Abstract
BACKGROUND University students encounter a variety of challenges and stressors that have an impact on various aspects of their lives, including their personal well-being, resilience, socialization, and character development. The identification of students' personality traits and their correlation with future anxiety is crucial in determining the degree to which they possess the capacity to adjust and confront challenges. METHODS This cross-sectional, correlational study involved 654 students from the Faculty of Nursing at Mansoura University. Data were collected by a sociodemographic questionnaire, a Big Five Inventory questionnaire, and Zung's self-rating anxiety questionnaire. Data were analyzed using the Kolmogorov-Smirnov, Kruskal Wallis, and Mann-Whitney tests with the IBM SPSS software package, version 20.0. RESULTS The personality trait of openness was the most frequently observed among the participants, with a mean of 33.15 ± 7.22. A significant proportion of students76.0%, demonstrated an absence of feeling anxiety. A statistically significant relationship (P < 0.001) was detected between the personality traits of agreeableness, conscientiousness, and neuroticism and levels of anxiety. Furthermore, no significant correlation was found between anxiety and the traits of openness and extraversion. CONCLUSIONS This study contributes to understanding the correlation between undergraduate nursing students' academic achievement, personality traits, and anxiety levels. Thus, students must understand their personalities and highlight the importance of their psychological well-being.

Abstract
Objective Despite advancements in understanding panic disorder (PD), its etiology and pathogenesis remain elusive, particularly concerning the influence of psychosocial factors. This study aims to explore the mediating roles of neuroticism and anxiety sensitivity (AS) in the relationship between childhood trauma and PD severity. Methods We conducted a cross-sectional analysis involving 84 individuals diagnosed with PD and 112 age- and gender-matched healthy controls (HC). Childhood trauma was assessed using the validated Childhood Trauma Questionnaire (CTQ), while anxiety sensitivity levels were measured using the Anxiety Sensitivity Index-3 (ASI-3). Neuroticism was evaluated using the Chinese Big Five Personality Inventory (CBF-PI-B). The severity of PD was determined using the Panic Disorder Severity Scale (PDSS). Statistical analysis encompassed both correlation and mediation techniques to thoroughly examine the relationships among childhood trauma, neuroticism, AS, and PD severity. Results Individuals with PD exhibited significantly higher CTQ, ASI-3, and neuroticism scores compared to HC (all P<0.05). Within the PD group, strong positive correlations were found between CTQ scores, ASI-3 scores, neuroticism levels, and PDSS scores, with correlation coefficients ranging from 0.336 to 0.504 (all P<0.001). Additionally, our results indicated that neuroticism and AS acted as mediating factors in the relationship between childhood trauma and the severity of PD, with the 95% confidence interval for the indirect effects ranging from 0.028 to 0.116. Conclusion This study highlights that PD patients exhibit significantly higher levels of childhood trauma, neuroticism, and AS compared to HC. Furthermore, childhood trauma indirectly influences PD severity through a chain mediation involving neuroticism and AS. These findings suggest the importance of psychological factors in moderating the impact of early adverse experiences on the development and progression of PD.

Abstract
Although several studies have examined the relationships between obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) and the Big Five personality traits (i.e., neuroticism, extraversion, openness, agreeableness, and conscientiousness), the results have been inconsistent. Therefore, this meta-analysis comprehensively examined the relationships between OCD and these traits. In total, 23 studies (29 independent datasets) with 30,138 participants were analyzed. The pooled effect size was 0.34 (95% confidence interval [CI]: 0.28, 0.40) for neuroticism, -0.14 (95% CI: -0.18, -0.10) for extraversion, -0.04 (95% CI: -0.09, 0.02) for openness, -0.10 (95% CI: -0.16, -0.04) for agreeableness, and -0.03 (95% CI: -0.11, 0.05) for conscientiousness, indicating that OCD was associated with higher scores for neuroticism and lower scores for extraversion and agreeableness. Meta-regression and subgroup analyses indicated that heterogeneity was mainly due to differences in sample types and OCD measurement instruments. Sensitivity analysis showed that the results of the meta-analysis were robust. Overall, neuroticism was a maladaptive trait, whereas extraversion and agreeableness were adaptive traits for OCD. Although the results could be sample- and instrument-specific, our findings may inform preventions and interventions for OCD symptoms.

