Electrochemical Nanosensor for the Simultaneous Determination of Anticancer Drugs Epirubicin and Topotecan Using UiO-66-NH 2/GO Nanocomposite Modified Electrode. BIOSENSORS 2024; 14:229. [PMID: 38785703 PMCID: PMC11117627 DOI: 10.3390/bios14050229] [Citation(s) in RCA: 0] [Impact Index Per Article: 0] [Reference Citation Analysis] [Abstract] [Key Words] [MESH Headings] [Track Full Text] [Subscribe] [Scholar Register] [Received: 03/09/2024] [Revised: 04/17/2024] [Accepted: 04/22/2024] [Indexed: 05/25/2024]
Abstract
In this work, UiO-66-NH2/GO nanocomposite was prepared using a simple solvothermal technique, and its structure and morphology were characterized using field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS), and X-ray diffraction (XRD). An enhanced electrochemical sensor for the detection of epirubicin (EP) was proposed, which utilized a UiO-66-NH2/GO nanocomposite-modified screen-printed graphite electrode (UiO-66-NH2/GO/SPGE). The prepared UiO-66-NH2/GO nanocomposite improved the electrochemical performance of the SPGE towards the redox reaction of EP. Under optimized experimental conditions, this sensor demonstrates a remarkable limit of detection (LOD) of 0.003 µM and a linear dynamic range from 0.008 to 200.0 µM, providing a highly capable platform for sensing EP. Furthermore, the simultaneous electro-catalytic oxidation of EP and topotecan (TP) was investigated at the UiO-66-NH2/GO/SPGE surface utilizing differential pulse voltammetry (DPV). DPV measurements revealed the presence of two distinct oxidation peaks of EP and TP, with a peak potential separation of 200 mV. Finally, the UiO-66-NH2/GO/SPGE sensor was successfully utilized for the quantitative analysis of EP and TP in pharmaceutical injection, yielding highly satisfactory results.

Abstract
In this research, we propose a novel approach for constructing a sensitive and selective electrochemical sensor utilizing high-quality multi-walled carbon nanotubes functionalized with amino groups (MWCNT-NH2) for the detection of Talazoparib (TLZ), a poly (ADP-ribose) polymerase (PARP) enzyme inhibitor, in real samples. The MWCNT-NH2-based sensor exhibited remarkable performance characteristics, including excellent repeatability, reproducibility, and high selectivity against various interferences. Under optimized conditions, the sensor demonstrated a wide linear concentration range of 1.0-5.0 μM, with a low limit of detection (LOD) of 0.201 μM. Substantiated by rigorous analysis of pharmaceutical and biological matrices, our methodology emerges as a paragon of reliability, boasting recovery rates within the satisfactory bracket of 96.38-105.25%. The successful application of the MWCNT-NH2-based sensor in practical sample analysis highlights its potential for implementation in clinical and pharmaceutical settings. This research not only advances the application of MWCNT-NH2 in electrochemical sensing but also opens new avenues for the development and monitoring of innovative anticancer treatments. The insights gained from our study have far-reaching implications, pointing toward a future where precision and innovation converge to improve patient care and treatment outcomes.

Abstract
An electrochemically active polymer, polythionine (PTN), was synthesized in natural deep eutectic solvent (NADES) via multiple potential scans and characterized using cyclic voltammetry and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). NADES consists of citric acid monohydrate, glucose, and water mixed in the molar ratio of 1:1:6. Electrodeposited PTN film was then applied for the electrostatic accumulation of DNA from salmon sperm and used for the sensitive detection of the anticancer drug epirubicin. Its reaction with DNA resulted in regular changes in the EIS parameters that made it possible to determine 1.0-100 µM of epirubicin with the limit of detection (LOD) of 0.3 µM. The DNA sensor developed was successfully applied for the detection of epirubicin in spiked samples of artificial and natural urine and saliva, with recovery ranging from 90 to 109%. The protocol of the DNA sensor assembling utilized only one drop of reactants and was performed with a minimal number of steps. Together with a simple measurement protocol requiring 100 µL of the sample, this offers good opportunities for the further use of the DNA sensor in monitoring the drug level in biological samples, which is necessary in oncology treatment and for the pharmacokinetics studies of new antitumor drugs.

