of care has the potential to advance the goals of reducing inequity and promoting whole-person health within Medicaid and nationally.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES This study aimed to validate the Collaborative Practice Assessment Tool (CPAT) in the Australian setting and provide a quality instrument in terms of psychometric properties that can be used to measure interprofessional outcomes for both healthcare practitioners and students. The outcomes evaluated include the capacity to work in an interprofessional team, good interprofessional communication skills, leadership skills, ensuring clear division of tasks and roles in a team, effective conflict management, and being actively involved with patients and their families/communities in care. METHODS The COSMIN (COnsensus-based Standards for the selection of health Measurement INstruments) taxonomy and standards were used as guides for evaluating the psychometric properties of the Australian CPAT, which include evaluations regarding instrument development requirements of sample target and size, content validity, internal structure (structural validity, internal consistency reliability and measurement invariance), and hypotheses testing. CPAT Australia was developed through two stages involving pilot studies and a validation study, both of which included healthcare practitioners and students as participants. A pilot study examined content validity regarding item relevance, item comprehensibility, and instrument comprehensiveness. The validation study was carried out to assess the internal structure of CPAT Australia for aspects of structural validity, internal consistency reliabilities, and configural, metric and scalar measurement invariance. The structural validity was explored using the following three steps: exploratory, confirmatory, and multi-group factor analysis. Construct validity was evaluated to confirm direct and indirect paths of assumptions based on a previously validated model. Data collected between August 2021 and May 2022. RESULTS The content validity evaluation confirmed that all items were relevant, understandable and comprehensive for measuring interprofessional collaborative care in Australia. Three hundred ninety-nine participants contributed to the validation study (n=152 practitioners; n=247 students). The original instrument model of 8-Factor 56-Item was improved in the Australian CPAT. Two items, Item 27 (Physicians assume the ultimate responsibility) and Item 49 (Final decision rest with the physician), were consistently rejected and therefore discarded. The internal structure of the 7-Factor 54-Item solution was confirmed as a suitable model with fit indices meeting COSMIN standards for a good model in practitioner and student cohorts. Configural, metric and scalar invariances were confirmed, indicating the invariance of the instruments when used for the practitioner and student cohorts. The construct validity evaluation indicated that 81.3% of direct and indirect assumptions were accepted, fulfilling the COSMIN requirement of >75% of proposed assumptions being accepted. CONCLUSION The Australian CPAT with a 7-factor 54-item solution was confirmed as a quality measure for assessing interprofessional education and collaborative practice for both healthcare practitioners and students in Australia with robust psychometric properties.

Abstract
Poor communication within healthcare teams occurs commonly, contributing to inefficiency, medical errors, conflict, and other adverse outcomes. Interprofessional bedside rounds (IBR) are a promising model that brings two or more health professions together with patients and families as part of a consistent, team-based routine to share information and collaboratively arrive at a daily plan of care. The purpose of this systematic scoping review was to investigate the breadth and quality of IBR literature to identify and describe gaps and opportunities for future research. We followed an adapted Arksey and O'Malley Framework and PRISMA scoping review guidelines. PubMed, CINAHL, PsycINFO, and Embase were systematically searched for key IBR words and concepts through June 2020. Seventy-nine articles met inclusion criteria and underwent data abstraction. Study quality was assessed using the Mixed Methods Assessment Tool. Publications in this field have increased since 2014, and the majority of studies reported positive impacts of IBR implementation across an array of team, patient, and care quality/delivery outcomes. Despite the preponderance of positive findings, great heterogeneity, and a reliance on quantitative non-randomized study designs remain in the extant research. A growing number of interventions to improve safety, quality, and care experiences in hospital settings focus on redesigning daily inpatient rounds. Limited information on IBR characteristics and implementation strategies coupled with widespread variation in terminology, study quality, and design create challenges in assessing the effectiveness of models of rounds and optimal implementation strategies. This scoping review highlights the need for additional studies of rounding models, implementation strategies, and outcomes that facilitate comparative research.

Abstract
Empirical evidence indicates that collaborative interprofessional practice leads to positive health outcomes. Further, there is an abundance of evidence examining student and/or faculty perceptions of learning or satisfaction about the interprofessional education (IPE) learning experience. However, there is a dearth of research linking IPE interventions to patient outcomes. The objective of this scoping review was to describe and summarize the evidence linking IPE interventions to the delivery of effective patient care. A three-step search strategy was utilized for this review with articles that met the following criteria: publications dated 2015-2020 using qualitative, quantitative or mixed methods; the inclusion of healthcare professionals, students, or practitioners who had experienced IPE or training that included at least two collaborators within coursework or other professional education; and at least one of ten Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services quality measures (length of stay, medication errors, medical errors, patient satisfaction scores, medication adherence, patient and caregiver education, hospice usage, mortality, infection rates, and readmission rates). Overall, n=94 articles were identified, providing overwhelming evidence supporting a positive relationship between IPE interventions and several key quality health measures including length of stay, medical errors, patient satisfaction, patient or caregiver education, and mortality. Findings from this scoping review suggest a critical need for the development, implementation, and evaluation of IPE interventions to improve patient outcomes.

