Abstract
BACKGROUND Previous studies have revealed the importance of CYFRA 21-1 in the diagnosis of oral squamous cell cancer (OSCC). However, the results are inconsistent. This meta-analysis is to evaluate CYFRA 21-1's efficacy in distinguishing OSCC. METHODS Systematic searches of Web of Science, PubMed, and CNKI (1996-2024) were conducted following the Preferred Reporting ltems for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines. RESULTS Analysis of 693 patients and 548 controls yielded combined sensitivity (SEN) of 0.71 (95% CI: 0.68, 0.75), specificity (SPE) of 0.88 (95% CI: 0.85, 0.90), and area under the curve (AUC) of 0.927. Subgroup analysis showed higher SEN (0.88), SPE (0.93), and AUC (0.962) in saliva versus serum. Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) demonstrated superior performance over electrochemiluminescent immunoassay (ECLIA) (AUC: 0.968 vs. 0.868). CONCLUSION CYFRA 21-1 is effective in OSCC diagnosis, with ELISA showing better sensitivity. Saliva emerges as a promising diagnostic medium compared to serum. REGISTRATION PROSPERO CRD42024566835.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Therapeutic possibilities for non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) have considerably increased during recent decades. OBJECTIVE To summarize the prognostic relevance of serum tumor markers (STM) for early and late-stage NSCLC patients treated with classical chemotherapies, novel targeted and immune therapies. METHODS A PubMed database search was conducted for prognostic studies on carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA), cytokeratin-19 fragment (CYFRA 21-1), neuron-specific enolase, squamous-cell carcinoma antigen, progastrin-releasing-peptide, CA125, CA 19-9 and CA 15-3 STMs in NSCLC patients published from 2008 until June 2022. RESULTS Out of 1069 studies, 141 were identified as meeting the inclusion criteria. A considerable heterogeneity regarding design, patient number, analytical and statistical methods was observed. High pretherapeutic CYFRA 21-1 levels and insufficient decreases indicated unfavorable prognosis in many studies on NSCLC patients treated with chemo-, targeted and immunotherapies or their combinations in early and advanced stages. Similar results were seen for CEA in chemotherapy, however, high pretherapeutic levels were sometimes favorable in targeted therapies. CA125 is a promising prognostic marker in patients treated with immunotherapies. Combinations of STMs further increased the prognostic value over single markers. CONCLUSION Protein STMs, especially CYFRA 21-1, have prognostic potential in early and advanced stage NSCLC. For future STM investigations, better adherence to comparable study designs, analytical methods, outcome measures and statistical evaluation standards is recommended.

Abstract
BACKGROUND This study aimed to investigate the association between baseline serum tumor markers (STMs) (carcinoembryonic antigen [CEA], neuron-specific enolase [NSE], cytokeratin-19 fragment [CYFRA21-1], carbohydrate antigen 19-9 [CA19-9], and carbohydrate antigen 125 [CA125]) and the efficacy of first-line immunotherapy in patients with advanced non-small cell lung cancer. METHODS This multicenter retrospective study evaluated patients who received first-line immunotherapy between July 2017 and July 2022. The endpoints were progression-free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS), as defined by the Response Evaluation Criteria in Solid Tumors version 1.1. We divided the patients into three groups based on STM levels: Group A ≥ threefold upper limit of normal, threefold upper limit of normal > Group B > upper limit of normal, and Group C ≤ upper limit of normal. RESULTS In total, 716 patients were included in this study. In Cox proportional hazards analyses, the STM levels in Group C were independently associated with superior PFS and OS in patients with lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD). Except for CA19-9 level, the STM levels in Group C were independently associated with superior PFS and OS in patients with lung squamous carcinoma (LUSC). Except for CEA and CA19-9 levels, the levels in Group A were independently associated with inferior PFS and OS in patients with LUAD and LUSC. CONCLUSIONS Serum CEA, NSE, CYFRA21-1, and CA125 levels can predict PFS and OS in patients with LUAD and LUSC, and serum CA19-9 levels can predict PFS and OS in patients with LUAD. The higher the serum NSE, CYFRA21-1, and CA125 levels, the worse the PFS and OS in patients with LUAD and LUSC. In addition, the higher the serum CA19-9 level, the worse the OS in patients with LUAD.