Abstract
Herein, we introduce a stable and green Au@g-C3N4 nanocomposite as a selective electrochemical sensor for vortioxetine (VOR) determination. The electrochemical behavior of VOR on the developed electrode was investigated through cyclic voltammetry (CV), differential pulse voltammetry (DPV), electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), and chronoamperometry. The Au@g-C3N4 nanocomposite was thoroughly observed by X-ray diffraction (XRD), energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX), Raman spectroscopy, and scanning electron microscopy. The Au@g-C3N4 nanocomposite had a higher conductivity and a narrower band gap than pure g-C3N4, causing higher electrochemical activity for VOR detection. Moreover, Au@g-C3N4 on the glassy carbon electrode (Au@g-C3N4/GCE) monitored a low level of VOR with high efficiency and low interference as an environmentally friendly processing approach. Interestingly, the as-fabricated sensor exhibited an ultrahigh selectivity for recognizing VOR with a detection limit (LOD) of 3.2 nM. Furthermore, the developed sensor was applied to determine VOR in pharmaceutical and biological samples, which indicated a high selectivity in the presence of interferences. This study suggests new insights into the phytosynthesis synthesis of nanomaterials with excellent biosensing applications.

Abstract
A crucial problem that needs to be resolved is the sensitive and selective monitoring of chlorophenol compounds, especifically 4-chlorophenol (4-CP), one of the most frequently used organic industrial chemicals. In light of this, the goal of this study was to synthesize Fe3O4 incorporated cellulose nanofiber composite (Fe3O4/CNF) as an amplifier in the development of a modified carbon paste electrode (CPE) for 4-CP detection. Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) was used to evaluate the morphology of the synthesized nanocatalyst, while differential pulse voltammetry (DPV), electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), and linear sweep voltammetry (LSV) techniques were implemented to illuminate the electrochemical characteristics of the fabricated sensor. The ultimate electrochemical sensor (Fe3O4/CNF/CPE) was used as a potent electrochemical sensor for monitoring 4-CP in the concentration range of 1.0 nM-170 μM with a limit of detection value of 0.5 nM. As a result of optimization studies, 8.0 mg Fe3O4/CNF was found to be the ideal catalyst concentration, whereas pH = 6.0 was chosen as the ideal pH. The 4-CP's oxidation current was found to be over 1.67 times greater at ideal operating conditions than it was at the surface of bare CPE, and its oxidation potential decreased by about 120 mV. By using the standard addition procedure on samples of drinking water and wastewater, the suggested capability of Fe3O4/CNF/CPE to detect 4-CP was further investigated. The recovery range was found to be 98.52-103.66%. This study paves the way for the customization of advanced nanostructure for the application in electrochemical sensors resulting in beneficial environmental impact and enhancing human health.

Abstract
Epirubicin is prescribed as an essential drug for treating breast, prostate, uterine, and gastrointestinal cancers. It has many side effects, such as heart failure, mouth inflammation, abdominal pain, fever, and shortness of breath. Its measurement is necessary by straightforward and cheap methods. The application of aptamer-based electrochemical sensors is accounted as a selective option for measuring different compounds. In this work, a thiol-modified aptamer was self-assembled on the surface of the gold electrode (AuE) boosted with carbon nano-onions (CNOs), and coupled with methylene blue (MB) as an electroactive tracker to achieve a sensitive and selective aptasensor. In the absence of the epirubicin, CNOs binds to the aptamer through a π-π interaction enhancing the MB electrochemical signal. When epirubicin binds to the aptamer, the adsorption of CNOs and MB to the aptamer is not well established, so the electrochemical signal is reduced, consequently, the epirubicin value can be measured. The prepared aptasensor demonstrated an excellent sensitivity with a curve slope of 0.36 μI/nM, and 3 nM limit of detection in the linear concentration range of 1-75 nM. The prepared aptasensor was accurately capable of measuring epirubicin in blood serum samples.