Abstract
Background and Aim It is essential that healthcare providers display ethical behavior toward their patients. Despite development of codes of ethics for clinical practice, the occurrence of unethical behaviors toward patients is alarmingly high. The present study was conducted to identify the barriers to ethical treatment of patients in clinical environments. Methods Through systematic narrative review, the present study investigated the barriers to ethical treatment of patients. This study was carried out in line with Assessment of Multiple Systematic Reviews 2 and Preferred Reporting Items of Systematic reviews and Meta-Analyses guidelines. Results Ethical challenges in clinical environments can be classified into two categories: "organizational factors" and "personal factors." Organizational factors consist of three domains: managers and regulations, organizational environment, and human resources. Personal factors consist of two domains: factors related to patients and their families and factors related to care providers. Conclusion Research shows that encouraging healthcare teams to adopt ethical behaviors through education and having them persistently observe ethics in their clinical practice will not completely bridge the gap between theory and practice: it seems that the clinical environment, the personal characteristics of healthcare team members and patients, and the organizational values of the healthcare system pose the greatest barrier to bridging this gap. Accordingly, in addition to raising healthcare providers' awareness of the existing issues in clinical ethics, measures should be taken to improve organizational culture and atmosphere.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Rural populations consistently experience a disproportionate burden of cancer, including higher incidence and mortality rates, compared to the urban populations. Factors that are thought to contribute to these disparities include limited or lack of access to care and challenges with care coordination (CC). In Hawaii, many patients residing in rural areas experience unique challenges with CC as they require inter-island travel for their cancer treatment. In this focus group study, we explored the specific challenges and positive experiences that impact the CC in rural Hawaii cancer patients. METHODS We conducted two semi-structured focus group interviews with cancer patients receiving active treatment for any type of cancer (n = 8). The participants were recruited from the rural areas of Hawaii, specifically the Hawaii county and Kauai. Rural was defined using the Rural-Urban Commuting Area Codes (RUCA; rural ≥ 4). The focus group discussions were facilitated using open-ended questions to explore patients' experiences with CC. RESULTS Content analysis revealed that 47% of the discussions were related to CC-related challenges, including access to care (27.3%), insurance (9.1%), inter-island travel (6.1%), and medical literacy (4.5%). Other major themes from the discussions focused on facilitators of CC (30.3%), including the use of electronic patient portal (12.1%), team-based approach (9.1%), family caregiver support (4.5%), and local clinic staff (4.5%). CONCLUSION Our findings indicate that there are notable challenges in rural patients' experiences regarding their cancer care coordination. Specific factors such as the lack of oncologist and oncology services, fragmented system, and the lack of local general medical providers contribute to problems with access to care. However, there are also positive factors found through the help of facilitators of CC, notability the use of electronic patient portal, team-based approach, family caregiver support, and local clinic staff. These findings highlight potential targets of interventions to improve cancer care delivery for rural patients. TRIAL REGISTRATION Not required.

Abstract
BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES Defined by chronic pain, rheumatic diseases are often co-occurring with anxiety and depression. Among the available psychological interventions, cognitive-behavioral therapies have an already-proven efficiency in these cases. However, the need to adjust their structure became ubiquitous during the post-pandemic period. Hence, the objective of this study was to investigate the impact of a single-session, process-based cognitive-behavioral intervention for patients with rheumatic conditions within an in-patient setting. MATERIALS AND METHODS A total of 31 participants (mean age 58.9 years) completed the single-session intervention. Assessments were conducted prior to the intervention, post-intervention and after one month. RESULTS Pearson's correlations, paired samples T tests and a covariance analysis based on the Linear Mixed Model were performed for exploring the relations between baseline variables and evaluating the impact of the SSI intervention. Immediately after the intervention, a significant reduction in cognitive fusion (p = 0.001, d = 1.78), experiential avoidance (p = 0.001, d = 1.4) and dysfunctional behavioral processes was observed. At the one-month evaluation, participants reported decreased pain (p = 0.001, d = 1.11), anxiety (p = 0.004, d = 0.55) and depression (p = 0.001, d = 0.72). CONCLUSIONS The single-session, process-based approach represents a promising intervention in healthcare contexts, as an integrative part of a multimodal rehabilitation treatment in patients with rheumatic conditions.

Abstract
Purpose Team-based care has been linked to key outcomes associated with the Quadruple Aim and a key driver of high-value patient-centered care. Use of the electronic health record (EHR) and machine learning have significant potential to overcome previous barriers to studying the impact of teams, including delays in accessing data to improve teamwork and optimize patient outcomes. Methods This study utilized a large EHR dataset (n=316,542) from an urban health system to explore the relationship between team composition and patient activation, a key driver of patient engagement. Teams were operationalized using consensus definitions of teamwork from the literature. Patient activation was measured using the Patient Activation Measure (PAM). Results from multilevel regression analyses were compared to machine learning analyses using multinomial logistic regression to calculate propensity scores for the effect of team composition on PAM scores. Under the machine learning approach, a causal inference model with generalized overlap weighting was used to calculate the average treatment effect of teamwork. Results Seventeen different team types were observed in the data from the analyzed sample (n=12,448). Team sizes ranged from 2 to 5 members. After controlling for confounding variables in both analyses, more diverse, multidisciplinary teams (team size of 4 or more) were observed to have improved patient activation scores. Conclusions This is the first study to explore the relationship between team composition and patient activation using the EHR and big data analytics. Implications for further research using EHR data and machine learning to study teams and other patient-centered care are promising and could be used to advance team science.

Abstract
Prostate cancer is the second most common cause of cancer-related mortality among men in the United States, with an estimated 34,700 deaths annually. Androgen deprivation therapy (ADT) is the cornerstone of advanced prostate cancer therapy, and injectable luteinizing hormone-releasing hormone (LHRH) agonists have served as the most commonly used ADT for over 30 years. Relugolix, a first-in-class, once-daily, oral gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) antagonist, was developed to address some of the limitations of available ADT therapies. Herein, we present two hypothetical case reports via an advanced practice provider (APP) perspective that reflect prototypical examples of patients with advanced localized disease not suitable for surgery or newly diagnosed hormone-sensitive metastatic disease treated with relugolix. The cases presented are meant to be instructional and within the scope of the current approved prescribing information for all medications mentioned. Best practices from an APP perspective are shared.

