Abstract
It has become clear that superior material functions are derived from precisely controlled nanostructures. This has been greatly accelerated by the development of nanotechnology. The next step is to assemble materials with knowledge of their nano-level structures. This task is assigned to the post-nanotechnology concept of nanoarchitectonics. However, nanoarchitectonics, which creates intricate three-dimensional functional structures, is not always easy. Two-dimensional nanoarchitectonics based on reactions and arrangements at the surface may be an easier target to tackle. A better methodology would be to define a two-dimensional structure and then develop it into a three-dimensional structure and function. According to these backgrounds, this review paper is organized as follows. The introduction is followed by a summary of the three issues; (i) 2D to 3D dynamic structure control: liquid crystal commanded by the surface, (ii) 2D to 3D rational construction: a metal-organic framework (MOF) and a covalent organic framework (COF); (iii) 2D to 3D functional amplification: cells regulated by the surface. In addition, this review summarizes the important aspects of the ultimate three-dimensional nanoarchitectonics as a perspective. The goal of this paper is to establish an integrated concept of functional material creation by reconsidering various reported cases from the viewpoint of nanoarchitectonics, where nanoarchitectonics can be regarded as a method for everything in materials science.

Abstract
Co-based perovskite oxides are intensively studied as promising catalysts for electrochemical water splitting in an alkaline environment. However, the increasing Co demand by the battery industry is pushing the search for Co-free alternatives. Here we report a systematic study of the Co-free layered perovskite family RBaCuFeO5+δ (R = 4f lanthanide), where we uncover the existence of clear correlations between electrochemical properties and several physicochemical descriptors. Using a combination of advanced neutron and X-ray synchrotron techniques with ab initio DFT calculations we demonstrate and rationalize the positive impact of a large R ionic radius in their oxygen evolution reaction (OER) activity. We also reveal that, in these materials, Fe3+ is the transition metal cation the most prone to donate electrons. We also show that similar R3+/Ba2+ ionic radii favor the incorporation and mobility of oxygen in the layered perovskite structure and increase the number of available O diffusion paths, which have an additional, positive impact on both, the electric conductivity and the OER process. An unexpected result is the observation of a clear surface reconstruction exclusively in oxygen-rich samples (δ > 0), a fact that could be related to their superior OER activity. The encouraging intrinsic OER values obtained for the most active electrocatalyst (LaBaCuFeO5.49), together with the possibility of industrially producing this material in nanocrystalline form should inspire the design of other Co-free oxide catalysts with optimal properties for electrochemical water splitting.

Abstract
The next step in nanotechnology is to establish a methodology to assemble new functional materials based on the knowledge of nanotechnology. This task is undertaken by nanoarchitectonics. In nanoarchitectonics, we architect functional material systems from nanounits such as atoms, molecules, and nanomaterials. In terms of the hierarchy of the structure and the harmonization of the function, the material created by nanoarchitectonics has similar characteristics to the organization of the functional structure in biosystems. Looking at actual biofunctional systems, dynamic properties and interfacial environments are key. In other words, nanoarchitectonics at dynamic interfaces is important for the production of bio-like highly functional materials systems. In this review paper, nanoarchitectonics at dynamic interfaces will be discussed, looking at recent typical examples. In particular, the basic topics of "molecular manipulation, arrangement, and assembly" and "material production" will be discussed in the first two sections. Then, in the following section, "fullerene assembly: from zero-dimensional unit to advanced materials", we will discuss how various functional structures can be created from the very basic nanounit, the fullerene. The above examples demonstrate the versatile possibilities of architectonics at dynamic interfaces. In the last section, these tendencies will be summarized, and future directions will be discussed.