Abstract
Nanotechnology is an interdisciplinary study that has been developing worldwide in recent years and has a serious impact on human life. The fact that the nanoparticles of plant origin are clean, non-toxic, and biocompatible has enabled new fields of study. The Hibiscus sabdariffa (H. sabdariffa) plant has been attracted by scientists because of its impact on health and many other areas. The lipid peroxidation inhibiting activity, antioxidant properties, and antimicrobial properties of H. sabdariffa plant with Ag-Pd metal was ditermined. For the total phenolic component, gallic acid was used as the standard and quarcetin was used for the total flavonoid. The lipid peroxidation inhibition activity of Ag-Pd NPs in ethanol extract was found to be very well compared to the positive control (BHA). The lowest and highest concentrations of DPPH radical scavenging activity were 82.178-97.357%, whereas for BHA these values were found to be 84.142-94.142%. The highest concentration of Ag-Pd NPs at 200 μg/mL the DPPH radical quenching activity was higher than BHA. Ag-Pd NPs showed a good antimicrobial activity against certain pathogenic microorganisms such as Bacillus subtilis, Enterococcus faecalis, Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Candida albicans, which are the causative agents of various diseases in humans. Abstract
In the past several decades, significant efforts have been paid toward photocatalytic degradation of organic pollutants in environmental research. During the past years, titanium dioxide nano-architectures (TiO2 NAs) have been widely used in water purification applications with photocatalytic degradation processes under Uv/Vis light illumination. Photocatalysis process with nano-architectural design of TiO2 is viewed as an efficient procedure for directly channeling solar energy into water treatment reactions. The considerable band-gap values and the subsequent short life time of photo-generated charge carriers are showed among the limitations of this approach. One of these effective efforts is the using of oxidation processes with advance semiconductor photocatalyst NAs for degradation the organic pollutants under UV/Vis irradiation. Among them, nano-architectural design of TiO2 photocatalyst (such as Janus, yolk-shell (Y@S), hollow microspheres (HMSs) and nano-belt) is an effective way to improve oxidation processes for increasing photocatalytic activity in water treatment applications. In the light of the above issues, this study tends to provide a critical overview of the used strategies for preparing TiO2 photocatalysts with desirable physicochemical properties like enhanced absorption of light, low density, high surface area, photo-stability, and charge-carrier behavior. Among the various nanoarchitectural design of TiO2, the Y@S and HMSs have created a great appeal given their considerable large surface area, low density, homogeneous catalytic environment, favorable light harvesting properties, and enhanced molecular diffusion kinetics of the particles. In this review was summarized the developments that have been made for nano-architectural design of TiO2 photocatalyst. Additional focus is placed on the realization of interfacial charge and the possibility of achieving charge carriers separation for these NAs as electron migration is the extremely important factor for increasing the photocatalytic activity.

Abstract
Over the past few decades, phenolic compounds have been broadly exploited in the industries to be utilized in several applications including polycarbonate plastic, food containers, epoxy resins, etc. One of the major compounds in phenolics is Bisphenol-S (BPS) which has dominantly replaced Bisphenol-A in several applications. Phenolic compounds are extensively drained into the environment without proper treatment and cause several health hazards. Thus, to tackle this serious problem an electrochemical sensor based on SnO2/GCE has been successfully engineered to monitor the low-level concentration of BPS in water samples. The fabrication of SnO2 nanoparticles (SnO2 NPs) was confirmed through FTIR, XRD, and TEM to examine the size, crystallinity, internal texture, and functionalities of the prepared material. The fabricated material was exploited as a chemically modified sensor for the determination of BPS in water samples collected from different sources. Under optimal conditions such as scan sweep 100 mV/s, PBS electrolyte pH of 6, potential window (0.3-1.3 V), the proposed sensor manifested an excellent response for BPS. The LOD of the present method for BPS was calculated as 0.007 μM, respectively. Moreover, the stability and selectivity profile of SnO2/GCE for BPS in the real matrix was examined to be outstanding.

Abstract
Determining Caffeic acid is important as an antioxidant compound in food. In this study, caffeic acid (CA) was measured using a carbon paste electrode modified with GNR/CoFe2O4@NiO and 1-Ethyl-3-methylimidazolium acetate (EMIM Ac) as ion liquid. A simple sensor showed a higher current than a bare carbon paste; thus, it can be said that the modified electrode has a higher sensitivity for detecting CA. The linear range of this sensor and its detection limit was equal to 0.01-100.0 μM and 0.01 μM, respectively. Moreover, the developed electrode indicated outstanding selectivity in the presence of several interferences, high sensitivity, reproducibility, and long-term stability. The percentage recovery of CA obtained with the developed sensor affirmed its reliability for CA determination in real samples. The modified sensor's accuracy was confirmed to identify this analyte according to the results.