Abstract
PURPOSE The primary purpose of this study was to determine which scope of practice roles and responsibilities are attributed to the profession of audiology (AUD) relative to other health care disciplines by a group of health and human services faculty and students. METHOD An online survey inquiring about participant knowledge of different health professions' scopes of practice, and experience with and attitude toward the profession of AUD, was sent to faculty and students in the Western Michigan University College of Health and Human Services. Students also completed two subscales of the Interprofessional Attitudes Scale. Descriptive statistics and chi-square and Kruskal-Wallis analyses evaluating response differences between groups are presented. RESULTS Thirty-six faculty and 118 students (48 graduate and 70 undergraduate) completed the survey. AUD was the profession most often associated with all hearing-related scope of practice activities. Speech-language pathology was often associated with hearing-related scope of practice activities. Audiologists were less commonly associated with vestibular, balance, and mobility scope of practice activities. Group was significant for four scope of practice activities. About half of respondents indicated they knew nothing or a little about AUD, and a majority had no or rare interactions with audiologists in class or clinic. Only about half of participants responded they were likely or very likely to refer patients to an audiologist. CONCLUSION Increased knowledge of the scope of practice and exposure to the profession of AUD may benefit other health care professionals and patients, possibly leading to increased interprofessional practice and an increased number of appropriate referrals.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Ward rounds are crucial inpatient activities during which patients' conditions are discussed. Team-based models such as nurse-led ward rounds (NLWRs) have been conceptualized and trialled, with positive results. METHODS An evidence-based quality improvement pilot project to introduce NLWRs was implemented at a cardiovascular medical-surgical unit in a Singapore tertiary hospital. The JBI Evidence Implementation Framework was used to guide the project. The evidence-based NLWR format incorporated stakeholder feedback on NLWR frequency, preparation, coordination, and content. Baseline and 6-month post-implementation audits were carried out. RESULTS The 4 audit criteria improved from baseline, reaching 100% compliance for criteria 1, 2, and 3 associated with interprofessional communication and collaboration. An improvement from baseline (30% to 46.7%) was also observed for criterion 4 on patient involvement during medical ward rounds. Moreover, there were improvements in clinical outcome data such as patient hospitalization length, "best medical therapy" rates, and inpatient complications. A statistically significant improvement in nurses' confidence to lead discussions during medical rounds was also observed ( p = 0.026). CONCLUSIONS This project promoted greater compliance with NLWR criteria through audit and feedback cycles and the contextualization of implementation strategies. A well-supported program that prepares nurses for interprofessional communication also improves nurses' confidence in team communication, bolstering their ability to provide high-quality patient care.

Abstract
Introduction Multidisciplinary setting in healthcare provide positive patient outcomes. Objective To evaluate the impact of specialized rheumatology clinics (multidisciplinary settings) on the activation and engagement of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) patients. Material and Methods This cross-sectional survey assessed patient activation using the patient activation measure-13. Participants attending Specialized Rheumatology Clinics (SRC multidisciplinary clinics) were compared with age- and sex-matched patients attending Standard of Care (SOC). The study was observational in nature, assessing several demographic and therapeutic options and their relation to the clinical setting and patient activation. Results This study included 117 SRC matched RA patients with 117 SOC. The majority of the included patients were female (n=211, 90.2%), >40 years of age (n=177, 75.6%), and had intermediate-to-high education (n=147, 62.8%). Patients in the SRC were also more likely to have activation levels 3 and 4 with an odds ratio of 3.194 (95% confidence interval [CI] 1.835-5.562, p<0.001). In addition, SRC participants were more likely to be in levels 3 and 4 activation, even after adjustment for confounding variables, with an adjusted odds ratio of 2.401 (95% CI 1.121-4.758, p=0.012) and 2.175 (95% CI 1.127-4.196, p=0.020), respectively. Conclusion Establishing SRC for RA patients seems to have a positive impact on patient activation and engagement and adds to the previously explored benefits of multidisciplinary care in chronic disease management.

Abstract
Background Rural patients have unique health-care factors influencing outcomes of arthroplasty, hypothetically putting these patients at increased risk for complications following total joint arthroplasty. The aim of this study is to better understand differences in patient outcomes and satisfaction between rural and urban patients receiving care in an urban setting and to provide more equitable care. Methods A retrospective chart review was performed on patients undergoing primary total hip arthroplasty at a single large academic center between January 2013 and August 2020. Demographic, operative, and hospital outcomes were obtained from the institutional electronic medical record. Rurality was determined by rural-urban code (RUC) classifications by zip code with RUC codes 1-3 defined as urban and RUC 4-10 defined as rural. Results Patients from urban areas were more likely to visit the emergency department within 30 days postoperatively (P = .006) and be readmitted within 90 days (P < .001). However, unplanned (P < .001) admissions were higher in the rural group. There was no statistical difference in postoperative complications (P = .4). At 6 months, rural patients had higher patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs) including Hip Disability and Osteoarthritis Outcome Score total (P = .05), Hip Disability and Osteoarthritis Outcome Score interval (P = .05), self-reported functional improvement (P < .05), improvements in pain (P < .05), and that the surgery met expectations (P < .05). However, these values did not reach minimal clinically important difference. Conclusions There may be differences in emergency department visits, readmissions, and PROMs in rural vs urban populations undergoing total hip arthroplasty in an urban setting. Patient access to care and attitudes of rural patients toward health care may underlie these findings. Understanding differences in PROMs, satisfaction, and hospital-based outcomes based on rurality is essential to provide equitable arthroplasty care.

Abstract
Background Interprofessional education (IPE) is acknowledged to enhance understanding between professionals and to facilitate learning. Healthcare professionals may be better equipped to accept and esteem other healthcare professionals, if interprofessional education is incorporated into undergraduate curricula. The management of challenging patient issues may also significantly benefit from this. As a result, the current study examined interprofessional education in their institutions and students' knowledge of and attitudes toward it. Methodology We conducted a cross-sectional questionnaire-based study among students from a university in the southwest of Saudi Arabia, who were enrolled in courses in medical, pharmacy, nursing, dentistry, allied health, and public health. Following validation, the questionnaire included six questions to probe their knowledge, ten questions to gauge their attitude, and eleven questions to inquire about the growth and use of IPE in their institutions. Multiple regression and the Kruskal-Wallis test were used to examine the data. Results The survey involved 600 students, and 66.8% of the respondents were male. Less than one-third of students studying medicine replied to the survey, while students in the public health department had the lowest response rate. Compared to students in other programs, pharmacy students achieved a higher mean attitude score toward IPE (P < 0.001). Additionally, nursing and pharmacy students' mean IPE awareness scores were higher than those of medical students (P < 0.001). However, all program participants firmly agreed that integrating IPE into the curriculum was a good idea. Conclusions The study found that students of a few programs had awareness and a positive attitude toward interprofessional education. Nonetheless, all of them favored its inclusion in their curriculum. They also stressed the need to educate teaching faculty on interprofessional education, to develop skilled facilitators within their institutions.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE We sought to assess public experiences with and perspectives about physician associates/assistants (PAs), who are taking on increasingly important roles in healthcare. METHODS We conducted a survey using a Qualtrics panel assessing whether participants (N = 1,388) received care from PAs, their perceptions of the care received, and their intentions of seeking care from PAs in the future. RESULTS About 67% of participants reported receiving care from PAs; 61.7% believed PAs have more time to communicate with patients. Most respondents were satisfied with the care received, said they were likely to see a PA again, and recommended PAs. Of those not treated by PAs, 30.6% were willing to receive care from PAs, 43.8% were willing to receive care from PAs for minor medical needs, 21.3% were unsure, and 4.3% were unwilling. Older participants and those with more education had consistently more favorable views. CONCLUSIONS Public experiences with and perceptions of PAs are positive. Future research should employ longitudinal designs to assess trends as the PA workforce continues to grow.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Effective communication among members of health care teams is essential to provide quality and patient-centered care, yet many people identify this as a challenge. We developed, implemented, and conducted a preliminary evaluation of a training to enhance communication within oncology teams. METHODS This training identifies key strategies, communication skills, and process tasks recommended to achieve the goal of using a collaborative approach to navigate communication interactions across members of the hospital team to enhance patient care outcomes and increase team effectiveness. Forty-six advanced practice providers (APPs) participated and completed an evaluation of the module. RESULTS Eighty-three percent of participants identified as female and 61% were White. Eighty-three percent of participants were nurse practitioners and 17% were physician assistants. The module was highly rated. Participants responded that they were satisfied ("agree" or "strongly agree") on 16 of 17 evaluation items (80% or higher). DISCUSSION APPs were satisfied with the course and found many aspects useful in learning and practicing skills to improve their communication with other team members to enhance their care of patients. Training with this module and other communication approaches are needed for health care professionals of all types to encourage more consistent and meaningful communication with their colleagues to improve patient care.