Abstract
The progressive research trends in the development of low-cost, commercially competitive solid oxide fuel cells with reduced operating temperatures are closely linked to the search for new functional materials as well as technologies to improve the properties of established materials traditionally used in high-temperature devices. Significant efforts are being made to improve air electrodes, which significantly contribute to the degradation of cell performance due to low oxygen reduction reaction kinetics at reduced temperatures. The present review summarizes the basic information on the methods to improve the electrochemical performance of conventional air electrodes with perovskite structure, such as lanthanum strontium manganite (LSM) and lanthanum strontium cobaltite ferrite (LSCF), to make them suitable for application in second generation electrochemical cells operating at medium and low temperatures. In addition, the information presented in this review may serve as a background for further implementation of developed electrode modification technologies involving novel, recently investigated electrode materials.

Abstract
Perovskites have shown tremendous promise as functional materials for several energy conversion and storage technologies, including rechargeable batteries, (electro)catalysts, fuel cells, and solar cells. Due to their excellent operational stability and performance, high-entropy perovskites (HEPs) have emerged as a new type of perovskite framework. Herein, this work reviews the recent progress in the development of HEPs, including synthesis methods and applications. Effective strategies for the design of HEPs through atomistic computations are also surveyed. Finally, an outlook of this field provides guidance for the development of new and improved HEPs.

Enhanced SOFC Cathode Performance Through Surface Modification of NdBa0.5Sr0.5Co2O5+δ Nanoparticles. JURNAL KIMIA SAINS DAN APLIKASI 2022. Abstract
The cathode materials fabrication with outstanding performance and stability at intermediate temperatures of 600–800℃ is required for the prospective mass production of solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs). Infiltration is a potential method because it has proven successful in fabrication and cell performance enhancement. This study mainly focuses on the electrical conductivity and long-term reliability of cathode symmetric cells NdBa0.5Sr0.5Co2O5+δ (NBSC) fabricated by traditional solid-state reaction techniques. The electrical conductivity value of the cathode is in the range of 174–278 S.cm-1. Impedance analysis showed that the infiltration of 0.5M SDC on the NBSC cathode surface dramatically reduced the polarization resistance (Rp) between layers (cathode-electrolyte) from 3.32 Ω.cm2 to 1.82 Ω.cm2 at 600℃ or decreased by 45 % compared to NBSC cathode without 0.5M SDC infiltration. The enhanced stability of NBSC cathode specimens with 0.5M SDC infiltration (NBSC+0.5 M SDC) under SOFC operating conditions proves that samples with infiltration extend their lifetime. Compared to the NBSC cathode, the NBSC+0.5 M SDC cathode has better long-term stability with a lower RP value of 2.35 Ω.cm2. In the OPP range of 0.214-0.0027 atm at 800℃, the relatively tiny Rp value of the symmetrical cell is between 0.030 Ω.cm2 and 0.039 Ω.cm2, below the 0.15 Ω.cm2 suitable performance limit for solid oxide fuel cells.

Abstract
Differential scanning calorimetry studies of the complex oxide YBaCo2O6-δ (YBC), combined with the literature data, allowed outlining the phase behavior of YBC depending on the oxygen content and temperature between 298 K and 773 K. The oxygen nonstoichiometry of single-phase tetragonal YBC was measured at different temperatures and oxygen partial pressures by both thermogravimetric and flow reactor methods. The defect structure of YBC was analyzed. As a result, the thermodynamic functions (∆Hi○, ∆Si○) of the defect reactions in YBC were determined. Experimental data on the oxygen content and those calculated based on the theoretical model were shown to be in good agreement. Standard enthalpies of formation at 298.15 K (∆Hf○) were obtained for YBC depending on its oxygen content using solution calorimetry. It was found that ∆Hf○ = f(6-δ) function is linear in the range of (6-δ) from 5.018 to 5.406 and that its slope is close to the value of the enthalpy of the quasichemical reaction describing oxygen exchange between the oxide and ambient atmosphere, which confirms the reliability of the suggested defect structure model.

Abstract
Mixed conducting cobaltites PrBaCo2-xFexO6-δ (x = 0-0.6) with a double perovskite structure are promising materials for ceramic semi-permeable membranes for oxygen separation and purification due to their fast oxygen exchange and diffusion capability. Here, we report the results of the detailed study of an interplay between the defect chemistry, oxygen nonstoichiometry and oxygen transport in these materials as a function of iron doping. We show that doping leads to a systematic variation of both the thermodynamics of defect formation reactions and oxygen transport properties. Thus, iron doping can be used to optimize the performance of mixed conducting oxygen-permeable double perovskite membrane materials.