Abstract
Diltiazem (DTZ) is one of the most important drugs in blood pressure that is used to treat cardiovascular diseases. With this overuse of this drug and its use for suicide, swelling and neck cramps and fever has made it important to measure it. So, this paper will give an account of modification of carbon paste electrode with the ternary-nanocomposite including reduced-graphene oxide (rGO), cadmium oxide and 1-ethyl 3- methyl imidazole chloride as ionic liquid for using the determination of DTZ in blood serum samples. Characterization of the synthesized rGO, cadmium oxide, and modified electrodes and their electrochemical performance were studied by, scanning electron microscopy, and X-ray diffraction, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, and voltammetry technique. The improvement of the DTZ oxidation current by modified electrode originated from the increased electrode surface area. The optimized method was validated and the results showed that LOD = 3 nM and good linearity. Also, a linear concentration range of 0.01-150 μM with a LOD of 0.03 μM in presence methyldopa were achieved based on the electrochemical investigations. The prepared sensor showed good repeatability (RSD = 2.26%) and selectivity for DTZ determination in the real samples (relative recovery of 93-102%).

Abstract
This study, it is aimed to develop an electrochemical aptasensor that can detect phosphate ions using 3.3'5.5' tetramethylbenzidine (TMB). It is based on the principle of converting the binding affinity of the target molecule phosphate ion (PO43-) into an electrochemical signal with specific aptamer sequences for the aptasensor to be developed. The aptamer structure served as a gate for the TMB to be released and was used to trap the TMB molecule in mesoporous silica nanoparticles (MSNPs). The samples for this study were characterized by transmission electron spectroscopy (TEM), Brunner-Emmet-Teller, dynamic light scattering&electrophoretic light scattering, and induction coupled plasma atomic emission spectroscopy. According to TEM analysis, MSNPs have a morphologically hexagonal structure and an average size of 208 nm. In this study, palladium-carbon nanoparticles (Pd/C NPs) with catalytic reaction were used as an alternative to the biologically used horseradish peroxidase (HRP) enzyme for the release of TMB in the presence of phosphate ions. The limit of detection (LOD) was calculated as 0.983 μM, the limit of determination (LOQ) was calculated as 3.276 μM, and the dynamic linear phosphate range was found to be 50-1000 μM. The most important advantage of this bio-based aptasensor assembly is that it does not contain molecules such as a protein that cannot be stored for a long time at room temperature, so its shelf life is very long compared to similar systems developed with antibodies. The proposed sensor shows good recovery in phosphate ion detection and is considered to have great potential among electrochemical sensors.

Abstract
Environmental pollution has become a major human concern with the extensive exploitation of pesticides. Pentachlorophenol (PCP) is the most hazardous of all chlorophenols which are being used as pesticide, fungicide, and wood preservative. Thus, the fabrication of ultrasensitive electrochemical methods for the determination of pesticides is of great significance. In the present experiment, a simple, green, and sensitive electrochemical sensor was constructed for the determination of PCP by using a chemically modified nickel ferrite glassy carbon electrode (NiFe2O4/GCE). The fabricated nanoparticles were primarily characterized by several analytical tools to confirm the functionalities, surface texture, crystallinity, and elemental composition. For the investigation of conductive nature, the proposed NiFe2O4/GCE was exploited to the primary electrochemical characterization tools e.g. Cyclic voltammetry (CV) and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). The ultra-sensitive determination of PCP was carried out under the linear dynamic range from 0.01 to 90 μM at the pulse amplitude of 80 mV/s in BRB buffer pH of 4. The limit of detection of the developed methods for PCP was calculated to be 0.0016 μM. The analytical applicability of the fabricated sensor was tested in different water samples depicting the acceptable recovery values.