Abstract
A satisfactory patient care culture model can help improve most patients' quality of care in a hospital. This study aims to improve patients' experiences (PX) by implementing a culture model at King Abdul-Aziz Armed Forces Hospital in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia. To achieve the research aim, a set of interventions were implemented that included a patient and family advisory council, empathy training, recognition of the PX, leadership-patient interviews, PX champions and quality improvement. These interventions were further measured using the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems survey in the inpatient, outpatient and emergency departments. The improvement project was conducted in 2020, focusing mainly on transforming the culture and launching activities targeting specific touchpoints identified as priority areas. After making these changes, the hospital saw improvements in all patient relationships, with an average score across all dimensions collectively increasing by more than 4%. The quality improvement project using the PX culture model approach demonstrated significant improvements. In addition, employee involvement in patient care has become a significant factor in improving the quality of care. The critical elements for improving the PX and culture included recognising staff and creating networks across the system through effective leadership, employee engagement and engagement of patients and their families.

Abstract
Improving the productivity of the allied health workforce is a global priority in response to the increasing incidence of chronic disease, associated healthcare costs, and insufficient workforce volume. Team-based healthcare, specifically allied health transdisciplinary teams, might be a solution to improve the utilization of workforce while maintaining high-quality and value-based healthcare. Allied health transdisciplinary teams can be a valuable solution in settings where care is delivered by different allied health professionals. Transdisciplinary teams embrace overlapping skills and blur traditional professional boundaries, allowing one professional to deliver certain aspects of care without eroding the skills and knowledge that each profession offers. The objective of this scoping review is to systematically examine and map the characteristics, outcomes, facilitators, and barriers of contemporary allied health transdisciplinary models of care that have been implemented in hospital settings. The scoping review was guided by the Joanna Briggs Institute methodology and reported in line with the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic reviews and Meta-Analyses extension for Scoping Reviews (PRISMA-ScR). Three screening rounds were completed by two independent reviewers. Included sources were synthesized using descriptive and tabular analysis. Nine studies that evaluated hospital-based allied health transdisciplinary teams were included. One study was a randomized controlled trial, five were experimental quantitative studies, two utilized qualitative analyses, and one was a conference abstract. Most studies reported improvements in time-efficiency, quality of care, and positive stakeholder perceptions. One study reported labor and capital cost savings. Barriers and facilitators of transdisciplinary teams were categorized by the authors as person/interpersonal, workflow, organizational or implementation factors. This review presents some evidence that demonstrates the potential of hospital-based allied health transdisciplinary teams, however high-quality evidence is scarce. Further primary research should focus on stakeholder perceptions, and labor and capital cost outcomes.

Abstract
Background Inner city patients have a higher illness burden and need for care, but experience more unmet care needs. Hospital Addiction Medicine Consult Teams (AMCTs) are a promising emerging intervention. The objective of this study was to assess the impact of a Canadian AMCT-like intervention for inner city patients on reduction in high emergency department (ED) use, hospital admission, and inpatient length of stay. Methods Using a community-engaged, two-arm, pre-post, longitudinal quasi-experimental study design, 572 patients reporting active substance use, unstable housing, unstable income, or a combination thereof (302 at intervention site, 270 at control sites) were enrolled. Survey and administrative health service data were collected at baseline, six months post-enrolment, and 12 months post-enrolment. Multivariable regression models tested the intervention effect, adjusting for clinically important covariables (inpatient status at enrolment, medical complexity, age, gender, Indigenous identity, shelter use, opioid use). Results Initial bivariable analyses demonstrated an intervention effect on reduction in admissions and length of stay, however, this effect was no longer significant after adjusting for covariables. There was no evidence of reduction in high ED use on either bivariable or subsequent multivariable analysis. Conclusions After adjusting for covariables, no AMCT intervention effect was detected for reduction in high ED use, inpatient admission, or hospital length of stay. Further research is recommended to assess other patient-oriented intervention outcomes. Abstract
Purpose: As the demand for telemedicine services continues, greater knowledge about health care delivery preferences can inform high quality, efficient care. The present study sought to evaluate patient and family characteristics that may influence telemedicine utilization, particularly the choice between telephone and video telemedicine visits. Methods: This is a single-site cross-sectional, mixed methods study aimed at identifying factors associated with use of telephone and video telemedicine visits with pediatric patients and their families. Results: Seven hundred seventy-five (n = 775) caregivers completed a survey and 22 caregivers participated in follow-up focus groups and interviews. Findings indicate that female caregivers, those with higher education levels, and those with experience with technology were more likely to choose video telemedicine visits. Qualitative feedback provided several valuable recommendations based on patient/family experiences, which fell into four categories, including scheduling, accessibility, treatment resources, and care coordination. Conclusion: Findings demonstrate that previous experience, familiarity, and technology access may be important drivers in health care modality preference. Key elements that emerged relevant to user satisfaction and overall quality of the telemedicine experience: caregiver choice on visit type (telemedicine vs. in-person), child health care needs, and telemedicine education/training. As society moves toward pay-per-performance and value-based reimbursement, it is imperative that we focus on experience, health care needs, and training to improve patient experience and lower health care costs.