Abstract
Aim: CYFRA21-1 is a biomarker of cancer and has a promising future in the diagnosis of bladder cancer. The purpose of this study was to assess the diagnostic accuracy of CYFRA21-1 for bladder cancer. Methods: We included articles from the Cochrane Library, Web of Science, PubMed and Embase. Meta-DiSc 1.4 and Stata 12.0 were used for data analysis. Results: Twenty-eight articles were analyzed, and the results are as follows: sensitivity, specificity, PLR, NLR, DOR and AUC were 0.69 (95% CI [0.67, 0.71]), 0.81 (95% CI [0.80, 0.83]), 5.99 (95% CI [4.42, 8.11]), 0.31 (95% CI [0.25, 0.38]), 24.58 (95% CI [15.15, 39.89]) and 0.8917, respectively. Conclusion: CYFRA21-1 has a high diagnostic efficiency for bladder cancer.

Abstract
BACKGROUND To establish and validate a multi-parametric prognostic model based on clinical features and serological markers to estimate the overall survival (OS) in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients with chronic hepatitis B viral (HBV) infection. METHODS The prognostic model was established by using Lasso regression analysis in the training cohort. The incremental predictive value of the model compared to traditional TNM staging and clinical treatment for individualized survival was evaluated by the concordance index (C-index), time-dependent ROC (tdROC) curve, and decision curve analysis (DCA). A prognostic model risk score based nomogram for OS was built by combining TNM staging and clinical treatment. Patients were divided into high-risk and low-risk subgroups according to the model risk score. The difference in survival between subgroups was analyzed using Kaplan-Meier survival analysis, and correlations between the prognostic model, TNM staging, and clinical treatment were analysed. RESULTS The C-index of the model for OS is 0.769 in the training cohorts and 0.676 in the validation cohorts, respectively, which is higher than that of TNM staging and clinical treatment. The tdROC curve and DCA show the model have good predictive accuracy and discriminatory power compare to the TNM staging and clinical treatment. The prognostic model risk score based nomogram show some net clinical benefit. According to the model risk score, patients are divided into low-risk and high-risk subgroups. The difference in OS rates is significant in the subgroups. Furthermore, the model show a positive correlation with TNM staging and clinical treatment. CONCLUSIONS The prognostic model showed good performance compared to traditional TNM staging and clinical treatment for estimating the OS in NSCLC (HBV+) patients.

Abstract
Aims: To assess prognostic value of pre-therapy carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) and cytokeratin-19 fragments (CYFRA 21-1) blood levels in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients treated with immune-checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) and their early change as predictor of benefit. Materials and methods: This is a retrospective cohort study including patients with stage IIIB–IV NSCLC who received anti PD-1/PD-L1 in first or advanced lines of therapy in two institutions. A control cohort of patients treated only with chemotherapy has been enrolled as well. Results: A total of 133 patients treated with nivolumab or atezolizumab were included in the test set, 74 treated with pembrolizumab first line in the validation set and 89 in the chemotherapy only cohort. CYFRA 21-1 >8 ng/mL was correlated with overall survival (OS) in the test set, validation set and in univariate and multivariate analysis (pooled cohort hazard ratio (HR) 1.90, 95% confidence interval (CI) 1.24–2.93, p 0.003). Early 20% reduction after the third cycle was correlated with OS for CEA (HR 0.12; 95% CI 0.04–0.33; p < 0.001), and for CYFRA 21-1 (HR 0.19; 95% CI 0.07–0.55; p 0.002) Conclusions: CYFRA 21-1 pre-therapy assessment provides clinicians with relevant prognostic information about patients treated with ICI. CEA and CYFRA 21-1 repeated measures could be useful as an early marker of benefit.

Abstract
Introduction The aim of this study was to evaluate the clinical diagnostic value of combined detection of serum ferritin (SF), carcino-embryonic antigen (CEA) and C-reactive protein (CRP) in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Methods The study included 70 patients with NSCLC, 50 patients with benign lung disease and 50 healthy subjects. The serum concentrations of SF, CEA and CRP were determined by ELISA. Results The results showed that the serum levels of SF, CEA and CRP in the NSCLC group were significantly higher than those of the benign lung disease group and the control group. The expression of the above three indexes in the lung cancer group III+IV was higher than that in the I+II group (P<0.05), and the expression of SF, CEA and CRP in the adenocarcinoma group was higher than that in the squamous cell carcinoma group. The difference is statistically significant (P<0.01). When the serum CEA, SF and CRP levels were used alone for diagnosis of NSCLC, CRP had the best diagnostic value. The area under the curve was 0.795. The diagnostic sensitivity and specificity were 81.8% and 66.8%, respectivelyWhen combining these three factors, the area under the curve was 0.890, and the sensitivity and specificity were 80.3% and 82.5%, respectively. The parameters above were also significantly different (all P<0.01). Conclusion This study indicated that the combined detection of serum SF, CEA and CRP could improve the early diagnostic sensitivity of NSCLC, and may be used as a potential diagnostic method for NSCLC.