Abstract
LaBaCo2-xMoxO5+δ (LBCMx, x = 0-0.08) cathodes synthesized by a sol-gel method were evaluated for intermediate-temperature solid oxide fuel cells. The limit of the solid solubility of Mo in LBCMx was lower than 0.08. As the content of Mo increased gradually from 0 to 0.06, the thermal expansion coefficient decreased from 20.87 × 10-6 K-1 to 18.47 × 10-6 K-1. The introduction of Mo could increase the conductivity of LBCMx, which varied from 464 S cm-1 to 621 S cm-1 at 800 °C. The polarization resistance of the optimal cathode LBCM0.04 in air at 800 °C was 0.036 Ω cm2, reduced by a factor of 1.67 when compared with the undoped Mo cathode. The corresponding maximum power density of a single cell based on a YSZ electrolyte improved from 165 mW cm-2 to 248 mW cm-2 at 800 °C.

Abstract
In this work, a technology was developed for the formation of BaCe0.8Sm0.2O3+1 wt% CuO (BCS-CuO)/Ce0.8Sm0.2O1.9 (SDC) thin-film electrolyte membranes for intermediate-temperature solid oxide fuel cells (IT-SOFCs) on porous NiO-BCS-CuO anode substrates using direct electrophoretic deposition (EPD). The effect of increasing the zeta potential when modifying the base suspension of a micro-sized SDC-gn powder (glycine–nitrate method) with the addition of a SDC-lec nanopowder (laser evaporation–condensation) was investigated. Dependences of the current strength on the deposition time and the deposited weight on the EPD voltage were obtained, and evolution of the morphology of the coatings during the modification of the SDC-gn suspension and a suspension of BCS-CuO powder was studied. The compatibility of the shrinkage kinetics of the SDC, the BCS-CuO electrolyte coatings and the NiO-BCS-CuO anode substrate was studied during the high-temperature sintering. Dense BCS-CuO/SDC films of different thicknesses were obtained for the first time on porous NiO-BCS-CuO anode substrates and comprehensive microstructural and electrochemical studies were carried out. The developed technology can be applied to the formation of anode-supported SOFCs with thin-film electrolyte membranes.

Abstract
Triple perovskite has been recently developed for the intermediate temperature solid oxide fuel cell (IT-SOFC). The performance of Nd1.5Ba1.5CoFeMnO9−δ (NBCFM) cathodes for IT-SOFC is investigated in this work. The interfacial polarization resistance (RP) of NBCFM is 1.1273 Ω cm2~0.1587 Ω cm2 in the range of 700–800 °C, showing good electrochemical performance. The linear thermal expansion coefficient of NBCFM is 17.40 × 10−6 K−1 at 40–800 °C, which is significantly higher than that of the electrolyte. In order to further improve the electrochemical performance and reduce the thermal expansion coefficient (TEC) of NBCFM, Ce0.8Sm0.2O2−δ (SDC) is mixed with NBCFM to prepare an NBCFM-xSDC composite cathode (x = 0, 10, 20, 30, 40 wt.%). The thermal expansion coefficient decreases monotonically from 17.40 × 10−6 K−1 to 15.25 × 10−6 K−1. The surface oxygen exchange coefficient of NBCFM-xSDC at a given temperature increases from 10−4 to 10−3 cm s−1 over the po2 range from 0.01 to 0.09 atm, exhibiting fast surface exchange kinetics. The area specific resistance (ASR) of NBCFM-30%SDC is 0.06575 Ω cm2 at 800 °C, which is only 41% of the ASR value of NBCFM (0.15872 Ω cm2). The outstanding performance indicates the feasibility of NBCFM-30% SDC as an IT-SOFC cathode material. This study provides a promising strategy for designing high-performance composite cathodes for SOFCs based on triple perovskite structures.