Abstract
Background Previous studies have found the increasing use of patient satisfaction scores by patients and insurance payers. Less is known about how patient mental health affects health care satisfaction. Objective To examine the association between baseline mental health and health care satisfaction among adults with alopecia. Methods We examined 543 adults with alopecia in the 2004-2016 Medical Expenditure Panel Survey. Mental health burden was assessed by the 6-item Kessler Psychological Distress Scale (K6) and 2-item Patient Health Questionnaire (PHQ2). Patient satisfaction was determined using the Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems survey. Results Adults with versus without alopecia had higher rates of positive PHQ2 (adjusted odds ratio [95% CI], 1.37 [1.05-1.78]); positive K6 (1.57 [1.02-2.41]), and comorbid anxiety (1.85 [1.30-2.63]) and depression (1.68 [1.19-2.39]). Positive PHQ2 (2.15 [1.13, 4.11]) and positive K6 (6.04 [2.60, 14.05]) were associated with low patient satisfaction. Whereas, there were no differences in the rates of low patient satisfaction associated with comorbid anxiety (0.74 [0.33-1.67]) and depression (1.42 [0.72-2.78]). Limitations Data are unavailable on alopecia areata phenotypes and treatment. Conclusions Adults with alopecia and greater mental health symptoms report lower patient satisfaction. Clinicians may wish to adapt their communication style to support these patients and improve overall health care satisfaction.

Abstract
Heart failure affects an estimated 6.2 million adults in the United States. African Americans have a higher incidence of heart failure at an earlier age and more rapid disease progression than other ethnicities. African Americans also often receive lower-quality, end-of-life care and less often receive palliative and advanced-care planning than Whites. Several barriers exist for effective heart failure evaluation and treatment among African Americans, including ineffective patient-provider communication, mistrust, health care providers' lack of understanding of palliative care services, and potential downstream effects of social determinants of health (eg, access barriers to healthy food and community health promotion resources). Despite the recognized benefits of palliative care, few adults with heart failure are receiving early discussions about palliative and advanced care planning to ensure delivery of goal-concordant care. This article presents a fictitious case study focused on an African American woman, Ms T, with heart failure who has been given 6 months to live. Racial inequities are presented surrounding Ms T's inadequate access to necessary health care resources and in receiving delayed communication about palliative and advanced care services. The case study also highlights ethical principles of concern, the role of an interdisciplinary team approach for patients with heart failure, and the advocacy role of nurses.

Abstract
PURPOSE Management of head and neck cancer (HNC) can result in substantial long-term, multifaceted disability, leading to significant deficits in one's functioning and quality of life (QoL). Consequently, treatment selection is a challenging component of care for patients with HNC. Clinical care guided by shared decision making (SDM) can help address these decisional challenges and allow for a more individualized approach to treatment. However, due in part to the dominance of biomedically oriented philosophies in clinical care, engaging in SDM that reflects the individual patient's needs may be difficult. CONCLUSIONS In this clinical focus article, we propose that health care decisions made in the context of biopsychosocial-framed care-one that contrasts to decision making directed solely by the biomedical model-will promote patient autonomy and permit the subjective personal values, beliefs, and preferences of individuals to be considered and incorporated into treatment-related decisions. Consequently, clinical efforts that are directed toward biopsychosocial-framed SDM hold the potential to positively affect QoL and well-being for individuals with HNC.

Abstract
The aims of this research are to assess the level of satisfaction with medical care among patients treated in osteoporosis clinics and to determine the relationship among the frequency of visits to the doctor, the duration of treatment, socio-demographic factors, and patient satisfaction with the medical care they receive. The study was conducted from August 2016 to July 2018 at osteoporosis clinics in eastern Poland. The study participants were 312 patients treated for osteopenia or osteoporosis. The authors utilized two research instruments: the PASAT POZ questionnaire and their own questionnaire. The results indicate that the duration of osteoporosis treatment is a factor that significantly influences the level of satisfaction with medical care: the longer the treatment time, the poorer the assessment of the clinic, and therefore, the lower the patient degree of satisfaction. Our analysis shows that women assess clinics more positively overall. Additionally, the higher the study participants’ age, the lower the general assessment of the clinic. A further analysis showed that respondents in better financial situations and with higher levels of education tended to assess clinics more favorably. The Pareto-Lorenz analysis indicated that the key element in general assessments of specialist clinics is the doctor. It is advisable for health service providers to monitor the quality of health care they are providing and make improvements. Therefore, further research is needed, especially in relation to chronic diseases such as osteoporosis.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Interprofessional practice and teamwork are critical components to patient care in a complex hospital environment. The implementation of electronic health records (EHRs) in the hospital environment has brought major change to clinical practice for clinicians which could impact interprofessional practice. OBJECTIVES The aim of the study is to identify, describe, and evaluate studies on the effect of an EHR or modification/enhancement to an EHR on interprofessional practice in a hospital setting. METHODS Seven databases were searched including PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, CINAHL, Cochrane, EMBASE, and ACM Digital Library until November 2021. Subject heading and title/abstract searches were undertaken for three search concepts: "interprofessional" and "electronic health records" and "hospital, personnel." No date limits were applied. The search generated 5,400 publications and after duplicates were removed, 3,255 remained for title/abstract screening. Seventeen studies met the inclusion criteria and were included in this review. Risk of bias was quantified using the Quality Assessment Tool for Studies with Diverse Designs. A narrative synthesis of the findings was completed based on type of intervention and outcome measures which included: communication, coordination, collaboration, and teamwork. RESULTS The majority of publications were observational studies and of low research quality. Most studies reported on outcomes of communication and coordination, with few studies investigating collaboration or teamwork. Studies investigating the EHR demonstrated mostly negative or no effects on interprofessional practice (23/31 outcomes; 74%) in comparison to studies investigating EHR enhancements which showed more positive results (20/28 outcomes; 71%). Common concepts identified throughout the studies demonstrated mixed results: sharing of information, visibility of information, closed-loop feedback, decision support, and workflow disruption. CONCLUSION There were mixed effects of the EHR and EHR enhancements on all outcomes of interprofessional practice, however, EHR enhancements demonstrated more positive effects than the EHR alone. Few EHR studies investigated the effect on teamwork and collaboration.