Background Lung cancer serum tumor markers including carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA), cytokeratin 19 fragment (CYFRA21‐1), and carbohydrate antigen 125(CA125) as prognostic predictors is controversial. Therefore, this study aimed to evaluate the association between these markers and the survival of patients with postoperative stage III‐N2 non‐small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Methods We enrolled 1011 patients with pathologically confirmed stage III‐N2 NSCLC who underwent resection and whose pretreatment serum tumor marker levels were available. Patients were categorized according to their serum levels into low‐, medium‐, and high‐risk groups. Overall survival (OS), progression‐free survival (PFS), local regional relapse‐free survival (LRFS), and distant metastasis‐free survival (DMFS) were calculated from the date of resection. Their association with each serum tumor marker was assessed using the log‐rank test. Results Abnormal CEA levels were associated with worse five‐year OS, PFS and DMFS; abnormal CYFRA21‐1 levels were associated with worse five‐year OS and LRFS; and abnormal CA125 levels were associated with worse five‐year OS, PFS, LRFS and DMFS. Among the risk groups, there were significant differences in five‐year OS, PFS, LRFS and DMFS (P = 0.000). In propensity score matching analysis, the model also achieved prognostic significance for all four survival classifications (P = 0.001–0.004) among the three risk groups. Conclusions The combined model achieved prognostic significance for all survival outcome types. The serum tumor markers tested are useful prognostic predictors for postoperative NSCLC patients but not for all survival outcomes. The combination of the three indices is more reliable in predicting all four of the survival outcomes. Key points Significant findings of the study Serum CEA, CYFRA21‐1, and CA125 levels can be used as prognostic factors of postoperative N2 non‐small cell lung cancer patients but not for all survival outcomes, suggesting that combinative detection of all three indices would be more reliable. What this study adds Our model utilizes available technology, with conventional cutoff values, inexpensive costs, and simple mathematics methods and, thus, can be feasibly employed by clinicians or oncologists.

Abstract
PURPOSE To find serum tumor markers for predicting the presence of lymphatic metastasis in patients with lung adenocarcinoma, and to explore the diagnostic value of IGFBP7 in predicting if lymphatic metastasis occurs in lung adenocarcinoma. METHODS The concentration of IGFBP7 in the peripheral blood of 90 serum samples, including 30 patients with lung adenocarcinoma in situ, 30 patients with lung adenocarcinoma metastasis, and 30 normal controls were detected by ELISA. The data were analyzed statistically. RESULTS The concentration of IGFBP7 and D-dimer in the metastatic lung adenocarcinoma group was significantly higher than that in the lung adenocarcinoma in situ group (P < 0.05). The expression level of IGFBP7 in serum of patients with lung adenocarcinoma was associated with the clinical stage (P < 0.05) and lymphatic metastasis (P < 0.05). Using the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve, the area under the ROC curve of IGFBP7 was 0.901 (95% Confidence Interval was 0.806 to 0.996), and 0.5 was outside the 95% confidence interval (P < 0.05). The difference was statistically significant. CONCLUSIONS IGFBP7 can predict if the lung adenocarcinoma has lymphatic metastasis, which is helpful to improve the treatment of lung adenocarcinoma, and can be used as a new tumor marker to predict whether the lung adenocarcinoma has lymphatic metastasis or not.

Abstract
BACKGROUND This study aimed to investigate the prognostic value of tumor marker index (TMI) based on preoperative cytokeratin 19 fragment (CYFRA 21-1) and squamous cell carcinoma antigen (SCC-Ag) and the relationship between preoperative TMI and treatment effectiveness of postoperative adjuvant chemotherapy for patients with esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC). PATIENTS AND METHODS Between January 2009 and December 2014, a total of 267 patients with ESCC who underwent radical resection were retrospectively enrolled. The TMI was defined as the geometric mean of normalized CYFRA 21-1 and SCC-Ag levels. The clinical and prognostic values of TMI were determined using univariate and multivariate survival analyses. RESULTS Preoperative TMI level was associated with age, tumor size, pT stage, pN stage, and CYFRA 21-1, SCC-Ag, neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), and platelet-lymphocyte ratio (PLR) levels. The 5-year overall survival rate of patients with high TMI was significantly lower than that of patients with low TMI (P < 0.001). Univariate and multivariate analyses revealed that TMI (P = 0.031) was an independent prognostic factor. Patients with ESCC with high TMI level who underwent surgery combined with postoperative chemotherapy had a significantly better prognosis than those who underwent surgery alone (P = 0.015). However, no significant difference was observed in patients with low TMI level (P = 0.682). CONCLUSION TMI as a prognostic indicator of ESCC is superior to CYFRA 21-1 and SCC-Ag. The TMI might be useful in predicting the therapeutic effectiveness of postoperative chemotherapy and selecting patients who may benefit from postoperative chemotherapy.