Abstract
The design of new oxide compounds that can be used as oxygen- or proton-conducting electrolytes for solid oxide fuel cells is actively in progress. Despite the intensive research activities regarding electrolytes with perovskite/fluorite structures, the search for other structural alternatives is of paramount importance. In this study we focus on a novel material with significantly improved properties for the electrochemical purposes. The two-layered BaNd2In2O7 perovskite with a Ruddlesden–Popper structure was investigated as a protonic conductor for the first time. In detail, its local structure, water uptake, and the ionic (O2−, H+) conductivity were comprehensively studied. The nature of rare-earth elements (M = La, Nd) in the structure of BaM2In2O7 on the structural and transport properties was revealed. The presented analysis showed that the composition of BaNd2In2O7 is nearly pure proton conductor below 350 °C. This work opens up a new way in the design of protonic conductors with double-layered perovskite structure.

Abstract
The work focused on the layered perovskite-related materials as the potential electrolytic components of such devices as proton conducting solid oxide fuel cells for the area of clean energy. The two-layered perovskite BaLa2In2O7 with the Ruddlesden–Popper structure was investigated as a protonic conductor for the first time. The role of increasing the amount of perovskite blocks in the layered structure on the ionic transport was investigated. It was shown that layered perovskites BaLanInnO3n+1 (n = 1, 2) demonstrate nearly pure protonic conductivity below 350 °C.

Abstract
Protonic ceramic fuel cells (PCFCs) offer a convenient means of converting chemical energy into electricity with high performance and efficiency at low- and intermediate-temperature ranges. However, in order to ensure good life-time stability of PCFCs, it is necessary to ensure rational chemical design in functional materials. Within the present work, we propose new Ni-based perovskite phases of PrNi0.4M0.6O3–δ (where M = Co, Fe) for potential utilization in protonic ceramic electrochemical cells. Along with their successful synthesis, functional properties of the PrNi0.4M0.6O3–δ materials, such as chemical compatibility with a number of oxygen-ionic and proton-conducting electrolytes, thermal expansion behavior, electrical conductivity, and electrochemical behavior, were comprehensively studied. According to the obtained data, the Co-containing nickelate exhibits excellent conductivity and polarization behavior; on the other hand, it demonstrates a high reactivity with all studied electrolytes along with elevated thermal expansion coefficients. Conversely, while the iron-based nickelate had superior chemical and thermal compatibility, its transport characteristics were 2–5 times worse. Although, PrNi0.4Co0.6O3–δ and PrNi0.4Fe0.6O3–δ represent some disadvantages, this work provides a promising pathway for further improvement of Ni-based perovskite electrodes.

Abstract
In this study, the technology of electrophoretic deposition (EPD) micrometer barrier layers based on a BaCe0.8Sm0.19Cu0.1O3 (BCSCuO) protonic conductor on dense carrying Ce0.8Sm0.2O1.9 (SDC) solid-state electrolyte substrates is developed. Methods for creating conductive sublayers on non-conductive SDC substrates under EPD conditions, such as the synthesis of a conductive polypyrrole (PPy) layer and deposition of a layer of finely dispersed platinum from a suspension of its powder in isopropanol, are proposed. The kinetics of disaggregation, disperse composition, electrokinetic potential, and the effect of adding iodine to the BCSCuO suspension on these parameters as factors determining the preparation of stable suspensions and successful EPD processes are explored. Button cells based on a carrying SDC electrolyte of 550 μm in thickness with BCSCuO layers (8–35 μm) on the anode, cathode, and anode/cathode side, and Pt electrodes are electrochemically tested. It was found that the effect of blocking the electronic current in the SDC substrate under OCV conditions was maximal for the cells with barrier layers deposited on the anode side. The technology developed in this study can be used to fabricate solid oxide fuel cells with doped CeO2 electrolyte membranes characterized by mixed ionic–electronic conductivity (MIEC) under reducing atmospheres.