Abstract
Interprofessional education (IPE) brings educators and learners from two or more health professions together in a collaborative learning environment, specifically assuring that learners function as a team to provide patient-centered care, with each team member contributing a unique perspective. The Liaison Committee on Medical Education, the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education, and the American Board of Radiology have endorsed interprofessional and team communication as essential core competencies. Radiology educators must understand, include, and optimize IPE in their pedagogy; as a specialty, radiology must innovate more interprofessional experiences for medical students, residents and other allied health professions.

Abstract
One strategy to meet increasing consumer demand for healthcare services in the pandemic era has been to reorganize the healthcare workforce. This can be achieved by reorganizing healthcare teams, which are associated with improved workforce productivity and better patient outcomes. However, healthcare teams are described using numerous terminologies and labels, which has led to conceptual confusion for researchers and research users. In this paper, we explore the disparate nature of healthcare team terminology, ramifications of conceptual confusion, and we propose standardized terminology with synthesized definitions focused on characteristics of clinically based healthcare teams including unidisciplinary, multidisciplinary, interprofessional, and transdisciplinary teams.

Abstract
The rapid adoption of electronic health records (EHRs) has created extensive repositories of digitized data that can be used to inform improvements in care delivery, processes, and patient outcomes. While the clinical data captured in EHRs are widely used for such efforts, EHRs also capture audit log data that reflect how users interact with the EHR to deliver care. Automatically collected audit log data provide a unique opportunity for new insights into EHR user behavior and decision‐making processes. Here, we provide an overview of audit log data and examples that could be used to improve oncology care and outcomes in four domains: diagnostic reasoning and consumption, care team collaboration and communication, patient outcomes and experience, and provider burnout/fatigue. This data source could identify gaps in performance and care, physician uptake of EHR features that enhance decision‐making, and integration of data trends for oncology. Ensuring researchers and oncologists are familiar with the data's potential and developing the data engineering capacity to utilize this rich data source, will expand the breadth of research to improve cancer care.

Abstract
Objective In this study, we aimed to analyse the impact of implementing the “Getting It Right First Time” (GIRFT) recommendations in our shoulder and elbow unit, which included the introduction of a shoulder and elbow multidisciplinary team (MDT) meeting for all patients being considered for surgery. Methods A retrospective patient case-note review was undertaken to assess the impact of replacing the pre-admission clinic with an MDT meeting. We analysed how many of the proposed management plans were changed as a result of this new MDT, as well as the associated cost savings. Results Of note, 118/148 patients who attended the MDT had a provisional operative plan; 24/118 (20%) had their plan changed to non-operative management, 13/118 (11%) had a change of operation, and 6/118 (5%) were recommended further investigations or tertiary referral. This reduced theatre time required by 47 hours, an estimated saving of over £51,000. Significantly, 20/24 patients who had their plan changed from operative to non-operative still had not had an operation after a median follow-up of 39 months. Conclusion The introduction of a shoulder and elbow MDT for all patients being considered for an operation has improved decision-making, allowed optimisation of non-operative management, and helped prevent patients from having unnecessary operations. This has led to a better patient experience and a more efficient service delivery, which is associated with cost savings.

Abstract
People with hemophilia usually have negative joint consequences due to their illness. Evidence suggests that exercise and therapeutic education bring some benefits. An important factor that affects health interventions was the experience and degree of satisfaction. Thus, it is relevant to analyze qualitative and quantitative data to obtain a complete view of the patient’s experience. As a result, a concurrent nested mixed method with quantitative predominance study design was carried out. Nine people with hemophilia of Hemoaralar with a homogeneous environment participated in this study. The items evaluated were the level of satisfaction through the GCPC-UN-ESU survey and the experience with healthcare interventions through a focus group. A high level of satisfaction was obtained, but some divergences between quantitative and qualitative data were found. Further research about physical therapy and this type of intervention in people with hemophilia should be considered to better address the impact of living with the disease.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Team-based care delivered by an interprofessional team has been shown to be an effective strategy for caring for diverse, complex patient populations. Interprofessional teams can improve outcomes, reduce costs, and enhance the patient experience through patient-centered care. Nurses are essential members of healthcare teams within and across settings. BACKGROUND It is imperative for practicing nurses, educators, and researchers to be able to identify and report the contributions of nurses to team performance and care outcomes to prepare students for high-performance teamwork to improve practice and influence healthcare policy. Currently, the work of many nurses and other team members is not discoverable in electronic health records. Methods used to identify all members of the healthcare team may not be aligned with theories and definitions of teamwork embedded in emerging nursing and interprofessional accreditation guidelines. PURPOSE This paper describes a promising new, theoretically grounded approach to identify team members, including nurses, in electronic health records. METHODS Using operational constructs from a common team definition, grounded in theory, primary care teams were data mined from EHR data to find the hidden members of the team. DISCUSSION/CONCLUSION Further testing and use of this approach have the potential to provide a robust strategy to identify and distinguish each team member's contributions to clinical outcomes while laying the foundation for a meaningful study of teams in large data sets like the electronic health record. CLINICAL RELEVANCE New strategies to study nursing and team member contributions utilizing EHR data may lead to improved clinical outcomes. A better understanding of how teams are structured may enhance the understanding of each team member's contribution to outcomes and lead to more equitable recognition and reimbursement for all team members.

Abstract
This article presents evidence found in a search of national and international literature for patient preferences concerning settings in which to receive palliative care and the appropriateness of different models of palliative care. The purpose was to inform end-of-life care policy and service development of the Western Australian Department of Health through a rapid review of the literature. It was found that consumer experience of palliative care is investigated poorly, and consumer contribution to service and policy design is limited and selective. Most patients experience a mix of settings during their illness, and evidence found by the review has more to do with qualities and values that will contribute to good end-of-life care in any location. Models of care do not make systematic use of the consumer data that are available to them, although an increasingly common theme is the need for integration of the various sources of care supporting dying people. It is equally clear that most integration models limit their attention to end-of-life care provided by health services. Transitions between settings merit further attention. We argue that models of care should take account of consumer experience not by incorporating generalised evidence but by co-creating services with local communities using a public health approach.