Abstract
BACKGROUND No tumor biomarker (TM) is available for de novo metastatic lung adenocarcinoma. OBJECTIVE To examine the serum levels of carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA), cytokeratin-19 fragments (CYFRA21-1), neuron-specific enolase (NSE), carbohydrate antigen (CA) 19-9, CA125, tissue polypeptide antigen (TPA), tissue polypeptide specific antigen (TPS), and lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) to predict de novo metastatic lung adenocarcinoma. METHODS This was a retrospective study of geriatric (⩾ 60 years of age) patients with lung cancer diagnosed at Shanxi Cancer Hospital from 02/2012 to 12/2017. CEA, CYFRA21-1, CA199, NSE, CA125, TPA, and TPS were detected by ELISA and LDH was detected by LDH kit. Their predictive value was assessed using receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves and multivariable logistic regression. RESULTS The positive rates of LDH and TMs were higher in the metastatic group (all P< 0.05). The best single TMs were CYFRA21-1 (70.5% sensitivity) and CA199 (92.0% specificity). When using any two, the best were CYFRA21-1+TPA (77.1% sensitivity) and CA199+TPA or NSE (both 84.1% specificity). High LDH and CA125 statuses were each independently associated with brain, bone, liver, and lung metastases (all P< 0.05). CONCLUSIONS Abnormal level of LDH and TMs, alone or in combination, had predictive value for metastasis in geriatric patients with lung adenocarcinoma; these indicators were also associated with the metastatic site.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE The aim of this study was to evaluate the prognostic value of a novel tumor marker index (TMI) based on preoperative serum levels of squamous cell carcinoma antigen (SCC) and cytokeratin 19 fragment (CYFRA 21-1) for patients with resectable esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC). METHODS A total of 315 ESCC patients who had underwent curative surgery between 2008 and 2012 were retrospectively included in this study. The TMI was defined as the geometric mean of normalized SCC and CYFRA21-1 levels. Univariate and multivariate survival analyses were performed to confirm the clinical and prognostic significance of preoperative SCC and CYFRA 21-1 levels and TMI. RESULTS Elevated preoperative SCC was associated with histological grade, pT status, lymph node status and TNM stage. Elevated preoperative CYFRA 21-1 was correlated with tumor size, lymph node status and TNM stage. The overall survival of patients with elevated SCC and CYFRA 21-1 levels was significantly poorer than that of patients with normal levels. Multivariate survival analysis identified that preoperative SCC (P= 0.353) and CYFRA 21-1 (P= 0.139) were not independent prognostic factors. The cut-off value of TMI based on SCC and CYFRA 21-1 was 0.531, and the patients were subdivided into high and low TMI groups. The 5-year survival rate of patients with high TMI was 30.9%, which was significantly lower than that of patients with low TMI (50.4%, P< 0.05). Multivariate analysis identified the TMI (HR 1.371; 95% CI 1.024-1.836; P= 0.034) as an independent prognostic factor. CONCLUSIONS Elevated preoperative SCC and CYFRA 21-1 levels were associated with aggressive cancer behavior in ESCC. The TMI based on preoperative SCC and CYFRA 21-1 might serve as a novel marker that can be used to predict the prognosis of ESCC patients.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) is a more frequent subtype of lung cancer and most cases are discovered in the late stages. The proliferation and metastasis of LUAD are pivotal for disease progression. Despite unremitting deeper understanding of LUAD biology, the mechanisms involved in the proliferation and metastasis of LUAD remain unclear. The objective of our article was to inquiry the expression and the function of keratin 6C (KRT6C) in LUAD cells. METHODS First, the expression level and prognostic value of KRT6C in LUAD tissues were analyzed on the basis of the data acquired from TCGA database. Through qRT-PCR, the expression level of KRT6C on LUAD cell lines (A549, H1299, PC-9) and human normal lung cell line MRC-5 was tested. After that, CCK8 and colony formation assays was utilized to detect cell proliferation. In addition, to explore the influence of KRT6C on LUAD migration and invasion ability, scratch wound healing and transwell assays were utilized. Through western blotting, the protein expression levels of KRT6C, PCNA, E-cadherin, N-cadherin, Snail and Vimentin were detected. RESULTS The outcomes revealed that KRT6C was highly expressed in LUAD tissues and cell lines. Besides, elevated level of KRT6C was related to worse prognosis in LUAD patients. Ablation of KRT6C restrained proliferation, migration and invasion of A549 cells. KRT6C deficiency augmented the expression of E-cadherin as well as reduced the expression of N-cadherin, Snail and Vimentin. CONCLUSION Above all, these consequences indicated that depletion of KRT6C suppressed A549 cell proliferation, migration and invasion, which might be achieved by regulating EMT. In general, KRT6C is identified as a potential therapeutic target for LUAD.