Facile Gold-Nanoparticle Boosted Graphene Sensor Fabrication Enhanced Biochemical Signal Detection. NANOMATERIALS 2022; 12:nano12081327. Abstract
Graphene has been considered as an excellent biochemical sensors’ substrate material because of its excellent physical and chemical properties. Most of these sensors have employed enzymes, antibodies, antigens, and other biomolecules with corresponding recognition ability as recognition elements, to convert chemical signals into electrical signals. However, oxidoreductase enzymes that grow on graphene surfaces are affected significantly by the environment and are easily inactivated, which hinders the further improvement of detection sensitivity and robusticity. A gold-boosted graphene sensor was fabricated by the in situ electrochemical deposition of inorganic gold nanoparticles on vertical graphene nanosheets. This approach solves the instability of biological enzymes and improves the detection performance of graphene-based sensors. The uric acid sensitivity of the gold-boosted electrode was 6230 µA mM−1 cm−2, which is 6 times higher than the original graphene electrode. A 7 h GNSs/CC electrode showed an impressive detection performance for ascorbic acid, dopamine, and uric acid, simultaneously. Moreover, it exhibited a reliable detection performance in human serum in terms of uric acid. The possible reason could be that the vertical aliened graphene nanosheet acts as a reaction active spot. This 3D graphene-nanosheet-based doping approach can be applied to a wide variety of inorganic catalytic materials to enhance their performance and improve their durability in aspects such as single-atom catalysis and integration of multiple catalytic properties.

Abstract
An electrochemical aptasensor has been developed to determine K+ using electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. The polyaniline (PANI) coating was first electrodeposited on a GCE. Then, the potassium-selective aptamer [G3(T2AG3)3] was adsorbed through an electrostatic force between PANI and aptamer. In the presence of K+, the single-stranded DNA is folded into the G-quadruplex configuration, which acts as a barrier against electron transfer at the GCE surface. AFM and FE-SEM images characterize the surface morphology at each fabrication stage. As the K+ concentration increased, the charge transfer resistance (Rct) increased, and the plot of ΔRct versus the logarithm of the K+ concentration is linear over a wide range of 10 pM-60 μM with a low detection limit of 3.7 pM. Finally, the proposed sensor was used to determine K+ in water, serum, urine, and fruit samples. Moreover, the binding stability of the aptamer/PANI and K+/Aptamer/PANI and the interactions between the aptamer and PANI were analyzed through molecular dynamics simulation.

Abstract
In the present work, a novel electrochemical sensor modified glassy carbon electrode with ion-imprinted polymers (IIP-GCE) was applied for uranyl ions (UO22+) determination. Surface modifier was synthesized through precipitation polymerization method, using acrylic acid as a monomer, benzoyl peroxide (BPO) as initiator, and trimethylolpropane triacrylate (TMPTA) as cross-linker. A new uranyl-trans-3-(3-pyridyl) acrylic acid complex was employed, serving as an active and specific site on the synthesized modifier. Next, the synthesized modifier was characterized using X-ray diffraction (XRD), Scanning Electron microscopy (SEM), and Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FT-IR) techniques. UO22+ ions were detected using a differential pulse adsorptive anodic stripping voltammetry method. Under the optimized conditions (pH = 8.0, pre-concentration time = 10 min and pre-concentration potential = -0.30 V), the modified electrode exhibited linear behavior in the interval of 1.27-95.49 μg.L-1 with a limit of detection (LOD) of 0.43 μg.L-1. Also, the constructed ion-imprinted sensor showed a successful application for determining UO22+ ions with recovery range of 97.6-101% in real samples.