Abstract
Social determinants of health (SDOH) are integral to consider when delivering craniomaxillofacial and facial reconstructive care for patients. The American Cleft Palate-Craniofacial Association (ACPA) has instituted a formalized multidisciplinary care team model that recognizes such determinants and has aggregated patient-led organizations to strengthen patients' education and support system. This review discusses the need for all surgeons engaged in facial and craniomaxillofacial reconstruction to consider SDOH in their practice. Additionally, we explore how factors such as race, insurance status, education level, cost, and access to follow-up care, impact surgical care for craniosynostosis, facial trauma, orthognathic surgery, head and neck cancer, and facial paralysis. We propose that the ACPA team model be applied to other societies that care for the broader scope of patients in need of facial and craniomaxillofacial reconstruction to strengthen the communication, collaboration, and standardization of care delivery that is personalized to the needs of each patient.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES Clinical laboratory testing provides essential data for making medical diagnoses. Generating accurate and timely test results clearly communicated to the treating clinician, and ultimately the patient, is a critical component that supports diagnostic excellence. On the other hand, failure to achieve this can lead to diagnostic errors that manifest in missed, delayed and wrong diagnoses. CONTENT Innovations that support diagnostic excellence address: 1) test utilization, 2) leveraging clinical and laboratory data, 3) promoting the use of credible information resources, 4) enhancing communication among laboratory professionals, health care providers and the patient, and 5) advancing the use of diagnostic management teams. Integrating evidence-based laboratory and patient-care quality management approaches may provide a strategy to support diagnostic excellence. Professional societies, government agencies, and healthcare systems are actively engaged in efforts to advance diagnostic excellence. Leveraging clinical laboratory capabilities within a healthcare system can measurably improve the diagnostic process and reduce diagnostic errors. SUMMARY An expanded quality management approach that builds on existing processes and measures can promote diagnostic excellence and provide a pathway to transition innovative concepts to practice. OUTLOOK There are increasing opportunities for clinical laboratory professionals and organizations to be part of a strategy to improve diagnoses.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Diabetes has become a major public health challenge worldwide, especially in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). Uncontrolled hyperglycemia, hypertension, and dyslipidemia major risk factors for all-cause mortality and cardiovascular disease (CVD) are common in patients with diabetes in China. We propose to compare the effectiveness of team-based care plus a clinical decision support system (CDSS) with team-based care alone on glycemic, blood pressure (BP), and lipid control, and clinical CVD reduction among patients with type-2 diabetes and at high risk for CVD. METHODS The Diabetes Complication Control in Community Clinics (D4C) study is a cluster-randomized trial conducted among 38 community health centers in Xiamen City, China. Nineteen clinics have been randomly assigned to team-based care plus CDSS and 19 to team-based care alone. Team-based care includes primary care providers, health coaches, and diabetes specialists working collaboratively with patients to achieve shared treatment goals for CVD risk factor reduction. The CDSS integrates guideline-based treatment algorithms for glycemic, BP, and lipid control, along with a patient's medical history and insurance policy, to recommend treatment and follow-up plans. In phase 1, the co-primary outcomes are mean reduction in glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c), systolic BP (SBP), and low-density lipoprotein (LDL)-cholesterol over 18 months, and the proportion of patients with controlled HbA1c, SBP, and LDL-cholesterol at 18 months' between the 2 comparison groups. In phase 2, the primary outcome is the difference in major CVD incidence (non-fatal stroke, non-fatal myocardial infarction, hospitalized heart failure, and CVD mortality) between the 2 comparison groups. Mean reduction in HbA1c, SBP, and LDL-cholesterol levels will be simultaneously modeled for a single overall treatment effect. CONCLUSION The D4C trial will generate evidence on whether a CDSS will further reduce the CVD burden among patients with diabetes beyond team-based care at community clinics. If proven effective, this implementation strategy could be scaled up within primary care settings in China and other LMICs to reduce CVD incidence and mortality among patients with diabetes.

Abstract
Objetivo Evaluar el grado de satisfacción de los pacientes con la telemedicina durante la pandemia de la COVID-19 en la Unidad de Salud Familiar Vitrius. Este trabajo podría obtener información sobre la aceptación de la teleconsulta (TC). Material y métodos Estudio transversal con 253 individuos. Se realizó un cuestionario mediante escala Likert (entre 1-nada satisfecho a 5-totalmente satisfecho) en pacientes con diabetes, hipertensión y en sujetos con otras patologías, entre el primero de abril del 2020 y el primero de mayo de ese mismo año. Se recopilaron datos sociodemográficos, citas previas de telemedicina, niveles de satisfacción con la TC y de aclaración de dudas e interés en un mayor seguimiento de telemedicina. Además, se realizó un análisis comparativo entre los períodos de enero-febrero y abril-mayo de 2020 en relación con la edad, el sexo, la hipertensión arterial (HTA), la diabetes mellitus (DM) y el tipo de contacto (presencial o telemático). Las estadísticas se realizaron con el SPSS® y Excel®. Resultados y discusión Las consultas de seguimiento de diabetes representaron el 34,4% del total. Mayoritariamente hubo un alto nivel de satisfacción e interés en el seguimiento futuro con telemedicina. Sin embargo, los individuos diabéticos y mayores estaban menos interesados en este tipo de seguimiento. Se encontraron diferencias estadísticamente significativas en satisfacción para la edad, sexo y presencia/ausencia de diabetes. El 70,6% de los pacientes sanos prefirió el contacto por correo electrónico al teléfono. Ha sido analizado el número de consultas entre enero-febrero y abril-mayo de 2020 donde se destaca: una reducción significativa del número de consultas presenciales por diabetes (-50,1%) y por hipertensión (-94,1%). Las consultas presenciales por cualquier razón disminuyeron un 72,6% y las no presenciales aumentaron un 61,9%. Existe un sesgo de selección porque la muestra no fue aleatoria. La mayor prevalencia de consultas de diabetes y la falta de ajuste por factores de confusión también pueden afectar los resultados. Conclusiones Este estudio permitió confirmar la importancia de la telemedicina en atención primaria, sobre todo durante la pandemia. En general, los participantes se quedaron satisfechos con la telemedicina y reconocieron su utilidad en el acceso a los cuidados de salud.