Abstract
Background Cytokeratins and Vimentin are intermediate filament proteins. Vimentin expression in tissue samples has been reported to be associated with a poor prognosis in non-small cell lung cancer patients who underwent surgery. CYFRA 21-1 (Cytokeratin 19 Fragment) is a well known tumor marker. Objective This study aimed to investigate the usefulness of serum vimentin as a tumor marker and significance of CYFRA 21-1 and vimentin expression on prognosis of advanced lung cancer patients. Methods One hundred and four advanced lung cancer patients and 19 non-lung cancer patients were included. A total of 157 clinical samples obtained from 113 patients was used for immunostaining of vimentin and measurements of CYFRA 21-1 and vimentin concentrations. Results Compared to low concentration, high concentration of serum CYFRA 21-1 was associated with shorter overall survival in lung cancer patients. However, there was no difference in the serum vimentin concentration between the patients with lung cancer and those with non-lung cancer. No difference in vimentin concentration was observed between the malignant and non-malignant pleural effusions. Immunostaining revealed that of the 43 tumor samples, 21 were positive and 22 were negative for vimentin. No significant difference was found in overall survival between patients with positive and negative for vimentin. Conclusion An elevated serum CYFRA 21-1 concentration was associated with shorter overall survival in advanced lung cancer patients. However, serum vimentin was not as useful as a tumor marker of lung cancer. The vimentin positivity in tumor samples might not predict patients' prognosis in patients with advanced lung cancer.

Abstract
Purpose: To study the association between pretreatment serum hepatitis B viral (HBV) DNA copy numbers and clinical outcome of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients with chronic HBV infection. Patients and methods: We retrospectively evaluated the medical records of NSCLC HBV (+) patients between January 2008 and December 2010. The HBV DNA copy numbers and other prognostic factors including albumin (ALB), C-reactive protein (CRP), platelet, neutrophil–lymphocyte ratio (NLR), platelet–lymphocyte ratio (PLR), and Glasgow Prognostic Score (GPS) were obtained before any antitumor treatment. Kaplan–Meier curves and the log-rank test were used to calculate prognostic significance. A multivariable Cox proportional hazard regression was modeled to analyze the independent prognostic factors for NSCLC HBV (+) patients. All independent prognostic factors in the Cox multivariable analysis were used to build a nomogram. The predictive accuracy of HBV DNA, TNM stage and nomogram was evaluated with the concordance index (C-index) and time-dependent receiver operating characteristics (ROC) curves, and simultaneously compared with traditional TNM staging system respectively. Results: A total of 188 patients were recruited in this study; the median age was 56 years, and the median overall survival (OS) was 34 months. Cox multivariate analysis results showed independent factors for OS including TNM stage (P=0.028), treatment (P=0.002), HBV DNA (P<0.001), and GPS (P=0.026). The nomogram model for survival was built based on four prognostic factors. The C-index for HBV DNA was 0.67, 0.69 for TNM stage, and 0.76 for the nomogram model. There was no statistical difference between HBV DNA and TNM stage (P=0.48). However, the C-index values of nomogram model were statistically higher both than HBV DNA (0.76 vs 0.67, P<0.001), and TNM stage (0.76 vs 0.69, P<0.001). Conclusion: Pretreatment serum HBV DNA copy numbers can act as a prognostic marker of survival for NSCLC patients with chronic HBV infection.