Abstract
This study was performed to investigate the simultaneous detection of carmoisine and tartrazine, two food azo dyes, with a new voltammetric sensor based on graphene oxide-Fe3O4 (GO-Fe3O4) nanocomposite functionalized with fourth-generation poly(amidoamine) (G4 PAMAM) dendrimers (GO-Fe3O4-G4 PAMAM) and ionic liquid (IL) modified carbon paste electrode (GO-Fe3O4-G4 PAMAM/ILCPE). The GO-Fe3O4-G4 PAMAM was synthesized and characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), field emission-scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX), vibrating-sample magnetometer (VSM), and fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) techniques. Cyclic voltammetry (CV) was used to evaluate the electrochemical behavior of carmoisine, revealing the good electrocatalytic function of GO-Fe3O4-G4 PAMAM/ILCPE. Linear response from 0.1 to 170.0 μM was obtained based on carmoisine electrochemical oxidation through differential pulse voltammetry (DPV). The limit of detection (LOD) value obtained was 0.02 μM. Also, the GO-Fe3O4-G4 PAMAM/ILCPE was used for the simultaneous determination of carmoisine and tartrazine. In co-existence system containing carmoisine and tartrazine, the developed sensor exhibited well-defined and separate DPV peaks (i.e., 770 mV) for carmoisine and tartrazine. Besides, repeatability, reproducibility and stability studies were performed. Additionally, the analytical application of this sensor was demonstrated by determination of carmoisine and tartrazine in food samples including lemon juice and powdered juice.

Abstract
Given the many issues bacterial infections cause to humans and the necessity for their detection, in this work we developed a robust aptasensor for prompt, ultrasensitive, and selective analysis of staphylococcus aureus bacterium (S. aureus). A nanocomposite of Ag nanoparticles, chitosan, graphene quantum dots, and nitrogen-doped TiO2 nanoparticles (Ag-Cs-Gr QDs/NTiO2) was synthesized, and thoroughly characterized by XRD, FT-IR, and FE-SEM spectroscopic methods. The surface of screen-printed carbon electrodes modified with Ag-Cs-Gr QDs/NTiO2 nanocomposite was utilized as a compatible platform for aptamer attachment. The aptasensor accurately determined S. aureus in the dynamic range of 10-5 × 108 CFU/mL with detection limit of 3.3 CFU/mL. The monitoring of the practical performance of aptasensor in human serum samples revealed its superiority over the conventional methods (relative recovery of 96.25-103.33%). The Ag-Cs-Gr QDs/NTiO2-based aptasensor offers facile, biocompatibility, good repeatability, reproducibility (RSD = 3.66%), label free and stabile strategy for sensitive S. aureus analysis free from biomolecules interferences in actual specimens.

Abstract
We used MoS2 nanosheets (MoS2 NSs) for surface modification of screen-printed electrode (MoS2NSs-SPE) aimed at detecting isoniazid (INZ) in the presence of acetaminophen (AC). According to analysis, an impressive catalytic performance was found for INZ and AC electro-oxidation, resulting in an appreciable peak resolution (~320 mV) for both analytes. Chronoamperometry, differential pulse voltammetry (DPV), linear sweep voltammogram (LSV), and cyclic voltammetry (CV) were employed to characterize the electrochemical behaviors of the modified electrode for the INZ detection. Under the optimal circumstances, there was a linear relationship between the peak current of oxidation and the various levels of INZ (0.035–390.0 µM), with a narrow limit of detection (10.0 nM). The applicability of the as-developed sensor was confirmed by determining the INZ and AC in tablets and urine specimens, with acceptable recoveries.

Abstract
A highly sensitive and selective modified electrode was successfully developed for the monitoring of nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NADH) in the presence of folic acid. In this regard, a carbon paste electrode (CPE) was functionalized by the nitrogen-doped carbon quantum dots/tin oxide (N-CQDs/SnO2) nanocomposite and 1-butyl-2,3-dimethyl imidazolium hexafluorophosphate ([C4DMIM][PF6]) ionic liquid (IL). The structure and surface morphology of the nanocomposite were characterized by various methods, including field emission scanning electron microscopy, energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS), high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HR-TEM), and x-ray diffraction (XRD). The modified electrode displayed powerful and long-lasting electron mediating activity, with well-separated NADH and folic acid oxidation peaks. The sensing response of the developed [C4DMIM][PF6]/N-CQDs/SnO2/CPE platform was evaluated by determining NADH via the voltammetric technique under the optimized operating conditions. The current peaks of the square wave voltammograms of NADH and folic acid increased linearly with enhancing its concentrations within the ranges of 0.003-275μM NADH and 0.4-380μM folic acid. The detection limits for NADH and folic acid were obtained at 0.8 nM and 0.1μM, respectively. Interference species such as glucose, urea, tryptophan, glycine, methionine, and vitamin B12had no influence on the ability of the fabricated modified electrode to detect the target species. The low detection limit, high sensitivity, excellent selectivity, superior stability, and cost-effectiveness made it suitable for the quantification of NADH in the real biological samples with the recovery percent values in the range of 97.5%-103%.