Abstract
Performance on the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) survey can affect up to 33% of a physician's reimbursement from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. At this pseudo-private orthopedic practice, the authors characterized how physicians often achieve drastically different scores between HCAHPS and an Internal Patient Satisfaction Questionnaire (IPSQ). Eighteen physicians were ranked separately according to percentage of top-box scores on HCAHPS and IPSQ. There was an inverse relationship between physician rank for the 2 surveys according to Spearman correlation coefficient (ρ = -0.36, P = .15). Qualitative subanalysis indicated that although "physician interaction" was the most common reason for negative comments on HCAHPS, "ancillary staff" and "workflow" concerns were common on IPSQ. The outpatient setting remains a critical component in achieving high-quality orthopedic care. Consequently, HCAHPS alone may not be a sufficient indicator of patient satisfaction for orthopedic and other subspecialty practices.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Collaborative practice improves patient outcomes and is a needed student skill. An interprofessional education and collaborative practice (IPECP) program was developed using community pharmacies, clinics, and emergency departments. This study's purpose was to assess student pharmacists' team attitudes and skill development after the IPECP using team observed structured clinical encounters (TOSCEs). METHODS Nineteen pairs of fourth-year pharmacy and second-year physician assistant students practiced together in a community pharmacy (two days) and clinic or emergency department (two days). They completed TeamSTEPPS training and two team modules. Assessments included TOSCEs and pre/post attitude surveys. RESULTS Students significantly increased all TOSCE domain skills with pre- to post-mean score (SD) of: team communications 3.0 (0.5) to 4.1 (0.5), collaboration 2.8 (0.6) to 4.0 (0.5), roles and responsibilities 2.4 (0.4) to 3.8 (0.5), patient-centered care 2.8 (0.5) to 4.1 (0.6), conflict management 2.8 (0.5) to 4.1 (0.6), team functioning 2.7 (0.6) to 3.9 (0.6), and global performance 2.8 (0.6) to 4.0 (0.5). Afterwards, students reported positive attitudes about team-based patient care. All students stated the experience increased patient and healthcare professional communication skills and understanding of patient problems, and decreased errors. Most students (84%) agreed team care increased interventions compared to individually provided care. Most students (84%) thought the experience was worthwhile, and 68% agreed the IPECP program should be continued. CONCLUSIONS This study supports that IPECP can be conducted in a community pharmacy and clinic or emergency department to improve student team skills as evidenced by documented team skills development during TOSCEs.

Abstract
Under Medicare's Value-Based Purchasing Program, scores derived from the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) survey are used in the determination of incentive payments and financial penalties for healthcare organizations. Organizations, therefore, invest in approaches to improve the likelihood of positive patient responses. Evidence suggests that nurse communication as measured by HCAHPS influences overall patient satisfaction, yet little is known regarding what patients believe constitutes effective communication with nurses. In this qualitative descriptive study, we conducted phone interviews with 49 recently hospitalized patients to better understand patients' perceptions of their communication with nurses. Our findings indicate that patients perceived their communication with nurses to unfold via nurses' behaviors. Namely, nurses' engagement with patients, anticipation of patients' needs, responsiveness to patients' concerns, and teaching practices positively influence patient satisfaction with communication with nurses. These behaviors resonated most strongly with patients during particularly memorable moments of uncertainty and vulnerability over the course of a hospital stay. These findings suggest that focusing on the development of nurses' behaviors, ensuring processes are in place to support positive behaviors and creating organizational environments that position nurses to consistently apply these behaviors, can improve patients' perceptions of their communication with nurses. These findings also provide a foundation for further research focused on developing and testing specific behavioral interventions and their effect on communication perception.

Abstract
Patients undergoing MRI may experience fear, claustrophobia, or other anxiety manifestations due to the typically lengthy, spatially constrictive, and noisy MRI acquisition process and in some cases are not able to tolerate completion of the study. This article discusses several patient-centered aspects of radiology practice that emphasize interpersonal interactions. Patient education and prescan communication represent 1 way to increase patients' awareness of what to expect during MRI and therefore mitigate anticipatory anxiety. Some patient interaction strategies to promote relaxation or calming effects are also discussed. Staff teamwork and staff training in communication and interpersonal skills are also described, along with literature evidence of effectiveness with respect to patient satisfaction and productivity endpoints. Attention to how radiologists, nurses, technologists, and other members of the radiology team interact with patients before or during the MRI scan could improve patients' motivation and ability to cooperate with the MRI scanning process as well as their subjective perceptions of the quality of their care. The topics discussed in this article are relevant not only to MRI operations but also to other clinical settings in which patient anxiety or motion represent impediments to optimal workflow.

Abstract
Introduction: Research is increasing on asynchronous technologies used by specialist clinicians and primary care, including e-mail, text, e-consultation, and store-and-forward (asynchronous) options. Studies typically describe interventions and care outcomes rather than development of clinical skills for using technology. Methods: This article attempts to compare clinicians' approaches to, and skills for, asynchronous technologies versus in-person and synchronous (i.e., video) care. Literature from technology, health care, pedagogy, and business were searched from 2000 to 2019 for title words, including synchronous (e.g., video, telemental or behavioral health, telepsychiatry), asynchronous (e.g., app, e-consultation, e-mail, text, sensor in a wearable device), education, clinical, and consultation. Results: From a total of 4,812 potential references, two authors (D.M.H., J.T.) found 4,622 eligible for full text review and found 381 articles directly relevant to the concept areas in combination for full text review. However, exclusion criteria subtracted 305, leaving a total of 76 articles. While in-person and synchronous care are similar in many ways, the clinical approach to asynchronous care has many differences. As asynchronous technologies and models of care are feasible and effective, often for consultation, an outline of patient, primary care provider, and specialist clinician goals and skills are presented. Few studies specifically discuss skills or competencies for asynchronous care, but components from published clinical informatics, video, social media, and mobile health competencies were organized into Accreditation Council of Graduate Medical Education domains. Conclusions: Further implementation of science research is needed for asynchronous technology interventions, as well as clinician competencies using asynchronous technologies, to ensure optimal outcomes for patients in health care.