Abstract
Cytokeratin fraction 21–1 (CYFRA 21–1) has been widely studied as an important biomarker in non-small cell lung cancer for both diagnosis and prognosis. Many studies have also assessed the clinical applications of CYFRA 21–1 in head and neck cancer, but the diagnostic and prognostic values of CYFRA 21–1 are not yet fully established. This pooled analysis aims at evaluating the diagnostic accuracy and prognostic applications of CYFRA 21–1 in patients with head and neck cancer. A systematic retrieval of literatures was conducted without time or language restrictions by searching PubMed, EMBASE, Web of Science, Cochrane library and China National Knowledge Infrastructure. Twenty studies were eligible for systematic review, of which 14 conformed for diagnostic analysis and 7 for prognostic analysis. The pooled sensitivity and specificity of CYFRA 21–1 analysis were 0.53 (95% CI: 0.39–0.67) and 0.97 (95% CI: 0.93–0.99), respectively. A high level of CYFRA 21–1 was significantly correlated with shorter overall survival (HR 1.33, 95% CI: 1.13–1.56) and disease-free survival (HR 1.48; 95%CI: 1.10–1.97). Current evidence indicates that the level of CYFRA 21–1 in the serum could be used as an indicator for monitoring tumor status and evaluating its curative effects.

Abstract
Non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) is a malignant tumor with high morbidity and mortality. The clinical biomarkers currently used for the early diagnosis of lung cancer have poor sensitivity and specificity. Therefore, it is urgent to identify sensitive biomarkers for the early detection of NSCLC to improve the patient survival of patients. In our previously study, we identified glycoprotein alpha-1-antichymotrypsin (AACT) as an early biomarker of NSCLC. In this study, serum glycopeptides were enriched using the high-GlcNAc-specific binding lectin, AANL/AAL2, for further quantitative proteomics analysis using LC-MS/MS. A total of 55 differentially expressed proteins were identified by using demethylation labelling proteomics. Serum paraoxonase/arylesterase 1 (PON1) was selected for validation by western blotting and lectin-ELISA in samples from 120 enrolled patients. Our data showed that AANL-enriched PON1 has better diagnostic performance than total PON1 in early NSCLC, since it differed between early Stage I tumor samples and tumor-free samples (healthy and benign). Combining AANL-enriched PON1 with carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) significantly improved the diagnostic specificity of CEA. Moreover, combined AANL-enriched PON1 and AANL-enriched AACT was significantly different between early NSCLC samples and tumor-free samples with an AUC of 0.940, 94.4% sensitivity, and 90.2% specificity. Our findings suggest that combined AANL-enriched PON1 and AANL-enriched AACT is a potential clinical biomarker for the early diagnosis of NSCLC.

Abstract
Chronic inflammation plays an important role in tumor progression. The aim of this study was to develop an effective predictive dynamic nomogram integrated with inflammation-based factors to predict overall survival (OS) of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients with chronic hepatitis B viral (HBV) infection. We retrospectively analyzed NSCLC patients with HBV infection from Sun Yat-sen University Cancer Center between 2008 and 2010. Univariate and multivariate Cox survival analyses were performed to identify prognostic factors associated with OS of patients. All of the independent prognostic factors were utilized to build the dynamic nomogram. The predictive accuracy of the dynamic nomogram was evaluated concordance index (C-index), decision curve analysis and were compared with previous reported model and traditional TNM staging system. According to the total points (TPS) by dynamic nomogram, we further stratified patients into different risk groups. A total of 203 patients were included. Multivariate Cox analysis showed TNM stage (P = 0.019), treatment (P < 0.001), C-reactive protein (P = 0.020) and platelet (P = 0.012) were independent prognostic factors of OS. The dynamic nomogram was established by involving all the factors above. The C-index of dynamic nomogram for predicting OS was 0.76 (95%CI: 0.72-0.80), which was statistically higher than that of traditional TNM staging system (0.70, 95%CI: 0.66-0.74, P<0.001). Decision curve analysis demonstrated that the dynamic nomogram was better than the TNM staging system. The predictive accuracy of the current model keeping almost the same accuracy as previous one. Based on the total points (TPS) of dynamic nomogram, we divided the patients into 3 subgroups: low risk (TPS ≤ 107), intermediate risk (107< TPS ≤ 149), and high risk (TPS > 149). The differences of OS rates were significant in the subgroups. We propose a novel dynamic nomogram model based on inflammatory prognostic factors that is highly predictive of OS in NSCLC patients with HBV infection and outperforms the traditional TNM staging system.