Abstract
A high performance and fast response sensor was fabricated as a monitoring system for the determination of butylated hydroxyanisole (BHA) in food and wastewater samples. In this regard, a carbon paste electrode (CPE) that was amplified with platinum-decorated single wall carbon nanotubes (Pt/SWCNTs) and 1-Butyl-3-methylimidazolium chloride ([C4mim][Cl]) was investigated as a new electroanalytical sensor for the monitoring of BHA in aqueous solution. The [C4mim][Cl]/Pt/SWCNTs/CPE offered an excellent catalytic activity on oxidation signal of BHA and enhanced its oxidation current about 5.51 times. In the final step, the standard addition results confirmed the powerful ability of [C4mim][Cl]/Pt/SWCNTs/CPE to the monitoring of BHA in different water and food samples with acceptable recovery data.

Abstract
It is well known that, surfactants provide a neutral, positive and/or negative charge on the electrode surface by forming a monolayer, which in turn affects the charge transfer and redox potential during the electroanalysis process. However, the molecular level understanding of these surfactant-modified electrodes is worth investigating because the interaction of the analyte with the electrode surface is still unclear. In this report, we used quantum chemical models based on computational density functional theory (DFT) to investigate the polysorbate 80 structure as well as the locations of energy levels and electron transfer sites. Later, the bare carbon paste electrode (bare/CPE) was modified with polysorbate 80 and used to resolve the overlapped oxidation signals of dihydroxy benzene isomers. The m/n values obtained at polysorbate/CPE was approximately equal to 1, signifying the transfer of same number of protons and electrons. Moreover, the analytical applicability of the modified electrode for the determination of catechol (CC) and hydroquinone (HQ) in tap water samples gave an acceptable recovery result. Overall, the application of DFT to understand the molecular level interaction of modifiers for sensing applications laid a new foundation for fabricating electrochemical sensors.

Abstract
In this work, the synergic impact of 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium methyl sulfate (EMMS) and NiO doped Pt decorated SWCNTs (NiO@Pt/SWCNTs) in carbon paste matrix was examined as an analytical tool for investigating electrochemical behavior of atropine. The voltammetric results revealed that NiO@Pt/SWCNTs/EMMS/CPE exhibited an excellent electrocatalytic activity towards redox reaction of atropine in aqueous solution pH = 10.0. The NiO@Pt/SWCNTs/EMMS/CPE offered the best electro-analytical conditions for monitoring of atropine in the concentration range of 4.0 nM-220 μM with an increase in oxidation current about 5.93 times. On the other hand, NiO@Pt/SWCNTs/EMMS/CPE displayed a long time stability (about 60 days) for monitoring of atropine. The ability of NiO@Pt/SWCNTs/EMMS/CPE as an electroanalytical tool for monitoring of atropine was investigated, and the recovery range was detected as to be 97.6%-104.25% for this goal.

Abstract
Convenient and sensitive detection of active analytes in complex matrix is crucial in biological, medical, and environmental analysis. Silica nanochannel array film (SNF) equipped electrochemical sensors have shown excellent anti-fouling performance in direct analysis of complex samples. In this work, we demonstrated an electrochemical sensor with anti-fouling performance for highly sensitive detection of acetaminophen (APAP) based on SNF supported by ß-cyclodextrin-graphene (CDG) nanocomposite modified Au film electrode (AuF). Because of their rich surface hydroxyls and 2D lamellar structure, CDG on AuF can serve as the nanoadhesive for compact binding SNF, which can be grown by electrochemical assisted self-assembly method in a few seconds. Attributable to the electrocatalytic property of graphene and the synergistic enrichment from both CD and SNF nanochannels towards analyte, the SNF/CDG/AuF sensor demonstrates sensitive detection of acetaminophen ranged from 0.2 to 50 μM with an ultralow limit-of-detection of 14 nM. Taking advantage of the anti-fouling ability of SNF, the sensor is able to realize accurate and convenient analysis of APAP in commercially available paracetamol tablets.