Abstract
Interventions to preserve functional independence in older adults are critically needed to optimize 'successful aging' among the large and increasing population of older adults in the United States. For most aging adults, the management of chronic diseases is the most common and impactful risk factor for loss of functional independence. Chronic disease management inherently involves the learning and adaptation of new behaviors, such as adopting or modifying physical activity habits and managing weight. Despite the importance of chronic disease management in older adults, vanishingly few individuals optimally manage their health behavior in the service of chronic disease stabilization to preserve functional independence. Contemporary conceptual models of chronic disease management and health habit theory suggest that this lack of optimal management may result from an underappreciated distinction within the health behavior literature: the behavioral domains critical for initiation of new behaviors (Initiation Phase) are largely distinct from those that facilitate their maintenance (Maintenance Phase). Psychological factors, particularly experiential acceptance and trait levels of openness are critical to engagement with new health behaviors, willingness to make difficult lifestyle changes, and the ability to tolerate aversive affective responses in the process. Cognitive factors, particularly executive function, are critical to learning new skills, using them effectively across different areas of life and contextual demands, and updating of skills to facilitate behavioral maintenance. Emerging data therefore suggests that individuals with greater executive function are better able to sustain behavior changes, which in turn protects against cognitive decline. In addition, social and structural supports of behavior change serve a critical buffering role across phases of behavior change. The present review attempts to address these gaps by proposing a novel biobehavioral intervention framework that incorporates both individual-level and social support system-level variables for the purpose of treatment tailoring. Our intervention framework triangulates on the central importance of self-regulatory functioning, proposing that both cognitive and psychological mechanisms ultimately influence an individuals' ability to engage in different aspects of self-management (individual level) in the service of maintaining independence. Importantly, the proposed linkages of cognitive and affective functioning align with emerging individual difference frameworks, suggesting that lower levels of cognitive and/or psychological flexibility represent an intermediate phenotype of risk. Individuals exhibiting self-regulatory lapses either due to the inability to regulate their emotional responses or due to the presence of executive functioning impairments are therefore the most likely to require assistance to preserve functional independence. In addition, these vulnerabilities will be more easily observable for individuals requiring greater complexity of self-management behavioral demands (e.g. complexity of medication regimen) and/or with lesser social support. Our proposed framework also intuits several distinct intervention pathways based on the profile of self-regulatory behaviors: we propose that individuals with intact affect regulation and impaired executive function will preferentially respond to 'top-down' training approaches (e.g., strategy and process work). Individuals with intact executive function and impaired affect regulation will respond to 'bottom-up' approaches (e.g., graded exposure). And individuals with impairments in both may require treatments targeting caregiving or structural supports, particularly in the context of elevated behavioral demands.

Abstract
There is an association between personality traits and generalized anxiety disorder (GAD). In order to differentiate the association between various personality traits and GAD, a survey was conducted among PhD students in northern China (mainland). Three conclusions could be drawn with the help of regression analysis. At first, there is a positive association between Honesty-Humility (HH)/Emotionality (E)/Conscientiousness (C)/Openness to experience (O) and GAD, whereas there is a negative association between Agreeableness (A)/eXtraversion (X) and GAD. Secondly, age, gender, major, monthly income, HH, E, X, A, C and O could explain a 21.80 % variance in GAD. Thirdly, E and C are two robust factors that associated with GAD among PhD students.

Abstract
Purpose The aim of this study was to investigate whether the personality traits of intern nursing students could serve as valid predictors of their psychological status and clinical decision making. Additionally, we aimed to understand the psychological state of intern nursing students during the regular epidemic prevention and control stage of COVID-19. Participants and Methods This study was designed as a cross-sectional survey. A total of 181 intern nursing students involved in clinical placements participated in this study. Participants provided relevant data by completing the Big Five Inventory-44, the Self-Rating Anxiety Scale, the Perceived Stress Scale 14, and the Clinical Decision-Making in Nursing Scale. Results The results showed that neuroticism (β = -0.282, p < 0.01) and openness (β = 0.302, p < 0.001) played significant roles in predicting clinical decision-making skills among intern nursing students. Regression analysis also showed extraversion (β = -0.249, p < 0.01), openness (β = 0.2, p < 0.01), and neuroticism (β = 0.391, p < 0.001) could significantly predict stress in intern nursing students. The agreeableness (β = -0.354, p < 0.001) and neuroticism (β = 0.237, p < 0.01) could also predict the anxiety of intern nursing students. Additionally, some intern nursing students still suffered from anxiety and stress in the context of the ongoing pandemic. Conclusion Personality traits are good predictors of clinical decision-making, anxiety and stress among intern nursing students. In conclusion, the openness in personality traits of intern nursing students should be valued and cultivated in clinical work, which will benefit the development of nursing talents.

Abstract
In response to the high rate of comorbidity among different types of emotional disorders in children, Transdiagnostic Unified Protocol of Emotional disorder in children (UP-C) was developed to address common underlying mechanisms in the development and maintenance of emotional disorders using empirically supported cognitive and behavioural strategies. Although, studies supported the effectiveness of this protocol in the treatment of wide range of emotional disorders, further studies are needed to examine its effect on transdiagnostic factors. The present study aimed to investigate the efficacy of the UP-C on negative affect, anxiety sensitivity and perceived control in children with emotional disorders. During this randomized controlled trial, 34 children aged 7 to 13 with emotional disorders were randomly assigned to treatment (n=18) and control (n=16) groups. The treatment group and their parents received 15 sessions of UP-C. Negative Affect Schedule for Children (PANASNA- C), Children’s Anxiety Sensitivity Index (CASI), Anxiety Control Questionnaire-Children (ACQ-C) were carried out in all phases (pre-treatment, post-treatment, 3 and 8 months follow- up). The results showed that following UP-C, negative affect (hedges’g=2.01) and anxiety sensitivity (hedges’g=1.05) were significantly reduced, and perceived control (hedges’g= –2.36) was significantly improved. The results remained relatively constant during the follow-ups. Findings provide evidence that the UP-C has significant effect on negative affect, anxiety sensitivity and perceived control as roots of emotional disorders.
